My husband was not a soldier, but he passed away about the same time this song came out.. I love it beacuse you gotta slow down in life and see what you have. he was 26 when he died and left me and are two boys.. But we are strong and stay together no matter what..
I wanted to tell you I'm so sorry for your loss. The fact that it was such a young age in itself is just so heartbreaking. I am truly sorry for your loss
So sorry, I can't possibly imagine the hurt. Hopefully one day your boys and you find pride and god will bring you together again. This life is only temporary.
My husband died November 2002. He wasn't a solider or a hero, but he was loved greatly by my daughter and myself.. Everyone tried to tell me how I should feel. The best thing I did was tell everyone to just let me grieve, how ever long it takes. 20 years later, I am better. I married a wonderful man, 3 monghs ago.. It took 20 years for me to stand up for my feelings. I always felt like I had defend my late husband. Don't let people tell you how to feel.
I met Eddie and Troy during theyre tattoos and scars era went to see them at pecitonica fairgrounds, Eddie bummed a smoke and Troy was very kool to .you daughter gave her a hug and pick,s and that was all while they played on the back of a flatbed trailer. It was a great time in my life I was proud to have met them both were complete gentleman to my whole family. A good time of bootstompin in my life I wont ever forget.
I lost my best friend when we were 21. Then at 26, I lost the second member of our trio. I'm the last that remains, and it really hits home most days, especially on the worst days. Thank you Mr. Gentry, and may you rest in piece.
I'm 38 and got up every day to train for moto cross and played this song .. I won the Racer X nats .... this was them song ...I jogged down the trail feeling the win.....I won... It played a part, a big part...
Rest in peace Troy Gentry its hard to believe your gone, and thank you to all the veterans and active service men and women for your service and may the ones who lost there lives rest in peace and let the families of the veterans and family of Troy Gentry get help through the hard times
Oh my God I didn't know he was Dead my uncle loved this song and so do I reset in peace brother troy I'll see you all at the end ✌️ And ❣️☝️ completion The father ,the son, and holy spirit safe in his arms with everlasting love
I wish I had been a better fan growing up. I meant to see you Troy in concert before you died. You were my most favorite Country music singer. And you and Eddie as Montgomery Gentry was my favorite duo ever. But I wasn't and now I regret it. RIP Troy Gentry. I wanted to meet you and Eddie so badly.
When I hear the 20 year old being layed to rest while his Mother stood by his side really gives me the chills. That stuff goes on every day. This song really wakes me up to that and makes me sad. I have an only Son, And can't imagine life without him.
Hey Jessie, I wrote this song and that really means a lot to me. Lost my day a little over a year ago so I understand your pain. Thanks so much for sharing!
The line "Made me think how we all just 'have our time'"... bone chilling and haunting lyrics considering his fate. Rest easy, Troy. I really think you were taken too soon...damn. I thought he was adorable.
Carry on, my friend, may your soul carry on!! Blessings and prayers to the Gentry family!! What a sad, sad day. I'll keep rolling on with the message you gave us. I won't forget!
No disrespect to Montgomery Gentry at all but if it weren't for Darren's fans I wouldn't have ever seen this clip and found a wonderful country duo such as them and yes... I had never heard of them before (I'm not American). So yes, I came here for Darren but discovered the wonderful Montgomery Gentry. Replayed this a few times over not just to appreciate Darren's beauty but also because I definitely appreciated the song and it's meaning. I will now go look up more of their music.
RIP Mr. Gentry. Thank you for this and so many more. Your voice soothed my soul at some of the hardest times in my life. This world will not be the same without you in it.
I used to know the guy that wrote this song, Tommy Karlas. He was a friend of one of my band mates years ago. Tommy opened a show for us once, glad to see he made it to the big time.
This song has a whole different message these days. It took a tradegy for me to really hear it. I'll never stop listening to their music. Rest in Peace, T-roy
What a beautifully wonderful song. I mean at first i just came to see what Darren's role was in this but I've got a new favorite country band and did anyone else actually cry when they killed off Darren? Oh I bawled
In these times this such an emotional doing. Not just losing Troy 💜 but the world as we know it has changed. let's all slow down and remember what's important. Family loves ones and our small towns we come from. Love you MG
These guys really save me from an alcohol induced stupor, which I had been in for months after a very bitter separation,.the wife took off and left me alone with all of the kids, and I would try to balance a broken heart working 50 hours a week keeping up our house and raising two girls and a boy all on my own, to say that things got extremely hectic would be an understatement, because I was only 27 at the time there came a time when I didn't even want to look in the mirror, and then out of nowhere the song Lonely and gone came on the radio and it fit my life to a tee. needless to say I pretty much stopped drinking I found the woman that would absolutely rule my world, and still married to her right to this day and I love her tremendously.. thank you country music, and because of Montgomery Gentry and their song Lonely and gone I feel like I started coming back, and I know now that they were God sent, they truly were I was at one time on my road to certain hell, and i thank God the came along just in time to pick me up,,and forever I rolled with them.... Their fantastic rhymes life-altering music together will be missed,as there is little doubt that they did a lot of good with their musical genius, and as one of their biggest fans I just would like to say, that I thank them tremendously May the legendary Duo, or one half of it at least rest in peace may God's blessing forever be on your door steps, and May your musical genius always lift up the needy and help to carry them through their hard times..... Music soothes the soul of the Savage beast,,and indeed it is God sent to us all... the name Montgomery Gentry Keith Urban Hank Williams Junior and senior Willie Nelson Faith Hill and of course Tim McGraw Garth Brooks all of the greats which take the time to not only make music but to understand how their genius will heal the broken and literally bridge the gap in their lives all of these miraculous wonders are a tool, and I do not mean that in a derogatory manner they are a tool of genius and in many cases a Saving Grace witch God Almighty uses two better of all of us,and I'm sure... Music does indeed heal the brokenhearted as much as it even calms the wicked.
This song is beutiful, the meaning, the lyrics, they way they say it and the way they show it. Maybe it's because I love Darren Criss a hell lot but the idea of him not returning home, letting what should be his wife and his son, the sole idea of loosing someone and realize that time it's limited. Maybe it's because it's Malvina's day and war is shaking most Argentinian feelings towards it.
This year I lost 4 from my high school class to 4 seperate car crashes before they even hit 21. Months later and not a single one of those wounds has fully healed but it changed my life and gave me value to a life I was throwing away.
My heart goes out to all the people that this song has touched 🥲 I pray for the family that lost this wonderful man who brought heartfelt songs and lovely music to this world he will be missed by many.
Listening to this song after the untimely death of Troy Gentry makes it even more meaningful. Hearing him sing "Well who knows what's up ahead; I think I'd rather not know instead" puts a lump in my throat. RIP
Always have been a fan of Montgomery gentry ...their music has brought tears to my eyes and ive rocked out singing their songs in my car driving ...hearing about troys death killed me i cried like a baby listened to this song and many others and the tears just fall ...so much talent and a voice ...heaven gained another angel ...R.I.P. Troy u will be sadly missed ...thoughts and prayers always for his family and for eddie Montgomery ...time heals all brother
i came here for montgomery gentry but i fangirled slightly when i saw darren as i had no idea he would be in this.... this song is soo so beautiful and has such a wonderful message to it! not to mention montgomery gentry kicks butt and is just sooo amazing!!
I actually grew up on Montgomery Gentry, but kinda outgrew country in general once I hit high school, when this video came out. I noticed Darren was in it, and it helped me fall back in love with country. So "watching just for Darren" helped regain a fan.
I remember hearing this song when it first came out. I was 14 at the time and grew up with a love for country music, and I'd listened to hundreds of songs on CMT by then. Yet the moment I heard "Roll With Me", I knew it was going to stick with me for the rest of my life. I gradually moved into listening to other genres but this is still a song I like to come back and listen to. Now that Troy Gentry is gone, I choose to remember him with all the other bygone artists who have shaped and inspired me as a musician. Rest in peace, and thank you.
Doing what's right! Roll with me. My brother and I did that and he passed almost two decades ago. Now my son 8 is doing what's right everyday. He knows T Roy is gone and how hard it is to roll alone. We're trappers and we're headed out on a Sunday evening to take the land back.
My husband was not a soldier, but he passed away about the same time this song came out.. I love it beacuse you gotta slow down in life and see what you have. he was 26 when he died and left me and are two boys.. But we are strong and stay together no matter what..
