My word, that computer was dirtier than Kath's laugh !!! This time of clean is definitely an outside job, the amount of air being forced out of that thing looks incredible....never mind cleaning me keyboards I'll have to be careful this doesnt blow the key caps off ! Thanks for taking the time to review this, Mike and Kath.
My biggest tip for PC cleaning, buy a make-up brush, {think its the 'blusher' brush I bought?) really good soft bristles are great for loosening the dust.
I have one of these blowers and can say that although they are on the pricey side, They are worth every penny and way better than spending money on cans of air that last 2 minutes.
I have one of these! Mine doesn’t have the nice brush on the end, but it still gets the job done. Helps a lot with getting the smallest amounts of dust out.
I got this couple days earlier and i absolutely love it! Only negative is that is gets hot really fast, my finger on the button (used for short bursts only, not continuously) is so hot that i had to take a long break after two not so dusty PCs.
Doing the front fan of the heatsink first, you may have blown stuff into the stack, really need to blow from the back. Also, given the state of the inside of the top filter, maybe leave it off unless worried about things falling through the open mesh
with the power on this i think it would blow straight through the stack and straight out rear fan as well, this really is mad amounts of air pressure, but i understand what you are saying. yes the desks we use have pull out keyboard shelves and stuff is always falling off of them so top filters are a must
Great review, Mike! I just purchased myself a rechargeable battery one that acts as a vacuum and a blower - not as powerful as that, of course (500w in a package that small?!?!). Sure great not having run out of canned air and having to go spend money on it.
i think with these they missed a trick by not having a vac option, that is the best of both worlds. that rechargeable one sounds like a good idea, better have a look an amazon now
When I eventually go and work in an office again Im going to take it in for my IT Team to clean all the keyboards and down behind monitors etc. They go through so many cans of that compressed air stuff its just inreal.
Great video, thank! I have a question tho. What is safe dinstance to blow on your components? I am afraid that i might blow away certain parts because the current feels pretty strong.
Just out of curiosity, why are blowers used instead of vacuums when it comes to cleaning PCs? I've always thought that using blowers might blow some lose screws or parts (if any) which you might have a hard time finding after as compared to a vacuum where you can just open it and find it inside. Also, wont using a blowers might also further push the dust into other areas of the pc that will be hard to reach like say the dust from the fan of the PSU just gets pushed further inside the PSU?
As far as I know, some say that blowers generate static electricity, which is bad according to the PC gaming hivemind As for your second argument, I´d say the reasoning is: If you push it harder, it will come out eventually
a dust blower is good for raw power and removing dust from surfaces, with a vacuum you need almost twice the power to remove the same amount of dust so a blower is more efficient at removal , but more messy
Blow travels a lot further than suck, if you blow, you can feel it on your hand at arms length. Suction takes the path of least resistance, though a vacuum would quickly pull dust and fluff from the intake mesh at close quarters, it won't shift anything it's not close to. Heatsinks with a single fan normally have it in push / blowing in, as it provides a more energized airflow
Wow totally impressed...great review mike👍After a couple months of lite use front panel on my F15 is gathering dust so understand how Kath's F15 so dusty. Totally agree to use outside so not to dirty rooms! My question would be about the brush to agitate the dirt...is that safe to use on motherboard ie create static electricity? Thanks again, stay safe n dry everyone👍
i was slightly concerned about the static, but most components these days are pretty resilient so i would be more concerned about dirt and dust than static
Mike showing off blowing off. I actually use a mains powered airbed Inflator from 2008😊 (achieves similar results but without brush tools). Very useful item on show here and highly recommended.
Blown away with the video! heheh a dust blower is on my wishlist but on the low prio....For now I use those lens pen cleaners with a brush on one end to clean the dust on the filter and fans and my keyboard heehehe
Is it safe to use the brush nozzle on surfaces with fine electronics? Like e.g. the motherboard, ram modules or slots, plugs, the GPU itself et cetera? I am kind of sceptical, but I saw you use it like that on a few places, but it seemed to me that you were very cautious about it as well. In any case, thanks for the video!
I got one of these 2 years ago on Mercari second hand for $12 and I can say it has single handedly saved the careers of at least 7 salvage Dyson's. I looked for another as a back up only to see they don't seem to be sold stateside anymore. Made me really sad.
It looks like a kettle ,so may be hack it to a steamer mchine😁Joke apart, I use an air compressor with pressure regulated to not damage anything. Still, I must be careful!
I'm surprised the PSU didn't overheat with all the pet hair round the intake, the blower did a great job with the filters though, far better than a vac.
yeah considering it is only a 500w Gamemax low end PSU it has held up surprisingly good, maybe i should send it to gamersnexus to compare against the explosive gigabyte ones 😎
This thing is a beast and so cheap, way better than a lot of the more expensive battery operated versions on the market. I was shocked how much air this thing can move, especially right through radiators.
Ive done all my PCs and ketboards and even dusty coving around my mouse, this thing shifts the dust. Personally I think in the long run is money well spent and it keeps the treehuggers happy not using that canned stuff.
@@uglybob7505 good point made Bob, I think a lot of people forget that in an air duster can, the gas is actually butane which is flammable, which I found out once when I was using a soldering iron and used it to cool down the soldered joint. Fortunately my eyebrows did grow back.
Completely caught my eye. Wishing to have some money to get it. Thanks for sharing this awesome content, Mike & Kath! Question: Does it come in 110W, US plug version?

Hi, Mike. I have a blower similar to that. I find it to be quite handy. My week is starting in a bad way. First off, my computer chair broke. Then Steve at Gamers Nexus says my Gigabyte GP-P850GM PSU has a defect and could blow up at any time. Always something. Oh, in regards to the PC cleaning segment... 80s porn called. those power supply tests are pretty extreme and also components change so much like all the other internet scare stories it isn't worth panicking over, but just consider the information on your next purchase
Why would people waste time air blowing a mag filter when you can simply just run it under a shower or a tap for a few seconds and then dry it out? (Not a personal commentary about you, Mike!)
That is a bit pants to be honest., seems like a lot of effort is needed to get rid of the dust out of a pc. also worth noting you should not allow the fans to be blown with air because if you blow them fast it can send a voltage down the cables to your motherboard and it can cause damage so be careful of that. i repurposed a fire extinguisher its about 2ft tall i just pressurise it with my air compressor to 8 bar then bring it down the house to dust out my pc. cost me £30 plus £2 for an air fitting much stronger air pressure it can do a better job than this.
You use a vacuum?? I'm surprised you haven't destroyed your computer parts, it's extremely likely to destroy the parts (and you can read posts from people who've done so) due to the intense amount of static electricity generated around the nozzle due to the air friction of the air being compressed as it goes into the nozzle. Similar principal to what causes lightning during a thunderstorm. Just take the PC outside and set up a regular pedastal fan to blow generally away while you manually dust with a brush. Next level, use the CompuCleaner. Either way, go outside, no need to use a dangerous vacuum cleaner. Take an extension lead and powerboard with you.
Honestly dude, you mentioned using vacuum on your computer, I'm not taking any computer advice from you. using vacuum on a computer is a good way of frying it..
