prince eliel that’s a common mistake. g5 was the final note of “bridge over troubled waters”. watching both performances you can hear the (small) difference. this one was a g#5, like, just a little bit higher

While I think Mona Lisa is a legendary performance, I think its preferable is she can see So Hyang's facial expressions while singing. She seems to dive in there while reacting.
Dave Clarion Daing agreed, I think it shows how dynamic she is though which she’ll love and a change of pace of what she would typically expect from Ms. SoHyang

Coach Tara, huge respect to you for being so modest and so appreciative of another vocalist, true masters don't hate each other. SoHyang once gave lectures at one of the main Korean Music University, still time to time does lectures on stage presence and fear management as a vocalist.
Actually this is second time watching this video, I have to say this is like ONLY 35% of SoHyang's full performance. The ending thing, SoHyang always does those, gestures (leg or hands) following drums patterns by instinct. A "Drums Girl"...!
I don’t think So Hyang has ever failed at hitting notes this high in a chest mix. You were talking about a C6 as if it’s an impossible note to mix, but So Hyang can soar right past that up to a C#6. And her C#6 is entirely supported and sung with a balanced mix too, not even a remotely heady mix. I think you’ll come to realize that So Hyang’s favorite note is a mixed Bb5 because she hits them all the time and she does so like they’re nothing, and she never messes up because her tessitura is so high and her technique is flawless. You should check out “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Everyone” next.
I think Female Sopranos can Belt in Chest Mix up to E6! Even some High Pitched Male Sopranos too. I know So Hyang can hit them too, maybe she just don't want to give respect to the song and audience because Belted E6 is very thin, sounds worser than E8 whistle
@@roddick_ Considering how technically good even Sohyang’s mixed C#6 is, I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if she could higher, but you’re right that there isn’t much need for mixed notes that high. They’d sound out of place and overboard in pretty much anything. Some people already think her G5-C6 range is too much, and I guess I can understand why, but personally I think her ease and power in that range sounds so satisfying, climactic, and emotional.

I love your point about Sohyang's "Vocal discernment". In fact, there are multiple videos of her lecture to music university students in which the subject matter is being discused. Great musicians think alike!
This is the only performance where she hits a Bb5, in every performance she’s done after this of Lean on me, she raises it to a B5 (which is insane).
She’s mixed, sustained with vibrato a C6, and has mixed a C#6.
I’d recommend Mona Lisa (it’s Rock!) Day day (it’s RAP) or anything

Two of her most impressive vocal performances are “Mona Lisa” and “Everyone”. I love them both lol but if you wanna hear her in her chest mix even higher in her her sing lean on me with Kirk Franklin (C6) and her performance of “where are you” (B5)
In this performance, her highest belted note is Bb5 and even phrased it, but in other live performances, she steps it up to a sustained B5. Her performance with Michael Bolton, she has C6s and sustained F5. With Kirk Franklin, she phrased A5s and sustained C6 (crazy vocal stamina) consecutively

I've never commented before, but I really love your in-depth reactions to So Hyang. They're very informative and helpful when I want to understand a vocal technique. And with Lean on Me, in a lot of her live performances, she goes up to a B5 instead of the Bb5 in the I Am Singer performance. Maybe you could react to one of those eventually.

I wasn't surprised at all. I've always known that she can do anything with her voice.

You really should react to her other song, like " Everyone " ( numerous F5-G5 and one of the most impressive Bb5 from her, this song contain like 4 min of belt). "Hug Me" ( one of her most impressive A5, with an increadible emotion), " Dream" ( easily one of her most challenging song, containing one her most impressiveS Bb5), " Where are you" ( for me her most emotionnal song, with her most beautiful B5 of her carreer), " Upon this rock" ( sang about 10years ago, in the very beginning of her legendary vocal perfection), " Bridge over trouble water" ( numerous of G5), "Fate" ( just for the musicality and the beauty of the song), "Dear Love" ( emotion and beauty)

Hi Tara! You are one of the best Coaches that professionally analysed Sohyang and other singers very well, So I recommend you to analyse Sohyang's Dream.... It's her own original song and one of the hardest songs ever..... Half of the song is in the 5th Octave and the ending with 6th octave thanks! NOTE: Bb5 is the ICONIC NOTE OF SOHYANG!

Absolutely loved this final expression to finish such a fabulous performence too. She often has such last moments I absolutely love. So Hyang is that singer you SHOW to others and say... This is how it should be done. She is not one to mess up technically. Maybe when she was younger, but not these days. I have watched you and other vocal coached react to her, and I have only had one say a negative thing, and it was about the audience crying. He could not understand what was so emotional about the song. I no longer watch him...lol And if you get any skinnier, we won't be able to see you. :)

@@adhi0073 He calls himself a PRO Vocal Coach, and all I will give is his first name. Phil. He just does not understand why people cry when she sings something beautiful and moving. He thinks its all put on, and not in his words, but I can tell he thinks its ridiculous.
I LOVE this woman right here, Tara, and there is one guy in Turkey that gives good info, but hard to follow even with the English sub titles. There is a video of him traveling to Korea to meet with So Hyang for a one on one interview.

Tara that Bb5 was a B5 but the studio edited it to sound better, all her performances this song live are sung at B5! This isn’t her max mix though during a church service she mixed a supported C#6. In an interview she talks about how her headvoice is in the 7th octave but she can’t control so she has an enormousssss range!
