The atheist guy is asking genuine questions in a reasonable manner, this is how we should discuss these things. Yelling obscenities and shouting the odds is NOT how it should proceed.
Well unfortunately its like that about 90% of the time. Alot of Atheists have anger issues and has no Respect for others Beliefs. What they dont realise is that they are trying force their beliefs down on people but complain when a Christian is Talking about God to people who really do need him. The Hypocrisy in this world is Real.
@@lionbolt2136 You can't stereotype a belief like that. "A lot of Atheists have anger issues and no respect for others' beliefs." I am an Atheist and a lot of my friends are, we don't have anger issues and we aren't hostile, we are very chill people in fact. Just because we don't believe in something that seems absurd on the surface doesn't make us 'hostile'. If you want us to believe in God give us some real convincing evidence. You say Atheists try to force their beliefs down on people yet Christianity itself does that even more. I don't care what your beliefs are, believe in whatever you want, but when you say I will burn and know nothing but pain and agony for eternity if I don't follow *your* beliefs, that is the definition of forcing your beliefs down on me.
Nightmarex the reason people go to hell is sin, and we sin all the time and break the Ten Commandments. God’s standard is higher than our standard. God hates sin. That’s why He sent His son Jesus down to earth to die for our sins so we wouldn’t have to go to hell to pay for our sins, Jesus already payed for our sin. We can freely receive it or reject it. We can repent and turn from our sin and turn to Jesus or reject the gift of eternal life He has given us, He won’t force us. People sometimes say they want nothing to do with the God of the Bible, and Hell is a place where God is absent, but that also includes His blessings are not in hell either.
@@nightmarex4740 that is the truth of the gospel. It isn't forcing you, it's telling the reality of what we all are facing without Jesus. The reason we preach it to you is: Romans 10:13-17 [13]for "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." [14]How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? [15]How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!" [16]However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" [17]So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. And Matthew 28:18-20 [18]And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, [20]teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Also it isn't just us saying if you don't believe what we believe you will go to hell, it's God and His word. We are just passing that information on to you. Revelation 20:11-15 [11]Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. [12]And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. [13]And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. [14]Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. [15]And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. You ask for evidence, it's all around you: Romans 1:16-23 [16]For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. [17]For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith." Unbelief and Its Consequences [18]For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, [19]because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. [20]For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. [21]For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22]Professing to be wise, they became fools, [23]and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. We can't force you and we can't convince you. It's the Holy Spirits job to give you life and open your eyes, it's our job to tell you.
Mtec ok but what if we were born and raised Christian knew all of this read the Bible cover to cover and felt “his blessings”, but then realized how the Bible is just words on paper written by man and isn’t solid evidence of god, that the feelings of being blessed can be explained as a placebo effect and that there are numerous contradictions and paradoxes in scripture, but then realize how science is able to explain the world just fine without he use of a god in the equation, and what science doesn’t know it’s always learning more about, whereas religion always insists on the same thing even when outdated and proven wrong. how do you think you’d feel being told again everything you already learned was false? Having people insist they’re telling you because they care and you know they mean it because you used to. And how would you feel knowing that they really believe it but are wasting their time believing a lie that you believed for so long? It’s only a slight bit insulting but mostly it’s painful because we remember how that felt but now we know better. We don’t want to take it away from you because we remember how painful it is to loose that, but we also don’t want to lie to you when we know better. Idk if I’m saying all this right because I want to be both straightforward and understanding but I’m worried it will just come off condescending when it’s not meant as such. Anyways the best way I can equate the issue former Christian atheists feel when having these conversations I would say it’s 1 of 2 things. 1. It feels like a child coming to you asking why Bobby said Santa wasn’t real and having to decide if you should play along or be honest Or 2. It feels like someone trying to convince you that Santa is real when you’ve already believed and now know better. One makes us sad and the other feels insulting. But I will always choose truth over ignorance any day.
I mean God doesn’t give everyone a choice there is literally millions of people who die everday and never heard about god. Seems like pure evil to me. Plus Isaiah 45:7
@@CollagenExpert yes, He did create the serpent, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and He gave them a choice. With the absence of evil, what choice would we have? God doesn't want unwilling followers, He has done everything possible to encourage us to follow him, but he will not force us to follow him.
@@CollagenExpert Frank’s response is wrong. You are not being punished for not worshipping Christ. You are being punished for your sins. “for the wages of the sin [is] death, and the gift of God [is] life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 - God sent His son to take on the sins of the world, so that if you trust in Him and repent you won’t be punished for your sins. You are not punished for not believing in Christ. Your sins are what condemn you. If you trust in Christ, Christ bears the burden for your sins, if you don’t trust Him you bear the burden for your sins. It is a plea deal, take it or leave it. Bear your sins, or ask Him to bear your sins for you. Accept His free gift or live without it. Now to avoid dishonesty I will admit that not worshiping Christ is a sin, because the Bible says “`Thou hast no other Gods before Me. `Thou dost not make to thyself a graven image, or any likeness which [is] in the heavens above, or which [is] in the earth beneath, or which [is] in the waters under the earth.” Exodus 20:3-4 - If you don’t worship Christ, you either worship yourself by believing you are the master of your own destiny not God, or idolizing any one or thing that isn’t God. Those 2 sins do condemn you, but even if God took those out, you will still be judged for your other sins and you would still go to Hell, so accept the plea deal. Repent and trust in Christ.
That Atheist is a good sport. I can't help the urge to acknowledge how polite and genuine he seemed. He didn't totally dismiss the speakers answers and seemed to be able to follow the logic even though he disagreed. This is how a debate between believers and atheists should go. The speaker was also very polite and understanding. Respect for both.
@Brian I don't think we should be arguing on what exactly hell is as Christians. Instead, we should focus on our time here on earth. I think we can all agree hell is someplace we don't want to go but deserve to go to. Thankfully, we have the grace of redemption. Once we have that, we should offer that gift to everyone. Basically, my point is that hell is bad and all of us don't want to end up there. Regardless of what hell is like (burning fire or simply cold, desolate, separating from God), its bad.
@Brian I understand. That is why we have Christian historians, apologists (like me, or I hope to be), theologians, so on. My point is that no matter what hell is really like, it's our job to spread the Gospel, which is free, and attempt to make as many disciples of Christ as we can. I think you know what I mean by that. Now, in the end, it's really up to the person's free will to make that choice, but at the very least we can know we gave them the opportunity.
Yeah, Kevin, it's pleasantly surprising when atheists and leftist actually attempt evidence based argument with real interest in challenging their world view and don't just resort to ridicule and verbal (or physical) violence.
@@danielchung4973 I think it's evident that it's important to know about hell. It's in the Bible and all scripture is useful. But I notice seekers object to the punishment as unjust and unloving and I notice people also have a genuine interest. All seekers (and believers) need to know more about supernatural because those concepts are so oppressed in our national cultures these days.
You must not have met many atheists then lol we mostly all do genuinely want answers. We follow what we find to be the most logically consistent worldview and we ask questions to figure out which worldview that should be
@@tylerwinter512 have you actually read my comment? Or did you just skim it and latch onto the information that you wanted? Because there’s a few key words in my comment that make the point you seem to be trying to make, entirely irrelevant.
I would guess it's a matter of humility. Winning the debate is not the goal. Finding truth is the goal. But no one wants to just find truth and potentially lose a debate while on camera
Mason Stahl well in a sense that does happen, in some circumstances, sadly however not enough in the public sphere. A good example of those who are happy to debate is Tim Pool and Glen Beck here on you tube. And I am sure amongst everyday folks that goes on, on a daily basis. All that said however, I am only aware of one political party, The Democrats where their Congress men and women, although not a lot, not that it takes a lot. Go on to national television and urge their followers to, “push back, get in their faces, in restaurants, in Gas stations, in stores, in the street! Now that is pushing for anarchy. That is a party that refuses the will of the people because it never went their way. In addition, because Mrs Clinton never won, she exclaimed on national television, to be uncivil, “we can never be civil with Republicans, until we have ground them down too The Opposition, in other words, currently, The Democratic Party can only act civilised if they win!!!!. Mason Stahl, when elected leaders are pushing and persuading their followers not to accept the will of the people, and evidentially; they have taken them at their word. You have seen the news, how many Republicans have you learned about getting either doxxed or harassed when out with their families in restaurants for example?? The solution for a calming down of emotions, and entering civilised discourse, will only be found when leaders of the Democratic Party, start by apologising for their public actions, who knows it may even help them in the ballot box !!!
Mason Stahl the problem however is that even though God exist, the truth about him isn’t being taught in these university level debates. Sadly many people have this false idea that God tortures people in a “fiery place of torment called hell” but that’s exactly what the Bible doesn’t teach. That doctrine isn’t only unscriptural but is against the very nature of God which Is love. Sin is what brings death. Death is just a state of nonexistence. Any sin big or small brings forth death to the sinner and not God. Yes God will in due time bring an end to this corrupt world but he’s giving all of us fair warning. It will be a destructing of the incorrigibly wicked. After that they won’t exist in any way or form. Those who survive will not be in Gods presence either. The Bible says that God made this earth for humans to live in since the beginning. Earth was meant to be a paradise for perfect human beings. His purpose has not changed and this offer is for anyone who does not wish to perish either by their own merits or God himself. All he wants is for People to leave their evil ways because sin is what gives birth to death.
Charlie C. For example the fact that the holocaust happened while uncomfortable to acknowledge is evidence that morality is subjective because if there were an objective morality we would be able to prove it and there wouldn’t be so much controversy over different views. Or the fact that frank claims that to have objective morality you need a god but says nothing to prove which god would have the true right morality
Nothsa Rekcap There isn’t “controversy on different views.” Murder is a no no. And I think everybody knows Frank means the Christian God. He doesn’t have to explain it in this 9min video, since he would have explained it in the opening remarks. That’s the way all debates work, you start the debate by stating your stance. As for your second question, Christians believe in the Jew/Christian God. We believe that God is the one that sets morale. And for the rest of that argument just watch this video. You don’t have to worship or believe in the standards set by that God, if you don’t want too. If you don’t want too you can be in complete separation from that God.
David Reyes I wasn’t referring to obvious things everyone agrees on, like murder, I was referring to the morality of the grey areas. Are you saying there’s no grey at all??? Because that would be pretty laughable so I’m going to assume that’s not what you’re saying. I’m talking about things like if there’s 5 people tied up that are about to get hit by a train and there’s no time to stop the train, you have the ability to switch the tracks but you’d instead hit one person tied up what’s right or wrong then? Is it better not to act and let 5 people die because of your inaction? But you yourself have not killed you just stood idly by and watched as 5 people died a preventable death that you could have stopped. Or Is it better to actually get the blood of one single person on your hands to save the other five? It’s clear he means the Christian god but once again That’s not my point. My point is regardless of which god he claims provides morality how do the rest of us know which god is the actual source of morality if any? If you’re going to claim a god designs morality the next step is to prove that your god specifically is more moral than the rest without that it’s just your religion’s claim against every other religion’s claims. And what about the standards set about beating disobedient children to death with stones? Earlier you said something along the lines of murder is wrong period then state that the Jewish/Christian god is the one that establishes morality and killing children? Well that’s something condoned in the Bible rather than condemned sooo...
Faith is the substitute of evidence when establishing a belief. It is fed by unsubstantiated declarations and swallowed by groupthink. I encourage you to accept what you are told ONLY in the presence of good evidence. A counter example is "Well, God can do anything. Who are you to suggest the snake and donkey didn't talk, Jesus didn't walk on water, or that the undead roamed Jerusalem after the Crucifiction?" Swallow it all and you are basically saying: "I'm just back into my Cult."
This was one of the most patient and intelligent debates on theology I’ve seen in years. I wish with all my heart that we could do this all throughout society. Just because we have difference of opinion does not mean we need to hate each other. What a beautiful thing. My GOSH does this give me hope for humanity
David Lim keep in mind most atheists have college degrees, phd, and masters degrees.. the reason we question god is simple “ evidence “ I love to talk philosophy, religion, politics, oh yes and I’m one of those pesky polite atheists 🤓
I don't know why people are so surprised when an atheist is a nice person. We're all just people. Some of us are polite and some of us aren't. I don't think it matters what your religion is. Ted Bundy was polite lol
joshua james We have found 7 different kinds of the homo species , one recently that the big toe was located on the foot between human and ape, that is looked upon as a transitional species.. and still discovering new fossils on a daily basis that point to evolution.. I’m not an archeologist but it just appears to me that there is evidence.
add Sir David Pawson to the list. His thoughts on "salt and light" really made me think twice about why believers are encouraged to be like that specifically.
Haha same and I totally agree, it was interesting how I could totally see both sides, but not gonna lie- the end got me bc it got me in the feels too haha
But I disagree with the point that God does not force us. Jesus said: who is good, but God. John Calvin was more Biblical on the topic of grace, sola deo Gracia. For the rest I like Turek in his apolegetic work! Greets from Holland!
Ok but on morality if there are many religions how do we know which god has the right moral code? Which branch of that religion practices the right morals? Is everything in that religion’s holy scriptures really moral? How do we know that said scriptures of any religion were even written because a god wanted to speak to humanity? Lots of questions left for that topic alone. He talks fast and fallacious and not enough people really listen enough to catch it.
I have listened to this talk probably 20 times over the years. And here I am again. My prayer is that this young man, Carter has found the answers he was sincerely looking for and is now a Believer.
@@ngc-fo5te I pray for God to have mercy on you and encounter you. He’s real whether you have faith or not. He loves you. He is giving you time and space to repent; Lord please soften this heart for your glory. May God bless you, go in peace my friend 😊💛
@Jack Of All Trades God knows everything, yes. He allows free will because He loves us enough to leave us alone so we don't feel pressured into loving Him. Satan and his demons have access to Earth because they were banished from heaven. This is their kingdom for now. If God wanted to right now, He could blink Satan and every demon out of existence with a snap. But He doesn't do that because in life we are tested to see if we will follow Satan or God. Follow God, eternal life, follow Satan, eternal death/punishment. But God will dispatch every satanic creature so there will be no more sin.
@Jack Of All Trades Amazing, everything of which you just spoke was wrong. God has omniscience, He knows all. God chooses not to intermingle in our everyday affairs because of free will. You claim the Adam and Eve story is a myth. This is a lie. Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and the first sinners. Now I'm sorry you fell out But when you read the Bible expecting contradictions and fallacies, you'll make them up as you go, completely missing the point of stories. I'm not saying everything in the Bible actually happened, there are parables to learn lessons from. Adam and Eve are not parables, they are a story of what happened when Man first sinned.
That is the first time I have ever heard the love of God explained like that. Using the let's just be friends analogy, that's something all guys can relate to. He'll send cards, letters, and flowers, but if you don't want a relationship, He will respect your wishes. That is really a scary thought.
@@Kill2Blit People dont necessarily go to Hell for not believing they primarily/mainly go because they sin. If you have sinned (which everyone has) and die without Jesus on Judgement day God will judge you and you will be found guilty and sentenced to his prison (Hell) without parole. @@danieltulloch5556 assuming hell exists, and it entails eternal torture, and also that god is all powerful (all of which has to be demonstrated but we'll ignore that for now), how could he possibly be a loving god? say someone lives a great and generous life, but they don't believe in god (a sin). do they deserve to be tortured for all eternity because of only that? no loving god would damn someone forever for a minor sin in a finite life. normal everyday people who get jealous sometimes, or tell a white lie like saying they're fine when they're not, don't deserve eternal damnation either. it's like if your kid broke a vase and lied about doing so and you told him unless he says sorry (repents) you'll lock him in prison and torture him until he dies, and then even after he dies he'll still be there and cannot escape for all time. even if he doesn't say sorry, that's a *ridiculous* punishment! and that example is far more generous because the kid can see you even exist. whether he exists or not, the god of the Bible is a monster.
@@Kill2Blit Yes none of us can see him but we have reasonable proof of the new testament being accurate and true and through other things we can logically come to the conclusion a God exists. Yes to us sin seems minor but to a Perfect, Infinitely Holy and Just God it is very serious. So yes God loves Us even if we Sin against him and hate him he still loves you but he is also Just and Holy. Reasons why Hell is eternal: 1) We sin against an infinite being so even if the sins are finite it is against a infinite being. 2) Who said people stop sinning in Hell. @@danieltulloch5556 I watched some of the playlist, took issue with most of the points. I won't get into it here to avoid a pages long comment, im more interested in what you think of these responses to the hell is eternal stuff: 1. I dont see how this is relevant. honestly an infinite being should care *even less* about finite events as they have zero impact on anything on an infinite timeframe. even if he does care, the punishment still doesnt fit the crime. 2. there’s no way to investigate this so its a useless point imo. also, the eternal damnation was decided at judgement and is punishment for the sins during life, so any further sin or lack of it has no effect and is irrelevant. 3. whats wrong with an ordinary world that isnt particularly good or bad, just in the middle? why does it have to be infinite happiness or literal torture forever? its a ridiculous idea. any way you slice it, god is the greatest evil. any all-powerful all-knowing being would be capable of designing a flawless system, and if he wanted everyone to be saved he would have designed a system where everyone was. a being that decides literally every aspect of reality is responsible for everything that goes on in it.

She became a member of my church, she was a beautiful singer, sang at everyone’s wedding including her own! Has two lovely daughters, though told she could never have kids, she was inspirational in every way, the most kind loving person. God took her home and the world is a sadder place without her.

One of the things I love about Frank Turek, is he doesn't just present an intellectual argument for the existence of God, but he presents a precondition for the gospel. I'm certain he also presents the actual gospel, maybe not in this clip, but he' has the setup here perfect for someone to contemplate the error of atheism, and to think, well, maybe God really is real. That takes a lot of preparing, and concentration. He doesn't talk down to the non-believers, and he acknowledges that they have very good questions, then takes their unbelief, and turns it upside down. Excellent.
I notice that too... if the question is about existence of God and the universe, he present the evidence or study for that, but not getting into the Gospel... and if the question is about Jesus or the Gospel or other religion, he present the evidence for the Gospel and Jesus... although both and related, he doesn't diverge the argument so much that it's confusing to the one asking.... I really like this clip, because the question is clear and the questioner is polite, Frank said so as well...
Odd,...because as an atheist, nothing he said here had any actual value. If you're already biased to Turek's sort of beliefs, you probably _would_ consider them "well done".
@@tornay131why there would be different doctrines for the same reality? And have you ever talked with people who don't share you beliefs without belittling them?
That's one answer I give to people that say "who created God? " I explain to them that only things that exist in time have a beginning. God existed before creation "outside" of time, so he doesn't need a beginning , because only things that exist inside of time have a beginning..,.

lil chris tuten Even when I was saved from addiction I doubted. Like any good skeptic, I could only prove the truth if what Jesus said was true. If you can use His name to heal people, then that’s something you can put to the test, correct? If He were really of maximally moral character, then He wouldn’t lie. So I put His words to the test. I prayed over my sister using His name, who couldn’t keep any meal down during pregnancy. From then on she hadn’t vomited once. Just a coincidence, right? Okay, maybe if I pray over my coworker with torn knee muscles, that would be crazy. So I do, and she feels no pain and can walk. Whatever, probably just adrenaline or something naturalistic. It’s not like she believes or anything. My dad’s snapped tendons from breaking both his ankles would truly be a miracle. Alright, he can walk without pain now and it was healed in two weeks. Still, gotta be a coincidence. The ultimate test came when I prayed over my wife. If Jesus could stop her from crying in the closet talking about suicide, and rid her of her bipolar disorder and chronic depression; only then would I believe. She stopped taking her pills after I prayed for her (I told her not to) and usually she begins having withdrawal symptoms after two days. She didn’t throw up once and she was a different person from that point on. It’s been about 8 months since then and my wife hasn’t cried, hasn’t had any suicidal thoughts, and is free of pills and feeling natural emotion for the first time in her life. Now, I don’t really expect you to believe me. I probably wouldn’t. All I can say is, you’ll never find the truth if you don’t search for it and put it to the test.
@@TheAeoxEternal I had the flu one time and after I scratched my ass the flu left my body!... Which proves that scratching your ass is just as good as praying.

I'm agnostic....and just letting you know that videos like this do not do what you believe they will do. @@zeussbhitc7978 Frank’s response is wrong.
I think that he was already seeking our lord Jesus. That’s why he was asking the questions. Maybe he didn’t know he was seeking Jesus but all his questions seemed to be pointing in one direction and that was towards the discovery of the truth! His questions were always open to being answered rather than closed veiled attacks. I sincerely hope he finds salvation as he seems like a truly decent and intelligent young person.
Every time I have doubts and go into my intellectual, logic seeking mind, this man always leads me right back to God with logic. It takes a special person to enter the intellectual world of debate and lead us to God through logic and reason. I am one who often sees my own questions as doubts instead questions that I must ask God to answer for me. It's clear, Mr. Turek, that you have done the latter and God has given you answers to many of our common questions that you share with us and help us to continue on the right path. TGBTG. Thank you sir!
That’s his job to lead you back. That’s the job of all apologists. You see, if God was real-you wouldn’t have doubts, and there would be no apologists. Does science and history have apologists? No. They have evidence-no one can say that for God. People like Turek have to make you think there is evidence without showing it, (because there is none), and bombard you with theories and fifty dollar words so you won’t question anything-because questioning things leads to understanding what is really happening. They don’t want that. Just be a good little soldier and don’t question the Bible or God; ignore the contradictions, anachronisms, errors and such. Ignore the fact that there are no indications of God. Just go around thinking that something didn’t come from nothing-although that’s what the Bible teaches. Ignore real science and history too, otherwise-you just might become an atheist.
Smart kid.. I have a feeling that he will find his way to YESHUA one day.. it's ok to question what we don't understand and that's why there are people who God has blessed with a better understanding in which we can learn.
@BMore The fact that we exist and the irreducible complexity seen in all of nature. But dont place that burden on me. It is in fact your own. Ive come to my conclusion, i wont come to yours for you. Theres plenty of evidence surrounding biblical events and extrabiblical sources confirming the existence of and circumstances around the life and ministry and death of the Christ. It comes down to faith and rational thinking, that no one would die for something they knew was a lie. And if there was no resurrection as foretold, His movement would have died when He did. But we see the opposite instead, the explosion of the early church and many letters telling of Gods sacrifice. Much love my friend. Good luck and God bless you.
@BMore - I think you would enjoy a book titled Skepitics Answered by D. James Kennedy. No one can 'prove' Gods existence anymore than a person can 'prove' that they love you. I actually applaud your unwillingness to take a persons 'word for it'. @@christopherhaupt4358 I'll just take some of the S. U .R.G.E argument, for now; ignoring the preceding suppositions made by Turek concerning ontology. It seems that you are "wowed" and others here are wishing for the education to be able to argue with atheists precisely because your science education is lacking. It need only be shown that Turek's premises are factually incorrect to determine that his conclusions are wrong, it should be noted, however, that his acronym is actually out of order and there is a reason that he does this. The beginning of the universe argument must start with the beginning of the universe, which he actually places second and describes the singularity as both infinite density and also nothing, if there is enough information about something to describe it's properties and function then it cannot be the nothing that he is claiming. Turek acknowledges the expanding universe, then claims that the second law of thermodynamics is in effect but dishonestly represents the law that only applies in a closed system to the expanding universe; an expanding system is not a closed system. There is no need to address the rest of his argument regarding this because having his foundational premise being shown to be false, the scientific method no longer applies and there is no way to reach anything other than an unsupported supposition, further, Turek's claim that there was no time before God would necessarily mean that his Deity couldn't exist once time was "created" because there would be no time for a God to exist in. I won't write an essay but I have only scratched the surface of what is demonstrably wrong with his pseudo science.

First I was a Christian, then I denied God and became an Atheist, then Apologetic Christianity brought me back. Intelligence and logic is the best rationalization to religion.
simon burns Well the whole entire basis of Christian apologetics is making sense of the argument that other Christians make that aren't rational to secular society. If you want I will share one so long as we don't get into a 20 comment long debate cause I really don't like wasting so much time on that kind of stuff.
simon burns So this was when I was writing in my book about the question "If God is omniscient and omnipotent, why would he let people suffer and let evil exist." "Many people don't understand that what God had created and intended for us to live under was perfect. Heaven on Earth. But it was us humans who deviated from the original path and began sin. And God very well knew this. Once we took the free will to go against God, sin was created as Good could not have existed without Evil during humanity's baby steps. And so the plan for us now is to find reconciliation with God. Nature is cruel to some. But that just depends on what you define as cruel. Of course animals get sick. Of course we die and to some that is cruel but to some it is the reason why we are alive. The day my friend took his life I cried for so long and cursed God that day. But I now understand that the point of living is understand the joys of being content. That doesn't mean I shouldn't mourn the loss by any means, but it means that at least I got to have a great friend and I should be thankful that I am alive and well and that so too is my family. God did not promise us a world without hurt. If I were to lose my arm tomorrow, I would weep for that fact that no longer would I be able to play piano or guitar the same and my life may seem purposeless, but it is important to understand that pain forces us to grow up and can form us into even wiser beings. And even if my life were to end tomorrow I would rejoice for living the enlightened life I have lived, take comfort in the fact that I would now become the carbon for new life forms to nourish off of, and finally understand this mystery of death. Life goes on and it is up to us to find consolation through our religion."

Jesus and all his disciples followed the Jewish religion, believing in the Jewish God Yahweh. For goodness sake, the Hebrew Bible is part of your Bible now! Secondly, as Christianity developed over the first few hundred years, ideas from Greek and Roman religions were adapted by the Gentile converts to Christianity, concepts of the soul and of heaven and hell and the afterlife. Thirdly, going back to the Old Testament, the stories in Genesis were based on legends and myths from the surrounding cultures in Mesopotamia, Babylon, Egypt, Syria etc. The Garden of Eden, the flood and Noah's ark to name but two, these stories were adapted by the Jews after they were exposed to the religions around them. Yahweh began as a small tribal mountain god, and part of the pantheon of gods headed by the chief god El, Yahweh even had a wife called Asherah.

actually Ive seen someone try to explain the dumb "uncaused causer" argument to a child, and the child was like "but why would everything need a cause but one thing?" the adult tried to play it off but the kid pressed the issue. "why does only one thing break the rules? what proves only one thing is capable of breaking the rules?" indeed, what has religion ever done in successfully proving only one thing could break a rule that arguably doesnt exist.
Do not confuse religion with the existence of God. You are free to reject God but do not pretend to do so by use of fallacy as you have attempted with the kiddy conversation. Do you agree there are many ways to be wrong but only one way to be right? Why should there be only one correct answer to say, a math problem or every other thing? Isn't that your argument?
The reason we preach it to you is:
Romans 10:13-17
[13]for "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
[14]How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
[15]How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!"
[16]However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"
[17]So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
And
Matthew 28:18-20
[18]And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
[19]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
[20]teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Also it isn't just us saying if you don't believe what we believe you will go to hell, it's God and His word. We are just passing that information on to you.
Revelation 20:11-15
[11]Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
You ask for evidence, it's all around you:
Romans 1:16-23
[16]For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
[17]For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith." Unbelief and Its Consequences
[18]For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
[19]because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
[22]Professing to be wise, they became fools,
[23]and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
1. It feels like a child coming to you asking why Bobby said Santa wasn’t real and having to decide if you should play along or be honest
Or
2. It feels like someone trying to convince you that Santa is real when you’ve already believed and now know better.
One makes us sad and the other feels insulting. But I will always choose truth over ignorance any day.
Coming from a believer, Carter is a really knowledgeable, curious and respectful dude. They’re arguing to find the truth, not to win. I love that!

“for the wages of the sin [is] death, and the gift of God [is] life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 -
God sent His son to take on the sins of the world, so that if you trust in Him and repent you won’t be punished for your sins.
`Thou dost not make to thyself a graven image, or any likeness which [is] in the heavens above, or which [is] in the earth beneath, or which [is] in the waters under the earth.”
Exodus 20:3-4 -
If you don’t worship Christ, you either worship yourself by believing you are the master of your own destiny not God, or idolizing any one or thing that isn’t God.

@Daniel that's not what we're supposed to be doing
That kid went from 0 to Christian.
Jokes aside, what a delightfully mature conversation.
There were some mistakes in Franks answeres so I doubt that , he probably just didnt have enough time to give more questions
SR Nova Elaborate
Or
Is it better to actually get the blood of one single person on your hands to save the other five?

That, was actually really deep. I had never thought of free will like Turek described it as. This was really enlightening to me, who's a believer.

Even when I was saved from addiction I doubted.

@@zeussbhitc7978 Frank’s response is wrong. You are not being punished for not worshipping Christ. You are being punished for your sins. “for the wages of the sin [is] death, and the gift of God [is] life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 -
God sent His son to take on the sins of the world, so that if you trust in Him and repent you won’t be punished for your sins.
Those 2 sins do condemn you, but even if God took those out, you will still be judged for your other sins and you would still go to Hell, so accept the plea deal. Repent and trust in Christ.

It comes down to faith and rational thinking, that no one would die for something they knew was a lie. And if there was no resurrection as foretold, His movement would have died when He did. I wish I could "Like" this clip more than once. Beautifully said. I had a dream almost 20 years ago. The power of Gods LOVE is unlike anything I've ever felt before, or since. It's almost like it took over every molecule, became the air, filled my body and the space my body was in. I could spend my entire life trying to put enough emphasis on that LOVE, and not ever come close to even a fraction of it. To think I could spend eternity enveloped in that kind of perfect warmth, but not because of my own choice-- for me, that's hell.
Wow. Points my heart already knew but I never heard it articulated that way. So logical. Great job.
I mean what can anyone say after such a wonderful explanation. Smh. I'm speechless. Wow!
took the words right out of my mouth brother
Christopher Haupt
What are you claiming the wonderful explaniton is?
@@dropbearattack and then also his explanation of how God's love works in conjunction with our will of choosing not to believe. Like God does his part while we are here, but if we continue to reject Him, He's not going to force us to love him. Then he used the women in the room as an example to illustrate how we respond to him if we aren't interested. Overall I really enjoyed the discussion between the atheist and Frank. They both did a really great job in articulating themselves. And I learned a lot in such a brief discussion.

I'll just take some of the S. U .R.G.E argument, for now; ignoring the preceding suppositions made by Turek concerning ontology.
It seems that you are "wowed" and others here are wishing for the education to be able to argue with atheists
precisely because your science education is lacking.
@@dropbearattack good stuff what you are saying. But unfortunately I'm not Turek. I personally would like to hear what he would say in response to your comment. You already acknowledged that I'm not in the same league as you so why waste your time. Lol.
If a person whose explanation you are criticizing isn't here to defend himself then how can I the viewer have a proper presentation to judge. You may be right, or you may be biased. I have no clue. But one thing I will say is that you have an explanation though. But it would be very difficult for a simpleton like me to know if it substantially holds weight.
Geeeeeeeeez.... This made me smile because the points he made where straight out of the holy spirit... Amen to this. Also S/O to the atheist for trying to search for answers, but also being a good sport.
Brilliantly put Frank, and thanks so much. May everybody find Jesus Christ in this life.
Beautiful debate. I only wish I had the education and background to be able to confront unbelievers with such knowledge and a loving heart. Well done!
Randy Tucker
Are you serious?
What knowledge do you think Turek has that you don't?
Don't wish, take it upon yourself as a challenge to get their knowledge! I think it's something that all of us Christian should do! I think it's our responsibility to!
ramdy, turek is a dimwit. i could tear him apart, like a lot of his debate opponents have.
louis cyfer just b/c he doesn't think like u tsk tsk
helen, are you kidding me? i can tear him apart because he is demonstrably wrong.
The most beautiful answer you could ever get. God bless you frank
Excellent questions and answers. I like how civil they both were.
This was a very satisfying discussion. Well done to both men.
First I was a Christian, then I denied God and became an Atheist, then Apologetic Christianity brought me back. Intelligence and logic is the best rationalization to religion.
There is a Christian apologetic argument that is logical ? Please share it.
simon burns Well the whole entire basis of Christian apologetics is making sense of the argument that other Christians make that aren't rational to secular society. If you want I will share one so long as we don't get into a 20 comment long debate cause I really don't like wasting so much time on that kind of stuff.
IvoryStrike Knock yourself out.
IvoryStrike "I really don't like wasting so much time on that kind of stuff".........Waste time ?....... Don't you believe you exist for an eternity ?
simon burns So this was when I was writing in my book about the question "If God is omniscient and omnipotent, why would he let people suffer and let evil exist."
"Many people don't understand that what God had created and intended for us to live under was perfect.
I can't like this video enough. Great explanation filled with compassion and respect. A Christ filled exchange...
This was great. The young man had some really great questions and Frank's explanations were solid. Great!
Yes, love the tough questions. Really helps us think.
does it REALLY help you guys think if you just blatantly ignore the questions and stick to your faith? It's easier to just be honest and admit you guys won't change your minds and that you patronize atheists like the man in the video.
Knightfall8 So basically what you're saying is "I'm right, you're wrong". There's not much room for discussion there.
+Robert Love actually "im right youre wrong" is the christian tactic. the atheist asks "why are you right" then the christian fumbles around unconvincingly.
+Robert Love there's always room for discussion if youre intellectually honest enough to defend extraordinary claims with sufficient evidence
Seriously, I have goosebumps from Turek’s explanation.
His explanation of what? About how he's immoral?
I appreciate how respectful both people were here. Good rapport.
What this guy says makes so much sense that I question how atheists continue to not believe
Then I would suggest you have a very low standard of evidence, and a high level of gullibility.
Tony Littman so, what is it that keeps you from believing?
SJBrawlsF2P7 Brawl Stars Mainly lack of evidence, plus the fact that Judaism and Christianity were cobbled together over hundred of years from a mixture of other religions.
Tony Littman there are plenty of evidence, but none of them are good enough for you. Christianity wasn’t formed by taking parts of other religions. Christians are followers of Christ, so they follow what Jesus says and they rely on the Bible as well. I don’t know too much about Judaism so I won’t say anything about it.
@@sjbrawlsf2p7brawlstars14 OK, hi, thanks for reply. I'm sorry, but you are just wrong. Firstly, Jesus was a JEW, who preached JUDAISM to the JEWS, so right from the word go, your claim that Christianity wasn't formed by taking parts of other religions is wrong.
I love this guy. straight up! classy and respectful. I see God all over him. thank you mister! God bless you
The first ones second question is absolutely amazing. This guy has genuine questions, and im happy his questions where answered. I love people like this because they arent just blindly hateful and yell random nonsense about scripture, and take time to learn and question it correctly.
It doesn't make Turek's answer viable, though.
What a great explanation to very difficult questions. Explained eloquently and directly. God bless you.
If we as Christians cannot make the gospel relevant and personal like this man did, it will never be possible for it to be accepted. Never needed.
If you had been born in another country... You would very likely have had a different religion.... And sworn blindly that yours was the right one.... And all chrisians were wrong...
You doubt God's power to save? Do you really think Paul from the Bible was saved because of a formidable speaker?
@@curlybillbrosius3160 Absolutely. Ever since the beginning of mankind we've looked at the temptation of separation from our creator. Satan mixed a little truth with lies from the start. When Adam and Eve had kids, not long from then (relatively speaking) there was already other religions and false gods. Even then some believed much of what is good and then changed it to suit their own desires. Thousands of years later we see the same thing, but further along. The one thing that hasn't changed is God's word. This is said bearing in mind New and Old testaments. The old speaks of the new, and the new of the old. They say the same thing.
@@austingeorge6659 - I do think Stephen was a formidable speaker but the real one who spoke and saved him was Christ, so. .. yeah? I never doubt Gods power. Are you trying to make an obscure point? Maybe something I'm not even debating? Jesus ALWAYS made His points relevant. Do you think He shouldn't have?
@@austingeorge6659 sorry Austin....but if the bible is the word of god... Then god is very poor at getting his message across clearly.... It's full of contradictions... And abject cruelty.... The god of the bible is a pretty horrific creature.... As for the fairy tale Adam and Eve.... There lies even more of god's... Weird and bizarre nature...
Jesus (if he actually existed) was probably a cool dude to know... Son of god ? Probably not. More likely spent his unreported life in India learning all about the 'temple within'...
If you do some study of eastern spiritual teachings...(Buddhism etc) you soon realise that this is where Jesus's teachings came from. They are identical. But Buddhism has been around since before Jesus. At the time of Jesus birth ....India was the spiritual mecca. This is where any boy of Jesus's persuasion would have been sent to help encourage his interest.....
Do some research...that doesn't include the bible....
See where it leads you.... If the Bible is truly for you then the research will lead you back that way. But please don't just blindly follow.... You have a brain of your own ...don't be afraid... .....use it.... See where it takes you.
God bless this man. Straight to the point, no BS, no stumbling, respectful, and eloquent in every single response.
Thank you sir. Blessed presentation. A scientific perspective that has been written on my heart but I don't express it outside of my family. Glad to hear it . Very encouraging.
That's not science.
@@tornay131 I won't change your mind. Not up to me.
@@zgarrett14 the statement of science being written on a metaphor sounds like flowery language. Nothing scientific there.
It's very clever how Frank turns the question around and instead of saying "Yes they are going to hell" he instead says "No, God will not force you into heaven."
Brilliant Tactic.
Yet still has the burden of proof.
this was really good the atheist had good questions and Frank answered. Both sides were respectful no one disrespected anyones belief. 😩 why can't all theist vs atheit arguements be like this.
I like how simple wisdom is. It is accessible even to a child.
+C Rizzy Perception is everything.
actually Ive seen someone try to explain the dumb "uncaused causer" argument to a child, and the child was like "but why would everything need a cause but one thing?" the adult tried to play it off but the kid pressed the issue.
Well, good luck reaching for success using wrong answers. A thing exists or does not exist, is right or is not right simply because of how we think or what we say. However, the truth remains the truth even if none believe it.
which god? - and I do not mean if U believe in the Islamic god U r fucked when U r a Christian and vice versa - there are 390 000 000 worshiped in India only ! before U talking about a god U have to prove that the other gods are false - and nobody could do it until now
Pio chanel 2 the Christian GOD is only the true GOD
I really appreciate this clip on brother Turek. He's starting to get that patience that comes with age and he still shows love in his heart though he's heard the questions a hundred times. Clapping.
Interesting,....I suppose it is all about how this is interpreted....because I see Turek standing there rather arrogantly...expressing ideologies he just expects people to accept.
Thank you for those wonderful answers Dr. Turek!
Glad I happened across this video, it was a great explanation as to how God works.
*"This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet."* (Luke 11:29) *I'm 20 and was an atheist out of ignorance* to the word of God in my preteens-teens, but then God called out to me and I found my way back. I am not good, as Jesus said no one is but God himself, but each day I strive to walk in his commandments and statutes and will be baptized and born again this year. Even when I was lost, God prevented me from departing from a moral path and I still feel so much guilt over ever denying our merciful, kind, all-powerful creator. The entitlement of atheists seeking "signs" is amazing - read the Bible - it's a living breathing sign.
Bertha Lovejoy amen
But today is NOT the same generation, or with the same experiences, or familiarities, or view of nature...
This is what's called an appeal to emotion fallacy . . . how something makes you feel has no bearing on whether it's true or not. If your god was all kind, it wouldn't need the threat of a hell to bring people into the fold. You were never an atheist . . . you were a closet believer, or at the very least a dishonest intellectual, or intellectually lazy.
@@teknicron1080 lmao at the gate-keeping. If you're going to argue about fallacious reasoning at least try not to do it yourself... An atheist is anybody that has a lack of belief in a god/gods that's the only qualifier one needs.
@@attiladahunk8211 I was referring the OP's claim of being an atheist, and proving how they weren't one, but rather someone who believed in a god, but didn't actively worship in any form, which is what many religious people tend to consider atheism without understanding it's implications. applebug Great answers? He is arguing that is that there had to be SOME cause for the universe, and whatever the bloody heck it is, we are going to call it God. Fair enough.
But then he goes on saying that god loves you. From where does he says THAT? of course the bible. which again makes his argument least bit related to science, logic and reason. If I am claim that the big bang happened as the result of a firecracker going off in some higher dimension set off by a 12 year old higher dimensional kid who is not even AWARE of our existence, then that also applies to the first part of the argument. My question is, How do you know that the SOME cause loves you or care about you or is even aware of you? If that guy in the audience had asked this question, I would have very much liked to see him answer while still sticking to the scientific methodology. Since I cant do that, and you seem to think that his answer was great, I look forward for your replay.
