I know you had to spend more money and time, but at least you found out before both outer walls were complete. You and Angela, and Doug and Ashley are so lucky you are all friends, you are all wonderful people.
Sam, I LOVE Doug and Ashley! That’s how I found you and Angela. He got the peanut butter spoon from you. I’ve been hooked ever since. Both of you are hard working couples and it’s commendable!💕
I love how you two young men are communicating together on your different remodels. You are both very smart men and your wives are right there with you pitching in ! Wouldn’t our world be a better place if we all worked together and helped each other! God Bless
Sam it takes a humble man to admit to his mistakes. You are a rare bird. And as always still praying for you and your family for safety and progress. Hope the electric gets installed soon.
Yes, it takes a big man to admit an error - but hey, isn’t it nice to have a buddy who has your back !!! Good save by Doug @Diyfferent !! And , I loved the “ whistle while you work “ music 🎶 !! 🤣❤️ You’re moving along nicely, Sam ✅✅
As soon as you talked about the different sections of the South being classified in different numbers for insulation procedures and having to take yours out an immediate “ Oh No” came out of my mouth! Doug just talked about that also today as he is insulating his ceiling in the bedroom of his house.
"hogging out and not chunking up your stuff." That was an exact visual representation of how my stuff looks after I try to cut a straight line. Thanks for the tips especially about looking where your going instead of looking where you've been.
The other thing I always like to do before I put up the gyp board is take a photo of the wall. That will remind me later when I inevitable forget, where the blocking is and what the framing looks like in the corners where it sometimes gets wonky. I always THINK I’m going to remember, but after forgetting one too many times, a photo is worth the few seconds it takes and reinforces my memory. Great job, Sam and Angela!
I guess they have the advantage that they have these videos they could refer to if they ever needed to recall where they had placed framing and blocking. Unlike us mere mortals who have to rely on photos and our memory 😂
My husband and I had our own drywall company for 30 years. Retired now. But I think you are doing a great job and I enjoy watching you and Angela. Keep up the good work.
Most contractor crews have what I call universal terminology. My favorite for drywall is to describe the edges. When two manufactured(tapered and papered) edges meet, it’s called finished edge. A butt joint is when the non-finished or cut edges meet. On the butt joints, have you considered or tried V-grooving to get a better taped and mud finish? It was a game changer for my finish work. V-grooving is done by using a utility knife to cut an angle along the joint giving it the taper or cavity to mimics the taper of the finished edge. There are several videos showing the technique if my explanation was too complicated. 😊
I started watching you when you popped up while I watched Doug and Ashley. I saw where he was talking about the difference in vapor barriers. Glad you didn't get to far before you talked to Doug.
A little side not for those guys doing this and would like some noise barrier, put some long drywall behind the outer wall in the pockets and it you'd like some extra put insulation on one side. I found this out when I did my upstairs bedroom wired internet I found this type of sound barrier. It's not perfect but it does reduce the sound considerably. For finishing a friend of mine used to do it professionally and he taught me to use a spray bottle with water set to mist to extend the amount of time you can work with the mud, it works extremely well. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
What a blessing to know the vapor barrier was wrong at this stage for easy correction. Fighting mold, mildew and moisture for future years should go much smoother.
Looks like you’ve got this all figured out! You probably have a lot of people thinking you’ve been doing drywall for more than just a few jobs. Great job!
I saw some one take a gallon bag put mud in and cut corner of bag. They used it in corners and on top by ceiling cracks then went with puddy knife. Filled in alot better
SAM, YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A GOOD FRIEND AND FOLLOWERS WHO STEERED YOU RIGHT WITHOUT CRITISIZING. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT VIDEO. GOD BLESS Y'ALL ❤❤🙏
Advice from a nightmare drywall experience: After the mud is in, rent a wall sander. I didn't learn this until the last room of the house and then kicked myself realizing how much work I could have saved myself (and my back, arms and shoulders). LOL.... Great work guys! Looks great so far!
I didn't even realize about the vapor barrier, because it is what we use in northern Saskatchewan. Could you have used the yellow insulation on an inside wall for sound prevention? Good you caught it before totally finishing. Great job, looking forward to seeing the finished room.
I thought the same. The yellow insulation was so pristine, that I wished it had been moved to some interior areas like the wall between the kitchen and the bedroom to give you and Angela some soundproofing from those awesome feral boys 😉
Hey Sam, just found your channel. As far as drywall finishing is concerned, some advice from my 35 years of working in the manufactured home industry. Use paper tape instead of mesh. Mesh is thicker than paper, is harder to hide and is easier to become visible again if your not very careful while sanding. Sure you need to get a technique while putting it on because its not sticky, but a bit of practice and pretty easy. Just mud the crack sufficiently, ( make sure to cover in mud enough to make sure the entire underside of the paper tape is bedded in wet mud), measure and press the paper into the mud, and cover and smooth it out with your taping knife removing any extra mud. Use good pressure and a wide knife, 8". Remember while taping, LESS IS MORE!! With a bit of practice, sanding can be held to a minimum. Feel free to contact me here if you want, there isn't much on a mobile home I haven't rebuilt many many times. Great videos by the way.
Glad you were able to fix your mistake before the drywall was completed! Although I will not personally be installing drywall, I enjoyed learning how you mark and cut the angles.
Back when my brother came in to finish off our drywall before finishing, he had a special blade that would "V" cut the butt seems, so that your edges were ready for finishing. I believe it was something he purchased from Erie Materials. He's no longer with us, so I can't ask. But 90% of his supplies came from them.
Great job! The bedroom is taking shape. Talking to Doug was a good idea, he’s a very knowledgeable man. I stared watching your channel because of Doug and Ashley.
I was so tickled to hear you say that you and Doug talk back and forth!!! I've been watching Doug and Ashley for years and LOVE them so much, and now I have TWO favorite renovator channels (yours and DIYfferent). Both channels are refreshingly honest and wholesome, and a pleasure to watch. Love to you all!
Glad you’re friends with Doug and Ashley … I swear, that dude knows more than you’d expect from such a young man because he researches everything over and again. At least you found out now before problems developed where you couldn’t see it. Good work, Sam 🙂
Glad you redid the wall safer than sorry. You make it look so easy. I hate drywall, just makes a mess. The bedroom will be so nice when you get finished. Stay safe , blessings!
Your knife cutting tips are the way I was taught by a drywaller. And, ALWAYS remember to insulate ALL the walls around a bathroom...maybe that isn't a bathroom?
We all make mistakes. Part of learning. Glad you had a good friend to assist! I love watching y’all and Doug and Ashley. Nice families, doing what they can to improve life for the whole family.
I watch Doug from DIYfferent and his family, too - in fact: waaay back he mentioned your channel and that is how I found you - been subbed ever since. Loooved the super secret peanut butter jar scraper collab!
Hey getting the information out is the best thing to do so that others can learn and get the appropriate vapor barrier for their zones. Y'all are awesome for sharing.
That wrist movement or licking the wrist works for cake decorating as well . You and Doug’s channel is a must see weekly by me. Enjoy your family as well as Doug and Ashley’s family.
Thanks Doug for watching out for Sam and Angela. You all are favorites for me. Really look forward for both of your videos. Great job Sam. Maybe you could do a chair rail or board and batton wall. Just thinking ahead. No rush.
Fun fact on drywall. Most people don’t read the back of the drywall mud buckets, but most people sand it and cause a very dusty mess, but on the back of the bucket, it says to get a wet sponge and wet sand your seams. Meaning you have no dusty mess. We tried it and it’s sooooo amazing. You’ll be mad you ever did it the other way.
Wow! once again you are so amazing at your drywall installation. I am always impressed at watching you. My first husband who is now my ex and the father of my 2 children that are grown is a contractor so I learned a lot from him on how to install drywall and tape and put on the compound and fill in the screw holes and then he put texture on the walls. I have learned a lot from him, I know how to tile, grout, all that stuff. I really like watching the progress you are making and I missed seeing Angela in this video, but understand that she has that business. I am looking forward to your next video, and do understand that replacing that old insulation with the new stuff was a great idea and better for the end result. Thanks again, sending love and hugs, bye for now.
My two favorite channels are collaborating. I love it. You’ve both got a lot of work to do, but here is a channel to watch that I think will cheer you: De Hoeve, Old Belgian Farm. I really feel sorry for that family.
These are the 2 I follow as well. Beware if you use paypal....my card was hacked and these are the only place I used them. I dont think either of our channels did it. Bank can't tell. The hacker used a text now phone number. Watch your email
Congratulations on fixing the drywall installation. It looks so good. You did a great job. I am look forward to the next episodes. Have a great weekend. Hope to see you next week. Blessings on you and your family.
Its looking nice in there! One thing about the outlet oscillating attachment is you could get some pliers and tweak the sides out a bit so it would cut the holes slightly bigger, i'm sure it will leave a little drywall in the corners but it would be pretty easy to clean up the corners if needed.
When you get ready to mud the sheetrock, check out Al Lumnah's (Lumnah's Acres) video about taping the corners. He used a large Zip Loc bag that he snipped the corner to apply the taping compound. He said it was a huge time saver. Your sheetrock looks really good. Great tip you got from Doug. He's hung his fair share of outer wall sheetrock.
I really enjoy watching your progress. It's looking great. Have you guys thought of just doing a full extra video of just bloopers? Could do multiple as needed 😁
Sam, I just bought an 8" sander to do the seams, in the house I just finished. I redid all the drywall in it. This saved several hours of sanding. I bought it from Amazon.
Very impressed that you are humble enough to take advice and give credit where credit is do. I have commented on some other TH-cam videos trying to help people out and they just made it it seem like it was there idea and didn’t even mention it. So way to go
Love that DIYfferent and y’all have each other’s backs. Completely interested in that back door… looking to replace my side door soon and wondering what I might uncover. Thanks for taking us along on the journey. Truly appreciate it. ✨🤗✨
Hopefully that's not too far away then and it proves helpful! I need to get some editing time in to catch people up. :) Currently, we have no floor in the area where our laundry room USED to be. The home is quite the open concept now. LOL
It's impossible to know about these things because theres SO much information out there. Especially because there are different climates everywhere. We're in FL so we need different things than you do (maybe?!) it's so hard to know. All I know is that houses NEED to breathe so you can't waterproof stuff or air proof anything and there needs to be a way for water to dry itself out and air to get in and out. It's so confusing!! Especially since right now I'm going through all my house to caulk everything up to make it sealed up. Ok, I wanted to know about that silver foil insulation - which side do I put the silver on in FL? I can get 20 different answers to this lol! Also, I want do redo the underbelly and insulation in the floor - I've been told NOT to put insulation on it because it doesnt need it. I've been told to encapsulate under the house, but also told NOT to encapsulate because it will cause water issues lol. OMG So if you go the professional route, they're going to charge you 5k for labor to put in $800 worth of materials lol.
I enjoy watching y’all’s channel. The wife and I remodeled our old house. We feel the pain of replacing floors. Keep it up. 👍. Looking forward to seeing more.
Yes, I saw Doug w/DIYfferent channel & his last video on this subject. You learn something new everyday! Great job & well done, Sam!! I really like how you did those angles on the drywall. You make it look so easy. I sew clothes & I can relate a little bit to your practical methods. It works great!!
Plus, by replacing the insulation you’re getting rid of the black mold that I pointed out weeks ago is on the old insulation. Black mold can seep through areas even though you think they’re covered up.
Love you guys helping each other! You and Doug are both trying to do an awesome job on your homes- and your wives are right there with you working too. I hope your families can meet up sometime and do a collaboration project, or just have a fun time together, or both!
I add paper drop cloth that comes in the big rolls, I place it over the Unfaced insulation. I had an engineer tell me that while not ideal according to code. It does actually create the same intended barrier and he’s since approved it numerous times.
I'm glad Doug gave you a shout about the vapor barrier. I only know about Michigan. Since that's the only place I've lived. I'll be moving south so it was great info for me to have. At least it's done right now before the room was done. Bye Sam. Loved the giggles Angela.
Dude that is hilarious when you speed it up with the Alvin and chipmunks chirps as you work that double angle piece of drywall classic we all look like that man it's so funny thank you for that
The only reason I brought up the plastic was because I helped a man who thought he would be more energy efficient by adding that over his insulation inside and outside. That was the first and only time I had ever heard of doing such a thing. That man wanted me to finish the drywall which I said sure no problem. I told him we would need some drywall tape and another man there said they don't use tape anymore. I said well you finish it because I would not take part in that. Some time later I went by that house an that was the biggest mess I have ever seen. Mold was everywhere and ever seam in the drywall was cracked. It was awful on a level I had never seen ever in my life. Now in regard to drywall screws whenever we used screws we had an adjustable drywall screw gun so that all the screws would be more uniform. We adjusted it so the screw would be countersunk without breaking the paper and when finishing our trowel would not detect any screws. Made finishing the drywall quick and easy. I have used two types of drywall tape one is paper another is fiberglass I have never had any problems using either of them and I prefer fiberglass now because it eliminates having to bed it in which takes up more time. Some may argue to differ but mainly because they don't like change. I have never had any complaints or problems using fiberglass drywall tape. However you be your own judge.
If you are going to to texture when you you do your walls a suggestion. A professional painter freind of mine said that his crew always mixed in the paint with the texture it saves a step.
You & Angela and Doug & Ashley are all great human beings. So glad you guys are able to do your bedroom during this "downtime" when you can't live in the house anyway. It sounds like a luxury to us as we've been renovating room-by-room while living here! Best of luck and look forward to watching you and your family's adventure through life!
Thank you for doing what yall do! My wife and I do as much as we can ourselves as well. Neither of us are pros by any means and always looking for ways to save money and do stuff ourselves. It's all knowledge we try to pass on to our children so they can be handy as well. Y'all do a great job explaining things and keeping it simple so thank you! One thing I could suggest that you've probably heard and has made my life so much easier when it comes to cutting drywall nice and straight . Is an oscillating tool. Picked up a Chicago electric at harbor freight for 20 bucks and it's one of the best tools I've ever bought. I use it for cutting drywall, wood and metal. I had to replace a part of my front door casing that had rotted out from the elements and it worked excellent! I used the tool to remove the bottom 6 inches with precision making the fix very simple. Maybe you've tried this already but thought I'd mention it. Thanks again!!
On "Good simple living" they just got down with drywall and a comment you made makes me tell you this. All of the drywall they put up they sanded the edges so that there was a channel for the mud to make a good grip. If you are interested go to their channel and watch a couple of the drywall videos. They aren't the only ones I have seen do this. Blessings be upon yall, I hope it all works for you.
I was glad to see you replace that old yellow insulation for 2 reasons. 1--there was some nasty dark discoloration that looked like mold, at least from behind my monitor, and 2--I'm sure the new insulation actually has a higher R value than the 30+ year old stuff had.
For finishing the dry wall what has helped me the most is to use a 14 inch trowel. And to thin your mud down just a little bit when you do your 3rd coat, seems to eliminate a lot of sanding. Another tip for putting up drywall is to use lipstick on outlet boxes then set your sheet rock against it and give it a couple Smacks where the box is, it leaves a nice outline where to cut.
I know you had to spend more money and time, but at least you found out before both outer walls were complete. You and Angela, and Doug and Ashley are so lucky you are all friends, you are all wonderful people.
Doug and Ashley are full of knowledge, love their work
@@odettebaker3118 yes they are. And I love them too. I do wish the mean people would just go away and stop upsetting them.
God Bless
Yep, help each other, build each other up,...
. You are so right the world will be better, you are helping build it better. Thank you
Sam it takes a humble man to admit to his mistakes. You are a rare bird. And as always still praying for you and your family for safety and progress. Hope the electric gets installed soon.
Coming along great....we all can learn....nobody knows it all....but it takes a real man to admit when he's wrong......hugs
Yes, it takes a big man to admit an error - but hey, isn’t it nice to have a buddy who has your back !!!
Good save by Doug @Diyfferent !!
And , I loved the “ whistle while you work “ music 🎶 !! 🤣❤️
You’re moving along nicely, Sam ✅✅
I subscribed because you are the first person on TH-cam to admit they aren't perfect.
Good thing Doug let you know before the whole wall was done!
As soon as you talked about the different sections of the South being classified in different numbers for insulation procedures and having to take yours out an immediate “ Oh No” came out of my mouth! Doug just talked about that also today as he is insulating his ceiling in the bedroom of his house.
Your doing a superb job. Most people would have kept going and said to heck with it. Hats off to a pro job.
The bedroom is taking shape. It’s going to be so nice.

I did that when we built our house. I've gone back several times to look for blocking & electrical.
I guess they have the advantage that they have these videos they could refer to if they ever needed to recall where they had placed framing and blocking. Unlike us mere mortals who have to rely on photos and our memory 😂

Doug is a smart guy. I actually found your channel because of him and Ashley.
I was honestly impressed with all the pointers you gave will really be helpful! People like you are the reason I watch You tube , to learn!

Doug mentioned you guys on his channel and that's how I found you guys. So glad he did! Blessings from Oregon.
Don't worry about drywall mistakes. The "Mud-Man" will fix it. 😂
I like that drywall bit too, sets the screw to the proper depth.
I saw some one take a gallon bag put mud in and cut corner of bag. They used it in corners and on top by ceiling cracks then went with puddy knife. Filled in alot better
Ooh, I bet a disposable pastry bag would work like a charm!
SAM, YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A GOOD FRIEND AND FOLLOWERS WHO STEERED YOU RIGHT WITHOUT CRITISIZING. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT VIDEO. GOD BLESS Y'ALL ❤❤🙏

Great job! The bedroom is taking shape.

Love that you and Doug communicate. Your channels are my favorite.
yeah i also like them both. I loved the sort of wooden spoon he sent to doug for honey (long time ago)
You meant to say peanut butter stirrer 😁
Glad you’re friends with Doug and Ashley … I swear, that dude knows more than you’d expect from such a young man because he researches everything over and again. At least you found out now before problems developed where you couldn’t see it. Good work, Sam 🙂
Indeed!!!
Thanks for the tips, Bro Sam. Thanks.
I dont know squat, all the hard work you folks do is always enlightening, and you folks are cute & funny! Great Channel
When you get to the wall and ceiling joint just caulk it and put some crown molding up.
Good advice! No sense in lots of work to just cover it up!
Glad you redid the wall safer than sorry. You make it look so easy. I hate drywall, just makes a mess. The bedroom will be so nice when you get finished. Stay safe , blessings!
You and Angela are so 😎 and by the way I watch Doug and Ashley as well and they’re pretty groovy! Y’all are straight up good families ❤️🌸🌻

Hey getting the information out is the best thing to do so that others can learn and get the appropriate vapor barrier for their zones. Y'all are awesome for sharing.
Sure do enjoy watching, thank you for sharing.👍
The sureform/cheese grater works great, but you can use a sanding block with 80 grit sandpaper, just to smooth the cut edges!
Vapor barriers go behind the outside paneling only. The inside wall has to breath
That wrist movement or licking the wrist works for cake decorating as well . You and Doug’s channel is a must see weekly by me. Enjoy your family as well as Doug and Ashley’s family.

You are restoring your home to a NEW single wide trailer! It's going to last a long time and be perfect for your beautiful and blessed family💗
So glad you replaced the insulation! Bravo.
At least the wall wasn’t all the way covered no harm no foul, nice info on vapor barriers
You are doing an awesome job, that black stuff is the glue sprayed to attach the fiberglass to the paper..
Congratulations on fixing the drywall installation. It looks so good. You did a great job. I am look forward to the next episodes. Have a great weekend. Hope to see you next week. Blessings on you and your family.
I'm so glad you listen to Dough he's a genius when it comes to renovating Mobile homes!!

@@sam-and-angela that is awesome, keep up the good content thanks for taking the time to make the videos.
LOL
Best to go back now then later
No damage later xx
You crack me up, haha. Great work, especially on all those tricky cuts.
Thank you, and thank you again for giving your advice, it is always welcomed. :)
Oh well the bedroom will get done because you and your wife are just the best people. God keep you is my prayer.
I enjoy watching y’all’s channel. The wife and I remodeled our old house. We feel the pain of replacing floors. Keep it up. 👍. Looking forward to seeing more.
Super job! Can't wait to see it all when your done!
I have learned so much from you 2. You are great thank you .
Plus, by replacing the insulation you’re getting rid of the black mold that I pointed out weeks ago is on the old insulation. Black mold can seep through areas even though you think they’re covered up.
I too love Doug & Ashley. I love people who go the extra mile to do things right. You guys got this! Hugs to Yall Ü
Love your videos !! BTW. I always cut along the edge of a big metal ruler or T square. No problem with straight cuts then 👍🏻👍🏻
Love you guys helping each other! You and Doug are both trying to do an awesome job on your homes- and your wives are right there with you working too.
I hope your families can meet up sometime and do a collaboration project, or just have a fun time together, or both!
Love watching you guys doing the remodeling. We’ve done that too and built onto out mobile home 1978.
So glad you talked to Doug love their channel
Dude that is hilarious when you speed it up with the Alvin and chipmunks chirps as you work that double angle piece of drywall classic we all look like that man it's so funny thank you for that
Great job Sam. I am glad to see you replace the insulation.
You all please take care and be safe
And laying it on the floor to cut always helps me
Oh well, live and learn and today I learned something. Magical craft paper. Now that’s special!🤩
Have a happy safe weekend
God bless
Looks very nice Sam,, So glad you did that out side wall too! Can't wait till the next one!
Awesome job getting the those angles on the drywall
Hi you are both doing great well done ❤💙❤💖👏👏👏xx
For finishing the dry wall what has helped me the most is to use a 14 inch trowel. And to thin your mud down just a little bit when you do your 3rd coat, seems to eliminate a lot of sanding. Another tip for putting up drywall is to use lipstick on outlet boxes then set your sheet rock against it and give it a couple Smacks where the box is, it leaves a nice outline where to cut.
