- VN24 - 02/07/2022 - Schwerte / Germany - The A1 freeway northbound had to be closed until late at night on Monday (February 7) due to a traffic accident. According to previous findings, a 26-year-old truck driver from Belarus overlooked the end of a traffic jam at 15:22 o'clock and collided with the semitrailer truck of a 33-year-old driver. The force of the impact pushed the 33-year-old's vehicle even further into the truck of a 40-year-old driver in front of him. Two truck drivers were taken to hospitals as a precautionary measure, but were later able to leave them unharmed.
In the traffic accident, a rack with numerous shop windows in one of the trucks came loose and settled on the ground in the trailer. About 22 tons of glass and broken glass had to be pulled out of the back of the vehicle and disposed of at great expense. The cleanup efforts dragged on until about 11:25 p.m. due to a large amount of glass.

I'm not particularly safety-minded when doing jobs, but with this glass at 6:00 I would at least wear some eye protection.

Allowing operatives to break sheets of glass with hammers wearing no protective head or face gear is IMHO pure insanity!! I hope the rescue company gets a very heavy fine and a reprimand.

Die Frau, die die Glasscheiben zerhauen hat, mit dem Hammer ist sehr leichtsinnig gewesen, da kann es schnell passieren, dass kleine Glasstücke in die Augen kommen. Besser wäre, eine Schutzbrille dabei zu tragen.
Unverantwortlich so ein Verhalten, da müssen Handschuhe, Augenschutz und Arbeitsschuhe verwendet werden. Einer der Leute - wahrscheinlich der Chef oder Vorarbeiter hat Turnschuhe an............... Scheint eine ganz tolle Firma zu sein

Unbelievable. Glass shards everywhere, other than gloves no protection at all. Obviously no health and safety procedures in Germany.
Absolutely! I did some agency driving for a local glassworks and I wasn't allowed to touch the load - no specialised training, no specialised PPE. Glass is horrible stuff to handle, and as for smashing large pieces into smaller pieces with a sledgehammer without any eye protection - well, words fail me!
To say nothing of the clouds of glass dust. Silicosis is one horrible lung disease -- incurable and kills hundreds of U.S. workers annually.

Und keiner der Helfer trägt einen Helm und schon gar keine Schutzbrille. Ich finde das sehr fahrlässig beim Umgang mit so grossen Glasscheiben!

Well that was about the worst clean up I've ever seen on here, at least when the Widliczek crew turned up the clean up was handled better. You could plainly see the dust from the broken glass and they continued to walk about an hit it all with out any eye protection, that first company should loose their licence if one is needed. I hope you stayed well out of the dust VN24, Nice filming.

Where was the health and safety with all that glass. They never had any safety gear on when smashing the glass. They should have had goggles and hard hats on incase of flying glass while they were shattering it with a heavy hammer.

Heftig! Ich würde mich ja jetzt nicht als Arbeitsschutzfanatiker bezeichnen, aber fleißig Glasstaub inhalieren und ohne Helm und Augenschutz mit einem Vorschlaghammer riesige Glasscheiben zerschlagen finde ich schon relativ stumpf. So ein Bruchstück von diesen großen Glasscheiben kann einem mühelos den Arm abtrennen, wenn das auf Jemanden stürzt der da zu nah dran steht…
Was da für Idioten am Werke waren, ist schon mehr als bemerkenswert. Hoffe die Berufsgenossenschaft hat das Video gesehen und der Firma eine richtige Lektion erteilt.

hi there well i think if the heat of your fingers are enough to change the reading then the equipment you set with it would also be effected , there for the heat at the motor end of your lathe would also have the ability to change it at one end .or a heat or a/c draft . i do know when the sun hits my sawmill blade on the 1/2 of it above the track it gives it a fit . as Casey says if you say its perfect you just didn't measure it close enough john

they are having truck accidents almost daily on this stretch Autobahn, all of these trucks used to be on rail. Now more and more trucks enter the streets, it is almost too dangerous to drive a care on the Autobahn.
This makes me laugh, here in the UK we would have to do so many things to adhere to the health and safety laws brought in by the EU, but over there, you just casually smash plate glass with a sledge hammer whilst standing under it 🤣

Die Abschleppdienst nehmen doch keine Rücksicht auf die Ladung,muß ja noch mehr kaputt gemacht werden.Man könnte ja auch mal versuchen was von der Ladung noch heile ist ,auch heile zu lassen und nicht noch weiter kaputt machen.Wenn ein Teil der Ladung noch Heile ist denn könnte man die auch hHeile lassen.Sonst sollte man den Abschleppdienst das mit in Rechnung stellen,wenn ware noch zu retten ist.
@Torsten Marschall Du bist noch nie Glasinnenlader gefahren. Die Ladung ist nach diesen Auffahrunfall komplett hinüber. Das Abschleppunternehmen hätte nichts machen können.
Die Ladung bzw. die Reste hätte kein Kunde der Welt angenommen auch wenn es umsonst Angeboten wäre.
Beim Anheben des Glaspaket wäre bestimmt ineinander zusammen gebrochen.

@@michaelhermann9990 Überhaupt sind es keine Schaufensterscheiben sondern Rohglas von der Produktion. Kommt beim Kunden auf dem Schneidtisch.
Die Glasscheiben sind 6m lang und 3,21m hoch wie sollte man es entsorgen nach deiner Meinung?
Der Marschall macht sich keine Vorstellung, welche Spannungen in diesen Glastafeln herrschen, seitdem sie durch den Aufprall aus dem Gleichgewicht gebracht wurden, das sind Tonnen von Glas, kein Spezialunternehmen würde sich da heranwagen, ev. noch ein paar heile Tafeln zu retten. Die bersten bei falscher Berührung in große, lebensgefährliche Stücke! Das ist schließlich kein Sicherheitsglas! Oh Mann!
