My knee pain went away since being on keto. I could hardly walk on it. Its a miracle. Im 47 i started keto Jan 12 at 310lbs now im 238 on my way down to 180. Its working amazing so far.
rodman410 I think you're missing the point. While weight loss does assist in less pressure on the joints, it's only a portion of the reduction in pain. Keto done right, is the largest factor in reducing pain, as it greatly reduces inflammation within the body. He spoke about this for a large portion of the video. People who have joint problems have pain even when not walking, which is why walking itself is next to impossible for many.
Timestamps / main points: 11:09 - Increase protein intake to around 30%. 12:29 - Eat more cruciferous vegetables (Broccoli, Bok choy, cauliflower, etc) except for women with thyroid issues. 14:46 - Women should consume a small amount of healthy organic Phytoestrogens (such as Edamame) 15:13 - Add lots of turmeric and curcumin to your diet (even add it to your bulletproof coffee!) 15:43 - Find good sources of collagen (either from normal food, or from supplements) 16:10 - Do one longer term fast per week (24 hours or more) instead of intermittent fasting, to regrow stem cells. 17:58 - Add more minerals to your diet (sodium, potassium, salt, etc) and stay well hydrated. 18:44 - Eat foods which are easy to digest (ground beef / chicken, etc) 19:05 - Consume lots of pre-biotic fibres (lots of asparagus, artichoke, swiss chard, etc)
Coming from a traditional foods and paleo approach, my keto diet has included all of these. These are all the things that seem generally healthy, keto or not, except for increased mineral intake that is specifically important for keto.
@@josephpacetexas Yes, I'm 42 and have lost about 30lbs by doing a Keto diet and a little more exercise (long walks, and some light weight training) over the last year or so, definitely works well!
I am a female over 50 and suffering awfully with hot flushes. Myself and my husband have been doing keto for 5 weeks, even in this short time my hormones seemed to have levelled out. It has been life changing. We would love more tips for over 40 on keto. Thanks Thomas you are inspirational regards Janet.
I'm 46, been 100% lazy keto for 22.5 months now, and as of yesterday, I hit the 100lb lost. Thomas, you've been an inspiration, and a wealth of knowledge since day one. Thank you!
@@amylchapman I don't count calories or macros. I look at the nutrition label( when I have a packaged item, which is rare), if the carb content meets my 5g, or less, limit I set for myself, and the ingredients( 5 ingredients per item is my limit) meet my liking, I'll eat it. No counters Simple ingredients I want more fat, I add more butter Simple. Proven. Successful
Hi Mike I'm also 46 but I'm a little confused I was wondering if you did any fasting. In this video he says to brake a fast with like a steak 90 protien and little fat and then in another video he says to break a fast with a fat or bullet proof coffee can u help me with this
Nearing ninth decade here -- keto for 70-days. Great results. You and Berg are my go-to keto-gurus. Your comments on RS (Weird Carbs: Your Body & “Resistant” Starch) prompted researching and adding RS rice and legumes to my keto diet and already seeing benefits. Better health and vitality all around -- working out 30-min a day now; my goal is to get the nonagenarian equivalent of ripped like you :) Thanks!
Thomas - great content as usual. I’m 52 and been keto for over 8 years and started IF recently. Dropped over 60lbs in my first year from 230 down to 167. I have been able to keep the weight off even if I go on week long “benders” when I’m on vacation. I get back to my now normal way of eating and 2 weeks later I’m back to the same weight and seeing my abs again. In better shape now than when I was in university - and also using a lower pant size than then (even though I was in decent shape at that point). Keep up the good work and keep the info for us old-timers coming. Much appreciated!
I only been doing keto and intermittent fasting a year but I'm having a similar experience I dropped 50 lb in the first 4 to 5 months and I'm keeping it off easily. and I'm able to go on a week-long binge every now and then.
Paleo Lithic ... this is awesome anecdotal inspiration for me! I’m 46 and I have stalled, even gone backwards in my midsection, thought I’m. Is more vascular in my limbs (calves too!). I’m just gonna put my head down and keep on keepin’ on!
A Door Has A Knob Thank you for your kind note. Keep at it and don’t get discouraged - I went through ups and downs in my weight and at times it stalled for 3-4 weeks only to then drop with a vengeance for the next 3-4...it won’t be linear but you have to trust it. I found that mine stalls mostly if I’m adding too much fat (easy to do as it is so darn tasty!!!)...😂 Keep us posted and I am confident you will reach your goals - all the best!
Started Keto the year I turned 50. That was 2 years and 60lbs. ago. I was very excited to watch this video. Would love to see more content for the “older crowd “ especially regarding workouts.
Turning 50 in 3 months and thanks to you, Thomas, and dr Berg’s videos, I look and feel better than I did at 40. Thank you for your scientifically sound and practically informative videos.
Yes would love to see more for peri- menopause, menopause ladies and more on raising hormone levels with Keto and controlling symptoms such as bloating.
Also, can you talk about collagen and the different types, natural and supplements. I live in India, so I can't order the supplements but I can make bone broth!
I'm 42, I started the keto diet in the end of July. It's now the end of October, and I've lost 80 lbs. Not just that, but I've lost a lot more size than would normally be associated with that loss of lbs. I have gone from a size 18/20 to a 10/12.
I’m 70 & have been KETO for 2+ years, have lost 50 lbs. & went from an A1C of 6.8 to A1C of 5.3 with no meds. I, too appreciate any tips that will help me to lose an additional 20 lbs. at my age.
@@ceejayo.5498 you are amazing!!! i have been stalling starting my full keto, being 'kind' to myself, but this is real motivation and if you dont mind me saying a wake up call, i am 49 and nearly 300lb and would not like to be still 'trying' in 20 years. Thank you
Suzanne - I know you can do it! Believe in yourself. Also, NO cheats! KETO only works if you stick to the regiment - if you cheat, you make it impossible to stay in ketosis, so you’re having to start all over again every time you cheat. Make it easy on yourself by getting into ketosis and staying there. With so many great KETO recipes for everything from pizza to ice cream, I really don’t feel like I’m on a diet. This has become a way of life for me!
@@ceejayo.5498 thank you sooo much, I am feeling good and on day 4, have lost 4 lb. I will take your advice have heard alot of talk about cheat days, but will steer clear and look up alternative recipes. Trying to sneek alternative in to family too. Off to find recipes. keto pizza sound good!
THANK YOU THOMAS!!!! I just turned 59 and lost 35 lbs after being on Keto for 15 months 👏🏽❤️ Recovery time is less than 2 days now opposed to 1 week and taking ibuprofen. No knee pain, no more acid reflux, no allergies.... my body feels great! 👍🏽
I'm 43 and lost over 50lbs. In 6 months. I had to slow down on keto and Omad fasting, I'm 6'2 and have always been around 210. I dropped down to 156 and lost 8 inches off my waist before I knew it! People at work thought I was sick and my family thought I was suffering from anorexia but I always felt fine. I stopped Omad and still do keto put a few pounds back on but kept my new wast size. All that being said The best thing is my blood pressure has gone back to normal doing keto and I don't have to take medication for it anymore. I does work!...
I'm 43 lost over 60, did a refeed after a year and it threw me off the wagon...drop kicked me way the hell off actually. I plateaued for 3 months and thought it would help. Now I'm on day 80 of zero cheats and doing very well. Incorporate 20 hour fasting and that has taken me to a whole new level.
Congrats on your great success and achievements! I'm 59, 6'1" , have T2 Diabetes for 20+ years. Was 360 lbs in Feb 2018. Began Keto, added IF a few months later. Lost 70 lbs but not much noticeable body fat. Blood Sugars came down quite a bit. So on Mother's Day I quit taking my insulin and began eating OMAD with generally 20 - 24 hours between meals. Have lost 16 lbs since, and more importantly a few inches off my waist. Feeling great, plenty of energy, blood sugar levels within "normal" range although I wish they would get consistently lower. (85 - 95 instead of 105 - 115)
I would love to have something about what a balanced keto diet looks like both with intermittent fasting and without. Especially for women over 40. Like meal plans for a day or week would be very helpful. I need ideas on how and what to eat. Thanks.
Most certainly...I'm 52 and have struggled with weight loss. Always doing the new diet and losing, but quickly gaining it and more back on. I want this to be a live changing way of saying, so more supportive and informational videos on keto over 50 would be great and maybe geared for me and women separately.
Over 40 started keto 5 weeks ago no more lower back pain my hair is growing back my muscles are pumping up like crazy l've lost my gut fat love handles sleeping like a baby waking up with more energy I could go on but my life had changed thanks to people like you Thomas
I'd like to know why weight loss is more difficult as you get older. Before keto nothing seemed to shift the weight. I'd also like to know what the best workouts are for people over 40. Im 48 btw. Love your work!! . Hope to see more on this subject soon 🙂.
I am 68. I have been eating Keto since last January. The inflammation and pain caused by arthritis has disappeared. A thousand thanks for all your good advice Thomas! 💕
I appreciate that you are addressing older people, I’m over 65 and would like to hear more targeted videos for my age. My doctor is extremely negative on the KETO diet and is concerned about my cholesterol. I’ve lost 50 lbs and this July will be 1 year since starting the KETO life style. I listen to you each week.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.....I'm 68 and have been on Keto for about a year...lots of weight loss, also loss of that cortisol effect that had my shoulders up around my ears...have taken steroids off and on for health issues for 40 some odd years but now doctors are taking me off some daily non-steroid meds and my routine blood tests come back with beautifully normal results...one thing I started about a week ago: I added a Kelp supplement (can't stand the taste of those dried Kelp sheets!) which is one vegetarian capsule daily WOW! i've never gotten the energy surge with Keto despite all other benefits...NOW I have energy, a desire to get up early in the morning and the motivation to get on with things I'm always planning in my head but never doing...for years I've been taking a low amount of thyroid (synthroid) but it didn't help my energy increase.
This Channel and Thomas's knowledge has been a god send for myself! I am 44 Diagnosed with RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) a few years ago On Feb 16th I changed my life completely with this channel and the keto Diet. Walking every day 6-8 km working with weights and recently joined a gym. I go to the gym 3 days on and take 1 off then do it all over again! Feb 16th I weighed in at 237 lbs today I am 184 lbs and feel fantastic and in pretty much the best shape of my life! I'm no muscle man by any means but I am not stopping! The keto Diet has reduced inflammation in my body drastically and reduced the pain I was feeling 24/7 that I have not touched a pain pill since Feb. I've lost 53 lbs of fat and gained muscle that I never new I could.. Thank you Thomas DeLauer. Anyone that ask's me how I did it? I give them the link to this channel and tell them this is how I did it with the help and knowledge of someone who takes the time to explain the science behind it!
I'm 60 and 100 days ago I made up my mind to lose 60 lbs by doing keto. Your videos were some of the very first ones I found and they have been a huge help to me! I'm a bit of a science/medical nerd so I just love the info you give. I've lost 30 lbs so far and I am feeling fantastic. I do a 24 hr fast 3 times a week. I didn't even consider my age when I started this but I think it would be great to hear more about how I can or should be doing things differently at 60. I'm fascinated by the subject of autophagy! By the way, brain fog was a problem before keto and I thought I just had to accept it as part of getting older - not so! I'm sharper than I have been in years!
Great video. I’m 46 and have been Keto for 3+ years. I lost 110lbs and now strength train up to 6 x per week. I don’t feel the same energy as I did in the beginning and presume it’s peri-menopausal systems (lots of what you talked about in this video). Expanding on more would be amazing! Thank you!
I started Keto because I turned 40, and I was really sad about that number, also I have been overweight for majority of it. I needed a way to get out of the funk of “40” Health problems including hypothyroidism, heartburn, debilitating migraines, diabetes, body aches, and the new one this year was heel spur and plantar fasciitis! The 7 weeks I’ve been on Keto, I haven’t lost a ton of weight, but enough to see physical changes, and a major decrease in migraines, body aches, and increased energy. Your videos are so helpful! 🙌🏼
Thomas said we should eat more proteins. I see that a bit critically. Proteins increase insulin levels (about 50% of the same amount of carbohydrates). Consuming proteins is good, but should not be too much. Most calories should come from good fat. All other recommendations were consensual.
I'm 54 yrs old and I have been doing Keto since April. Before Keto, I was achy every day 24/7. After about 2 weeks on Keto, my inflammation completely went away. Sustainable and I feel 20 years younger plus I've lost 30 pounds. Love your videos! I watch all of them!!
Yes more videos like this... I'm 50! More uses for tumeric and why... How to best improve collagen... Best ways to manage trace minerals... Good annual plan for daily intermittent fasting (one meal a day), versus longer fasts of 24-72 hours, versus 72- 240 hours... Thanks!
Husband & I started keto in June 2017 as a solution for high cholesterol & inflammation following his heart attack & 4 stents installed. He was 70, I was 65. We have since experienced the best lipid panels of our lives, at a cholesterol ratio of 2.0, and are no longer pre-T2 diabetic. We eat 2 meals a day, BP coffee & dinner. Please note turmeric is contra indicated if one is on blood thinner, because it is a blood thinner.
In my seventieth year. My hair is growing dark again. The other day, someone thought that I am about fifty. 😂🧙♂️🇧🇦 More work to do yet. Went from BMI 30/31 to 22/23.
Appears I am not the only oldie that thinks you rock Thomas. (I am 74). (In UK) You are providing the knowledge to create a more healthy approach to staying in decent order. Something that doesn't even register with most doctors here. Can't thank you enough. I forward a lot of content to my kids too; then they can never say that they could not make a huge positive contribution to their own futures.
Yes! Same here, need more info for women our age! I’m 48 and stalled out hardcore on keto recently. Nothing seems to work! So glad Thomas is addressing the issue for us older folks!
This is my tenth day on Keto and I've noticed my body movements are more fluid and efficient. My over active sinuses have cleared up and my sense of smell has improved. I'm 61 and confident I've made the right choice for dietary health.
Thank you for including diverse microbium ratios. Starting to do Keto the following way. Using ACV with cinnamon, salt, lemon juice and AC, green tea. 30 minutes later greek yogart, 3 med raw eggs (pasture fed and it is easier on my stomach than cooked eggs though, I get a hankering for cooked eggs sometimes), and a 3 cup green veggie, lemon and avocado smoothie. 30 to 60 minutes Force of Nature 100% pasture fed ground beef, heart and liver - 8 oz., cup of green beans and organic julienned carrots. I find if I do the liquid and soupy type foods first, no heartburn so far. Used Carlson's super fish oil and Carlson's cod liver oil, extra avocado, MCT organic oil and 1 T of butter for my beans. Mix carrots with the meat. 1475 gr of salt today. I use MyfitPal so I can track my nutrients and so I can reference what I ate in the past if I need to tweek something. Thank you again for your expertise.
Yes!!!! Please keep these over 40 videos coming. I would love to hear more about fasted work outs and how to not gas out so quickly while working out over 40 specifically for women Love all your videos always very informative
I’m 41, you and Dr berg are amazing, I pretty much watch you guys videos everyday, learn alot and I went from 240 to now 175 through IM and keto. Took me about 15 months, making this change was best thing for my body, thank you so much..
When I started I fasted 18 hours a day with two three day fasts once a week (did for first month) don't do the 3 day one anymore, but once every couple weeks I go 24. I'm way too active to keep up the hardcore one (two on feet moving jobs and lift weights).
I am 48 and do IF with a 48-hr fast every week plus try to stick to a 'keto-like' lifestyle. I workout six days a week. I feel the best I've ever felt! I rarely have aches and pains anymore (had lots in my 20s and 30s). I don't have to work hard at looking trim and find it so easy to follow. Love you Thomas; you are doing great work. So smart.
Hi, I'm 42 and I have been doing keto for two months now and I am seeing great results; I want to thank you a lot because I have been following you and benefitting from your videos. Again thanks for this one it is really mind opening. Keto has changed y life, my energy level and my overall health.... I'd like to hear more about the subject :)
57 yrs old, stage 3B kidney disease. Six months ago, started Keto and regular gym exercise. GFR increased by 7 pts. My nephrologist does not recommend keto, tells me to eat more carbs. Put carbs back in the diet for 3 months. Kidney function dropped by 5 pts. Going full keto and longer IF fasting to see if I can improve kidneys further. I hope I'm doing the right thing.
As always great job Thomas. 44 years old lost over 40 pounds on keto following your advice feel amazing and looking pretty damn good still working on that six pack but hopefully soon
Thomas, thank you very much for this. My wife and I are both over 40 and doing keto and intermittent fasting, the advice of consuming more protein actually caight me by surprise. August will be my one year anniversary on keto and I have lost 75lbs while on keto. I have lost 110 lbs overall. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! you are the man!!!
More power to you, your comment doesn't nothing close to 60. You sound much younger, once again shows age is nothing but a number, well not completely, but you get the point. To another 60 years of wild rides for you, in a good way lol!
I’m 58 years old and I’ve lost 80lbs since September 2018. Keto saved my life. I was diagnosed with a Severe Fatty Liver, but also Hemochromatosis which adversely affected my Liver. Last summer my waist exploded to 60”. My weight had ballooned to 321lbs. I’m so grateful for Thomas’ videos. I’ve learned so much - even a couple of days ago - I hit a see-saw in my weight loss progress. Thomas instructed that one should “eat fat with fat” or “eat lean protein with minimal carbs.” It worked. I ate Carnivore the last couple of days to experiment the “eat fat with fat” method, and I’ve lost 4lbs in 2 days. Thanks Thomas.
FANTASTIC info! I’m 45 this year, my husband 44. I’ve been on lazy keto for one year this weekend. My husband hasn’t been. I’ve had heredity driven high cholesterol for a loooong time and recently had my medicine lowered. I also lost 35 pounds but have recently found your page and am very much REmotivated. I’d love to see maybe an over 40, beginners grocery haul or list and maybe some recipes of the like. Thank you Thomas for your super informative videos and motivation!
This is soooooo true re: lactate clearing out more quickly. I have been NOTABLY less sore after stepped-up workouts. So cool to hear some science to back up my anecdotal experience (I'm 51, btw)
Just hitting week 4 of keto. No cheating. Very insulin resistant and glucose still running high. I have only lost 5lbs. I am recomping but a bit frustrated, however, holding strong. I'm also doing 14hr fast. Had to shorten the window to get my protein. I would love to understand Keto for those of use healing a metabolic disorder such as insulin resistance and prediabetes. Thanks for all you do! Also 47yo female.
I recently fell off keto and weekly fasting (about 36 hrs) and my joints went crazy! I hadn't had any problems with them for several months while improving my diet. Thank you for explaining why. This will help motivate me to get back to a better way of eating.
Great videos, I just turned 50 and started keto in March. Already down 15 pounds which is amazing for me and didn't change anything except what I was eating. I would like to see what you would do if over 40 or 50, what you would eat for meals like a meal plan (calories, fat, protein etc) what supplements to take and workouts (cardio, weight lifting) Thanks and keep up the great work, love the show.
I'm 60, prediabetic, have high blood pressure averaging 145/84 WITH meds, and have osteoarthritis...I've had 3 back surgeries and am looking at a hip replacement. I've been on the keto diet for 1 month and have only lost 3 pounds, and a half an inch in my waist. I'm a fairly muscular female and I exercise regularly, but since menopause, all my weight has concentrated around my midsection. I went on keto for the reasons you discussed: to reduce inflammation, lower blood sugar and blood pressure, and lose weight. I've decided to give keto 4 months, but right now, the 3 pound loss is quite discouraging after hearing how much everyone else seems to lose in one month!
I am 60 and started May 2nd IF 23 hrs. Keto for two weeks. I have been taking MCT oil with coffee early morning but afraid it is breaking my fast? Today I took MCT OIL 1tbdp. to stop my fast first time. I ate my meal but wasn't to hungry. Within 30min. It all came up! Yuk I ate alot of veg cooked in bacon along with chicken. Do you think the bacon fat did it? I love your videos I watch all of them! Game changer for me. Thank you soooo much.
This is so timely for me. I decided to go off my statin drugs because of the side effects (muscle aching and cognitive). My doctor's office called and she wants a phone conversation appointment regarding my decision to not refill my prescription. My blood pressure has never been so low, and I have greatly reduced joint aching, etc. I will be re-listening to this video and writing down info on cholesterol that you have so clearly explained. Thanks for giving me the information and confidence in making this decision. My mother and grandfather had Alzheimer's, and I don't want to take a drug that would lend itself to an increased risk for this.
I'm over 70 and have been on "modified" keto (under 50 grams) for 18 months and doing extensive fasting. I've lost 20 lbs and will never go back. My question: is there any difference in keto between over 40 and over 70? BTW my scale tells my that I'm at 16% body fat with a BMI of 24.5. I get aerobic and anaerobic workouts in twice a week and yes, the recovery time doesn't allow for more, plus the danger of overuse injuries is enhanced at my age. Love the videos. Nathan
im 40, and drink whisky everyday. Been on keto for 2 years but I have more protein than your usual Keto diet and have a cheat day once a month. Lost 20 KG from start date. I eat 4 eggs a day, a lot of greens, pork and vitamin C tablet everyday....... Still slaying women like I was in my 20's..... Keto is the best
Thank you! Thank you! LOVE watching your channel. Your story so reminds me of my Son#2. Although we had already been gluten-free, because we found he was Celiac (which changed my health hugely), three years later we found he had a gene for Reactive Arthritis (HLA B-27). We eliminated dairy, turned that gene off, and he very easily dropped 125lbs over a 2-year span. Today, 16yrs later, he is the picture of health, although the doctors told us there was nothing they could do. I just turned 65, so this is immensely helpful! As a health coach, I've been teaching gluten-free and blood-type nutrition forever, as it helped us reverse so many things, but I tip-toed into the keto world. I am NO longer tip-toeing, because I am LOVING how I feel. I've always kept an open mindset, have done IF for years, but this "old dog" has learned some new tricks and is embracing the keto lifestyle. PLEASE do more for those over 40, but especially over 50! There are a LOT of us out there. :)
I did keto in my twenties and it was awesome. I did it again now at 50 for two years and it worked, as least for me , the same as before. I found Keto to be as hard as it is easy. Friends trying to sabotage you is a constant. I fell off the wagon and under the wheel so to say now HAVE TO get in the frame of mind to go back. I felt and looked like my younger self!
I think his list-making services cost $. I think he'd like you to buy his food through Thrive. You might do yourself a favor and get the book, "Eat Rich, Live Long" and get a CAC heart calcium scan.
Thank you! I started Leto two weeks ago and have lost about 18lbs. My husband isn’t losing and the keto flu is hitting him kind of hard but I have experienced none of it. My experience has been awesome! I am a 30yo woman and he is a 40yo man lol so this video came st the most perfect time!
Founds your Channel about 3 weeks ago. Went Keto a few years back...and did some things wrong, kept tuned in to all the different ways of eating to maximize vitality and performance over the past few years, tried various things. Nothing clicked. Now, with your guidance, I went Keto 3 weeks ago and am feeling great! I am a trail marathoner and ultra runner, long distance cyclists, and avid outdoors person. I turn 42 at the end of this month and I'm feeling great. Wish Thrive Market shipped to Canada...hoping that is something that perhaps may happening in the near future. Thanks for your videos and all your information. You sure do know your stuff. And with this new lifestyle, I'm excited to be able to live a long healthy energetic life with my kids! Cheers!
43. I do most of these! The longer fast is new, I've been working on 20 hour daily fasts. Half the time I make it but have been breaking it with a BPC at 18 hours. Some days I can go 21 hours but the average is 19. My goal is to do 1 24 hour fast a week. Its totally achievable. The protein I have been doing around 25%. A 4-6 eating window has been helpful with calorie control. Little to no snacking.
im 40 and been on Keto for 2 months and no weight loss. Im sticking to it because its just healthier in my opinion, plus my husband is type 1 diabetic and so it encourages him to be "good". I love love love all your vids thanks for taking the time to explain this stuff to the 40 peeps !!
Thanks for all the advice. 41 years young. Been on the keto for 4 weeks now. Lost 8kg to date. Numbers have slowed down. Lot more energy and feeling great.
I don't know how many people are in your team, but you have a great ability to address the issues that are relevant to your audience. You also make the most abundant and useful info in your content. Thanks, and you really changed my life
56 been doing keto for 2 weeks and feel a ton better. Lower back and hip pain I've had for 3+ years is almost gone. More energy, etc. 2 heart attacks, 1 at 44 and one at 49. 5 stents in 3 arteries. 5'7 over weight in the belly. Prediabetic and need to lose the fat and change my insulin resistance. All my number were great before I went keto except my fasting blood sugar was at 142. Figured if I took keto seriously I could reverse my prediabetes or diabetes depending on who you talk to. I love your info and will follow as much as I can. Don't have keto flu. Did on day 3 but it went away. I feel pretty darn good. No big weight loss yet but I love the way I feel and think. Brain fog is way better, think better. =) Thank you. Send me a message if you want.
thank you for this video and all your healthful and helpful videos. some of us are even older than 40, i'm 70, do you recommend anything differently for us?
I'm 67 and into my 6th week on keto. Making much bone broth, veggies, I lived off oat meal and must be careful to take in enough calories. Fearful to begin a water fast due to my activity... 2-4 hours of bicycling and more often. I love the muscle reaction and gout seems to be more temporary.
Great video. I'd like to see what you suggest for keto and exercise types for people over 65 who have led a sedentary life. Am now retired and in this boat. Thank you.
Great info for us over 40! I've been doing keto since Jan. 2019, down 30 lbs so far, but I still struggles with meal prep (what to eat). So videos for us over 40s about meal prep ideas for those fasting, for those not fasting, for OMAD, best times to fast for us, impact of high blood pressure, etc. would be fantastic.
Good stuff- I turn 60 the end of next month; dehydration and joint pain in concert with muscle strains. . . Not all that different from my younger days. I 4-6hrs of sleep when I am in solid ketosis prompted me to cycle in and out, with the addition of salt to my daily water intake and some quiet time before sleeping seems to mitigate the affects. . . Muscle cramping will follow the salt intake if it is inadequate... . 5'10"/200lbs/59 yrs
I went off keto and my body developed so many problems, like lupus and joint pain. Right now my feet are swollen and I have cankles. I have never had that in my life. Starting back on keto today and can’t wait for 72 hours to go by
I turned 50 in January. Need all the advice I can get. I How about video of meal plans, work outs, anything to keep us in shape, less inflammation/arthritis pain. Life is too short not to be the best we can be. Thank you Thomas and your team.
I am over 60. I have been researching this for some time now and doing what I can to follow the idea. I have recently lost 20 pounds, yay! But I would enjoy seeing more about ways to be my best at this phase. I let myself get heavy over the last several years and decided a month ago that I am tired of it, I was feeling bad, I have a few health issues that I am sure will be helped by my staying on this way of eating. I enjoy learning what I have learned so far, thank you Thomas DeLauer. I will keep watching for some old folks videos, lol.
I'm not sure if you've been asked a lot about this but I would REALLY love to see a look at the effects of ketones and fasting for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Thanks for another great video Thomas. 💪🏻🥩👍🏻
My knee pain went away since being on keto. I could hardly walk on it. Its a miracle. Im 47 i started keto Jan 12 at 310lbs now im 238 on my way down to 180. Its working amazing so far.
Congrats! Keep up the good effort.
I bet your awesome amount of weight loss is the main reason the knee pain went away, good job.
Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
rodman410 I think you're missing the point.
What is your macros? I'm at 185 and have been confused for weeks and will not start until I have my macros right. 3.2 ounces is not right imo.
I’ve lost 111 pounds on the Keto diet. I’m 45 years young. I’ve found these videos very helpful! Keep them coming!!!
Timestamps / main points:
11:09 - Increase protein intake to around 30%.
12:29 - Eat more cruciferous vegetables (Broccoli, Bok choy, cauliflower, etc) except for women with thyroid issues.
14:46 - Women should consume a small amount of healthy organic Phytoestrogens (such as Edamame)
15:13 - Add lots of turmeric and curcumin to your diet (even add it to your bulletproof coffee!)
15:43 - Find good sources of collagen (either from normal food, or from supplements)
16:10 - Do one longer term fast per week (24 hours or more) instead of intermittent fasting, to regrow stem cells.
17:58 - Add more minerals to your diet (sodium, potassium, salt, etc) and stay well hydrated.
18:44 - Eat foods which are easy to digest (ground beef / chicken, etc)
19:05 - Consume lots of pre-biotic fibres (lots of asparagus, artichoke, swiss chard, etc)
Very nice. I have some ADD and this helps a lot. So does keto, for that matter. It's like energizing and chill at the same time.
Thx for this!
SoundsToBlowYourMind legend, Thank you.
Thank you!
Mike Mcneil What is lazy Keto? Sounds like something I need...lol
@@amylchapman I don't count calories or macros. I look at the nutrition label( when I have a packaged item, which is rare), if the carb content meets my 5g, or less, limit I set for myself, and the ingredients( 5 ingredients per item is my limit) meet my liking, I'll eat it.

Agreed. Thomas and Dr. Berg are the best resources.
Also with his boosted my endurance for long endurance cycling events.
Paleo Lithic ... this is awesome anecdotal inspiration for me! I’m 46 and I have stalled, even gone backwards in my midsection, thought I’m. Is more vascular in my limbs (calves too!).
I’m just gonna put my head down and keep on keepin’ on!
A Door Has A Knob
Thank you for your kind note. Keep at it and don’t get discouraged - I went through ups and downs in my weight and at times it stalled for 3-4 weeks only to then drop with a vengeance for the next 3-4...it won’t be linear but you have to trust it. I found that mine stalls mostly if I’m adding too much fat (easy to do as it is so darn tasty!!!)...😂
Keep us posted and I am confident you will reach your goals - all the best!
Old-timers? Bite your tongue. ;0)
Yes, please for more videos for those of us over 40! If you could sprinkle in some anti-aging ideas, even better. thanks!

Antioxidants are very good for anti-aging.
@@annapomelo3818 I agree :). But which ones and how much specifically for anti-aging. There are a lot of super foods out there :).
73 been keto for three years. Thanks first advice for older peeps.
Ceejay O. Great advice you can do it!

THANK YOU THOMAS!!!! I just turned 59 and lost 35 lbs after being on Keto for 15 months 👏🏽❤️
Recovery time is less than 2 days now opposed to 1 week and taking ibuprofen.
(85 - 95 instead of 105 - 115)
What is Omad fasting?

I'd like to know why weight loss is more difficult as you get older. Before keto nothing seemed to shift the weight. I'd also like to know what the best workouts are for people over 40. Im 48 btw. Love your work!! . Hope to see more on this subject soon 🙂.
Slower metabolism
Hit cardio or Tabata works really well.
So happy to be fasting while watching this! A blessed Ramadan - month of fasting - to whoever is observing.

Thanks for thinking of us over 40!!!

Thank you so much. Yes please more for over 50 too

Thank you Thomas. I recommend a lot of your videos to my patients, they are very informative and helpful. Keep up the good work.
Do you recommend any modifications on the Keto diet after age 50 and 60 or what you said after age 40 go for all ages after 40?
Thank you once again. As a nurse, I can relate to you so much more do to the research you do and then explain in your videos.
You are just so amazing! Thx for thinking about us over 40++++.I am so happy I found you here, you explain it all so so well!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH THOMAS. I AM 64. LOOKING VERY YOUNG. THIS VIDEO HAS REALY HELPED ME.!!!
Thank you! :)
Anything different if 60 and older?
Thank you for all your TH-cam videos! Fantastic
Could you make a chart/list of top 10 foods for those of us over 40. Thanks
"Recovery is everything" 👍👍👍
Thanks for all you do. Great video
Cheers!
Keto and intermittent fasting is the only way I can keep the perimenopausal weight off.
Simone Conti I’m headed there myself, thank you. This helps a lot. It means that I’m on the right track
Thanks, and you really changed my life
Thanks, Thomas. Great information! Yes, please do more videos on keto over 40.
Glad to know I’m doing everything right .
Would love an in-depth video for seniors over 65. Thanks Thomas. Have learned lots from you.
thank you for this video and all your healthful and helpful videos. some of us are even older than 40, i'm 70, do you recommend anything differently for us?
Thanks for the over 40 video! What about OMAD for women over 40 with a keto life style?
Good question. I’m finding just mixing it up for me seems to help. Some OMAD, some IF, EF, etc. If I stick to just keto I stalk out for months.
How about working out on Keto for the over 40 & 50 crowd? That would be a great video
Yaass! 👏🏾
Yes! My husband keeps thinking he needs way more protein than he’s getting because he wants big muscles
I went off keto and my body developed so many problems, like lupus and joint pain. Right now my feet are swollen and I have cankles. I have never had that in my life. Starting back on keto today and can’t wait for 72 hours to go by
Thanks for the over 40 info. Not many people cover the issue. Great informative videos.
I turned 50 in January. Need all the advice I can get. I How about video of meal plans, work outs, anything to keep us in shape, less inflammation/arthritis pain. Life is too short not to be the best we can be. Thank you Thomas and your team.
Man this was great! I am 51 and was already doing a lot of this, but I need to do more prolonged fasts.
I can confirm prolonged fasting (I do two a week) is the way to go. I'm 70 :) you got a ways to go.
