I used to have really bad breath and keto and IF changed that. But when i'm having a tough time my breath gets bad but clears up the minute conditions change. Kefir and sauerkraut are my daily medicine and not watching the news really helps

I think also when people are afraid, their mouth dries out, and then the mouth microbiome is diminished.

Interesting info Dr Berg. I had this prob due to a tooth infection, which ironically my dentist couldn't treat, and told me it will go eventually, then I had to treat it myself at home adding clove oil to my brush every morning, which amazingly healed my tooth and the breath prob in days, yet I understand that you're talking here about psychological causes for this prob, which is totally new info to me.

I found omega3’s important. You need to feed your brain. When I started years ago (within 6 years) to get healthier oils (avocado, coconut, and especially extra virgin olive oil) in my diet it was like I became a new person. People said that they could physically see a difference in me for the good. And that was when my diet was still crappy. Now my diet is great (healthy keto and IF) and I feel and am like a new person.

Overall, your mood can affect your microbes, and your microbes can affect your mood. The quality of your breath is directly related to the balance of your microbes.
Antibiotics or antifungals wipes out microbial population.
Cortisol suppresses the diversity of microbes you have and paralyzes your immune system.
Sauerkraut and kefir are fantastic foods you can consume to help promote a healthy ratio of bacteria, yeast, and fungus.
What to try for anxiety and depression:
    • Take vitamin D (for depression)
    • Take vitamin B1 (for anxiety)
    • Get outdoors
    • Exercise
    • Do physical work outdoors
    • Try indoor rock climbing
    • Change your diet (get on the Healthy Keto diet)

The first 'morning after' my boyfriend (now deceased husband) and I spent together he was amazed lol, I didn't have morning breath. When he got sick, then suffered six years of one terminal illness after another my stress, anxiety, depression and deep sadness was a nightmare. Still is with him gone, out of nowhere I will breakdown with one awful emotion or other sometimes all three hit me at once even tho he's been gone many years. But through it all, then and now I have never had bad breath. I feel lucky because bad breath is a pet peeve of mine, oral hygiene is a big deal. I cannot talk w/ someone with bad breath it really is a turn off. I always assumed is was laziness and very poor hygiene but now I will be more understanding.

I think you are right in everything you said. When somebody is afraid, his breath smells a certain way. When a person eats too much sugar, the mouth yeast smells a certain way. Eating kefir definitely helps boost the microbiome. Vitamin D and direct sunlight is so helpful to our immune system and to reduce stress.
I have a question about fermented cabbage. Do we have to buy the refrigerated kind at the health food store, or is sauerkraut in a jar just as beneficial?

    • @blisterbill8477
      @blisterbill8477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The refrigerated types of sauerkraut and kimchi are pickled by fermentation and most of them will still have active or inactive cultures.
Most of the canned or non refrigerated ones will have been pickled in vinegar so won’t have the bacterial cultures.
The ones made by fermentation are typically more beneficial.

Yet he constantly says to eat it...I would LOOOOVE to eat it again if it wouldn't give me such horrible migraines when I do. I also found out I can't eat pickles very often either (my old Neurologist told me about pickles being a trigger and I forgot till I ate 3 and was down for days 😳😭) so I guess I just can't eat anything with vinegar in it 🤷‍♀️

I'm a Dentist, and have patients that could truly benefit from a high quality probiotic with the streptococcus salivarius Blis K12 and Blis M18 as the active ingredients without the additives that all the current products with these probiotics contain. Every oral probiotic that contains these ingredients also includes isomalt, inulin, stevia etc. None of these help, often triggering GI issues for patients so patients don't follow through on taking these products. If you can create such a product with only the probiotics and no additional GI irritating ingredients or sugars, and avoiding any sugar alcohols as well would do very well.

Dr. Berg, maybe you can create a video series on limiting our exposure to the industrial-grade chemical world (through use of soaps and detergents, skin and hair care products, and things absorbed through the skin and air). What we eat is MOST important, of course, but what we absorb through the skin and lungs is also of vital import. Thx for any education in this area!!!

That would probably take a lot of research with a ton of cross reference to be presented. But that subject matter is so deep, I would suspect he would want to do a presentation in front of colleagues and layman. That probably a 2 he lecture minimum.

This just proves FASTING is essential to our health. Seems like no matter who you are, a extended fasting of 3-7 days every single month. And if you have other issues, it seems a 48-72hour fast weekly is a must.

Interesting information. Thank you Dr. Berg. Off topic, but what do you think about the safety of chlorinated pools for our skin bacteria. I've been enjoying taking my children to the YMCA, but was wondering what you think about the harm to our skin bacteria and if it is harmful, do the benefits of exercise outweigh the possible loss of beneficial bacteria.
