    The cracks in these shower pans are caused because they are not properly supported over the entire surface of the bottom side. But well, it looks really nice the pvc flooring!

    Hi Jordan, nice to meet you this morning. Plastic shower trays can be repaired by a Speedcoat technician who can fibreglass the crack and coat will a special 2-part polymer called Speedliner, but if you wanted to do it DIY you can use their DIY product SPEEDTEX. It's a 2-part sprayable polymer that can also be rollered on and will cure rock hard whilst retaining some flex. It's pretty impossible to scratch or crack due to its flexibility.
    I have used SPEEDTEX on the outside of my van (you saw it on my bumpers) instead of Raptor as it's not as hard or brittle, the flex stops it from cracking or chipping. It's also antibacterial so perfect for shower trays 👍🏼

      Thanks mate I will have a look into it shortly up to now the showers holding up nicely but I do want to seal it off sooner rather than later 🙌

    • @chrisb5839
      @chrisb5839 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steps2adventure you could quite easily rough your existing surface up with sandpaper, give it a coat of their primer, and roll the Speedtex on to completely seal it all off. Tough as old boots 💪🏻

    Hey jords, on your van do you have a mini water pump for shower pressure ect or summit else. I’m in the process of converting my mates transit high top 2020 👍

    Looking at those supports you had under the tray it seemed to have cracked where it wasn’t supported.

    Jordan could you not have done the same as a wet room flooring? That way the material would come up from the base to all the 4 sides as a one and you would just slice around the top edges. You wouldn’t ever need to worry about the silicone or poxy degenerating over time

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah we could have done that we just wanted the tile affect as it will be epoxy resin in the long run so won't need to worry about it not being waterproof

    Looks great! Out of interest, how did you do the plug? Is it just a hole through to the bottom or does it feed to a tank somewhere?

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is just a hole with a plug through the bottom but then we attached a pipe that goes into a small tank 😊

  • @daviddring8692

    It looks good. But how is the water going to run away. There's no fall into the waste like a shower tray

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      There was no fall in our last shower tray, we just park on a slight angle 😂😂 van life reality haha!

    How’s the tiles holding up after a year wondering wether there worth using in mine ?

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Still absolutely fine! 🥰

  • @niklar55
    @niklar55 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should have lined the opening with 2-3 layers of builders Damp Proof Membrane, BEFORE installing your tiles.
    The tiles will flex, and the joints will unseal with time.
    With a DPM, that won't matter, because the DPM will contain any leakage.

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea 👌 however this is more of a temporary fix we will be making a drying room in the future but we use the shower outside more than the one inside mainly going to be used for wetsuits 😊

      If there will be water, it will still apply.
      Water seeping under the tiles will lead to rot, mould, and eventual collapse. Not healthy.
      Believe me, 25 years as a builder.

    • @Steps2adventure
      @Steps2adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure it will be fine 💪 no way those tiles are moving anywhere

    • @niklar55
      @niklar55 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steps2adventure
      Plywood flexes, and timber expands and contracts, with changes in temperature and humidity.
      Any tiles connected to it will therefore also move. Repeated movement will cause joints to fail.
      Same way the shower tray failed.

      If you had watched to the end then you would know what changes are going to be made in the coming months IE epoxy resin 😂

    People just don't share enough info these days. You could have gone to a metal shop and had a stainless steel pan made to the same dimension as the plastic pan. Popped it in and sealed the edges.
