Number 1 hit my feels. I lost my mom to cancer when I was young, but one of my fondest memories of her revolves around Banjo Kazooie. Every weekend she would take me to blockbuster to rent that game. I know it sounds silly, like “why didn’t you ever just buy it?” but I love that memory. Riding in the car, walking through the store knowing exactly what I was going to get. One of my favorite memories ever. Thank you for unlocking that

Sorry the hear that man... lost my mom too from cancer three years ago. Whenever I want a happy memory to remember, I think of the time my parents brought me to toysrus to get mega man battle network 3.
Small memories can build up more than a big one
I remember my mom would only rent games when we had enough reward points from renting movies. My older brother and I would literally be arguing over which game we should get because we would go hard all weekend on it. Some of those games I remember better than Christmas or birthday games

The game was released the same year I was born, so I was born a little too late to enjoy it as much as most people did when the game was in its heyday. I’m so glad my dad kept his old Xbox with him because I would’ve have been able to play the game at all otherwise. I have fond memories playing through the campaign (not so much on Legendary lol) and split screen with my cousins doing the super bounces on multiplayer. The first three Halos all have a special place in my heart. Wow sorry for the novel lol but yeah the first three Halo games were incredible, 2 might be my favorite as well.

Portal 2, I think, will always be my favorite game. I mean, there are so many reasons why it's my favorite- great level design, an awesome concept, amazing voice acting, a perfectly-paced story, leaving open-ended details to the player to fill in but also not being so obscure or self-contradictory as to come across as insane, but there's also something just... charming about it. Like I really don't know how else to describe it. I just know it's my favorite.

Runescape is one of those games I have so much nostalgia for, it literally makes me so happy seeing other people’s joyous memories and nostalgia for it too, and the music always makes me tear up
First online game I ever played. I loved it. Then my sister's fiance got me into WoW back right before vanilla ended. It was like RuneScape but even better. As a 6th grade kid the world was magical. I was hooked.

I honestly have to thank you. This got me excited to play games again
Since becoming an adult with a full time job and other commitments I've been only barely keeping up with new releases while my backlog keeps growing. My motivation has been lacking especially because nobody I know now still plays and I'm losing that spark younger me had for just diving in, but to see genuine excitement especially for the games I remember as a kid really helps.

I wish there was some sort of update to RDR2 story mode. It’s easily the best open world game I have played. There’s still a ton of unsolved mysteries in the game too

I remember preordeing Halo 2 and never feeling more excitement to play any game ever. One of the happiest moments was seeing the steel case it came in and also playing it with friends all night having a blast. Life was so much simpler then.

One MP game I'd like to throw in there is SOCOM II. I had no business playing that as a kid but luckily my uncle let me play the first SOCOM at his house. Needless to say, I was hooked. Imo it is one of the best multiplayer experiences ever. I'm fairly sure thats a series that's gone for good so I'm glad I got to experience it at its best.

MW2 was the pinnacle of cod IMO. The guns, characters, story, maps, soundtrack and multiplayer was amazing. Black ops is another great cod game as well but original modern warfare will hold a special place in my heart as the shooter game that got me hooked.

I literally don't know who you are, but happened to stumble on your channel and this was the first video I saw. I really really loved this. I haven't played half of what you put on this list, but just hearing about your love for these games really made me feel... Nostalgic? Idk man, I guess it made me feel again that games are so special to me.
Awesome list 😊 The ones that we play early on really do resonate so differently.
I genuinely think far more games from 6th/5th gen in particular were just better for their time and are still better at the core
than most stuff from 7th/8th/ and 9th ( so far ). I also feel the NES and SNES have some of the best soundtracks ever
along with 5th and 6th gen , and music took a nosedive as well during 7th/8th/ and 9th gen. Nostalgia plays a role sure but
I truly feel those eras were just more creatively healthy , and nothing truly gets old , design Is stylistic preference.

The Library lasted like an hour of doing the same thing over and over, some Flood have fucking RPGs that one shot you w/ perfect aim... Some parts of that game were dogshit, which brings it down a bit compared to the rest of the series.

Imo Battlefield 1 isn't even the best BF game, and it's soundtrack was forgettable. It's the original 1942 which had such a good soundtrack they still play some variation of the theme with every new game.

Video game 2 was much better than Video game imo. The story and the characters were more fleshed out and the world just felt ALIVE. I’ll admit the microtransactions were BS though.

I was so surprised to see banjo kazooie and tooie as your number 1 game. Excited someone else remembers them as fondly as me even though they are not my number 1. I would definitely say those two games are in my top 5 for sure. I cannot even tell you how many of hundreds of hours I have spent on those two titles. Keep the awesome videos coming act man.
What I loved about this video is how it reminded me of all the amazing experiences I’ve had with games throughout the years. When I play Wave Race 64, it transports me back in time like no other game. I can close my eyes and feel like I’m in 1996 in my living room. It’s the closest thing I have to a Time Machine.

Bayonetta 1 and 2 are excellent. The one game that beats Ninja Gaiden for me when it comes to hack and slash.
This is the first video I’ve watched of yours in a while after dealing with a long phase of depression.
I love this list, and the only things i can think of that id add to my own would be the very original medal of honor. That game was legendary and paved a path to a lot of current fps games. Also star wars empire at war, a game i still play nearly 20 years later and still has a reasonable playerbase. Late to the party but loved the vid!

I love Pokémon but the the Colosseum/XD series is painfully underrated it’s definitely my favorite (besides gen 3 of course).

Strangely, I liked Halo 2
I was embarrassed how few of these games I've done. But it was your description of Bioshock that was most most intriguing and convincing so i want to do that one next.

Ah I’ve never played thousand year door, but OG paper Mario holds such a nostalgic place in my heart. The story in that was already silly and thousand year door looks like they cranked it to 11
Banjo kazooie is probably the very first game that would keep coming back to, and probably what really hooked me into a lifetime of gaming thus far

@@GentlemanJackabee Honestly, Nintendo sucks in terms of backwards compatibility and allowing people to play their older games. Original copies of this game are sold at high prices last time I checked. Not to mention, you would need a Gamecube or a Wii to play it.
If you reaaally want to try it out maybe you should look into Dolphin (Gamecube emulator for PC) and see how that works out.

Probably a controversial opinion... But I think Nintendo is overrated.
I will either use an emulator (even though most of them suck) or just watch a playthrough on here.
I know it's not the same, but, I don't think it's worth it in the long run...
@@GentlemanJackabee In my opinion, Nintendo constantly produces high quality games, but the handling of their services is questionable. I am biased though, since I grew up playing Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc.
About Paper Mario though, I strongly suggest that you try to play it through yourself. I’m lucky enough to own a copy so I haven’t tried emulation myself, but I’ve heard really good things about the Dolphin emulator, even that it allows games to run at a better framerate. I just don’t think the experience would be the same by watching a playthrough.

I NEVER experienced any Nintendo Games growing up.
They just seem like a shady company, with a VERY specific genre, with no difference.

Your #1 pick is so freaking true, you know why?? The popular opinion is that Super Mario 64 is the best game ever especially since it was the first great 3D game, but Banjo Kazooie/Tooie ended up actually one upping it. Very difficult to do.
Mad respect for having The Thousand Year Door so high. I have played that game for more hours than all the other Mario RPGs combined. The best written dialogue in Nintendo's history.
Did anyone here play the BF1 frontlines game mode when it first came out with the French DLC? The match timer was bugged and matches would go on for like an hour and a half until 1 side was pushed back into their spawn. I’ve never had such an immersive and intense experience online before. It was so awesome.

Halo CE is my favorite game of all time I loved every second of it and it made me fall in love with video games. I don't know where I would be today if I didn't play Halo when it first came out. It made me a gamer simple as that.

Not seeing any DOOM hurts me. I thought for sure one of them would be. But, damn fine list. I also prefer Oblivion to Skyrim, but Morrowind is still my fav TES game.
Every time I think about The Elder Scrolls, I think of Morrowind. No other game matches that alien landscape, awesome soundtrack and epic storyline. The only game in the series I’d feel comfortable saying I completed.
I remember when I was 6 years old I'd always go under the blanket because I was scared of a pixelated cyberdemon coming into my bedroom and killing me. I can still hear that sound his robotic leg makes...

@@abmtz8537 True, depends on the decisions you make though. I think, I was so into the "retro-futuristic" style, the combat, story line and choices that ACTUALLY mattered.
I was just shocked because he did a video on most of the fallout games and New Vegas was his favourite.
But as I said, it's not my list, it's his.

@@GentlemanJackabee even though Kotor And dragon age are different he probably felt that he had enough of those kind of RPGs on the list. I prefer Kotor and dragon age over nv by a bit. Mostly because nv is set in a desert and I just fucking hate deserts in any game for some reason, though the story and choice in some of the best we've ever seen in any rpg.

Doom is good but it's still a dumb, brainless shooter with a soulless main-character. I love the games and doom opened the doors for shooters nowadays. But u can't deny it.

Paper Mario TTYD being number 3 got me hyped. More people need to experience that game. It is unironically perfect.

@@TheThirdChild I'd prefere Daggerfall nr2 in the series, no one was prepared for that game when it was released, it was huge and endless and had no limits what you could do, there was no game like it on the market for years to come.

Why is god of war so awesome. He is a Xbox fanboy. But I'm glad he got a PS5 now. He can play ps exclusives. They are much better than Xbox.
@@GeekRaj God of War is a great series and there is some awesome PS exclusives but, Halo 3 is hands down one of the best games ever made and was a absolute console seller. Over the last decade or so I would say that Sony has been on top of there exclusives for sure but, with Microsoft buying so many top notch studios and IP's. I think that Xbox is well on there way to change that.
