Foam = repairable and they aren't toys ... , BALSA = That's the real Garbage that can't take a hard sneeze near them because they'll break...
Your comment just revealed how ignorant you are concerning this hobby!... There are foamy planes that are WAY BETTER and Faster then the Balsa ones, not to mention that they are more durables and sturdy...
Now if you were referring to the FPV racing drones when you stated that they are the ones ruining the hobby, you are wrong too because they weren't doing nothing wrong there... They were just recording the jet's flight with their drones and presumably with the Jet's pilot permission...
I agree that it would've being better for that jet to be flown on a bigger place, but, hey, even in bigger places people make mistakes that cost their planes... This is part of the hobby too.... The DARK SIDE!...

EDF jets require speed to maintain stable flight. For the landing you need to come in hot, you need to use flaps and you gotta be ready to flare at the right moment to put the wheels down softly. No other way around it. I didn't see any flaps being used in this video. It happens, I've done it.

Butt seriously, and only for a moment or ill start to sound like my father and you will stop listening to me......
      Its a fairly simple concept.
Draw a line on the ground.
      Planes fly on THAT side.
      People fly FROM THIS side.
      Planes, THERE.
      People, HERE.
      OR
      Planes, HERE.
(Runs quickly to not be hit in head by airplane........... Again.)
      People, HERE.
      OR
      People, THERE.
      Planes, WAY OVER THERE.
For this to work, People and Planes just have to spend most of their time on opposite sides of the flight line.
      Don't worry though.
You can still be together, alone, when you get home......
Then you can so stuff to her if you want....
Tape her up, glue her to herself, tear her apart cut her up throw her In a bag and dump what's left of her in the garbage if that's what you're into.
Then just buy a new one to replace her.
Get one that will do all the things the last one wouldn't.
      You know what I mean?
      Sure you do.....

You were dealing with a bit of wind and the corn stalks on each side as well. I try to stay in big fields if possible to allow for adjustments. It's an expensive hobby but we'll worth it. I will be glad when they start making some nice vtol style aircraft or some equipped with GPS and automatic landing. We definitely have the technology to do it just nothing like that on the market yet. How cool would that be to push a return to home like on a drone and it lands itself.

in 1987 while training in 29 palms my squadron had the rather dubious honor of being the first Marine Corps squadron to successfully deploy the ejection seat... My XO was piloting his Hornet with full ordinance onboard... loaded with 500 plb bombs he lit the afterburners to get off the ground.. The center-line fuel tank did not have the fuel cap properly secured and a Lucky grunt at the end of the runway got a picture as a giant fireball exploded beneath the plane... sure wish I still had a copy of that picture it was a rare one... Our XO got a fire warning indicator.. He could not punch out because he was still over the runway, full fuel bladders to his left, live bombs on the tarmack to his right, with a cool had on the stick he road the plan down until he was at about 100 feet and past the end of the runway. Once in the clear.. in his own words.. " I got clear so I jettisoned the fuel tank, it was still going down so I jettisoned the ordinance, it was still going down so I jettisoned the airplane... Your escapades brought this memory back... thank you its a good memory.. You might be gratified to know there was alot more of your aircraft left then our XO's

Even with full flaps, that was going to be a 50/50 proposition landing there. But it's still cheaper than bashing cars!

I noticed how they seemed to have no saftey rules in place. Drones flying over heads and the plane flying over heads and cars. I used to fly RC alot. Going to get back into it but we had established no fly zones. We all stayed behind the flight line. And didn't step across it and didn't fly on our side of it. Planes stayed on front of us. Never over or behind us. Unless lost of controll or flight problem. Then we would call it out and any others flying would land imeadiatly and give the guy having trouble the field to get his plane safely on the ground. We flew larger 1/4 and 1/3 scale.

Flying a high speed model, in an area with brush and static objects above ground level, in a highly congested airspace? This was a bad idea. High speed passes over spectators heads and within close proximity of static objects?? That's a recipe for disaster. Don't fly in conditions like this.
