How Much Protein do Women REALLY Need? Thomas DeLauer
    Skin, Hair & Nails
When protein is eaten, your digestive processes break it down into amino acids, which pass into the blood and are carried throughout the body.
Your cells can then select the amino acids they need for the construction of new body tissue, antibodies, hormones, enzymes, and blood cells.
There are 22 different amino acids, each of which has its own characteristics
In various combinations, all of these amino acids are capable of forming an almost limitless variety of proteins, each serving its own purpose.
Nails are made of protein, not calcium as some think. A protein deficiency can be marked by split, extremely thin nails. Nails that fail to grow quickly lack protein.
L-cysteine and L-methionine are the sulfur amino acids that form "keratin," which is the protein structure of hair
L-lysine, mainly present in the inner part of the hair root is responsible for hair shape and volume.
Protein also contains two amino acids, namely L-glycine and L-proline, that support the body’s production of collagen

    Joints & Bones
Especially important for women, who are at high risk of osteoporosis after menopause
It’s estimated that 80 percent of the 10 million Americans with osteoporosis are women. Women tend to have smaller, lighter bones than men.
    cdn.nof.org/wp...
This makes women more susceptible to osteoporosis as there is less mass, and menopause has a greater effect on their bones.
Plus, after menopause the body produces less estrogen and progesterone - two common female hormones that help keep bones strong
    www.ncbi.nlm.n...
    ---
Amino acids contribute to the development of protein within the body and are vital in promoting wound repair and encouraging healthy tissue in muscles, bones
Aminos work along synergistic pathways to decrease inflammation and promote the body's natural synthesis and maintenance of joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons, it protects, prevents and helps in the repair of musculoskeletal injuries and inflammation, regardless of the cause
    Review - Osteoporosis International
The review, published in Osteoporosis International, found that a protein-rich diet, provided there is adequate calcium intake, is in fact beneficial for adult bone health
It also found no evidence that acid load due to higher dietary protein intakes, whether of animal or vegetable origin, is damaging to bone health
The key findings of the extensive literature review include:
Hip fracture risk is modestly decreased with higher dietary protein intakes, provided calcium intakes are adequate
Bone mineral density (BMD), which is an important determinant of bone strength, appears to be positively associated with dietary protein intakes
Protein and calcium combined in dairy products have beneficial effects on calciotropic hormones, bone turnover markers and BMD.
The benefit of dietary proteins on bone outcomes seems to require adequate calcium intakes
There appears to be no direct evidence of osteoporosis progression, fragility fractures or altered bone strength with the acid load originating from a balanced diet.

    Quality of Meat
Today, there are six anabolic steroids given, in various combinations, to nearly all animals entering conventional beef feedlots in the U.S:
Three natural steroids (estradiol, testosterone, and progesterone), and
Three synthetic hormones (the estrogen compound zeranol, the androgen trenbolone acetate, and progestin melengestrol acetate).
    Zeranol
In vitro, zeranol stimulates growth and replication of human breast tumor cells - acts as a mycoestrogen (endocrine disruptor)
    Omega 3’s
Many women endure abdominal discomfort and cramps every month, a condition known in medical terms as dysmenorrhea
They discovered that omega-3 fatty acids inhibit an enzyme called cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which produces the prostaglandin hormones that spark inflammation
During your menstrual period, your uterus contracts to help expel its lining. Hormonelike substances (prostaglandins) involved in pain and inflammation trigger the uterine muscle contractions
Menstrual cramps are caused by strong contractions of the uterus triggered by prostaglandins

Okay, today I was praying about how much protein I needed, and I stumbled on your video. I have low thyroid, and have been so confused about how much protein I needed and wasted money on protein powders when I could have been investing in more high quality proteins. Everyone says 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight which was so hard for me. Please make more videos on how your wife healed her low thyroid. I have questions about fasting with low thyroid, and how to workout with low thyroid. My sleep and muscle building have been affected by this issue. Thank you for your videos. They are a blessing.

They said it’s impossible because of gluconeogenesis. I said that’s not what I’m experiencing. So i eat a lot of protein. Not too too much but I don’t worry about it at all.

Thank you for this really interesting video. It confirms why I feel so great since I am on the carnivore diet. I eat only grass fed beef, sea salt and spring water. I have been keto for a year, and switched to carnivore since your video on this topic.
I tried it for 3 weeks, but stayed carnivore since then, because it really works for me : mind clarity, sleep, no craving at all for any other food than meat, feeling satisfied (first time in my life that I can say beetween meals that I am not hungry) and no bloating, skin, nails, weight lost, more energy, so I started working out at home.
And my life is so simple now! I am enjoying every minute of it!
I guess the quantity of proteins is different for someone on carnivore diet, because I eat around two pounds of meat every day, as all women do on carnivore diet.
No more need to calculate macros or calories. So simple! Just eat meat when hungry, until satisfied. I love it!!! 🙂

just turned 28 and have been struggling with belly fat since my young years. Have been doing fasting since 2011 full stop on my periods but lost all the excess weight and still going strong. As I get older though I have noticed it's becoming even easier for me to gain weight and keep it off. since the pandemic I have started doing 24/1 method and a 48 hour fast once a week. It helps but also sucks to see my coworkers eating constantly but not be fat. I probably have a messed up everything but I am still here so I guess I am not at a total loss. I like all this info your doing for the research on how women can better eat and do things that make the body feel better. Never knew any of this before. Thanks

Doesn't too much protein turn to glucose? A Doctor I work with told me to watch eating too much protein. He said it was a pitfall that many fall into. I am a 59 year old female who goes to the gym 5-6 days a week. I typically do treadmill (walking) for 30 minutes and then do weight machines for 30. I am strict keto. How many grams of protein (over my macro recommended) is too much? I am a diabetic who has reversed the Diabetes and I can not go back to the shots of insulin!!!! Right now I am in perfect control and NO MEDICATION!! I DO TEST DAILY.

Thank you for this great video. Questions: When you say .5g/lb for women, would that be the actual piece of meat? How much protein content do we know in any given weight of meat? The ADA, CDC and WHO list vastly different intake amounts. How does one reconcile those numbers? Your videos are great. They are on-point, very educational, useful, practical. Even the speed at which you speak is efficient; keeps ears listening. Lean! Thank you for not stealing our time.

But!!! Seed cycling! Estrogen dominance, so to speak, is normal in the follicular phase.and progesterone dominance in the luteal. So taking omega 3s and 6s is dependent on your cycle! I had crazy depressive PMS till I found that omega 3s at the wrong time was getting my progesterone levels lower relative to estrogen... which is bad in the luteal phase! Flax and pumpkinseed meal in the follicular phase, sunflower and sesame in the luteal. Cod liver oil in the folliculr, evening primrose in the luteal. SEED CYCLING. Look it up, ldies. I cut my symptoms down to maybe half a day of PMS and way less breast pain, joint pain, physical symptoms in general. Estrogen vs progesterone is, in my understanding, is the RATIO that creates our bodily changes during the menstrual cycle. Amazing that further research just hasn't been done... but there you have it :|

I am from Ireland and live in Germany and they don't say grass fed either. I can only speak about Ireland really but they don't say grass fed because they don't need to. All are grass fed so why would they need to pt it on the label. 300 out of 365 day in the year cows are fed grass in Ireland only when the grass stops growing in the winter do they get grass silage. Maybe it is the same in France and Germany.

The second day of keto diet today, I could move my body and clean up my room which had not happened for eight months. I will keep following your points. I need more your focused guide on a female who has menopause and overweight. Also, some suggestions on some Japanese traditional food such as Natou, Kinako, Tofu, Sesame oil and Soya source would be helpful as well.
