thanks, i'm glad it is of use to you, I made my own because I found hop bought ones the rust and patina was in the graphic that is printed on the sign and it looks crap basically and to my mind just not good enough. go and have fun making signs and stuff and let me know how it goes would love to see the results.

A great bit of rusty/ weathered tutorial. I like toothpaste myself for a resist.

tootpaste is a good low cost resist but I like the latex as it cracks and lifts the paint as it comes off

Nice work. I have tried mustard before however it can discolour the paints and stain so I go with Tooth Paste now. May need to find myself 1 of these caps now.

you can use tomato sauce, or any sauce that has vinegar on it really or make up your own vinegar past with some corn flour or other non reactive powder, you can even soak a rag and put that one, I did this to remove and rust some galvanised 8ft x 4ft steel mesh panels. i used some old towels and bed sheets and just put them over the panels and soaked them. make sure if you do this to put some plastic over the top if its hot to stop it all evaoprating away.
