    ABOUT VEDANTA
    Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
    Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

    The debate really intrigued me. I cannot write or argue well in English like you all but nonetheless my understanding about Vedanta society or Swamigi has been he like a very patient mother would serve same food in different flavours and those who are hungry will come back again and again. I for one do get bored sometimes but I find myself coming back to nourish myself time and again.

    Brilliant exposition of Vedanta in practice . Swami Sarvapriyananda has made timeless wisdom easily available to us. His contribution in modern age is bigger than Adi Guru Shankaracharya and many acharyas of the yore,who did yeoman’s service to humanity in their own times and impacted the ages to come.But,to sceptical and doubting minds of present age,Sarvapriyananda ji has become a harbinger,a living reference to solve our knotty problems.Respectful pranams to Maharaj ji.

      @MM-dh3wr He intended to convey that only God exists; nothing else is real. God is the sole truth; everything else is false. God exists distinctly from everything and also manifests as the universe through Maya, like the blue hue of the sky or the silver in mother of pearl. Various colored clouds drift across the sky but never truly touch it; similarly, this world emerges and fades within God without truly impacting Him. God was not created, there is no inception in Him. He is eternal, uncreated, and omnipresent. He transcends time, space, and causation. As per cosmology, when time commences, the universe comes into being, but there is no time in God; He surpasses time. He is timeless, where everything converges.

    As far as I can see, Advaita has two parts. First they tell you the whole thing in one go: You are It. And after that, they tell it to you again and again and again in many different ways, and ad nauseam, until you finally get it into your head. They have a million stories about it, all with the same plot, but different decorations... there's no wonder, they had thousands of years spent in caves with no WiFi to come up with them. In this stuff, wherever you are, look down and you's see the footprints of a Sadu.

      @@Nonconceptuality Stopping the flow of thoughts in your head is easy. Everybody does it. How? Well, when you listen to your favorite piece of Classical music, let's say some Bach, does your mind go bla-bla -bla at you? Of course not. You are busy listening to something. The thoughts have stopped. Now listen to everything like that. It can be done.

    • @Nonconceptuality
      @Nonconceptuality หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @Greengate777 That process has nothing to do with Spiritual practice. One is simply trading one distraction for another. One must shift attention away from thoughts and sensations to find the stillness; the frame of reference upon which all experience arise and pass.
      It is the Self

    • @Greengate777
      @Greengate777 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@Nonconceptuality I know that. I gave you a key to easy meditation. It worked for me. As far as the other thing, you are correct. In my case was a simple decision and a recognition. The decision was to stop listening to my own BS. No more what if's, just what is. Every time the mind comes up with a scenario, you ask two questions: Is it here, and is it now? If the answer is no to any of those two, you dismiss the whole thing. That was the decision. The realisation is that the mind is not you, it is a mere tool at your disposal. A chatty tool, but a tool nonetheless.
