/ @ajrestoration Welcome to part 2 of the Honda G150 restoration!
This is a Honda G150 that I got from the metal recycling yard along with the Compressor head that I did recently. This engine took a real beating in its past life, Hopefully, I can save it and give it some more life. If not at least give it a beautiful funeral.
I hope you enjoy the video.

More info on the engine in general.
Japan’s economy rapidly expanded throughout the 1960s period of high economic growth. Development of the country’s domestic infrastructure saw steady growth, while people’s lifestyles also greatly improved. By the 1970s Honda was setting its sights on markets outside Japan.
Honda had been exporting its power products since 1963. However, it was now beginning to formulate plans for what it called a ‘Million-Seller Engine’ (ME) for the international general-purpose engine market, which then totaled around 10 million units. With an annual production output of about 200,000 units, Honda was now planning to achieve annual sales of a million or more.
At the time, American-made general-purpose engines accounted for approximately 80% of the global market. These engines took advantage of the merits of mass production to sell at low prices. Yet problems persisted in terms of durability and maintenance.
Then, in 1977, Honda released its G150/200 general-purpose engine, the first developed under the new ME concept. The G150/200 incorporated new materials and new designs. With features like an automatic shutoff function for when oil volume was too low, a maintenance-free CDI ignition, a decompression cam for easier starts, and a kill switch for quick stops in emergencies, this engine successfully overcame virtually all of the weak points that plagued mainstream engines.
The G150/200 soon won a highly favorable reputation throughout Southeast Asia, where it became known as the red-and-white engine that steadily sold even when not displayed in the storefront, and found use in a wide variety of applications, including as an outboard motor and for powering pumps.
The engines developed under the ME concept eventually became a full lineup, and finally achieved the goal of a million units in annual sales by 1982. While this was only a tenth of the global market, it successfully showed the world Honda’s superior technological capabilities and vision.
Next on the horizon for Honda were lawnmowers for the US market. First, local needs were thoroughly investigated with detailed field surveys. Technology teamed up with novel ideas to overcome problems and succeeded in creating a new line of high-quality products that offered excellent durability and ease of use. Honda’s hallmarks of quality were now extending to the United States.
Love when your restorationed engines start 😊
Me too hahahaha
OMG - Finally!! A gent that actually knows how to re-build a motor! 99% of You Tubers only disassembly the motors, repaint, and put back together. Brilliant restoration!
Very nice refurbishing project. Looks great and sound good as well. Thumbs Up!
You earned it, you re the best restorator i ve seen in ytb.
Awesome project dude, with a beautiful finish! Keep up the fantastic work! 🍻🤘💜
Thank you Andy! I appreciate the awesome comment!
Big difference between the before and after shots, its a wonderful restoration. I read through on your clip about these engines and just looking at it compared to B&S, BSA, Kohler etc, these engine exuberate quality and good design. Thanks for posting.
Great restoration job. The laser etched tag is a nice touch.😁👍
Extremely satisfying!
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota with 9 inches of fresh wet ass snow.

Nice restorasion. Very cool little motor. I do alot of gx 390 honda motors. Would love to get my hands on a g150. Thanks for a cool video.
Another outstanding effort!! I dare say, it is well above new in the showroom condition.
The gunk in the carb was brought there via the gasoline at some point. So gasoline maybe with a mix half and half with K-1 Kerosene would be the ideal solvent. The varnish is much more soluble in the kerrosene cut or the diesel cut, which is why we never see varnish in the diesel fed engines...
Отличный результат!)
Loved this restoration. Great job.
Loved every second. The engraving at the end is Fantastic :) wow
I love the engraving too! Its a fun little toy.
Best caution sticker ever on the fuel tank.
Great restoration
Then I finally found a guy who uses gloves when handling gasoline! 👏👏👏👍

Are those peacocks I hear in the back ground? They make best watch dogs ever they sound off at any intruder. My grand parents had one on the farm when I was young in the 60s
forgot the plate behind the flywheel, where the ignition coil is.. but looks good.
Nice
I like your jobb its grate.🙂👍🏻👍🏻🙂
Valeu meu querido! Ficou muito bom 👍
Maravilhoso !
спасибо за хорошее видео
That's alright. We don't need to see anything! LOL
that came out well.
Missed the piston and rings install
Goeie môre AJ jy verneuk my dit is n nuwe motor mooi dag vir jou
Haha baie dankie, die een het bai emooi uit gekom ek moet se
That carb looked rough at first I though that was carbon build up on the choke plate. Wasn't as bad as it looked when you started I though it was junk but it cleaned up great.
Outstanding restoration, I assume this will be used with the air compressor engine. I work in a tyre garage with electric air compressors which knock on and off, how does a petrol one work? Does it run constantly? Again brilliant job , really enjoyed the video's on this👍
Thank you, The gasoline engines have a valve that regulates the rpm of the engine when pressure is reached. Some of them kill the engine if the pressure is reached.
Tire....
''don't be stupit'' is that original sticker
Haha no, its a little something I made.
good job :)
Beautiful restoration. I also was wondering what do you do with these restored things after they are done?
How do you make those new engine tags? The engine model tag and the gas tag label? They're so nice
Porque você faz um vídeo e depois coloca partes que vai ser previsao para o proximo vídeo, faz a montagem do motor restaurado, tem que mostrar tudo
Wow daai engine gaan baie mooi lyk op my grassnyer.🤣🤣🤣
Haha ek sal hom vir jou leen wanneer ek kom kuier!
You as I are Fonda of those Hondas here in Putnam county ga (USA) I get ethanol free gas for $3.799.a gallon what's the price for your gas in south Africa. Glad to see you restored. That HONDA YEAH BUDDY 😎👍
Thank you! We pay about 1.26$ for 0,26 Gallons so that would be about 4 Dollars and 60 cents for 1 gallon of gas.
@@AJRestoration okay thanks for your reply on this matter young man 😎
You made it all pretty and it even runs too! I see AJ laser merch in the future maybe?
Just wondering, why an oil fill on both sides of that engine? I don't think I've seen one like that before.
First off thank you for joining the channel membership! I really appreciate it!. Thank you for the comment, the double oil fill is so the engine can fit a wider scope of applications. Some lawnmower chassis do not allow you to fill oil on the one side, so honda made a motor that has oil fills on both sides. That allows for better sales also. I have a few Briggs motors here with oil fills on both sides and I love it.
Hi your a good mechanic but why you didn't replace the Piston? I believe that was burned
Could not find spares.
👍
hey man where did you get all the new gaskets?
If I remember correctly, I made my own.
Really nice restoration - awesome looking engine! Out of curiosity, would you say the restored engine is close to it's original performance? I can imagine that's asking quite a lot - I don't know if the pistons can hold as much pressure as they did. Really great either way - the thing looks amazing! 👍
Thank you! If the rings would be replaced I think it would be as good as new.
@@AJRestoration I really appreciate your focus on functional and aesthetic restoration. Of course I'd love to see this engine back in fighting condition! 😃 But I know you have a lot on your plate!
Mate did you find this thing at the bottom of a lake?
Could just as well been at the bottom of the ocean haha
Hi, May I know where I can buy the carburetor valve float for this model EG1500 from. Thanks
No idea
Una pregunta cuál es la bomba de aceite de ese motor
La parte de ajuste del PMS y las levas no se ve como lo has realizado.
Nice Restoration Keep it UP
Curious where the decals came from? I have a g150 on an f400 honda tiller. Very nice work.
I took some samples from the internet and made my own in photoshop and had it printed in domed resin stickers by a local company.
@@AJRestoration they looked great. Thank you!
Are you going to use this to drive the pump for the compressor?
Yes, I have a few fittings on order, so when they arrive, I will make a build video where the two lost lovers meet again.
Nice restoration job do you sell these little engines or do you keep them
No I do not sell any of my restorations. I might make an exception to my members. but since shipping is such a headache I am not too sure.
It looked like a walmart shopper bought that new.
Thank you, it does look like new, I am really proud of this one.
Друг, помоги мне. Поставить цепь на honda g150. У меня в моторе цепь и звёзды, у тебя шестерни. Как цепь поставить скажи пожалуйста.
sounds like a bike?
