I have had a few questions on how to use save states and how to do core or game remapping of controls. Decided best way to explain is to just show how to do it. So for those of you who have asked, I hope this helps out! BTW This is for Libretro core emulators only. So if you are using the non Libretro Mame emulators, which I do not use, you would not do it this way.

Great explainer vid!
I've used retroarch before for EMU on mobile devices and I knew enough to know that I know very little about certain functions. You did a great job highlighting the most relevant stuff to know without getting into the weeds.
Some more videos like this would be awesome, maybe a vid briefly breaking down what the different frontends like Motion Blue, Hyperspin, Recalbox and Emulationstation are, or what attract mode is. Anyways, explainer vids are always awesome!

Great video. You might want to cover how to save and backup your retroarch config files so that a person can save and restore them between images or when they want to copy configs over to a whole new pi.

I'm still having issue with the controllers. I'm trying to use a wireless Xbox 360 controller on your 128gb build. I can get everything working in Attract Mode and Emulation Station; but when I enter the emulators the controlls are not ideal. I would love to be able to changing things in RetroArch, but I can't access it while in an emulator. The hotkeys just don't seem to work. I can and have accessed RetroArch though Emulation Station and can change the buttons there; but then when I enter the emulators again they seem to default back. I've been specifically trying to change things for the NES. I think by default it's giving me a turbo A button, but no regular A.
Is it possible to transfer (in game) saves from retro pi to android? I have a PSX game I've been playing on the Retro Pi and want to add the file to play via ePSXe on my android tablet. I have gone into the PSX folder located the .sav file on the Pi and copied this across to the PC then into the PSX folder on my tablet with the ROM. When I launch ePSXe it launches the game but has no save present?
Hello thanks for the video I have a cuestion. I have a retro pie game and on the robotron game player 1 stickis for mubing the robotron the player 2 stick is the fire for robotron now is player 1 stick to mubing and player 1 buttons is to fire can you help me to change to player 1sti k to mubing and player 2 stik to fire. And how to make work the kitboar work couse only on robotron game the kitboar don't work to change the controls how to make work the kitboar or how to change the control without kitboar with the game controllers please thanks
Thank you so so much! The stupid 'Save game remap file' option was driving me crazy. Why the hell doesn't 'Save game override' save the control settings aswell.

MLP, i basically love your image. I am having issues with the button configuartion. I hooked up a usb nes controller and would like to configure it. On normal Retropie image it asks me to confige a new controller. How can i get the to work on your 64Gig attact mode image?
Can I rotate the screen from this menu? I mean like 194X, the original arcade is vertical meanwhile games in retropie all running horizontally. I happen to have a Dell rotating monitor, so it would be lovely to play game in vertical wise for the game that made on that format. Thanks

I've done exactly ad the vid says but still no luck. When i go into retroarch and do it and also when I use the select home key and right bumper trigger on my snes usb controller at the bottom left hand screen all it says is save state:0% and nothing happens and when I try to load nothing loads. Nothing will ever save or load and I can't figure out why. And I bought my set up like it is so I'm reluctant to mess with a lot of settings. Nothing seems to work I even went into save state settings and turned on auto n still nothing. Can someone plz help me figure this out. I admit I'm pretty green to all this
Love your channel and recent HyperPi image. Two questions: (1) how do you switch the default emulator when a MAME arcade game doesnt work in the current emulator? I cant get Rampage to work on any of your images. (2) Is there a way to load and enable cheats on all MAME games? THX!!!!

Pressing A button on you're controller before the game loads up will take you to the setup screen. The second row down select emulator for ROM and select (lr-imame4all) That one runs rampage well
Hey I have a question not related to the video but relevant for retropie images. Please help, ok, well I was wondering, If I have a 32gb image, but inside that 32gb image there're are actually 14gb used. Is there a way I can write that 32gb image into a 16gb micro sd card? Because I see that eventhough there are 14gb used in that 32gb image, the image always reflect the total size of the micro sd. And maybe if I try to write it into a smaller sd card it won't let me, eventhough the space is there. I haven't test it, but if some one have an answer for my question, please respond, thanks!

I am having issues with it not saving my control mapping. I downloaded the 128g hyperpie image and extracted then wrote to an SD card. It prompts for control settings on firsy load but it doesn't save them. In fact as soon as I go into anything it loses the mapping and I have to hit f4 to get out and shut down. Is there anyone who can help or has an idea what went wrong? It's a new pi 3b with 128 gig card. Image was downloaded from arcadepunks. After having issues I reformatted the sd and rewrote the image but same problem.
