Though I've never faced "fertility issues", both the times I've gotten pregnant I've been deep into keto! I had a friend dealing with PCOS, switched to keto, and got pregnant. It's a bummer that so much research is done on men and not women, it can be hard for us to find info on keto for things like pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc. This is my first "keto pregnancy" and I'm loving it! Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
I would love to see an example of what your wife eats in a day for keto! I love "What I Eat In a Day" videos. It would be great to see what a well balanced keto diet looks like for women. Great for meal ideas and motivation!
Thank you for touching on PCOS! I often wonder how much of an impact I'm making living keto with PCOS. I can tell you immediately my cycles are 100% different, which for us ladies who live with this HELL, is payoff in itself. I have never seen my body change in this nature, it's slowly transforming everyday! My blood pressure and rapid heartbeat (often spiked when I'd eat chips, chocolate bars, junk) never happen anymore. If you're reading this and considering the keto lifestyle, don't hesitate. TRY IT for at least a few months and give your body a chance at feeling incredibly different, for the better. Thanks Thomas!!
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial I love your channel. I got my hubby into it since he is a science guy and loves your explanations. Thanks for all your hard work.
Oh yea so if Thomas DeLauer is really doing Keto then how much protein are you taking in Thomas? I bet its nothing close to keto macros. You can't fool me.
Yes, Thomas is great! What he is NOT is a woman. There are a lot of women doing TH-cam videos. Never look to one source for information. Thomas is my primary, but not only source.
Pcos has plagued me all my life.. horrible condition! KETO saves my life everyday! 6 months, 18 KG less, all lady symptoms back to normal and no brain fog!! I could continue naming positive changes! so grateful to you Thomas!
Takes me 2 days to get into a ketogenic state from a regular diet. Eat eggs, cheese and salmon only for two days and you should hit keto and keep your calories regular, omelette is great, can add spinach to it too. Then you can intermittent fast.
Oh yea so if Thomas DeLauer is really doing Keto then how much protein are you taking in Thomas? I bet its nothing close to keto macros. You can't fool me.
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve had Hashimotos for 9 years and in the last 5 months of being on Keto I’ve lost 40lbs! But the best part is I keep having to reduce my medication and I finally have the energy to chase my toddler around. I love all of your videos and want to thank you for all the great information 😊
Would love this comment if I could. Congrats on all your success! As much as keto made a difference in my body, I'm constantly thankful for the energy it gives me and for how it changed the way I interact with my family. I feel like keto made me a "fun mom" :) High-five from a fellow keto mama!
Oh yea so if Thomas DeLauer is really doing Keto then how much protein are you taking in Thomas? I bet its nothing close to keto macros. You can't fool me.
I appreciate this so much. Been on keto for about 2 months now and lost 16 pounds so far. As a woman who was diagnosed with pcos in the past, I cant even begin to explain how much keto has improved my mood, my skin, my anxiety levels my over all life. All thanks to you and your knowledge and passion for sharing the information. Looking forward to more of your videos. Please make a video on recipes and snacks you would really recommend.
YES!! Keto was the first thing to actually clear my skin. My acne had always been hormonal and it seemed like nothing helped until I got consistent with keto. I notice a huge difference in my mood too. Congrats on all your success!!
I am on week 5 of keto and I have only lost 6 lbs. I am monitoring my carbs and calories with carb manager and working out 4 days a week. My weight loss is slow🙄
I have PCOS, i was growing a lot of hair on my chin, I wasn’t able to get pregnant either.. On keto for two months and I got pregnant plus minimized a lot of my PCOS symptoms.
Last year I did Keto for 8 weeks, but I fall sick with heart palpitations n other issues. Finally result is my hypo thyroid became hyper because I continued to take external medicine 😀 it took sometime to understand why it happened n all medical diagnosis. During the Keto n intermittent fasting I lost 18 pounds I was active and was feeling good. now this video really helps 👍 I just started again with all lessons learned from the past.
The ketogenic diet has absolutely changed my life. I could write a novel on it. As a woman with PCOS, this diet has helped me feel incredible for the first time in my life.
Thank you for mentioning menopause! I would love a video focusing on post menopause Keto and Fasting. Im a healthy post menopause women exercise frequently and have been IF for a couple of years. Love to watch and learn from your videos. I do find most of your video are about woman in child baring age but there's a lot of us out there. Love your videos and will keep watching!!
Thanks for the information and yes, please do a future video on woman who are entering or are in menopause. I have been at my wits end to do something about menopause and finally went to my doctor. All he wanted to do was put me on a low dose of anti depressant. Nope, not going to happen. Thank God I am following you to find a better way to help me.I have been doing IF for a little while but now and have been doing ok with it. I will try to go the Keto way. If I can control the weight, the brain fog, the headache/ migraines and the mood swings with food, then I am all in. Again thank you for all you do.
Omg! Yes this is exactly what happened to me! I jumped into keto full force and paid dearly for it. Had brain fog, anxiety thru the roof! Also it brought on my menstrual cycle, heavy too, even though I have an IUD. So more or less my hormones were out of whack! Was searching for this info everywhere and like you said, it isnt that much info out there for woman. I'm 47 years old and have lost 63 pounds in less than a year on keto! But it has been a struggle! Thanks for putting this out there! ❤
This is really helpful information. Back when I started keto the first time I went headfirst into it and boy did I get sick. I had ALL the electrolytes in the world and still felt really off. Months later my hair started falling out and I stopped getting my period. I was pretty shaken by it. After a two month break, I slowly tapered into keto and I've been completely fine ever since. Periods regular, hair looks great, I feel fantastic and I am continuing to lose weight. Just hit "onederland" last week. This is excellent advice Thomas, keep it up!
I've been keto for around 7 months and have PCOS with completely normal hormone levels, and intermittent fasting has helped me control the insulin resistance aspect of it!!
I am SO happy I watched this today. I will NEVER do a long fast again because anything over 20 hours has made me cold miserable, and thrown off my menstrual cycle and emotional state. This just validated every problem I've had and helped me find solutions so that I can finally do keto AND fasting right :D
Thank you for this! I went from vegan to keto overnight and had really bad side effects such as, muscle cramping, lethargy, headaches, brain fog, dizziness, etc! So I am backing off a bit and adding more carbs to slowly transition. I feel a lot better now! Thanks for sharing this info!
I just got back on the keto diet and I’m down 5 pounds already super excited to keep this up I think I only need to lose another 5 to 10 pounds to be where I want to be. That being said not enough people are talking about this topic. Thank you so much
Thanks you for gearing this towards women. I wish I had this 2 months ago when I started keto to help my thyroid issues. 🤷🏽♀️ I’m there now and feeling better each day. The only think I will say is I do increase my carbs by 10 grams or so a day or two before my period. It’s different for everyone but found that work best for me and my hormones
Great, great information! All diets need to be modified for the individual needs of each gender as well as age and medical conditions to some degree. So many of my patients don't understand the importance of "diet individualization". Which is a major part of our philosophy.
@@samanthagertz1018 there's different types of keto and many people suffer from different diseases that have different struggles and challenges. Medications too..
Chana BatYah very well said. i applaud you for going straight into a omad keto protocol. this is something we recommend only to our most motivated patients.
I keep seeing you on TH-cam ads. I was pretty hesitant about your channel thinking this is sketchy. Then Alicia from Keto Upgrade mentioned your channel, and how she got started and lost weight. So I decided to give it a shot. It's been 3 weeks since cutting out sugar completely thanks to Dr. Berry. My ketone is at 1.7. I have seltzer water that has sodium, and calcium I sprinkle Himalayan salt and liquid iodine. I've watched Dr. Berry on supplements. So I am here I have a vague idea of what to eat. I learned that you don't have to eat all the vegetables that are on the list eat the ones you love.
One thing that helped me get into keto without the carb withdrawal symptoms was to start with a Paleo diet for a few weeks prior to Keto, later adding IF a few days a week. Could not believe the energy level when I did it this way. Finally loving fasting and Keto- no cravings!
Thomas DeLauer The macros definitely changed. Then in going keto, I used MyFitnessPal app to create a meal plan with the right balance of macros and calories. Love your videos- thanks for the great info and ongoing topics to keep those of us in the community motivated and informed!
I have had 1/2 of my thyroid removed and also my gallbladder.... How does that effect me being on Keto and Intermittent Fasting? I just lost 41#s by water only fasting for 21 days. That has helped me greatly with pain in my legs/knees, energy, etc. I drank AVC in my water while on fasting (as well as straight water). I was not hungry and did not have any adverse side effects. I broke my fast today with Beef Broth and will continue tomorrow , going slowly introducing Keto foods. I do not want to go backward in my weightloss. How do I access your Thrive Suggested foods for the Thyroid? Love your teachings . You are someone who I can believe in as you walk the talk... you've been their and can help us to navigate the crooks in the road. Thanks so much and God bless you and your family !
Wow. This is exactly what I needed. I did everything you mentioned wrong. I went all in immediately, I fasted to get into keto quicker. I felt great, then absolutely terrible(keto flu, keto rash), then great and then I slumped again. I decided to re-up carbs for a week and give it another try again. Second time starting I will take your advise from this video. Thank you!
Hope Hernandez OMG that's me now 😬. I jumped right in 2 weeks ago with IF first then low carb a few days then Keto for past few days. Now not sure if I should back track and add more carbs back in, even though now I feel used to not having them? Stop IF? Oh boy. I see this post was a year ago, how did it work out for you? I hope you've had great success!!
For those of us in menopause with hypothyroidism, you mentioned the "weight gain, being hungry all the time, & brain fog," but another key symptom/issue is little to no energy! Which maybe plays into being insulin resistant and adrenal fatigue. Regardless, Keto has been the only way I have been able to lose weight in the last 10 years. It's a s-l-o-w processes, but it's working. Thank you for the info!
I have hypothyroidism, and with the keto diet, I am weening off of the synthetic T-4 with my thyroid hormones and TSH becoming normal as I do. It's been great for my thyroid.
Never before in my life had I been able to eat what I want and lose weight and feel better at the same time!!! Keto is my kind of diet! I just feel so strong and motivated! I don't feel 34 at all! Thank you Thomas! Thank you! I have learned soooooo much from you!
@@veronicaruiz599 Within the diet limits, yes. You know carbs never really liked me. I really feel better when I ditch carbs and dairy. But do watch his videos explaining the keto diet. He explains everything in such a professional, understandable way. Good luck on your journey (^_^)
This makes so much sense to me! I tryed keto sometime last year. I was doing the one meal a day with a ton of crusiferous vegetables and other things and I felt horrible (obviously I can see why now). This information is so helpful and very eye opening to me. I am ready to give it another try. Thank you for all this information your channel is very helpful.
Hi Thomas, I am on keto diet almost a year. Before bed i am drinking bulletproof cacao drink (10g butter,10g Mct oil, 1tbsp organic cacao). I bought some quail eggs and i want to know , is it a good idea to add 4 of them in my keto drink. Yesterday i tried it, and i really liked the taste. What are your thoughts on this ? Love your videos. Greetings from Macedonia,
I'm glad I saw this before this weekend. I was planning on doing a bone broth fast. Now I know to wait. Also, I was wondering why I was having such a problem sticking with KETO. Start slowly... MInd blown. I've watched so many keto videos and this is the first time I'm hearing it put this way. So with this and the KETO over 50 video I should be good?
My husband doesnt have a gallbladder and severe migraines, and I have hypothyroidism & pcos. Your advice about the way to transition seems very similar for both of our conditions, so this should benefit us equally to do it gradually. Your channel has provided some very helpful information as we are going into this. Thank you Thomas!
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial Only yogurt, with chia and hemp seeds. He has had his GB out for 3-4 yrs, so his body has adjusted to the difference. Would you suggest anything different for him to make the transition easier on his gut with the high fat content?
@@deborahschaub2925 We ended up doing the transition with out any added enzymes etc. We started with one keto meal a week and started cutting out different things as the week went along. Then we increased to keto lunches and every other dinner keto. Then we did full blown at the end of the month. He doesn't have ANY issue with keto and it actually has improved the digestive issues he was having before. I highly recommend it!
I am on keto with IF . Was 20 hour fasts but I'm post menopausal. Added 10,000 steps then 1 or 2 Orange Theory classes per week. Then everything went nuts. My body temp was way up then down. Serious brain fog, headaches, extreme thirst .... No sleep and exhaustion. Now I have to start over. My electrolyte drinks are twice as strong now and salt water on hand at all times..... I'm going to go very slow next time.
I started Keto as a way to deal with the symptoms of Endometriosis and eventhough my cycle has been haywire since I've started (8 weeks) I am no longer even taking painkillers. I was taking 440 mg of naproxen every 6 hours during my entire period ( sometimes lasting up to 10 days!) and even when taking this medication I was still feeling pain and discomfort. Ever since I started I am maybe taking 1 or 2 220mg pills during my entire period! I am currently experiencing a long period but my doctor says that it is normal and that by the time my 6 month on Keto is done my cycle will get regular. Its obviously uncomfortable to have such long period but the fact that I can function without painkillers makes it worth it to me
Lol well this is helpful to know. Me and 3 other women in my office threw ourselves into a full Keto diet. But that first month our periods just went crazy. I had two periods one of them lasting 11 days. My coworkers all experienced similar problems. This now makes sense.
My periods have been irregular my whole life. I can go months without having one and even a year at a time without one. I started weaning myself off of carbs two weeks ago and I started a period yesterday! I've also been dairy free for almost a week now but after watching this video I see that there carbs were probably interfering the most with my hormones out of those two. Thank you for your content!
i tried keto a while ago and it made me feel so tired all the time and just not ok at all , i’m thinking of trying one more time and changing somethings to avoid feeling so weird and this video helps a lot !
Thank you so much. I have just discovered your channel after being on Keto for 6 weeks and am gaining so much valuable information. I have just gone through menopause and am loving this new way of eating.
Thank you for going over PCOS and thyroid conditions!!! I have both and was prescribed a modified Keto diet. I appreciate your videos and look forward to more in the future!!
Thomas DeLauer is an awesome keto coach. Helped me change my lifestyle and maintain results with his keto infusion program. Used to have Hypothyroid, the keto lifestyle has helped reset my hormonal balance. Can’t thank you enough brother. Keep up the great content💪🏻🙏🏼🤙🏻
I love the ketogenic diet, and I do add carbs for me and the kids, my husband is pretty strict, but its things like black rice, and quinoa, which are both amazing with avocados for anyone wanting to do lower carbs, but still eat some carbs.
I have PCOS and was simply told by my (male) family GP to lose weight. So I tried most of the slimming club diets which all seem to involve eating lots of low fat and high carb foods all throughout the day. Barely lost any weight and felt I had no energy for much exercise. Have fully embraced keto and now IF and I have lost 22lbs, 4 inches from my hips and 3.5 inches around my waist and feel I ha e lots of energy and feel so active! Bit of upset with menses but went to my female family Dr who was unconcerned and felt that my hormones were resetting themselves. I was happy to tell her about keto and IF 😁😁😁
OK, I've jumped right in and hardly have any side effects. The only negative is the evenings in terms of IF, I get hungry but I'm trying to push through drinking water!
Keto and pregnancy. Been on Keto since last May. Start weight 208 to 125. First trimester I am at 134 now. Almost 10 pounds in 12 weeks because of cravings of course but I want to know the science of why a Ketogenic State while pregnant isn’t a bad thing. I ask YOU because you dig for your information and I appreciate it. Just a request for a future video.
I love this video that addresses women specifically. Ive noticed that most of the videos and research i see are by, for, and on men and the assumption is that results should be similar for men. I don't want to play with assumptions. Its so hard to find information that relates specifically to my body as a woman. So thank you!
My husband and I have been doing keto together for several months. He has lost a great deal of weight, improved in every health measure. He's off his BP meds, cholesterol meds, his resting pulse rate is better than ever. Me? Opposite. I feel like I'm getting more and more unhealthy. Thanks for this video!
It's 1:30am and idk exactly how I got here but, I'm so glad I did! I've learned so much from this short video that I'm blown away. 🤯 Your videos have so much useful information that I would've had to spend hours researching for. My own dietitian/nutritionist hasn't even touched on 1/2 the pointers you provided in this video. I'm considering never going back to her and just sticking your videos! Tyvmfs
I just jumped into keto headfirst without any transition time and I only felt a bit sick and lazy for a few days. Now it's been a couple of weeks and my digestion, energy levels, sleep and focus have improved. This only proves that each woman is different, sure, but I'm just putting it out there to say it's possible to start right away. I had to start the diet on things like bacon and cream though because it was just to depressing being sick and having to eat nuts, fish and avocados every morning and I transitioned to healthier foods after a week. So there's a tip for starting X3
I would have loved to know this when I started keto. This should be a must watch before starting keto. I just dove into it and felt horrible. And no, it wasn't the keto flu. It was more hormonal changes.
I am an older viewer 64 I was still having hormone issues because of PCOS until I started keto. GYN is glad my ovaries are still working and that is a problem usually someone my age doesn't have to worry about. I was told it should tamper off soon.
Wow I was doing it all wrong. Just kinda jumped into keto 2 weeks ago the way men do. So glad I came across this video so that I can now take a step back and be a bit gentler towards my body.
This was such a great video . I’m trying to get back on Keto now . You just explained why I failed last week and why women’s hormone fluctuations are so much more of a hinderance to sliding into ketosis. Last year all the stars were aligned for me when I tried Keto for the first time and I did it almost magically. One cheat meal turned into a cheat week and I killed my newly shrunken microbiome . Big downward spiral and I’ve been longing to get back into ketosis ever since but I seem to have ridiculously strong cravings now and I’m not sure if Keto is the key for me . When I start eating all the coconut products , spring mix and veges I build up oxalates and it forces me to stop . I also am homozygous for histamine intolerance ( DAO) and it seems to be affected too - maybe the shrinking of my gut bugs ..? Idk . It just seems really hard this year . I need a diet bc I feel like crap most of the time .
You're the best Thomas, you speak facts & science proof on so many levels, I love your style of educating us on keto, IF, the body & food.. I'm always ready to gain & enhance my knowledge by you Thomas!♥️ Thank you for sharing as always, God bless! Jae😘😁
I wanted to comment on here because I had thyroid issues with a lot of nodules on my thyroid and when I originally changed my diet to just be over all healthier a bunch of my nodules went down but my thyroid was still inflamed and I had a nodule about the size of a quarter on either side of my thyroid that had calcified. Calcification on a nodule has to be watched because it can quickly lead to cancer but it stayed in that state for years. I did the keto diet to support my sister who really wanted to do it even though my doctor wasnt super for it at the time and it's the only thing that has changed. One nodule is completely gone and the other is a 5th of the size with no calcification now. Right before the diet I had to start physical therapy because I couldn't hardly walk without paid for different reasons but because the keto diet is antinflammitory I ended up healing pretty quickly from that too. Like my physical therapist was astonished at the difference. I have fallen off the bandwagon a few times now but I'm back on it so that I can continue to heal and feel better. I know this isn't like a study or anything and I dont want it to seem like I'm selling snake oil here but this has been my personal experience that had taken such a positive turn that my doctors have relooked into this diet
This was an extremely informative video for women. I’ve been struggling with hormone issues since starting keto and these tips are necessary for a women’s success with the ketogenic diet. Thank you!!!
I love your videos Thomas. Your videos have and continue to give the knowledge that I need to help all different manner of customers that walk into our little Keto shop. Without your channelI would never have been able to get into Keto and intermittent fasting as deeply as I am now.
You mentioned that keto decreases testosterone levels. Does it mean that it is harder to build muscle on keto for a woman? I am a woman and trying to build muscle on keto.
Thank you for this. That’s interesting to know about what happens during perimenopause/menopause and the rise in insulin levels. That can very well explain what I had been going through and why I had insulin resistance. I’m now post menopausal (age 57) and I’ve been doing keto and IF since the end of October. I’ve lost about 30 lbs and would still like to lose 10 more...but one of my challenges is to get my insulin levels under control. I’m sure they have improved, but I’m not there 100%.
Hello so since your last post what updates do you have to share Kay? I am in that pre menopause state or maybe i and already there either way i am totally off my game i have gotten use to fasting but i do flip it back and forth 16 8 with diffrent windows for eating.. all the happy clear mindset has all but gone yet i still try i know some where i can find the right balance i will try what thomas talks about here in this video.. but my main problen right now is inflammation like really bad and this is not good so i think i will go back to the start and see if i can find that so called sweet spot the balance between the two. Menopause or not i am not gonna let this take me out of my goal to find my balance in keto and my over all health! Wish me luck and any advice you can share
*Hits **10:00** in vIdeo* Thomas- Don't jump directly into keto, ease into it. Me: Oops, Jumped directly into that... it's day 2, no turning back now. I've been doing the 20/4 fasting because I have a tendency to binge eat, although this has helped me lose almost 20lbs in the past year, lately I've been running into a plateau and just seem to sit and have my weight bounce around the same 7lbs. I decided to give keto a try from one of your previous videos and the fact that my older brother lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. I typically hit a weight loss plateau roughly every 10lbs I lose, a bit annoying but unsurprising. On the bright side I am getting pretty close to my goal weight and want to give it that final push.
have you done a video on keto while breastfeeding? My wife wants to get on keto with me but she's nursing our daughter and is scared that keto might hurt the baby, seeing some solid science about whether it's safe or not would put her mind at ease. Thanks much!
I been doing keto for a little over a month. I dived right in. Under 20 carbs a day. Oh man and I fast. No wonder this diet has kicked my butt the first few weeks. And what's worse is my guy and our son have junk food in the house. Talk are being determined lol I haven't broke yet!
All I know is after doing about 3 years of therapeutic ketosis, IF, I'M ALMOST 60 and I needed to add butternut squash and sweet potatoes almost daily or every other day because my sleep was jacked up bad, now I'm ok.
Now ya tell me. I jumped right in. All or nothing. I’m in ketosis. But already feeling better, only a few weeks in. I’m taking all my supplements and my electrolytes, like to told us ! Dr , or should I say professor Thomas. Thank you.
This was super helpful and I really appreciate this explanation specifically for women. You have really made a huge change in my health and my husband's health. Thank you.
Fantastic. Great video for women--- last year, I was overdoing raw kale. I had no idea! It totally messed with my thyroid, and my usually typically-like- clockwork cycles went haywire and my period just never ended for weeks! I thought I was having some sort of thyroid attack or going through menopause or who knows what. I went to the doctor and they did not have very much information for me other than to go get blood tested and pretty much get used to life is an old lady, lol lol. I of course asked Dr Google and learned that kale should not be eaten raw or it will affect the thyroid!! So I stopped eating Raw kale and mustard and collard greens and the like (I'm apparently one of the very few Americans that actually like to eat raw greens, lol oh well), and anyway, bingo. Next day... flow stopped.
Super helpful video! I'm using some keto concepts to help my PCOS and I definitely think the blood sugar balance and more fats available to form hormones has helped.

You can check my playlist on women and menopause especially the alkaline keto diet! I had a complete hysterectomy preformed when I was 32 and I battled with being morbidity obese and depressed while in menopause- through this diet I have lost over 190lbs and regulated my hormone levels! I would also include some resistant starches every other week!
Is there any videos or info on breastfeeding and keto..?? Id love to do a lil more research..! But honestly would love to try start this out! Really believe this is for me.
I was freezing, losing hair and couldn’t sleep after a few months on straight keto. Now I add in carbs in the evening... not sure if I’m in ketosis anymore.
I had my thyroid removed 4 years ago. Been on Keto since September 2018. Dr wants to lower my thyroid meds because it’s running high. Does the thyroid control the metabolism? How does not having a thyroid affect my metabolism? I’ve lost about 30 lbs but haven’t been strict Keto. Just started being diligent and tracking my macros and making sure to get them in. I also started working out doing HIIT classes. I wish I would have known more about Keto Before having it removed. I wonder if it would have reversed the goiters. I had 8 modules and you could see it like an Adam’s apple. Thanks for all the hard work you do to get these great videos out.
Yeah... so i had dove right into the keto diet... It's been... It feels like it's been forever. It's probably been about six weeks (with a bit of trial and error) and I have gained weight. I am feeling very very discouraged. I keep thinking, "This is not for me.". I jumped from 119 lbs to 125 lbs in just a few weeks. I'm really depressed. I know I did everything "right". I never cheated. And I feel miserable. I have been repeatedly fiber deficient because my net carb intake does not allow me to fulfill that need. As a result, I have been facing stomach distention and severe bloating. It's a very painful feeling. I bought KetoMojo a few weeks ago and have seen that I am in ketosis. But nothing. The high fat is so caloric dense that it's affecting how much I can eat. I still feel the hunger pangs. I have purchased the myfitnesspal premium to try to figure out what I did. I even followed the meal plan by DietDoctors and it contributed to the weight gain. I have thrown out all of the "bad foods" and spent hundreds every week on top quality foods (foods from ThriveMarket, Nuts.com, BulletProof, Whole Food stores)...I have supplemented my diet as well (with electrotypes, etc). I have purchased the carb manager app to try and manage this weight gain and the calculator suggests I eat less than 1,000 calories a day to lose weight... How the bloody hell is that sustainable???? I also just got on my lady time of the month so I am feeling very irritable and helpless. I feel like I've done everything but this still does not want to work for me. I'm an ounce away from returning back to my butternut squash and orange eating days.

If you're reading this and considering the keto lifestyle, don't hesitate. TRY IT for at least a few months and give your body a chance at feeling incredibly different, for the better. Thanks Thomas!!
Amen to that! I think people get a really warped view of keto as it has become more "trendy". JUST TRY IT is great advice :)
@@TamasinShaw Gosh I get so much flack for being keto all the time, it's just absolute ignorance.
This is awesome!
Yep. When I started keto, I had my first regular cycle in years. Also my chronic acne completely went away.

Junk food candy, Chips, muffins

Yes, Thomas is great! What he is NOT is a woman. There are a lot of women doing TH-cam videos. Never look to one source for information. Thomas is my primary, but not only source.
I talk a lot about keto for women on my channel ☺️
Pcos has plagued me all my life.. horrible condition! KETO saves my life everyday! 6 months, 18 KG less, all lady symptoms back to normal and no brain fog!! I could continue naming positive changes! so grateful to you Thomas!
Thank you so much!
Love this. So many dietary or fitness professionals never specify whether the information is produced for men or women. Keep killing it brother 👍
Thanks Thomas
I love the tip for women to not use fasting to get into keto, but to use fasting as a tool once you're already there. That's really helpful!
It's a very common mistake
How do you get into keto then? The 2 to 3 week taper in?
Takes me 2 days to get into a ketogenic state from a regular diet. Eat eggs, cheese and salmon only for two days and you should hit keto and keep your calories regular, omelette is great, can add spinach to it too. Then you can intermittent fast.
For me, it was the 3 week taper in, Dr. Fung's research suggests it is linked to how long insulin resistance has been present.

I'm so glad I could help!
Please do more of these videos for us older women!

Those of us in our 60’s would be awesome
Your information has really helped me. I am over 60 and enjoy keto and fasting.
Thank you so much! I'll see what I can do
I am on week 5 of keto and I have only lost 6 lbs.
Did it minimize the chin hair? 🤔

I'll see what i can do
Thanks for the information and yes, please do a future video on woman who are entering or are in menopause.
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial and peri menapause too please. I'd like to be able to support my mum.
Thank you would love for you to pick maybe 1 day a week video just for woman please!!!!! 😊
Yes. Trying to breastfeed and keto. Doing 50 carbs . Just want to be safe
Endless summer yes! Perhaps “Woman Wednesday” or something? Haha
I just got back on the keto diet and I’m down 5 pounds already super excited to keep this up I think I only need to lose another 5 to 10 pounds to be where I want to be. That being said not enough people are talking about this topic. Thank you so much
Congrats on your weight loss! and YOU'RE SO RIGHT, not enough people are talking about keto, especially for women. It has changed my life!
FitLordTamasin Yes I totally agree!!
FitLordTamasin and thank you!
But how individualized can ketosis actually be?
The losing weight process, not just keto can be very individualized@@samanthagertz1018
@@samanthagertz1018 there's different types of keto and many people suffer from different diseases that have different struggles and challenges. Medications too..
Chana BatYah very well said. i applaud you for going straight into a omad keto protocol. this is something we recommend only to our most motivated patients.

Shouldn’t you educate your patients?
Keto is my final hope. I’m scared to death. But researching and going to do it.
I just started it, on saturday last week. I jumped right in. I am used to eating pretty low carb since before. Been listening to a lot of your videos.
If you were already pretty low carb, that would probably count as your adjustment period
I EAT A LOT OF GREENS AND I TAKE 150MG OF IODINE EVERY DAY. IT KEEPS A GOOD BALANCE. THANK YOU THOMAS!!

One thing that helped me get into keto without the carb withdrawal symptoms was to start with a Paleo diet for a few weeks prior to Keto, later adding IF a few days a week.
Could not believe the energy level when I did it this way.
Finally loving fasting and Keto- no cravings!
Sounds like a great idea, honestly. Going paleo had to change your macro ratios
For those of us in menopause with hypothyroidism, you mentioned the "weight gain, being hungry all the time, & brain fog," but another key symptom/issue is little to no energy! Hi Thomas,
I am on keto diet almost a year.
Greetings from Macedonia,
Good question, i would like to know about that too bro!
@@deborahschaub2925 We ended up doing the transition with out any added enzymes etc. We started with one keto meal a week and started cutting out different things as the week went along.
I'm glad I could help
I don't take injected pain killer and having less cramps during my period since following low carb/Cycling keto diet.

I love the ketogenic diet, and I do add carbs for me and the kids, my husband is pretty strict, but its things like black rice, and quinoa, which are both amazing with avocados for anyone wanting to do lower carbs, but still eat some carbs.
Remember, keto isn't no carb, it's low carb
How would this be different for a female who doesn't have menstrual cycles?
Keto and pregnancy. Been on Keto since last May. Start weight 208 to 125. First trimester I am at 134 now. Almost 10 pounds in 12 weeks because of cravings of course but I want to know the science of why a Ketogenic State while pregnant isn’t a bad thing. I ask YOU because you dig for your information and I appreciate it. Just a request for a future video.
That will require some homework. Let me see what I can find

Thank you for all your videos. I've learned more from you, than any doctor or any class in school.
Best of luck!
coconut products make me more hungry.. Best is to understand your body - what makes you hungry? what makes you full?

Yes .. I am on menopause . Thanks

Thomas- Don't jump directly into keto, ease into it.
Also beans I added, post meno , and still omad and keto worth added beans squash sweet potatoes periodically
If you allocate a majority of your daily carbs to the evening, the sleep issue is more or less eliminated

Thank you for explaining regarding menopause❤
I am going through it, it literally has made me fat and forgetful.
Super helpful video! I'm using some keto concepts to help my PCOS and I definitely think the blood sugar balance and more fats available to form hormones has helped.
Thank you sooo much for us women!!
You're welcome!

Great content. Would REALLY appreciate any info around keto/fasting or anything for women who are in a peri menopausal or menopausal state please, as hormones different in these stages to a woman in her fertile years. Thanks.
Wow. I’m impressed of what I learned today! Just wow... Thank you for taking the time to also acknowledge women specifically .
If you allocate a majority of your daily carbs to the evening, it helps the sleep issue
As a woman what is the best way to build muscle on the keto diet?
Thank you so much for these videos! I appreciate all the information you give us.
I wish I would have known more about Keto
Before having it removed. I wonder if it would have reversed the goiters. I had 8 modules and you could see it like an Adam’s apple. Thanks for all the hard work you do to get these great videos out.
This might be a topic for a follow-up video
Yeah... so i had dove right into the keto diet...
Can you do a video about keto while breastfeeding? I was strict keto before pregnancy and had to stop almost my entire pregnancy due to consistent morning sickness, but now that my beautiful daughter is here, I would like to get back on Keto without it dramatically dropping my milk supply. I would love to see your insight!
