You should not change your sight settings in the middle of a test like this! Leave you sight sight setting the way it is and then sight your rifle in with the best grouping ammo.
enjoyed the video and thanks for using several manufacturers . Its been my experience on my rifles that the groups will tighten up after the barrel gets dirty , would be interesting if you went back to the first round you tested and tried it before cleaning your rifle.
Thanks for the comment and for watching the video, I actually did reshoot the first two in a separate video. One was surprising and put three shots in the same hole.
Good video! Very well done. It seems like no one wants to shoot for accuracy anymore and I am glad to see someone bucking the "ringing steel" mold. I might have to try some of those rounds. But my 16" barrel Tipple X Rossi shoots sub MOA with the 150gr Rem Core-Lokt. And with a low powered thick reticle scope to boot. The 170gr looked like your first group. 160gr LeverEvolution not good either. I reload anyway, but I like to try to match velocity, bullet weight and profile as close as I can to something that shoots well. And as far as I know Core-Lokt bullets aren't available anymore. The Rossi R95 is a winner in my book. A 20" wood furniture is in my future. Subscribed. Keep 'em coming.
I just got the R95 trapper and I’m floored by how well it shoots. I kept iron sights on mine and it absolutely loves the 160 grain FTX over leverevolution powder. I’m not really a fan of short barrels so I didn’t have much hope for it (it was a gift) but I quickly changed my tune after shooting it.
@@nortah Nice. I almost pulled the trigger on one in 45-70 earlier this week... but the very lightly used Henry 45-70 with 18" barrel won out. If the Henry hadn't been a side gate model I would have had another Rossi R95.
Doesn't changing the setting on the telescope potentially affect the point of impact? The Remington and Blue should have been re-tedted with the new setting and also the barrel would have warmed up by then? Just asking? 😮
I think I would have to shoot the 150 gr Rem & Fed Power Shok (blue box) again just to make sure since those were your first two shots. Also, be careful with the Hammer Down & Fusion ammo because if I'm not mistaken I believe they are a bonded bullet. Not saying they aren't good loads but with 30-30 velocities Id be concerned with their expansion, and possibly not having good blood trails. I would have to lean towards the Winchester XP or the Rem 170 gr loads if the other two don't group better. Been considering a Rossi myself, thanks for posting
Really, wow… mine shoots serval of the factory loads well. The Federal Blue box put three in the same hole at 50 yards. I’m getting ready to try some reloads to see how they shoot.
Nice video, i buy the same gun this month, but just can test the core lockt 170 greins and hornady 160 grains lever evolution, shoots great whit bouth. Last sunday i made my first hunt whit him and catch 2 axis does and a realy good wild boar, the Remington stop him on the run no problem. Hope can test diferent ammo on the future, but in my country is really hard to get and expensive
Good luck with your test and good hunting, we don’t have axis deer or wild boar here but they would be fun to hunt. Thanks for the comment and for watching my video.
Gave you another sub - I have a channel under a different account approaching 400 subs - so I try and help other new channels out. I just hope I don't go out and buy one of these R95's after watching... lol I do like them but I really don't need another gun... (did I say that? lol)
Hmmm maybe it just needed a little fouling in the barrel? Or it's breaking in.... or it thinks it's a Winchester lol or just wants to put the hammer down.
Expensive test in these times , much appreciated, it’s good to know what your gun likes best, happy hunting’
It was an expensive test but necessary to make sure I make a good shot when I get the chance. Thanks for the comment and for watching my video.

Thanks for the comment and for watching my video, I did not change my sights on my next video until I was done shooting all the ammo.
Ppu 170-150gr
Winchester Power points 170-150gr
Federal Blue box 170 gr
Federal Fusion 170gr
Hornady FTX - 160gr

Thanks for the comment and for watching my video, it is an awesome rifle and the actions on these things are like butter.

nice comparison I've got the Rossi R95 also I'll use your info next time i get some ammo !
That was the purpose of the test, cost me some money but could save some for other folks.
Would have been nice to see you shoot the Remington or the Blue box again. I was wondering if the Barrel fouling was improving the accuracy.
...or the shooter was getting more comfortable with his setup?

Thanks for the comment, I did another video and did reshoot both of them and the Federal did very well.
Sorry missed that video@@sprucehilloutdoors
I haven’t found any loads that really shoot that well in my R95. I’ve tried 7 different loads and It’s a 2 MOA gun at best. Good enough I guess.

I have that same rest it’s not made for target shooting try with a bag or a Caldwell led sled

Thanks for watching and for the comment, I’ll return the favor.
Probably the best the gun can shoot..
Summary
100 yard exemplary perfomance:
1. Hammer Down 150
2. XP 150
3. Fusion 150
50 yard satisfactory performance
remingtons corelokt and bluebox feds 150
170g not worth
Hmmm maybe it just needed a little fouling in the barrel? Or it's breaking in.... or it thinks it's a Winchester lol or just wants to put the hammer down.
I read most deer are shot at 50 yards
