    Maharaj, your talks just make me cry!! Everytime I have tears pouring down my eyes!! I cannot describe with what emotion, but it seems a mix of everything and a longing to realize!! I have stumbled across your lectures at one of the darkest moments of my life and they have helped me sail through, and miraculously even the Universe seems to have given me the time to heal. Everything around me has slowed down allowing me to drudge on through these times. May the blessings of Thakur, Maa, and Swamiji be on all of us.

    Pujya swamiji ! Pranaam ! Many people ask you many questions and you always respond very calmly, we learn a lot from certain questions-answers. As a curious student of Vedanta, I am learning and one question always occurs in my mind that how a seeker use this knowledge in his day-to-day life particularly during challenging situations like unexpected behaviours from the close relatives resulting in financial losses, mental shocks as to how he/she can behave like this without any fault of mine ! It is intriguing to learn from the scriptures to maintain peace of the mind even during toughest situations ! Your lectures help me a lot. Pranaam !

    Dear Swami Ji,
    My name is Sumit, I've been listening to your lectures for a few months now.
    While listening to one of your lectures where you gave the example of ocean, waves and water, even though I completely understand what you’re trying to convey, I realised that our existence, the one where we think, feel, judge, experience, know, which we can either call the ego (the I) or the mind, is what makes us different from others. And I get it that, we’re not that existence at all, we’re the pure consciousness which is the same in everybody. But the thought that’s troubling me is that we as the subtle body (mind), feel, know & experience the things around us. Once the subtle body is gone, that who feels, would also be gone & the thing that’d be left behind is the pure consciousness which we can’t feel or see or even experience whilst we’re alive let alone feeling it after the death of this body. Then how is it that we claim to be that pure consciousness which we can never feel, see or experience whilst we’re alive and which apparently would continue to exist even after we’re (this body and mind) gone.
    Isn’t this enlightenment also of the mind, is it wrong to say that we “feel” enlightened? The point being, the end of body is the end of mind until it takes another birth, another form and with the body gone there’d be no one left to feel the bliss or the inner peace that we’ve been struggling to achieve all our lives.
    I hope my question's making sense. Hoping to hear from you.
    Thank you Swami ji

    • @say2be
      @say2be 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The simple(!) answer is that this false I is the jiva. It is a bundle of this Pure Consciousness (permanent), overlaid with the Mind and the Body (both temporary). We, the jivas, identify so strongly with the body and mind, and have forgotten that we ARE the Pure Consciousness (due to Maya, the beginning-less ignorance, if you will; but it has an end when you are enlightened), which is always, and everywhere, and unaffected by anything. By actions performed with the body and mind, karma is created and (the results) attach to this jiva, and "colors" it (vaasana), that is, some qualities are enhanced and some are attenuated in this life. Pure Consciousness has no such "colors." When this body passes away, this jiva, with the coloring, is what transmigrates to take on another body, taking its ignorance and modified set of colors (compared to the time it had when it took on this body). So the mind is not all gone at the death of the body -- just look at the different qualities of two babies both born about the same time (with their different initial vaasanas for that birth).
      At Enlightenment, this *I* is recognized as the Pure Consciousness, which it has always been and ever unchanging, and the body and mind are recognized as "never I" (but appearances in Pure Consciousness, like a person's dream objects). At that point, the mind falls away (merges with the subtle elements where it came from), and one lives as JivanMuktha, or self realized when living. At the body's death, it also merges with the gross elements where is came from.
      Enlightenment is the jiva realizing it has always been the Pure Consciousness and was never the body or mind. [As body and mind drop away, the always shining, but previously occluded Real I is realized.]
      ==
      One can refine this further to the point there has never been anything other than Brahman. So there is nothing "other" for it to see, so IT IS, or "I AM" is all that can be said.

    The Swami always succeeds in inspiring, but not always in enlightening.
    A clarification of what is a jeeva, and in what sense is it finally ब्रह्म, Brahman is critical to make this talk more than a mostly inspiring, but not enlightening words.
    One ends up with a WOW!, and definite, if passing elation, and also a frustrating, “so what”.
    More like a great artist, than a great master.
    I must’ve heard 50 of his lectures- clearly find him edifying- and maybe 150 of other advaitins. The popular teachers all follow the “infomercial” format. They promise a lot, paint the outcome is amazing words, festoon the “product offering” with fabulous promises, but don’t really ever make a promise that is clear and falsifiable (in a scientific sense). You cannot say, what exactly is the relationship between that which is losing ignorance (the chidaabhaasa), and the aatma-Brahma. Does the chidaabhaas cure itself of its ignorance?

    Swamiji is amazing
    Forever indebted and grateful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
    How beautiful he explained the verse of Astavakra, We (from a blade of grass to humans) who thinks itself as a limited sentient being is none other than the Vast infinite easeness ocean of Awareness is which the entire universal manifestation plays around like a boat.
    Creation (bigbang or by the means hyperdimentional membrane theory which string theories says). Dissolution (everything getting contracted into a black hole). Our ever repeating experiencial cycle of birth, death, rebirth is just an appearance in us the infinite.
    Pure consciousness can exist independently but if the reflected consciousness (the sentient being) says I'm the infinite Brahman than that's absolutely perfect becoz the appearance cannot exists without the real & the reflected consciousness is false, its Brahman all along the one dimensional reality which gives existence to this entire play of causality & we are that infinite, ever the witness and never the witnessed helplessly Choicelessly So.
    It's time to calm ur Neurons.

And, YOU ARE THAT...You have always a choice to remain limited if you choose so but deep down the seed of infinite in you which lies there silently will never let you be convinced that you are limited... Thus, we crave for freedom... Happiness... Peace!! We start playing... Close our eyes and enjoy... But imagine how long?? For our very nature... The seed of bliss which can never die... Was never born won't let that false notion to set in forever... Because we... All of us are THAT... INDEED WE ARE ONE in the truest sense... One!!

    Thank you for this speech. You have confirmed a lot of my own meditation on this. Also a lifetime of study and useless education. I’m not sure if it’s funny or sad that our so-called modern intellectuals are so brainwashed and lost they couldn’t reason back to origins.

    That which is vast is immortal. The vast is limitless. That is why in one of the Upanishafa it is said that take whole from whole and whole remains. Purna theke purna nile purna e thake.
    Maharaaj your mathematical treatment of experience as sentient beings is beautiful idea. Consciousness +object= experience. Our mind is like a screen r experience gets reflected there. For a person who is dead, there is no experience because the mind as screen stops functioning.
    Sab shes a bolbo aparakkhanuvuti(part iii) apni bolechhen ekjan senior monk from your order jini sab samaye anabil anande thakten in spite of his physical chalkenges; he was lame and blind. This lesson for me is like ambrosia. I can realize it is working wonder in my life now. Who could have done other than a monk- physician?🌷🌷🌷 Apni amar pronaam neben. I look forward to attending your classes here in kolkata again. With regards Maharaaj, kasturi.
