Good question Effra...she did a 2hour concert and it was like the same energy quality control...we finished our dinner during the party and she was just there still singing...and Waleska she actually did a lot of sustained high note songs without showing any fatigue at all...just love her so to speak...😍😍😍

Fun fact: She was the original lead vocalist of MYMP. Before they caught wave, Nina already started getting popular as a solo artist. Juris later on became the lead vocalist of the group. In the mid 2000s, Nina, MYMP (Juris), and Kyla were undoubtedly the biggest names in music then, with Nina being the most commercially successful among the 3. Nina and MYMP got good following in Korea too. In fact, IU (korean idol/actress) did a cover of MYMP’s version of Say You Love Me by Patti Austin after hearing MYMP do it. ☺️

They were in a totally different league/circle I must say, as this was the time when rnb/acoustic was just getting popular in the country. So their music was the type you would here in restos, bars, being sung by all cover/show bands. Then Sarah Geronimo entered the scene in 2004 and somehow created this tug-of-war in the pop music landscape of the country. It was like 2 totally different monarchs existing in the same kingdom. But since then, we saw a new surge of divas getting birthed. Sheryn Regis, Rachelle Ann Go, Jona, etc. all while Regine was sitting nicely atop her throne as the undisputed Queen. ☺️

Top Suzara on guitars is also a great vocalist and top-notch songwriter. He wrote most of Freestyle band’s hit songs when he was still a member. You should listen to “So Slow” and “Before I Let You Go,” two of my fave Freestyle songs. Promise, you’ll love them.

This song was in her album Nina Live. She covered this song before Arnel Pineda became the lead vocalist of Journey.
Nina's time was definitely the Era for this type of chill music. You have the likes of MYMP, Sitti, Paolo Santos, etc... around their time. And yes, it's that chill type music you would normally enjoy while having drink with friends. It's a very popular type of environment in the Philippines. They have this group called Sessionista's in ASAP and Nina and Juris was part of that group. It has that bar vibes. That's how bars are in the Philippines. You would have a live band while drinking. Very popular back then. And during their time, acoustic bands were the thing. You just can't beat that type of environment. I believe to this day, many of them, if I'm not mistaken, still perform once in a while, in these so called bars.. I could be wrong, but I've seen videos of up and coming acoustic bands (or even older generation) performing live in bars. I think they treat it as good practice and of course exposure. I wouldn't be surprised if in the Philippines, managers go to bars to scout for talents.

Top and Jinky Vidal are one of the best OPM vocalist back in the day. Saw them performed in my school when I was a freshman HS, damn I loved them ever since.
