  • Montage of clips from a recent trip to Spain. It was very hot.
    Tech Specs:
    Everything shot on the S5IIX with the LUMIX 35MM and 50MM f1.8 lenses. All the exterior shots were shot in 5.9k ProRes at 1.9 Gbps to a Samsung T5 drive. As always I used a Tiffen 1/8 BPM and Freewell VND. The interiors were shot in BRAW using the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G. Really impressed with the ProPres quality, at least in the high data rates, though the file sizes are pretty nuts.

    This vid illustrates the dynamic range of the Lumix. Bright sun and shadows in the same szene. Looks good. Although you would have the same results with Long GOP in 4:2:2 10 bit, you do not need ProRes. You do not win a single stop of dynamic range or anything else. Only tons of data. Try it. But good to know that the T5 can handle 1,9 Gbps. Thank you for sharing. 👌

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh man, if only we got more dynamic range that would really be quite a feature. Reason I tend to shoot in higher codecs is that when we’re out and about there’s usually a fair amount of motion in the frame. That and, even though it is a crushing amount of data, I find that extra information can help in the grade. Is it overkill? Definitely.

      Thanks! Unfortunately you can’t record internally and to the VA at the same time, at least not in BRAW. I think you can record DNXR proxies to the VA while recording internally, but if you have “RAW OVER HDMI” enabled it disables internal recording.

      Thanks Loren! I love the S5 and have become spoiled by the IBIS and some of the other features. That said there is just something special about the image of the P4K. I think largely it’s the 12-bit color that makes it seem almost more filmic.

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should think so. I’d maybe shoot a 4K codec to get the increased color sampling over the resolution but it all depends on the project needs and look. It’s a highly capable and agile setup so what you save vs even renting a high end rig could go to locations, production design, etc and that all makes a huge difference in the film quality.
