    Just recently went from 16 to 32g of ram and I definitely noticed a difference in Orision. The tram ride used to be glitchy af with the clouds off. Now I'm running with the clouds on and quite a bit smoother. Other then that it didn't make too much difference.

      32 is definitely better than 16 which is better than 8. For the baller on a budget 16 will do til an upgrade is possible.

    Build my sons first comp with him for his 8th birthday a year ago. Only difference from yours was GFX cards were still crazy expensive so his runs a gtx980. Still plays SC fine at approx 30fps.
    My first SC comp was a laptop with a 2nd gen i7 and RTX580m back in 2013 or whenever the hangar module launched.

    I don't know if you have heard of "tenpoundfortytwo" he does a lot of hardware comparisons, where he uses different CPUs, different GPUs, memory speed, amount of RAM, while running SC. His min spec, but still very playable specs are the same as yours, except, a SATA SSD worked almost the same for loading times as a M.2. But if the M.2 is only a small jump in price, go for it.
    I'm enjoying your content on SC.

    I was running Star citizen on an Intel 10105 chip and board for 120 dollars, with a 12 year old hd 7870 graphics card than cost 40 dollars, a 25 dollar 256 gig SSD and 8 gig of ram for 25. Ran fine. 1080p low to medium. It was a budget build with a placeholder GPU for my partner but as it was here I thought I'd try star citizen and got what I expected. Because this game is a buggy badly optimised work in progress so people upgrading to bleeding edge hardware for this game are in fact throwing masses of money away for diminishing returns. Once it is released shortly after I have died of old age, then by all means folks can build for the game. But right now folks should go for best bang for buck. If the game runs fine for you then no need to spend.

    Went the budget pc route with a little extra ended up with 12400f (12100 would have sufficed) 16 gig ram (should be a now day minimum) 3060 (because the 3050 is a waste of money) 1TB nvme (because I can, a ssd would have been fine). I hit 50-90 fps depending where I am with everything cranked. This was during the GPU crunch so now you would get away with less but I still spent roughly $1000 in a country where hardware is pricy at the best of times. This should cost you no more than 750-800 dollars in the US and it is all new components.

    • @Spells-S
      @Spells-S 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AnxiousPenguin69 Try to low your game scale and use "upscale" in invidia settings, mach it with your scale in game and you got a bit better performance, also i recommend to clean ur SSD bc for some reason game runs slower when ur disk is filled with a lot of files. Also your RAM requirements are minimal this game must release up to 4 years so they are expecting what in the future ppl will have more RAM (32±). In total you will launch ur game on stable 30-40 fps (Cities included), a bit low ik:(
      additionally try to tune your settings to compensate RAM, try to off clouds for example

      Only on a old CPU new gen don't suffer from this at all. Running 16 gb ddr4 on a 12gen and I am getting no stutters. SC is a cpu hog and is the biggest requirement.

    I run an i7-9700f, GTX 1660 (no TI or Super), 32GB RAM and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD on a proprietary HP motherboard and proprietary 550W PSU. Both CPU and GPU run at 100% most of the time and SC uses about 90% of my RAM.
    I can get upwards of 60fps in certain situations but average around 40 (outside of cities). That said, I limit my fps to 30 to limit the severity and frequency of frame dips. Unfortunately for me, any upgrade will require multiple new purchases (Mobo, CPU, PSU, and case) that are well outside my current budget. But I consider SC perfectly playable for now and hopefully the upcoming switch to Vulkan and additions of DLSS and FSR will improve things further

    • @Noise_ninja
      @Noise_ninja 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm also on a tight budget. I buy parts one at a time, starting with the motherboard so I can make sure everything else is compatible with it. I use a pay-in-4 service so If a part is $600 I'll make 4 $150 payments over 8 weeks. I takes me about 6 to 8 months to save up for a new PC this way, but it's how I've built my last 3 computers over 10 years, and it's the best way to get a much better computer than you think you can afford. And if you can, get the big ticket items like the GPU and CPU when there's specials, like black friday, cyber monday, boxing day, EOFY etc. Used parts can be OK for some things but motherboard, CPU and power supply I always buy new.

    My i7-based PC that I bought in the summer of 2011 in Moscow and was my main gaming rig from then until December 2021 *still* runs SC. It's had a few upgrades, of course. The GPU has been replaced a few times as they've worn out. I've popped in more RAM, so I think it's gone from 8gm to 32gb. And around 3.14 I moved Windows and SC over to a SATA SSD. It's my son's main gaming rig now. He uses it for jumping in the verse with me. He's only shot me once. It was at SPK, and I lived, so it was alright. Most of the time it's so that he can make Roblox videos for his TH-cam channel. But he sees me playing, and he knows that his rig "lags". So I'd love to take some of my entertainment funds to build him a better rig so it's more fun for him when we play together. And this is exactly the sort of inspiration I needed right about now. Thanks for doing this!

      Idk what the CPU cache is looking like but the rest of the components look fine. There's a million potential software/ hardware issues but if your other games run fine, 🤷‍♂️. Maybe run some tests to see if any hardware issues exist. Other than that, turn the clouds down & don't run any higher than 1080p.

The absolute highest I've ever seen it was in my friend's ship in the cargo bay at 60. My temps are good too. A lot has changed on the back end since this vid, but there are many variables that could affect your performance. Resolution (don't try to run it in 4k), other software using up resources, quality settings (use one of the higher settings), turn clouds down to medium or below, Windows Performance settings, 16gb ram is doable but 32 gives more headroom, biggest issue: R7 2700 has kinda aged out w/ its 16mb of cache..an R7 5800x3D would make the game SING, but even the CPU I used in the build would double your cache.

      @@timadams3975 Hi, you‘ve probably resolved the issue by now but just in case, two things come to mind.
      - Launch the game, open the Task Manager, select the 'Details' tab, find the SC exe, rightclick it and set its priority to 'high'. This should ensure that its hardware demands are met before any background processes. While you‘re in the Task Manager, check which processes are using all the RAM, my clean Windows install idles at 4 out of 16GB and gets much lower if anything demanding is running. Biggest offender is Microsoft Defender at 220 ish MB, then Windows Explorer and a lightweight firewall i installed at 50 MB each. Any other system processes are single or low double digits MB.
      - Assuming you‘re using 2x8GB, double check that they are slotted in dual channel (every second slot if your mainboard has 4, usually the ones with white latches)

      @@theCoffinSeller ofc no one is trolling me personally. and even if I accept the fact the game is still a "tech demo" after 10 years, that doesn't explain why low graphic settings don't use GPU. CPU's are terrible at graphical calculations. You should never ever use a CPU for those tasks. Even modern operating systems won't run without a GPU, that's why most CPU's come with integrated GPU's. Cause even the most putrid integrated GPU is better than a CPU for these specialised tasks.
      This is not optimisation/tech demo/in development etc. issue. This is a design principle issue and a serious one. For the last I-don't-even-remember-how-much years people are trying to utilize GPU's as much as possible for various tasks in addition to graphical operations. While Star Citizen is offloading graphical calculations from GPU into CPU. That's beyond backwards and utterly ridiculous.
      So yes, I find it hard to believe the developers of this hundreds of millions of dollars game don't know about this and that's why I think the possibility of that they are just trolling is higher.

      @theCoffinSeller ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eckee We can have the typical armchair-game-developer back and forth but I find that's a mood point.
      The "design issue" is from the roots of the engine which was crytek. They then moved to lumberyard, which is build on crytek, and then made their own engine which is star engine.
      Thats the fancy video everyone and their mother is reacting to.
      The star engine doesn't have the problem of the crytek engine.
      "But where is it then?!" I hear you not ask.
      The "game" is in open developemet for 10 years, it did not start with the stanton system, it started with a kickstarter video and a bunch of jpegs. They remade the engine, made tools for faster developement, assests, models and physics during the decade for two games.
