My NEW mate Vince. Thanks for this. Recently bought a 2010 C class and the warning came on yesterday. I always find clear instruction videos much easier than reading a manual and this is clearly explained an demonstrated.
Just great, thanks a lot. Very clear. I didn't know where to put the coolant first, just got my Benz and it was different than my former one. Thanks again Vince.
Thank you for this, first time in 4 years that this warning light has come up and I wanted to make sure I followed the correct procedure. Very clear instructions
Mercedes has two types of coolant: red and blue. Make sure you choose the correct one that matches what you already have in your car. Also, DO NOT exceed the black marker point. Otherwise when the coolant heats up it will expand and the pressure buildup will cause cracks in the expansion tank or worse it will blow the lid off which will be an expensive repair. Always use deionized/distilled water so salts dont build up in your radiator and engine. Dont go cheap on coolant. Always pick MB and avoid coolant mismatch.
@@KhaledTheSaudiHawkII i mixed the coolant in my car and dipped a paper. The color came back green. So yellow and blue mixed together equals green, and im thinking about emptying it and put the right coolant which is blue? My car is a C200 2011
thank you for this video! very helpful! if I have the check coolant light on, how long can I drive without any damages? the store is not very close. thank you!
Great video vince, very helpful. I’ve got the blue coolant in my car so will get same to match. Great tip on the black marker too as there’s no min/max lines on the expansion chamber. 👍🏻
Hello. I completely fill the tanker to the top, but after 3 hours driving it dropped off, so do u believe it moved around the pipe and hose or somewhere has leaking?
Zerex G48 is the coolant to buy for benzes that need the blue stuff Buy the 50/50 premixed if you don’t like mixing. (mb325.0 spec) Zerex G40 is the coolant for benzes that use the red stuff. (mb 325.5 spec). Why buy the exact same stuff from the dealer at a higher cost?
If the coolant is at the bottom of the black marker bar when cold, there is enought coolant in coolant expansion tank If the coolant is 1.5 cm above the black marker bar when hot, there is enough coolant in coolant expansion tank
Mercedes Benz don't make there own coolant. they are supplied by Valvoline. Zerex G-48 is the same blue coolant that MB uses. you can tell by the same bottle shape they share.
hello mate i had the same problem 2 weeks ago and my mechanic replaced the water pump with a belt but now i have another problem i.e. at the bottom of the engine under the fan there is an oil stain. Had it had something to do with the coolant thanks
If you fill the expansion tank up too full, there will be a huge pressure build up and the lid of the expansion tank could literally blow off!!!. They're called expansion tanks for a very good reason. When the coolant in the car is heated up, the molecules within it expand and if you overfill a tank, not only could you risk blowing the lid off, you also risk blowing a hole in one of the coolant hoses, which would be a disaster, so never overfill an expansion tank.
€30 on Comma's G48 antifreeze coolant to top up for the damn reservoir to be empty the next day with the warning up again the following morning... Me thinks I got a leak. 😭
How much is the (ml) difference between the marker and the dashboard warning, mine loses this amount every ~2000 miles, (OM642 engine). Not sure if this is worth investigating by a mechanic, or try a home repair liquid thing, or just leave it?
how can you explain loosing that much coolant? and also in the 2009 c300 will i get that exact message ? all i get is the radiator icon nice in big in the center part of the display
Very helpful video. Where did you buy the Mercedes anti freeze? Is it at Mercedes service centre or online? The warning came on today, can I still drive to the local Halfords to get the De-ionized water? Thanks
Quick question - if you do your mix and it turns out you've got let's say 100ml leftover, couldn't you just put it into a container and save it for next time? Or will it then be useless and hence needing to get rid? thanks
Thanks , can I ask a stupid question; my Merc C 220 CDi displayed this warning , I just wondered, is there a reason or an underlying issue I should be concerned about or is it a normal occurrence that engine coolant requires a top up?
There can be an issue, but coolant is gradually "used up" through normal use. So most likely you are ok. If the check coolant light comes on repeatedly there could be problems. If you manually look at the level and see it isn't lower -- possibly an electrical issue for detecting the coolant. If coolant level lowers very quickly -- possibly a leak.
Thanks, ive been checking every day since topping up a week ago, and it seems to have remained constant , I didnt realise that the coolant level would gradually decrease over time as a result of use. I had the coolant replaced over 2 years ago and have covered some 55k miles in that time. this is the firs time the warning has come on and since topping up it seems to be fine. Does that period of time and mileage seem consistent with the level dropping ?
Guys what would happen if put too much in? For instance, coolant expansion tank looks the same as shown i.e about half-full, with warning coming up on dash. However, instead of using 300 ml as shown I put in approx 400-450 ml, meaning the coolant is now above the bottom of the black marker and capacity of tank looks 'full' from the side of the tank. Not all the way to the top, but above the black marker by about 1.0 - 1.5 cm. All done whilst the engine was fully cooled. Is this serious guys.. have I screwed up? Where would any excess coolant go in a 2011 C180 (W204)? Thanks a lot for your time.

When I am playing super Mario odessy I can see Mario walking by himself when I don’t thouch the joycon please help me it’s annoying ✌️
Hi, try calibrating it. Go to System settings then Controllers and Sensors then Calibrate Control Sticks to see if that helps. I am not sure about Mario Odyssey as I don't have it but check motion controls are off because on MarioKart it can cause drift.
You could try calibrating it but some controllers do develop "stick wander" where the stick doesn't return to it's neutral position when you release it. If you are still having problems, try gently nudging the stick towards the center. The best thing to do if it has stick wander is to return it because that's basically a hardware defect.

Thanks for the video. Been watching countless videos trying to find where to fill the coolant up to and this was the only one that covered that.

When mixing things like this, it's best to add the water first so it won't splatter your chemicals everywhere

Of course you can use tap water... he does say in the video he's only using de-ionised water because he lives in hard water area.

Will it be safe to say because I live in a hot and humid country that I only need tap water to fill up my C200?
