NotebookLM is not meant for podcast creation. It is for analyzing, questioning, and summarizing your sources. The podcast creator is just a neat little feature to help you understand the sources. NotebookLM is meant for research and analyses and aid in the creation of documents.
Google illuminate is the tool behind the podcast creation. You can tell notebook LM to generate a script for the podcast. Then send that to illuminate and pick different voices or go to eleven labs for more refined production.
You could use NotebookLM to create an awesome and informative podcast based on lots of uploaded sources, then transcribe the audio back to a text script (using any one of many software tools), and then use Gen FM to recreate the podcast using your voice with another voice. Ta-da! Best of both worlds!
Notebook LM is free and as long as Google continues to innovate, features that you talk about will be available I would think. There are other features that make Notebook LM useful like adding additional questions. At the end of the day, most listeners will not even notice that the speakers sound the same since there are so many podcasts to listen too. Until people revolt over AI based podcasts and say that too many have the same voices, free is the way to go. As long as the content created is accurate and satisfies the creator, why pay for frills that the listeners currently do not care about. As long as the creators get the number of listeners they aim to get, Notebook LM will be sufficient. No amount of added features at a subscription price will convince free tool users to switch. There are too many open source and free tools coming out weekly that another one for free will be available that is better than Notebook LM. Paying for an annual subscription for something that will become old news in weeks now, makes no sense. Companies need to wake up and stop these subscriptions. Additional great features should be pay as you go and very reasonable in cost.
Yes but just keep in mind what @dougcampbell7898 said: "NotebookLM is not meant for podcast creation. It is for analyzing, questioning, and summarizing your sources. The podcast creator is just a neat little feature to help you understand the sources. NotebookLM is meant for research and analyses and aid in the creation of documents."
The 50% off for Eleven Labs is for the first month only. If you purchase at the yearly price, you get two months free. All these people with comments saying they'll stick with Notebook LM because it's free are not ready to create their own voice clone or edit podcasts because Notebook LM cannot do any of that.
5:09 The enablement to customize the content of the podcast is game-changer. Cloning your own voice can be use to narrate stories, authors of books can have their voice narrate their own books and you can write your own autobiography and have your own voice narrate the autobiography. Plus you can expand on old topics or "talking points" that need expounding on, when you don't have the time to do it on your own official channel. In such case we must label those voice clone products that is artificially done, so that the public will distinguish what is original and what is artificial in the voices. I think it's a game changer. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
Perfect!...just what I needed and your direct straight to the point explanation just perfect. I will share your video with my entire instructional design team! Thank you so much!
I'm sure LM will add more voices but the joy of it for me is that you can give it up to 50 pieces of source material. You can also customise the podcast, (for example, I recently uploaded info about using AI for writing fiction and told the podcast to angle their conversation for a target audience of authors who write teen fiction. I could have done it again for, say, horror story writers and so on.). And as someone else has said, LM is - for the moment anyway - free. Can't beat that!
Notebooklm is great, genFM has different user target. Question about the pricing: how many minutes of voiceover/podcast can you generate with the Creator plan?
You can't really, but for now you could copy & paste the content from a bunch of sources into a single google doc and use that as source in Eleven Labs.
Nice tool by ElevnLabs but still the NoteLLM quality of generated podcasters voice is astounding. Yet, ElevenLabs excells at 2 parts. The multilingual capability and the own voice cloning part.
i created podcast of cloned voices, but i do not know how to download in order to place it on our radio station. ?? i am sure in is in front of me, realization but where/? generated from top to botton of article but not able to find download the whole conversation. Help
Interesting overview. Right tool for right work.. Notebook LM really is a research tool.. not really a Podcast making tool. That said, it is FREE and you can use other tools that will split the transcript and generate new voices for you at low cost. Also with Notebook LM I can combine multiple source documents so that makes sure my output is unique vs just one document. I imagine that Google will offer different voices in the future.
This is interesting, however I can hear a fundamental flaw, which is the audio quality difference between the cloned 'real' voice and the system generated guest voice. There's a noticeable mismatch, which makes the conversation sound less natural than the Notebook LM voices. Perhaps a solution is to record some audio of the sound of the room where the real presenter is recording their voice sample, and the software then samples it and mixes it with the generated voice.
Thanks for the video. You have a great voice, that helps... But their clone is really good, I can't hear any mid-frequency phase artifacts as I usually do in other voice clones. Thanks for the info, will try it out!
I had already did it 2 month ago. But it's really hard to beat the fluide conversation like NotebbokLM with interruptions from intervenants or like the mmm..., ok, that's right, Exactly ect... And i burn 5$ in 1 hours aprox. And Google Cloud TTS have these 2 voices plus 2 others female and male who sound so natural and real that elevenLabs can't beat or equal. There's also one on Git... but no as good as NotebookLM even with ElevenLabs.
@@mohmbillyI had a discussion with Claude 3.5 sonnet about an AI Agent that would easily operate a computer and carry out different operations. I thought this would be useful for that user living with a disability and many other. After 2 weeks Anthropic came with the computer use kind of agent
This is incredible, I will be doing this 💯 percent. Great video very clearly explained. I have my professional voice clone already. Time to start cranking out the podcasts. Did you see the video podcast feature in HeyGen in the labs section? My latest video shows it.
Notebook LM is not a podcast or speech tool....eleven labs is a speech synthesis tool.... how can you compare two completely different tools on the basis of one common feature....
I couldn't wait for it I knew you were going to say a monthly fee $11 a month or FREE? Let me think about it for a nanosecond, That will be a NO then, Bad mistake comparing this with Notebook LM which is not just for podcasts and with the new features and updates, But I do hope you get some sales, Live Long And Prosper 🖖
I notice there is something more human in the delivery in Notebook LM such as pausing or lengthening words etc. That said, the cloning of your voice using the other software was very good, although it was also so perfect that it sounds a tiny bit inhuman if that makes senses. The voice responding back to you sounded super robotic, so that voice was a turn off for me. I'm curious to see the next developments in this field.
I don’t think think you can clone your voice in eleven labs on the lower subscription tiers tho unless they changed that because I’ve been subscribed to eleven labs for a while now
And if you are reallly bored of those two male hosts chit chatting , you can add some spice as well - NotebookLM - 10 Podcast Prompts YOU MUST know th-cam.com/video/aG0ixD3OY80/w-d-xo.html
If Eleven labs would be able to make it sound like a dynamic interaction with all the small nuances NotebookLM offers it would be a viable replacement. But right now it sounds very static.
the quality between genFM and NotebookLm is quite huge. GenFM is nice to create a short podcast that is a summary. But NotebookLm is creating a real talkshow. a real podcast. GenFM it is just one voice answering the other one. that is totally differnt i would say, not the same feeling. Yes you can use different voices for the podcast, that is really nice, but it is not the same like notebook Lm.
If you 're using it just for podcast, you're using it WRONG or just skimmimg the surface of its potential usage. Hence, it is an unfounded comparision. NoteLM is way more ;)
Clickbait title! NotebookLM is not meant for podcast only! It’s just a side tool! It’s meant for summarizing various internal sources and neatly wrap it in text or audio (podcasts) format! Plus it’s free service!!
The notebook ai podcasts sounds more natural. But then the Notebook LM voices sound more natural than your real voice. So maybe you were trying to reproduce your monotone
You lost me in the first minute. Four million monthly visits doesn't mean 4 million podcasts. Your credibility is shot from that point onward. Please have more respect for your audience. The description of the tool is well done. It would be helpful if you discussed the EULA in regards to capturing and using peoples voices in the future.
notebook lm is trash same sounding trash. i heard the same two voices in a commercial saying the same lets start lets take a deep dive. damn how many deep dives are you going to take lol
Sorry, this is the worst program I've ever seen in my entire life. I paid for a professional. When I went to record with a super professional microphone that I have, it said there was noise and that wasn't true. I tried again and then it said it was in accordance with the text. Then, on the fifth time, it said that it had exhausted its attempts and could only try in 24 hours. I was very angry and canceled this crap.
Sorry man, there was acredibility burn when the second run was a lot worse than the first. I mean sure, your voice but listen to your robot cohost. And your voice seemed to sharp cut words. As in all your words seemed individual. Not as much blending or expression. I agree things need ot expand but this ain't it I'm afraid...
elevenlabs cannot speak Japanese at all. I gave a D- or F on the grade. They say 40 languages but Japanese is a disaster. It can't pronounce words correctly, the accent is horrible, TTS can't read correctly.

it was the hook haha
@@dougcampbell7898 and they never sa podcast.. donno whats the reason bur google never mentions it
I can't agree more.
You are so right! The podcast is a great feature but NotebookLM is much more than that
In NotebookLM you can chat and ask questions, create notes and even you can join the hosts in interactive way.. It's better
I believe eleven labs is also going to introduce that soon!

Hi there , i dont think you can dowload the script of teh podcast, i tried to do that before if yoy have a trick would appreciate you sharing it

Do you think Notebook LM is monetizable?
This is most impressive. I love the ability to edit the text and then recreate the audio.
I agree with you 💯💪🏾👍🏾
Before getting so excited please say that is not FREE. I know that doesn't give you clicks. But you will earn trust. Thank you.

Would it not be more clever to download the NotebookLM output and then use a voice changer tool ?
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Am I able to create two voice clones for the two people in the podcast ?
I want something similar but to make TH-cam videos.. not a two-person podcast.. should I use the same tool
Will YT/Google allow? Will the algorithms count AI voice against Creators?
same here...
You are the real MVP 🏆
Notebooklm is great, genFM has different user target. Question about the pricing: how many minutes of voiceover/podcast can you generate with the Creator plan?
On the website it states 100 minutes.
Is there any way that you can add instructions to the software like 'Customize' in Notebook LM?
What if you want more than 1 source? Can you do that?
You can't really, but for now you could copy & paste the content from a bunch of sources into a single google doc and use that as source in Eleven Labs.

I noticed you can only use one source so it is less of a study tool. And I assume NotebookLM will soon have more voice and languages.

if only I could customize the NotebookLM hosts to have their own characters.
I don’t think think you can clone your voice in eleven labs on the lower subscription tiers tho unless they changed that because I’ve been subscribed to eleven labs for a while now
