    My mom WAS an alcoholic , my dad WAS abusive, and I WAS nothing more then a dirtbag (Drugs,Womanizer, Never believed in myself,gangs, racist ect).....it took years. At first i found God and I started believing in him.The more I believed the more I saw God take notice. We all started going to church and volunteering from the heart. My mom has been clean for years. My dad spoke sweeter, and I left my old gang behind, started over, forgave myself, respected everyone equally and met amazing people, I've been clean for many years and I thank God for it everyday. It shows when I told my fiancé about my past..and she couldn't believe it..Dont stop believing!

    I have a grandmother who acts all sweet with me and her grandchildren, but in all reality, had neglected her own 5 children, one of which included my dad. I thank God that none of them ended up like her and I pray for her and everyone else in their bad ways everyday. This song gives me hope for even the worst of people.

      @COWGIRLBABY19841 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sweet pea don't you think that maybe she might be trying to make up for that with you and her and other grandchildren. Sometimes grandparents try to make up for the mistakes that they made with their children by doing what they should have with their own grandchildren. Sometimes people are better grandparents than they were parents. I know I've seen it firsthand.

    This song is so powerful! I am an immigrant that fell in love with this Country since I was a kid living in México. I came to the States when I was 19 years old. I came illegally and earned my Citizenship when I turned 25 years old. I consider this Country my home because. I found out this Country loves me too. There are good in people everywhere even in those that misunderstand me and the ones I miss understand. God bless.

    Montgomery Gentry, God through this song turned my life around. From a depressed, self-harming boy into a purposed, joy-filled man. This song gave me hope at my lowest points. It gave me hope that I could change and become who I am meant to be in Christ.

    • @KingofSanity
      @KingofSanity 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well sir I'm going to let you know that it wasn't Christ it was you who decided to change, prayer releases endorphins the same as getting a raise at a job does so in turn you picked yourself up and gave yourself the strength because if you truly believe that God created everything then everything is God, therefore you are God, I am God we are all God. No offense when I say this but you talked yourself through your difficulties and YOU answered your own prayers because you are God.

      So when I was in the Marines in Iraq 06. Montgomery gentry came out to the base I was on to do a uso show. Unfortunately I couldn't go. I was on a convoy. But everyone else that didn't have obligations went. I'm telling you, when some of them went to that show, they hated country music and had no idea who Montgomery gentry was. They just went because it was a break from the norm. But when they came back, they were all Montgomery gentry fans. With a newfound respect for country music. A few months later, DMX was scheduled to perform a uso show on our base. But he canceled. I'm not joking about this. DMX said it was going to be too hot in Iraq in the summer and never showed. That also turned more people into country fans.

    Not only that, God helped me get back into school. I graduated with a degree in May of last year; I now have a job at the same homeless shelter where I'd been a 'frequent' resident - now I'm a staff member there, where I can encourage others. Also, I've been free of drugs, alcohol, & out of abusive relationships for 16 years. So for anyone who's still struggling with recovery, drug/alcohol abuse - I've been there. Its not always easy, but it IS worth it, and it WILL happen.

    This song makes me think of my uncle. He was in Vietnam. The horrors of war turned him into an alcoholic. When he was drunk he was abusive. (verbally and physically) He knew it was taking a toll on his marriage and decided to get help. Unfortunately the alcohol already took it's toll on his body and left him terminally ill of cancer. The last years he was alive he was a changed man

    I'm trying to change badly. I was baptized in June 2009 10 years old but I didn't take my relationship with God seriously right after I got baptized and when I was 12 I started looking at bad stuff. When I was 17 last year about to turn 18 I said "I want to quit" and it's still hard right now every time I've tried to quit I've had relapses about every 2 months sometimes once every week and then I came across Matthew 5:28 "Any man who looks at a woman lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart" and that's when I started to hate what I done and I'm praying to god so hard that I want to run away from my wicked ways and like I said it's still hard.

    Through the grace of Christ I’m over 4 years sober. I was a young college frat boy who lived to party. At that point in my life, all I wanted to do was live in the moment. So I was just chasing the crowd. Truly, I loved the bar crawls, the atmosphere, the music, the women, the spring breaks, the people, the concerts, the raves, the festivals and the drinks. People actually thought it was cool that I would seem perfectly sober after drinking a .750 of Svedka. Honestly, looking back I I’m a bit ashamed of that. On game days I’d start drinking at 8am and I’d keep drinking till the bars closed at 2am. I was just always drunk. It was just that once in a lifetime experience where you are literally living with 3 or 4 of your buddies and you have 2 or 3 TVs in your living room. One’s got a game on and the other’s got Netflix and someone is playing call of duty on the other. So it’s an exciting time and you just don’t want it to end or miss out on a single moment. We’d be getting hammered on a Tuesday morning for no reason except someone had a good movie on the TV and we’d already went to the gym that morning. So the life style in general was a bit wild, even just during the off days. I found faith in god though my super senior year. Being 100% honest, I called upon the heavens and promised to give up alcohol if he answered me. In that moment I witnessed a true miracle and believed in God every day onwards. It took me an entire year to get sober but we did it together.

This was the best song they played in concert last time. Was one of Troys last shows. Extremely blessed to have seen this in concert. Fly high Troy!

    This song reminds me of my grandma. And a few other people in my family. But my grandma mainly at this point. She passed away two months ago. She was 84 years old but ten years before she passed away she quit drinking. Before that she had been drinking for over 40 something years most of my adult life and my childhood. But at some point when she stopped drinking she gave everything over to God and I believe it was by his grace that she was able to stay sober as long as she did. This past year she got really sick she fell and she broke her hip and just went downhill after that. But when she died she was happy because she knew where she was going and she was happy that she was going to get to see my grandpa and my mom and my brother again along with all of our other family members that went on before her. My mother and my little brother passed away my little brother passed away three years ago of a drug overdose and my mom passed away 11 years ago from a drug overdose. And I think a lot of the reason why my grandma got sober was to show my mom and my little brother that sobriety was possible and it is and it is possible for people to change for the better.

    Went on for years until I got myself in trouble. But it was the best thing it could have happened to me, where I surrendered myself to God, went through drug rehab behind bars, faced a lot of issues, and learned that I wasn't totally worthless. I was able to get out of abusive relationships, trusted God, got a job, & eventually went back to school. That was 16 years ago. Today I've been married to a man for 11 years who loves/accepts me, in spite of a lot of faults, who doesn't abuse me.(next p)

    I am one of those people whose music interests change, I haven't listened to a country song in around 5 years. But I've been going through a hard time and have been going through inspirational music ranging from gospel to now this. Thoufh its probably one of the only country songs ill listen to. This song gives me hope.

      ashcraft Don't limit yourself to one or two genres.. I listen to a MASSIVE range of music, there's good, uplifting music in every genre. A lot of the stuff I like is of the "feel good" type, stuff you just listen to and feel happy. There's hundreds of songs I could recommend but check these out and if you like them I'll give you some more-
      Darius Rucker- "This" / "Alright"
      Tim McGraw- "Where the Green Grass Grows" / "Live Like You Were Dying"
      Keith Urban (probably my favorite country artist)- "Days Go By" / "Someone Like You" / "Better Life" / "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me"
      Travis Tritt- "Great Day to Be Alive"
      An insane amount more but see if you like those
