THANKS! This is the only video I found that was useful, of a whole bunch I watched, about where the "fill line" is when refilling the tank. The manual was of minimal help, if any at all.
The only thing missing was how to open the hood - had to refer to another video for that but this was extremely straightforward and helpful. Thank you!
Awesomely clear video, along with instructions on what to check and how much coolant you need. Fingers crossed my coolant leak from the tank goes away, didn't know about that maximum level measurement!
W204 C250 built Dec 2013 and has blue anti-freeze. Apparently hard to get from Mercedes stealerships now because it has been superseded by pink anti-freeze to comply with emission/pollution regulations. If you have blue and cannot locate it you will have to have a complete coolant flush and re-fill with pink. The type of water is another issue. De-mineralised is recommended. Distilled water rips the ions out of the engine metal. There are conflicting theories on which type of water to use. These Mercedes cars are very well engineered but are temperamental and fussy like f**ales. The Mercedes owner’s car manual mentions filling coolant to the level marker but doesn’t describe what or where that marker is. This video supplied the information that Mercedes overlooked when they printed the manual. Thanks for explaining what perplexed me until I searched the internet to get the information I needed.
When weather changes from hot to cold to freezing. Coolant extend. So when you drive, the car warms up then this will Lead to coolant to leak (over flow) therefore if the coolant reservoir was all clear plastic you will notice some bubbles that indicate evaporisation. If you add coolant every other day and couldn’t find the leak then that leak is going straight to the head gasket.
The question should be why does it goes down. My 2021 GLC300 loses about 1/4 inch below the T ever month after I fill it 1/4 inches above the T. Brought it to a Benz dealer and they said it is not leaking anywhere but it must be going somewhere.?
YEA HES LEAKING COOLANT. NOW HE GOTTA FIND OUT WHERE ITS LEAKING FROM. OR YOU JUST GONNA BE DUMPING COOLING AND CHECKING IT EVERY DAY OR OTHER DEPENDING ON HOW FAST AND BIG THE LEAK IS.
I own two Benz’s and have gotten this message at least once on both of them no leaks I park them both in a garage idk and can’t explain it but I’ve definitely had to add before
I bought my coolant for my C300 at the Mercedes dealership. It’s the best way to get the right coolant for your model. You can see my bill in the video of how much I paid. Hope this helps!
Have you been to a Merc dealer service lately? They would still have a SA write it up and at least the two dealers in my city youre talking a couple hours spent there. I bought a gallon on Zerek G40 50/50 premixed for $17. Just top off in the morn when you get warning and Go!
I really like my W205 C300! It looks good and has decent power to make it fun to drive. For a first car it might be a bit expensive but you can find ones that are 4-5 years old that are quite affordable. I’ve hear repairs on a Mercedes can be expensive but so far mine has not had any issues.
@@TheRenderQ I did check the coolant!! Went to autozone and didn’t have to mix it with water. It came ready 50/50 so I just poured it on in. I might be doing a lot more of this thanks to you!! To hell with a mechanic! Lol
I’m not sure why the coolant level drops or where it goes. I don’t see any coolant on my driveway. Maybe it could be a slow leak. But I had my car into my mechanic recently and he didn’t see anything. It’s been quite awhile but 2 weeks ago I had to refill the coolant again. But it’s been a long time since the last time I added more.
Reasons include: - Loose hoses. - Cracked / broken container, hoses, radiator. - Coolant getting into the combustion chamber and getting vaporized. While the others can be fixed diy, this requires advanced mechanical skills($$$£¥$$$)😉
@2:07 for safety, your hands should always be on top of the steering wheel not underhand. In an emergency this bad habit can get you in trouble. Thsnks for great videos. Cheers :)
Great video , but you do know you could have just filled it up with the distilled water right? You wouldn't have thrown off the entire mix by very much. And it's really only important if you live in very cold weather. Otherwise just fill the overflow container up with distilled water. No need to spend 40 X dollars on antifreeze. Just thought you should know.
sheesh man. i just looked at my coolant tank, it's really low. i afraid to drive it, so i took Uber to Mercedes dealer, website shows closed at 530pm, when i got there 520pm, they already closed! the guy there said parts dept closed at 430pm. then they should update their hours on the website! i just wasted 25$ on uber (round trip). going to give them 1 star review. just add distilled water is fine? i dont wanna be cheap and save 40 bucks and damaged my Mercedes engine. i going back to mercedes dealer tommororw morning.
@@TheRenderQ I think it’s normal with Mercedes since they put sensor for it, we got 2018 c300 with only 20k on it and it yesterday the light came on after 4 years of owning it
These days different brands have different coolant requirements! I’ve noticed this especially on German cars. It’s best to check your owner’s manual to determine what coolant you need. Even with Mercedes it depends on the year of the car.
After watching 3 pointless videos i found yours that helped me with my CLA 2014, thank you.
Did you refill your 2014 cla on your own? Mine is also low, afraid to do it on my own
You can do it on your own mines has came on twice in 2 years the coolant is fine no leaking I only had to add just a small amount when I did….

Oh yeah! The hood release is kinda integrated under the dash and not necessarily apparent when feeling for it! Thanks for watching!

Hi thank you for the video, do you need to bleed air after Adding Antifreeze Coolant?
Quick question it’s that normal to add some every year ?
Thank you for this topping up today, Texas 105 degree days evaporated some enough to kick on sensor.
Thank you so much for making this video. Now I can fix mine with ease.
How big is the coolant tank ?
