    I had mucus coming up my throat for 40 years since I was a kid, and I always wondered why. When I contracted covid in 2021, the X-ray showed a mass in my airway the size of a softball and turned out it had a quart of fluid. This cyst was pushing against my right airway to my lung. it actually bent it, and that's what caused the irritation that caused the green phlegm to come up for 40 years. I had the cyst removed 5 months after its discovery. If I didn't catch covid i never would have known this.

    I’ve lived with the combo platter of throat mucus, Gerd, acid reflux, hiatal hernia and IBS for a since I was in my 30s. 73 now and your tip of drinking water with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar has helped tremendously. My doctors have only prescribed acid blockers which work temporarily and aren’t a solution, perhaps even a detriment. I’m also trying to eat smaller meals with little or no carbs. Thanks, I’m especially enjoying these low cost remedies that actually work.

      I had thin water like mucus, post nasal drip, mine coming from bio-film, from living in a house that had mold in the AC/Heat central air system, moved into a new place and could not stop the post nasal drip, mine was white clear post nasal drip, for 2 years I lived with this, it was driving be crazy, wiping my nose all day, this was about 7 yrs ago, I was sent to a Allergy doctor and he could not stop it either, I finally went on line and started searching myself, came across about stop all diary and did that, saw where drink filtered water with half spoon of apple cider vinger with the mother and fresh squeezed lemon juice in the water, made up a pitcher of filtered water every night with 3 large lemons squeezed in it and would cut up the lemon peeling with the white part into the water, put in fridge overnight for next day, as you drink next day add half tsp of the acvinger in each glass, did this for 3 straight weeks, every day, and guess what, after 2 long yrs of a running nose all day, It was completly gone, never to return, And since covid vax virus started with jab shots started, I bought 2 bottles at CVS of the beniodine sore throat gargle, watched a doctor's video about how if you caught the CV, the first day you have the sore throat, start garling with it, it would kill the cv bacteria in the respitory and never get in the chest, this was back in 2020, I still do it now if my throat feels sore at all, its a antesptic, I learned long ago, doctors messed up my immune system with lots of antibotics and presription drugs when I got my nerves and muscles damaged in a car accident.

    REALLY IMPORTANT!!! YOU HAVE TO USE DISTILLED OR BOILED WATER IN A NETI POT!! I'm surprised Dr. Berg did not mention that. It is SO important, there have been rare instances where people have died from infection that spreads to the brain from microorganisms in the water they use. Use distilled water or water that has been boiled for at least 3 minutes and cooled.

      It's not Cow's milk that is essentially the problem. It's the Cow that it comes from. There are 100% A2/A2 breeds which produce A2 milk and which does not contain A1 casein. This is precisely why ancient Indians & other ancient civilizations insisted on preserving native cow breeds and to not create hybrids from them.

    • @infullbloom3246
      @infullbloom3246 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you drink milk, especially in USA, you drink milk of 100+ cows, most of them are sick, with cancer and filled with antibiotics and vaccines. Also, USA cows have A1/A2 protein that body cant digest. USA milk causes asthma, schizophrenia etc. Best are Indian cows, they produce only A2.

    I'm amazed because what you explain should be part of THE BASICS in medical studies, and it seems that no doctor ever wants to really address the cause of this so common problem otherwise than with drugs, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. I have tons of these "little problems" that had never been solved by any doctors until I looked for the causes myself. Allopathic medicine really has to rethink their ways, because people are losing their trust in doctors, and trying to find you own solutions without a certain background can lead people to make the bad choices too. This said, your channel is priceless : thank you for raising awareness and making trustful information available for everyone !

      Western doctors didn't used to be these assembly factory workers. This is the product of goverment schools and programs. They used to visit patients instead of beeing stuck in a hospital, know their patients, know their environment and were able to mix traditional remedies with medicine.
      Right now diet is the biggest killer by far and big pharma is so strong you get things like mandatory experimental drugs without proper testing and zero liability.

    Potential causes of constant mucus and how to get rid of mucus:
    1. GERD
    • Take apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride before meals
    2. Postnasal drip
    • Use a neti pot with water and sea salt (for mild cases)
    • Use a neti pot with water and a small amount of baby shampoo (for more severe cases)
    • Use a Q-tip to apply a diluted povidone-iodine mixture to the inside of both nostrils and gargle with the rest of the mixture
    3. Allergies
    • Avoid potential environmental triggers
    • Do intermittent and prolonged fasting
    • Avoid dairy
    You can also try a unique acupressure technique that I’ve found works wonders to get rid of mucus-and don't forget to support your immune system.
    The best ways to support your immune system:
    1. Consume more garlic
    2. Avoid sugar
    3. Take vitamin D
    4. Take vitamin C
    5. Take zinc
    6. Take calcium lactate (for a cough)

It kills all the good bacteria too throughout the body including the nose and throat so you end up with a worse bacterial situation then when you started. The good bacteria eat the bad bacteria so when you kill the good bacteria the next time you encounter bad bacteria there is no good bacteria left to eat it. He explains other ways of killing this bad bacteria and of course you have to reintroduce good bacteria back into the body which I am trying to do by drinking kefir and eating sour kraut every day. I'm a heavy smoker who used to have a constant phlegm and saliva problem, my sister recommended to me all sorts of stuff (apple cider vinegar, special teas, etc) i even took cough syrups and other medications, but ultimately i found they only worked for a short time or up until my next smoke and my airways would get all clogged again. What I started doing and what i recommend to others with the same problem is try to learn how to breath properly (sounds simple enough i know but people don't). 1st raise your chin when you breath don't keep it tucked into your neck, 2nd inhale deeply through your nose and exhale from your mouth and 3rd try to hold you breath for as long as you can (like when you were a kid). i did these 3 things and i went from coughing up brown and black goo every morning to being able to run again and having transparent/clear spit. hope my 2 cents could help someone going through this and save you some money

    Dr. Berg, you have just saved a singer. I watched this video 3 times. I am a singer, and I have had huge problems with constant thick phlegm in my throat for several years, and going off dairy for 6 weeks did nothing. I was beginning to be afraid that my singing days were over, because I can 't rely on getting a clear tone out; mucous is constant and abundant. WELL...following your advice for salt water and a neti pot (morning and evening) and then gargling with that salt water, plus using the iodine swabs after, has transformed my singing life. In just 7 days. I know that GERD, which I also have, is still making mischief with mucous, but I'm working on that following your advice as well. I can't believe the difference in just a week. Can't believe it. Oh, I also bought your acupressure tool, as I know that my constant neck issues are contributing as well. THANK YOU!

When I do the Neti pot I raise my head to mirror level and sniff down the salt water, but I’ll stop it at my throat and spits it out, and I do that after rinsing each nostril. It seems to reach an area that the Neti pot doesn’t reach. The area would be between the nostril and your throat and doing it that way helps when I get a sore throat also.

    I wanted to add here, in my experience, getting rid of gluten in my diet did it (took 35 years to realize it). No more mucus stuck in my throat or clearing my throat all the time. For me, gluten has a inflammatory effect on my esophagus and digestive system to where what normally runs down the back of your throat, couldn't because of the inflammation. It also caused my nose to run all the time. Couple that with a diet of dairy and it can get miserable (Pizza is a double whammy). Takes a couple days for it to clear up but breathing through your nose and not clearing your throat all the time is worth it. It's an intolerance to gluten, I can eat it, I just choose not to. It's a quality of life type thing.

    • @WeedsMcJohnson
      @WeedsMcJohnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      @Emma Rose - Yes, besides my original post, uncontrollable heartburn all the time with bread/gluten in my diet. Took Prilosec for a long time and that just destroys your digestive system. Finally figured out that the heartburn wasn't caused by too much acid, it's because you tend to not make so much as you get older (yes, they tell you the opposite). So now, I don't do the gluten much, I take the Betaine Hydrochloride every day to keep my acid level in good shape along with a probiotic which keeps you loaded up with good bacteria in your digestive system. Also limit the dairy intake because for me, it creates a lot of mucus. All that coupled together and life is 100% better and no more heartburn except when I get off-track with my diet. No excessive mucus, no clearing of my throat, no coughing, no heartburn or GERD. It's been a very long haul since no one tells you these things (including my parents of whom I inherited this mess), but I have the fix now and I finally feel better.

    • @WeedsMcJohnson
      @WeedsMcJohnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @Emma Rose It was a long road of learning and figuring out what works. I drink "Core" brand water because the PH level in the water really helps the gut. I take the Hydrochloride once per day in the morning along with 'Enzymedica Digest Gold w/ Probiotics' with food to keep acid levels proper. Between those three things it keeps the heartburn away really well. As for how long it takes to fix, everyone is different. My trial and error went on for years. but now if I was to summarize, I'd say you'd see a nice difference within a week or two. This is all about gut health and having enough acid and good bacteria. Of course everyone is different and this isn't a one-size-fixes all, type thing but it worked for me. Now it's just a daily routine.

    • @WeedsMcJohnson
      @WeedsMcJohnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i swear no mucus no coughing everything vanished.
      but sadly i began to eat gluten again, not much but still it's just not good for me so everytime i eat something i remind myself is this making me feel good or bad so i can condition myself to not like those things.
      making it a habit can be tricky but as you said it is worth not having to suffer which is why ima start eliminating gluten again. thanks for the reminder and have a blessed life fellow human

Ever time I eat either kimchi or sauerkraut it drains my sinuses throughly… I can breath much better. And on top of that I consume roughly 1/4- 1/2 tsp of sea salt daily and that has done wonders for me also, hardly ever get phlegm in the back of my throat anymore. I’m happy to hear someone point out that acid reflux is not always hyper-acidity and more often, especially with age, can be caused by low acidity. As we age, the acid in our stomachs more often weaken, than getting higher.
    People ask me how low acid can cause the heartburn? Well, if your stomach acid becomes low, the stomach digests slower. That can cause your meals to pile up. Your stomach will not release the food until it is completely liquified.
    That can cause your lunch to pile into your stomach when breakfast is still there. If that continues, then the food will back up into the esophagus where the mucus lining is thinner and has less protection from the stomach acid, so it burns in your throat.
    So many doctors would always write scripts for proton pump inhibitors for people with heartburn. If their actual problem is low acid, this can only make things worse. Proton pump inhibitors are not meant to be on indefinitely. It’s supposed to be for two weeks and then two weeks off. When people take them constantly, they will often lose the ability to absorb vitamin B12, which can lead to anemia and other problems.
    Stomach acid has to be pretty strong in order for the intrinsic factor to bind to the B12 in order to protect it from the stomach acid. If the intrinsic factor doesn’t bind to vitamin B12, your body can’t absorb the B12. At that point, it doesn’t matter how much B12 is in your diet and even taking B12 supplements can’t work if the intrinsic factor can’t bind to the B12 because your stomach acid is too weak.
    Taking a small amount of Apple Cider Vinegar is a good idea for those with low stomach acid. That was good advice he gave. Also eating fermented foods, like fermented pickles or sauerkraut with meals can also help with digestion and preventing GERD caused by low acid.
    I liked a lot of your advice. Candida is a big problem because of the high amount of starch and sugar in the American diet.

      True! I was prescribed Nexium for over 15 years due to "atypical acid reflux" which seemed counterintuitive, but without Nexium I'd vomit and have to take phenergan then spend the day in bed.
      Thankfully my gastroenterologist learned to do the TIF procedure. Had it done and I've been off all antacid meds for over 5 years.
      Unfortunately, I think I've torn one or more of the cleats loose due to overeating at a holiday meal last year, but no digestive issues have resulted. I've learned that many people need a repair within a few years. I'm not looking forward to it. But probably should have the doc take a look.

    The underlying cause of mucus in the throat (which in my case was thick and lasted for years) is linked to an infection in the body. The mucus usually develops for years in the nasal cavities and becomes very hard to eliminate. If it's thick, it has the cause in some sort of infection in the body, and also probably in the dental areas of the upper teeth (root canal maybe). The solution has to do with eliminating the inflammation in the body (related to dental infections, infection in the body, stress, sleep, diet, microbiome, exercise, mental state, yoga, movement, posture, spine health, and also other causes maybe). Cleaning and washing the sinuses using a Neti pot is the BEST way to relieve the mucus problem until you heal the inflammation in the body. Once you heal the cause, the inflammation will be gone and the mucus will disappear.

      I really liked the Neti pot. However I have a deviated septum, and after using the Neti Pot it could be five, six, hours later and I would be out in public somewhere and water would just push out of my nose. It was too embarrassing, I had to stop using it.

    I have post nasal drip and sinus pressure for years since removing large polyp in my maxillary and living in an area of burn pits and waste treatment for 9 months. I would love to be able to live without it. People that spend time with me notice my breathing and throat clearing

    Dr. Berg, your videos are incredibly helpful and transparent. I was doing some health coaching research and I bumped int to your video. Brother, I am glad you have all these topics about health, especially in this day in time. One issue I have been battling since forever is (Mucus) that I feel is postnasal, and it just seeps down my throat and its a (Phlegm) Orquestra up in there. Lol. sorry for the nasty description. Unfortunately, my 32-year-old daughter also suffers from the same. She's like dad, I got this darn issue, thanks to you, in humorous terms of course. But yes, it really sucks! I am going to try your remedy and see what it can do for my issues. Thank you again, for your amazing videos sir! God bless you and keep up these great instructional health videos.

    Doc...you have gave me high hopes to recovery...it will be a miracle to find out that my issues are from S.I.B.O. I have thought for a few years that S.I.B.O. was really my problem. I went to a gastrointestinal doctor for symptoms of Ciliacs disease thinking I just had I.B.S. so with that I've had the flem, constipation, bad gas, and bloating for the last 10 years. I've been on a gluten free diet for about the last 6 years and most of my symptoms are gone except for the flem, constipation, gas, and bloating. I went back to the doctor because of these issues. I blew into a machine or tube, and the doctor said I was positive for candida? He gave me antibiotics I took for 7 days. It didn't help my condition. I'm starting your program with the apple cider vinegar, cleaning the nose with the Iodine, and salt. I'm doing the vitamin A, and D as well. Also doing a garlic, and zinc pill. I wanted to ask you about the Betaine Hydrochloride? You said to start with 5 pills and work my way up as far as I can go. I purchased a bottle of those at 790 mg. Is 5 OK to start with at that dose? Also I forgot to mention the most important part to why i want to try your program. the last couple of years I've had some bad acid reflux attacks so it makes total sense in having the S.I.B.O. so this is why I want to try your program on ridding the S.I.B.O.

    Great video ! Actually, being a vocal coach, I have noticed that pressing some points behind of our neck , it really helps to get recovered from the sore throat.. I always say to my students to massage that part of the neck before singing and, in general , few times a day when / if we don't feel well ... Happy to hear this kind advice from such an amazing doctor as you are !!🙏🙏🙏🔝🔝🔝👏👏👏

      I discovered these acupressure points this fall when I finally caught Covid and had a sinus headache. To passively stimulate these points I take a bandana and roll it into a rope that I can tie around my head, going from the nape of my neck up to the top of my head. Then I take some thin flexible refrigerator magnets (the cheap advertising kind) and tuck them into the space between the bandana and the acupressure points at the nape of the neck. The magnets create an electrical stimulation of the points, eliminating the need to apply pressure. I find that wearing magnets at night causes too much electrical stimulation, and a feeling of anxiety, but wearing these magnets for a few hours during the day had a carry-over effect that lasted all night long to prevent the sinus pain, so I didn't have to wear them while sleeping.
