      Must’ve been awesome. I’m pretty young but I got to see Roger Waters’ The Wall during his tour pretty recently. Born in 2003 but no one let me know about Pink Floyd t’ill like 2010

    I´m a Vietnam vet and ¨Brain Damage¨ was written about me. Got to keep the loonies on the path. I have maximum PTSD. The lunatic is in my head. You raise the blade, you make the change; you rearrange me till I´m sane. You lock the door, throw away the key, there´s someone in my head but it´s not me. That describes how I feel each and every day. Yes, I think that I´m insane. I´m 66 now and I feel my life is over. I think about ending it every day that goes by. I cannot tell these things to my wife; she wouldn´t understand. All I can do is post here and maybe one day after I´m gone she may find these comments. Maybe I should stop listening to Pink Floyd, but they are my favorite group.

    Dark Side of the Moon, on the charts for 743 weeks, has sold millions of albums. And easily is one of the greatest albums ever produced by one of the greatest groups of all time. Their music will transcend time and generations. I hope my great, great, grandchildren listen to them.

    The Dark Side of the Moon was an immediate success, topping the Billboard 200 for one week. It subsequently remained in the charts for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988, longer than any other album in history. With an estimated 45 million copies sold, it is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums worldwide.

    I saw Pink Floyd live twice in the early 70's in Tucson, Arzona. First concert they played Meddle and the second one Dark Side of the Moon. I dropped acid both times and it was a GOD like experience. Pink Floyd was by far the best shows I have ever seen in my life, If you never took LSD and saw Pink Floyd all I can say is you MISSED IT. WOW!!!!!!

    A man's final descent into insanity. The whole album itself was posing the question "Can everyday life make you go insane?". The themes expressed in Time, Money, Us and Them, and so on all lead up to this when this normal person finally goes insane from his normal life. And for the record, I've never heard anywhere that DSotM was about Syd. Wish You Were Here was of course. All I've ever heard about this album is that the members of Pink Floyd wanted to know if everday life can make you go insane so they stopped people on the street and asked them questions, then they put them on the album. Trivia note: Paul and Linda McCartney were among those interviewed but they weren't put into the album because they thought that they sounded "too average".

    • @MrNocturnal310
      @MrNocturnal310 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Arturo Tablada Actually, the people interviewed were roadies and hangers on of the band. And I think Brain Damage was about Syd. "There's someone in my head, but it's not me." "And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon."

    I am 64 years old now and of course this music was from "my time" my 20's and you know I don't ever remember listening to pink floyd or maybe I just didn't know it was them. I saw this concert on PBS about a year ago and was just in awe. There was a story about the then lead singer and it was really sad to think that such a musical mind would disappear. I would have paid anything to have been live at this concert and I don't go to many concerts....disabled.

    this is NOT dance music, or love songs or anything that seems to make up so much popular music. it is the combination of incredible music with powerful lyrics that have numerous meanings. it is the combination of poetry and songs that need to be both listened to and contemplated.
    all that is now
    all that is gone
    and all that's to come
    and everything under the sun
    is in tune
    but the sun is eclipsed
    by the moon
