- VN24 - 23.03.2022 - Unna A1 / Germany - A rear-end collision occurred at around 11:43 h on the A1 freeway near Unna. At the level of milepost 320, a tailback of several trucks had formed on the right of three lanes southbound in the direction of Cologne. The driver of an articulated truck apparently failed to notice this and collided with the truck in front of him. While the other truck was able to continue its journey with only minor damage, the tractor-trailer that had collided with it came to a halt with considerable damage. Due to the force of the accident, the tractor's fifth-wheel plate was torn out of its fastenings and the steered rear axle of the trailer turned sideways. With a lot of technical effort, the tractor could be separated. The entire fifth wheel got stuck on the kingpin of the trailer. The tractor and trailer had to be towed away by a recovery company.

Das sollte sich die Hersteller Firma der Sattelkupplung ( Jost ) mal genauer anschauen. Neben den hellen frischen Bruchstellen des Gusskörpers befinden sich rostbraune Flächen, ergo war die Kupplung durch alte Anrisse bereits geschwächt.

A bit worrying Mr Kollmer scrambling under the truck with the hand set next to him. Could have accidentally hit one of the buttons and caused a serious injury. Always leave hand controls out of the immediate vicinity.

aber eines muss ich mal sagen der Fahrer wäre bei mir mit solch einem Unordentlichem Fahrzeug nicht vom Hof gefahren gut vieles Flog auch durch den unfall durch die gegend aber sone Müllhalde wäre bei mir in den fahrzeugen absolut verboten

Die Sattelplatten reißen in der letzten Zeit häufig ab. oder soll das so sein Sollbruchstelle ? Um höheren Schaden zu vermeiden ?

It looked like the brackets were some cheap cast iron, maybe even cast aluminum. I've seen trucks completely destroyed and the fifth wheel was still in place.
if you repeatedly slam the fifth wheel into trailers when hooking up it'll gradually weaken the joints where it's mounted - can cause microfractures, accelerated fatigue and turn the holes oval. But the fifth wheel is usually the strongest joint on the whole truck, so there's likely something wrong with how it was mounted.

und für son scheiss müssen wir den leiden und zahlen, weil der nicht ordenlich gewartet wurde. die staus die das verursacht , die mehr arbeit weil du nicht pünktlich zum kunden kommst und so weiter. Sowas kotzt mich an
Unverständlich, das ein LKW fahrer, in solch ein müllhaufen tageslang arbeiten kann, und das Seinen firma nichts dazu sagen!
