      Wow, that is quite possibly the highest praise I could imagine! Very happy to hear it inspired you. I find that as I’ve gotten older I want to spend more and more time appreciating life and all there is to see and do. Take advantage of it if and while you can! Have a great trip, look forward to seeing what you film!

    With the Video Assist the colorimetry is from the lumix or from blackmagic?. I have the bmpcc 4k (love the color and cine vive) and the new s5ii (nice digital color and vice). I was thinking to buy video assist and pay the actualitzation to have the vive ok my bm4k in the lumix, I'm wrong?

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the camera passes the RAW data to the Video Assist, which interprets and records it in BRAW, so it’s similar to the P4K, but not completely the same. The reason is the different sensor and the fact that the S5 sensor uses V-log instead of Blackmagic Color Space, so there will be some differences. Basically if you had the 6K output from the S5 + VA compared to a P6K it would look similar but not the same. It’s a great combo, though, regardless.

      These were all shot in V-Log at 24p, 640 iso. For the internal stuff it was all at the 10-bit 4:2:2 codec, and then when using the Video Assist BRAW 8:1, 5.9k 24p. For film emulation I use the FilmUnlimited powergrades by Juan Melara.

    Looks amazing! Is braw really worth it?

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For me it's more about 12-bit color than anything. I love BRAW as I started with Blackmagic cameras and use Davinci Resolve (on PC). I've never shot PRORES/RAW. The 12-bit color is most important to me, but then working with the BRAW files in Resolve is so much easier than the 10-bit MOV files, even though the latter are so much smaller. But yeah, the BM video assist is NOT cheap. I thankfully found a good deal on ebay for the 5" one.

      @@brandonrude I have the ninja v, wondering if ProResRaw would as good combined with the FilmUnlimited powergrades by Juan Melara.

      @@aram.v I would think so. I saw a comparison of the two on DP Review i think and they found that ProRes Raw was probably a slightly better codec overall but the differences were minor, mostly in the amount of noise. If anything I would think it might be a little better as BRAW is always slightly more compressed.
