      Any time! A tip for painting over your decals, apply a coat of the base layer over the top of the decal before switching to the top coat color. That will keep the top coat from seeping under the decal and should leave you with a cleaner edge.

    Cowboy
    Great build! You definitely have the “vision thing” with paint schemes.
    Wondering why you and others use abrasive techniques to remove old paint as prep for new color. Why not just use chemical stripper to easily remove finish to bare metal? Also exposes small dents and pitting for easy filling. This is what I do and seems easier with smooth frame finish.

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yes, I could've used stripper, but didn't have any with me and I was just so eager to just get the ball rolling on this build since I've already built it once ahah!

    I was thinking to paint my bike, looks like if you're not a professional, the paint will always chip away

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I agree! It was chipping so easily because I didn’t apply enough coats of clear coat. This time I added three coats and used a different primer! Hopefully it’ll be more durable!

    Why do you think the paint didn't work out the first time? I like the second paint job more!

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! That’s a great question, I felt it had something to do with the blue metallic paint quality. It didn’t adhere as well as solid colors do. So with this second paint job, I decided to use a different paint company Montana and applied three coats of varnish over the glitter. It seems it made a huge difference in durability!

    I thought that Cigne Stem was Threadless but it looked like this bike was threaded, can you walk through how that works?

    • @CowboyTomi
      @CowboyTomi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes of course. I had to use a threadless stem adapter to install the stem. However, it is a 1 1/8 threaded headset, so it can take a threadless headset if it needed to. It'll possibly be updated to a threadless fork in the future.
