8 years as England manager Southgate should've been sacked after bottling the Italy game when we had it in our grasp. His selections are seriously embarrassing. I mean games by playing players like Trent in midfield it's criminal man

Southgate destroys players. He crushes their spirits. He has a 26 man squad but 7 or 8 of those players have no chance of getting on the pitch, in case they play really well and give Southgate a problem going forward. He seems to have his subs worked out before the game starts.
On his piece of paper he writes down the minutes subs need to come on too. He also has to make sure he consoles the one coming off with a Pat on the back. Weak man, pathetic to his core.
He said in a recent interview that he “cuddles” them when they come off - no lie!

Harry Kane said it in his post match interview "we didn't have a clue what we we're supposed to do". Southgate is such a weak, cowardly, spineless, boring, manager. He was an uninspiring player and he certainly turned into an uninspiring manager who doesn't play to win- he plays not to lose. Out of his depth. I'm shocked he's lasted eight years.
He's lasted 8yrs purely off the back of being an FA yes man. The World Cup semi-final and Euro 2020 final were just the cherries on the cake as far as the FA are concerned. What's more important to them is brand image and a soft-spoken nicey nicey, politically correct yes man in the dugout.

He has got really lucky with the draws and although i'll give him credit for the pen shootout vs colombia in 2018 he completely messed up euro 2020, that team should have won it and he bottled it. Then regression since then and he should have gone after the 2022 world cup.

Why isn't any of these commentators pointing out when Southgate first took charge of England we were playing three at the back. Which gave us more men in central midfield.
The irony of this is it shows why England never make pundits happy. He's saying "you HAVE" to play Rice, Bellingham, Foden. This season that means playing a box to box, and two CAMs that like to be on the ball in the pocket. Their roles clash and it leaves no defensive cover.
The issue is he has to play a CDM, Rice and one of Foden and Bellingham. Southgate is saying that he thinks he doesnt have a CDM (to which you have to say ... But you brought two mate).
Ultimately, we'll only play well when he drops one of them and has an actual left winger start.

Having proper wingers stretches teams. That’s why Spain and Germany have been so good. Spain especially. You get 1v1 situations a couple times and you hope one of them turns into something. Pretty much both goals for England came from wider areas of the pitch.
Adjustments have to be made if not a team on par quality wise will rip this England team apart tactically in the latter stages.
Its even worse than you suggest - England play 4-2-3-1 with a rigid back four whereas all the top Premiere League teams play 4-3-3 with inverted full backs which helps overload the midfield and keep the ball - John Stones was immense doing this for Man City in their Champions League winning year - unfortunately I doubt Gareth knows what an inverted full back is. We're coming home

I can argue that they rely on foreigners in those clubs and leagues to "control" a game and "unlock" a defense. The british mocked Jorginho for starting for Italy and he ran the entire tournament. International football is different from club football and currently in my opinion the British have a hard to distinguishing this. I agree Southgate is a complete melon but I'm not convinced Klopp would have these boys strolling to a championship.

This is all because England should have a left back, and left sided midfielder comfortable playing wide. Added to this a number 6 who allows Rice to be more progressive. These are all thing England could have, but Southgate did not pick the right squad, and does not have the footballing sense to pick a balanced team from the squad we do have at the Euros.
When Southgate sees the team drop off 20 yards Southgate needs to be on the touchline barking at them.
