I think a lot of trades use their hammer as a guide to place plug outlets. about a foot off floor .some go 18 inches in basements for flooding.

My mom and dad had a mobile home many years ago. One day during lunch my dad noticed that one of the wall plugs was smoking. He jumped up from the table and grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed the outlet putting the fire out. Thank God my dad was home. He took the outlet out and discovered aluminum wire was used. My dad rewired the whole mobile home and found other wiring burnt.

I used to have repeating nightmares about fires in the walls. So when I see you taking such care in doing your wiring RIGHT, I take a lot of comfort in that - for you and your family!

You might want to cut and install a piece of blocking between the two studs and remove that butterfly anchor and then you have a more secure mounting for the kitchen cabinet!!

@@sam-and-angela Great job!, yeah, you might as well fix all the whoopdi-doos in the walls while you're at the renovations, same goes for the laundry room, maybe move the wall back about a foot or two, beef up the 2x3's and any other micky mouse work that the factory did, or didn't do!, also you might want to completely redo the spice rack. As for the master bedroom closet, it looks like you have at least 2 1/2 feet depth to play with to make it roomy enough for your clothes! Thanks again for your videos!

They make those wire staples with plastic insulators, so they won't damage the wire. Those staples are not suppose of be hammered hard against the romex. Just enough to lightly hold the wire in place.

So the metal staples aren’t supposed to be hammered down all the way. Just hammered past the silver tip. Same with plastic staples. Compression = fire. That’s why a lot of new construction uses zip ties to tack wires up.

You two are doing great on you renovation. My husband and I have a 1988 mobile home. My husband was sick over 10 year's we lost every thing we had. He needed a liver transplant and we lived in his parents camper for three years. We almost lost him and he told his mama and daddy he was hoping to have me in a home before he died. So they bought this for us and bought everything we needed to make it fit to live in. Seven years ago on May 16th he received his liver and is doing great. I know everything is going to be beautiful when you get it finished.

Older mobile homes use to catch 🔥 fire all the time, and it's plain to see why. That spaghetti ball of wires looks a whole lot better. I agree with Sam, I like the wiring to look near & organized. And I like it if the wiring makes sense. Good job Angela getting all those p.i.t.a. little brads, nails & protrusions cut off so that it's easier to hang the drywall.

Sometimes it takes doing one little thing at a time to reach the final goal.
Glad you are taking the time to correct everything behind the drywall, instead of just throwing up drywall to make it look good in appearance only.

I highly recommend insulating any interior wall to help with sound deadening while you have access, especially since you have feral children. It greatly improves quality of life, in my opinion, and the cost is very minor, especially as it relates to that quality of life improvement.

I for one will never knock a mobile home. I lived in one for about 10 years. Like Sam and Angela, mine was well used before I got it for a song. I paid $1,500 for mine. I did a lot of renovations and it was very comfortable for the time we lived in it. Better still, it was only costing us $80 per month to rent the lot we were on. Unfortunately, the park was closed and we had to move. We got a very good price for it when we sold... much more than what we invested in it.

so a way to strengthen any wall or framed area is to put plywood over it and if you have a week area that's already sheeted with thin plywood you can overlap and strengthen it relatively easy and fast.
it just boils down to cost verse need and how much you want to engineer a project.👍

I would recommend that you connect all wiring for outlets with pigtails and waygu connections or wire nuts to avoid any failure of connections in the outlet plugs themselves! By doing this, if the outlet plug fails, then the rest of the circuit won't be dead and causing you hours of troubleshooting the problem of half of the home being in the dark ! Hope this makes sense! I'd love to know how you did the addition. We're in the process of doing our mobile home now too and would love to add on a dinning room and three seasons porch in the future but unsure how that construction goes. We have loads of experience in stick built home construction but new to the mobile home construction.

As someone who spent many a year living in a mobile home I would highly recommend if you have not put the drywall up in the bedroom yet, whatever on the other side of the last wall of this video is hung on a hollow wall anchor to take that down and put in a backing block to screw that in. I cannot tell you how many things in my own place were hung with hollow wall anchors (since those teeny tiny studs were very difficult to find let alone properly hit the center of one hanging something) that for a year or two or just fine. Until today that the not overweighted item ripped the hollow wall and current out of the wall leaving me with a giant hole to patch. The mobile home I owned was 9 years old when I bought it and we lived in it for almost 10 years.

The conduit pieces going through the studs usually have burrs on the inside and will cut the wires running through them. Mine almost started a fire. They are there to keep drywall screws from going into the wires.

Everything is looking great. Two suggestions before drywall .The toggle bolts What are they holding up? Back them up with blocking and remove the toggle bolts for screws makes it a lot stronger.
Please install safety straps over each hole that the electric is going through that dont have the pipe over the wires so you dont drive a drewall through it

I feel your pain, mobile homes are notorious for crappy wiring and thousands of unnecessary staples pin nails. All my outlets were just held by the sheet rock no 2x4s or 1x3s just a weird flap top and bottom that held them directly to the dry wall.

Looks nice and lots of hard work. Need mail plates over the hole through studs to protect wires and noticed a few staples through the wire sheathing. You remind me a of good friend of mine.

You guys are doing a great job. You’re going to really enjoy your bedroom once it’s all finished and you are moved back into the house. It’s a good thing that you decided to go ahead and get it done because there’s been a lot of issues for you to address to get things locked down and solid. I hope your house will give you many years of comfort in the future.
