Asus a16 with 7735hs, 7600s 8gb. Got it for Black Friday, open box, 700 USD, upgraded to 32gb ram and plays very well and I can leave it on the silent performance mode. You can comfortably play games without headphones and making minimal noise
It may seem silly, but that (or any) laptop's fans will be greatly assisted simply by raising up the rear legs a centimeter! Laptops desperately need airflow, so if you don't have a fancy cooling pad, just raising those rear legs help a LOT! Great work TenPound!
my only machine for playing Star Citizen is a 2nd hand Nitro 5 that I got off ebay for £300 (Ryzen 5 3550h GTX 1650). I upped RAM to 32Gb and put in a couple of SSDs. I play SC most days, bunkers & salvaging mainly. Obviously turned the graphics down a bit and the fans are bloody noisy but SC is fully playable
I replaced an extremely outdated laptop last year during a black friday sale. I got an Asus TUF Dash F15 2022 with an i7-12650h, a mobile 105 watt 3070, I upgraded the RAM to 36 GB of DDR5 @ 4800 mHz(ram speed is locked in the BIOS, can't run anything faster) and dropped in a second nvme ssd I had left over from upgrading my desktop. I managed to get a "Geek Squad certified" open box for $900 USD(~700 GBP). It runs Star Citizen very smoothly at 1080p, but the fans are LOUD when its all running at full blast.
I am playing for already over two years on an MSI with an intel 10th generation and a nvidia 3070. I upgraded to 32GB and SC plays quite nicely. I had to do a repaste though as the fans became louder and suddenly the temperatures were too high so the core frequency dropped. Undervolting helps a bit but the repaste was necessary. I am now using a Honeywell phase changing pad. Great stuff
I've done this on an Intel 11800H and 3070. Don't have benchmarks, but it mostly ran fine a year ago. In the next few weeks I'll be getting a handheld, and I'm excited to see how it does.
I play SC on a laptop. Always have, and I never had any problem. On a laptop with a rtx3080 8 gb, 32gb ram, AMD Ryzen 9 9500. I get about 60 FPS. 30 - 40 in busy cities while playing on 1440p
Would you mind sharing your game and nvidia settings? I've got similar spec laptop and I'm struggling with 15 - 40 fps tops... It used to be better 40 - 60 fps several patches ago but now it's a pain for me.
play SC all the time on a laptop since i had a back injury and am bed ridden for the last 4 months. has a 3070/32gb ram and cost about £1000 in UK money. plays fine @1080p and ok at 1440p, but I can't stream or record at the same time very well as the CPU overheats.
I recently upgraded my laptop (mobile gamer here) to an HP Victus. Costco here in the states had a special for $1100 on this i7-13700hx with 4060 and 32gb ddr5. So much better out the box, and once I started using process lasso even the hiccups disappeared. Feels like a Ferrari compared to my old Lenovo Legion Y545.
Ummn, yeah. I play on a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i - which is a bit on the high end side of performance laptops. Has a i9-13900HX, GeForce RTX 4080, and 32GB DDR5 RAM. They are loud but understandable because of air flow constraints and component size. However it plays just fine at 1-2K rez.
I'd reckon that heat would be the biggest pitfall for any somewhat modern laptop. Most should handle the spec requirements, but keeping it cool enough is the hard part. That's how mine is, it's no beast with a mobile 3060 and an i7 11800H, but it handles it pretty well. Just need to keep your expectations in check, but they can certainly do it.
Hell. I’ve played on a laptop. With an i5, 32 gig ram. And a 1050 GPU. I won’t say it was seamless but still playable after some config file inserts. Turning down shaders and most effects. I had a similar amount of crashes on that as I did with a decent desktop
Great video, have been thinking of upgrading as mobility is important for me. I play SC with a Dell G7 laptop w a 2060RTX with a NVMe and 32gb Ram. Overclocked and at 1080p I also fps cap it at 40fps and its very playable. PU fps is up/down but playable but AC is locked at 40fps which will get me through till I upgrade.

MSI GP66 an i7 10750H, 32gb dual rank ram, RTX 3070 8GB never seen under 30fps, mostly 40-50, and sometimes over 110fps, with MUX switch to dedicated graphics

Most cheap to mid range Laptop GPU's nowadays reach GTX 1070 and 1080 level nowadays, which is kinda insane, when you consider that the GTX 780 ti was more than enough to run the game in 2013.
I bought a gigabyte Aero 15 KD a couple years back just because there were no desktop parts to be found. It has an i7-11800H and a 3060, and it played 3.16-18 just fine. The CPU is weaker than your test unit while the GPU is roughly equivalent. Well, when I say just fine, I should qualify that as playing on the native 4k and I'd define playable as as playable as SC gets. I was getting 30-40 fps on average probably, not using as precise a measurement process as yours, while trying hard to remain patient and calm. I've since built an actual PC that will likely handle the vagaries of SC performance demands handily, but I wait to hear news of CIG's renewed focus on making the game worth playing. That being said, I think I paid around $1400 for the laptop back in those dark days, which builds a pretty nice PC now if you don't count the peripherals. I came here to see Star Citizen on a laptop. I'll sub if you make videos playing on laptops
avg 40fps
1060 3gb
Core I5 12400
DDR4 16gb ram
SSD
why does it get more fps than my way better gpu(rtx 4070) and i have a i5 12600kf
What ram do you have paired with the 12600kf?
great vid!!
Not bad laptop.
I'd have trouble with a 16" screen after playing on 3 x 28" screens.
(Spoilt brat)
Yeah 16 inch would be tough to go down to from that!
Listen I’m no expert but I see a laptop the same as a pc only difference is the fact that the amount of fans and the storage and such and the fact that if you can’t connect the pc to the router then laptop is to go that’s what I’m doing and if your also new to the whole of things then yeah but like I said I’m no expert so I’m probably wrong no surprise
Link us where you get it? lol
All gone I'm afraid but hotukdeals.com is your friend for this sort of thing!
It semi works just 0fps during IAE
very high clouds are "very demanding" lol, could say that, and they dont even look that good....
Can the laptop run the game - yes.
Can the servers run the game - no.
My 1200$ Desktop PC doesn't get that much FPS.
What are the specs?
CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X
GPU: Radeon RX 6650 XT
RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB 3200MhZ
2x Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB 3600MhZ
MOBO: ASUS Prime B450M-A II (before ASUS ROG STRIX 570-F (it broke😔))
But my PC is almost 3 years old except for the GPU.

Unfortunately the 3800x will be showing its age a bit- the 7640HS in the laptop is a few generations newer and seems to be quite a bit faster. th-cam.com/video/2xrIAwPV8B4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sWpOt5HO8vb8bbzQ check out this video if you haven't seen it- the 5800X3D would be a good upgrade for you!
Only in an extreme capitalist country would someone say that an RTX 4050 is low end. Holy sh*t! That's a mid/high end graphics card.
so to shut the Xbox & PS5 players up get a laptop its the same LOL
People that buy laptops for PC gaming are the reason PC gets a bad name for performance issues and failures.
I have rtx 4090 high end pc and a rtx 3080 high end laptop. I use the laptop more.
good work
lenovo loq prolly best bet stateside.
Guys, im watching this video rn and I'm thinking about buying the game, I have ryzen 7 5800h (laptop), rtx 3050ti 4gb, 32 gb ram at 3200mhz, i will be able to play the game with good fps? @tenpoundfortytwo
Hey! I don't think you'd have good FPS compared to most normal games. The cpu is a couple of generations old, but the GPU have 4GB vram also isn't ideal. There is a free fly event coming up in the next month, so I'd wait for that and try the game out for free!
@@tenpoundfortytwo Okay, thx for reply, I think if I play on mid graphics and with the DLSS of RTX i think it would be a bit "playable", I say this based on comments on this video of people that has same or a bit lower end pc, and they say they can play the game really well to be a mid-end pc, what u think, at least I can try to optimize the game as much as possible.
