I know I am months late but just saw this, and just wanted to spread the love. Great reaction, I can't sing worth a damn and yet I love watching people who can sing and know the technicalities break down songs that are just pleasurable to the ear of a caveman. Great reaction.
When he gave his comments after her performance he said it was spectacular & that she took on the role of virtuoso. Needless to say she won that edition of the show. She has sung with him since then when he's been on tour in Asia

Lean On Me was special to Sohyang. She mentioned she had to get it "perfect" as she was going to perform to the legendary Michael Bolton. Indeed a great honour to her.
Probably hands down the best analysis and break down I've seen of not only Sohyang's vocals but also her amazing compositional skills. I wish I had the link but there's actual behind the scenes footage of Sohyang directing both the orchestra and the backup singers in preparation for her performance. You would almost think she's a conductor given her level of precision and attention to detail, truly like watching a master at work.
She is amazing analyzing all those details, some of which I never noticed before and I have heard like 100 times of not more already haha, greetings from Costa Rica!

I've always commented that she does her own arrangements but your comments explained the complexity and the reasoning for her arrangement. You are probably the best vocal coach reactor because you don't only analyze SoHyang's awesome vocal prowess but you also show your talent with your music analysis! The other vocal coach reactions has it's high points too. I like when one of them said she enjoys to see how SoHyang acknowledges all the musicians on stage with her(orchestra, background singers(Lean on me), violin soloist(Arirang Alone), etc & of course, the audience). The coach also said that this shows her how unselfish she is... it's not all me.. Thanks for this great reaction..waiting for more with SoHyang & you & your pug!

I did the same thing when reviewing many Sohyang's performance for the first time, keep rewinding to catch what kind of sorcery she did with her vocals at any given point. 🤣 Though often times she's so captivating with her emotive delivery, midway watching the performance, I unconsciously stop focusing on techniques, let go and and let myself be carried away. Bewitched. 😅

I really like your reaction to Sohyang’s singing: informative but not dry - it is really fun hearing the small details that you provide that my unprofessional ear doesn’t hear. Keep up the good work. There are more Sohyang’s songs out there. React to them and don’t be discouraged by the stupid KBC’s attitude of being a dog in a manger to demand that TH-cam take down your submission.

Most people feel that "Everyone" is her best performance- a 7 minute masterpiece to bring hope, inspiration and comfort to others. Try to find one with English subtitles- it will make the song more poignant and emotional.

Everyone - it's unlike any of her performances you've reacted - darker, richer, lower, higher, more dramatic. The vimeo version Henry Parka linked for you. Your viewers suggested other great songs but they don't show the other sides to her vocals as well as Everyone. BTW great reaction - you picked up on so many features of her arrangement and musical choices.
She is already a Legend. She had some health problems. Hopefully she is totally healed. We need this kind of singers.

Thank you so much for speaking to us as musical adults :) as a Soul/Reggae bass player, what Sohyang is doing by playing with the vocal *rhythm* is immediately recognizable as something you'd do on bass to make something "roll" in a Soul manner. Gospel fascinates me because I only know secular Black music well, but not the liturgical root style. Love this.
This girl and Dimash are my true inspirations because both regarding his great singing are beautiful human beings,both are so humble and passionate on what they do.I really don’t care when they say who is better because technique isn’t the most important thing on a vocalist.I would love to see both singing on the same stage

Nina, i have to say, ive always rated your analysis highly but you seem to have grown in knowledge too in comparison to some reactions of yours i watched a year ago. Maybe you're just more confident on camera now? Either way, i love it.
And as far as my favourite sohyang performances goes, its "Everyone". There is a rendition with english subtitles too. That is a 7 minute performance of vocal mastery and to this day, i still dont understand how she does it lol.

I think it's the confidence, as well as the fact that Nina probably realized that her audience enjoys her insight. A lot of reactors are kind of reluctant to give these comments because it kinda interrupts the performance, but this is what you should get from a music expert i.e. vocal coach, musician, etc (same with Tara and Sam Johnson. Only vocal reactors I enjoy)

Did you know, he was also stunned by this performance (btw, she won the whole thing!) and invited her after that to go on world tour with him? She denied but went on a few concerts in Korea I think. They did so good together ,she mixes a C#6 there :D

Sohyang is just.... epic and phenomenal...Next going to “O holy night” from I am Singer 2 (2012). There are 2 versions of O holy night.. Mariah Carey and Sohyang... after watching this let us know which one is your favorite.
Neither. They are both way too overdone and destroy the song and completely lose the meaning of the song. Sandi Patty; simple, clear.
