“Towhead blonde” means his hair was extremely blonde (like platinum blonde) and “eyes of salt” is referring to the ocean (because it’s salty) and she’s saying his eyes were brilliantly blue. (0:53)

@@jonathan_8100 olivia did say she wrote this for the lgbtq ppl so it can also mean the parents in this song didn't like the fact that their children r part of it, so he can also cut himself bc his father feel disappointed etc at him
people view it differently, i don’t think there’s any right or wrong answers tbf. but i view it as his dad maybe abused him or wtv which lead to him self-harming, but again, everyone has different answers/opinions.

Ahh thanks for this input! Olivia can sometimes get abstract with her lyrics. We were all like “WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN” ... now I wonder what “eyes of salt” mean ?! I know this not eye color..cause salty eyes means dry eyes!

Eyes of salt actually means having dry eyes! Like your eyes start getting itchy or inflamed. She could be talking about the lack of emotions in his eyes or having watery eyes.

I’m not sure how this song fits this album unless she’s finally turning her focus away from herself to acknowledge the pain others around her are going through or living with. Child abuse is a serious topic to abruptly switch to. Wish she had written “re-li-gion” instead of “the Bi-ble.”
