I visited from New Zealand and loved it! Gorgeous country, lovely kind people! And forgot to mention my eldest son fell in love with a Hungarian girl there who so very reluctantly left her family in Hungary to travel to New Zealand and stayed here to marry him and had two beautiful children. @Grinderman Hey troll friend! You think you are very smart and know everything, but the fact that you know nothing, but have a big mouth. Did any Hungarian hurt you? Have you ever been in Hungary? Do you know any real information about Hungary, or Hungarians? I guess no, but I tell you something. If you would smart enough you would check the information personaly before start telling stupid things. Is everything perfect here, no, we are far from that, but I'm proud that we have a government who wants to keep our identity, I'm proud that our country is safe and we and our kids, wives and daughters can walk safely everywhere in the country. I'm proud to be a Hungarian. We are not perfect, but who is. Is Hungarian government corrupt, which one is not? Do we want to keep our economy safe? Yes, is this a big problem? Do we want to keep our country safe? Yes, is this a big problem? That's the job of the government, that's why we elected them. All Europian counties should do the same and put their people on the first place. But money speaks, and the Europian government is selling out their owns. Who is corrupt? Ahh, in the western region it's called lobby, oh how much nicer, isn't it? Do we want to help people? Yes, but bring the solution there and not the problem here. Hungary should be excluded from the EU? No, why? Because we have a different oppinion? Is that forbidden in democracy? If EU wants to ban democracy from Hungary and from those countries who has different oppinions, those EU politians (not nations or countries) should exclude themselfs from EU, because that is dictatory! Think and do a research before you say stupid things!

If you look at most registers that record names in the western world, they will have surnames first as well, separated from the first name with a comma. So it is only logic, or common sense in other words.
The last name could also indicate status, what town your family was from, or what your family did for a living, like the name "Baker". So the last name had more importance in the old days.
I'm a programmer and Hungarian too. This logic depends on the "why" of the search. Because if we are looking in a place for someone, every Smith will be in the group of "Smith" because they are family and it's a bigger group than "Andrew" who is a person. If I create a class hierarchy, the "Smith" will be the parent if we are talking about home address for example as parent class of both. Just an idea. Probably that's why the original last names were homes or jobs: Andrew of York or Andrew the Smith. But in all cases the surname is a "unit" of people from origin.
You can't learn it by listening to Omega. Hungarian language has a complicated grammar, similar to finnish. And I think you come to Hungary and we ask something I bet you can't answer it so.
He means, the treaty teared a lot of families apart. Mothers, grandmothers from their children. A lot of Hungarian people stuck out of the new border, for example, the mans of Erdély. This thing were painful, not just because the lands they took from us. For me, its not too personal, all of my living family members was born after that, i don't need to travel trough the country to visit my grandparents, but some of us do that. U know, it something like the camps for the Jewish. Today's Jewish were never in the camps, but it still hurts them for some reason. Greetings from a Hungarian girl from Budapest. :)
Gábor V: Trianon was not a treaty, it was a inhuman, cruel dictate. It was the biggest mistake of the 20th century. Fully hungarian territories were given to alien countries. Villages, towns inhabited by 90% or even 100% hungarians. The hungarian delegation was even not allowed to get into the Trianon negotiations. The hungarian prime minister never signed. It was a full blackmailing. The neighboring countries wanted to annihilate Hungary, a 1000 year old country and steal all Hungary's lands. But it's 2018 now and we are still here, and going strong.
@Adrian NiKo it isn't true! Austria & Habsburgs started the war and Serbia as the terrorist was Serbian! Hungary wasn't free to decide as it was part of the union and wasn't free in politics with other countries! But even if there's is a war.... Are the winners entitled to do anything? It was an evil act of the west, divide and rule! Their aim was Hungary to be destroyed as it is the holy land of the holy crown! The Hungarian Holy Crown is the crown of people and the crown of peace...that's why Hungarians and other nations lived in peace together in the Carpatian basin fighting together for freedom! Trianon wanted to change this! But it is impossible! There are things like language, culture, music higher than this! Hungary and Hungarians will survive anything and will always win!

Yeah that’s correct, and our country has a lot of little secrets, that we hungarians don’t know! In the castles, palaces, and even on the streets! A little statue, a fountain, and even a single rock but it has a really big meaning. That’s what I talking about! If you dive into this theme, you can learn a lot

Greetings from a romanian living in Austria! I work with hungarians, and the colleague with whom I sahe my desk is a (half)hungarian. I like the language, even thou I can't speak or understand it, and I enjoy driving through Hungary on my way to Romania, more than I do driving in Romania.
Thank you for this amazing video, it was an exceptionally good warmup. If you write with a ballpoint pen, take vitamin C, use a computer, drive a car, own an electric motor, or a helicopter, or like the idea of an electric railroad, and I could continue for a long time... You can say thank you for the Hungarians. It could take you for a few weeks to research this, but Hungarians deserve it. Basically, most technical inventions had Hungarian help or inventors. Somehow everyone forgets what they have given to the world. For many world powers, it is very convenient to forget or negate Hungarian contributions. I would love you to research all the Hungarian inventions and help us celebrate true Hungarian history. Thank you for your consideration. I am an award-winning teacher with over 20 years experience and would love to help you with this project. Thanks again.
Attila, you should also do a bit more research and see how many of those inventors really were Hungarians and how many of them were from of another nationality and forced to present their patents as Hungarians. I know about many inventors from Slovakia who were just unlucky to live under cruel Hungary rule at the time.
I mean people with jewish ancestry = not ethnic hungarians. You know even black people can move to hungary and claim themselves as hungarian. But it is obvious that they came from africa and are africans, their ancestors didnt take part in hungarian history. So their capabilities and intelect was created somewhere else. Not in hungary and it isnt based on hungarian genes or education etc. Jews are not hungarians they have diferent genetics, culture and are highly inteligent ´´by nature´´ .
Hungary actually makes a lot better case for not being part of Eastern Europe. I wouldn't call it Central though, but just straight up Western. Unlike Slovakia, Poland and Czechia though which ehtnically and linguistically are similar to the rest of Eastern Europe. It's just a superiority complex these countries have so that they come up with an artificial term to "cut" ties with the bad rep Eastern Europe comes with. Just look how sensitive they get if they are referred to Eastern Europe. As if they are not slavs, not Christians, as if they were not behind the Iron Curtain, as if corruption is not very high (esp in Hungary and Slovakia). Nobody ever refers to Austria and Germany as Central European countries and Austrians/Germans themselves refer to Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia as Eastern Europe. Go figure.

I have yet to visit Hungary, but it is literally the land of my father. He was born near Budapest and came to USA after the failed October Revolution of 1956. My father returned for a visit about 8 years before he died, and I'm so glad he did. I now have tons of photos of my father visiting family I've never met in his homeland. So while I am a first generation American, I am also a proud Hungarian expat.

Read once Hungary was connected to legend of Atlantis …was why Hungary does so well in Olympics swimming.
I will support Hungary and its people in my own small way by taking my summer holiday there , I hope to learn about their culture and show my solidarity with their government and meet as many Magnificent Magyars as I can . Well done Mr Orban and love to Hungary from the once Great Britain !!
You definitely should mention about Polish brotherhood with Hungary- if You want it to be so informative! Coz love, that my country shares with Hungary is one of a kind in history of the World! And people should know that! I'm sending BIG HUGS from Poland and wish all Magyars prosperity and God's blessing! ❤️
Addendum to the reverse order of names - we also write the name of the town/city/village first, the street name next and the number of the house last. The logic is : you approach from the most general to the particular. If you see 45 first, you are a bit stuck but if you see Tokaj first, you are directed to the right area straightaway. Just like with names, you can have numberless people called István (Stephen) but if you read the surname first, you are already closer to finding the person. So who does it in reverse order? ;o)
Exactly. And to further prove our point, when ordinary Firstname Lastname using countries make official lists, for alphabetical order they are using Lastname comma Firstname. So we just use that method natively.
I'm from hungary, and what I really love in the language is the swearing. You can swear for five minutes and you don't repeat yourself. It's perfect. 👌👌👌👌
The fun fact about Hungarian language is indeed the swearing. It's something like this: Verb + an infinit number of adjectives + object + (and optionally a "bazmeg" at the end. 😂

You LIKE the fact? Wouldn't be something like this something negative, something you wouldn't like? And if you didn't knew any of this stuff maybe you should listen to the teachers during class instead of watching youtube videos (actually most of the things are common knowledge for a hungarian, you do not learn in school how you write your name or what the currency is -- the only thing kinda new for me is what we import/export, but I am pretty sure you learn that in geography class).

Funny mispronounciations aside, this was a surprisingly high quality, well researched and well balanced presentation about Hungary coming from an outsider, originating from a far-away, overseas country. It makes me double proud of the young Canadian presenter, because I am a naturalized Canadian citizen of Hungarian origin. A little trivia which ties our two countries together, that Canada was the one and only country in the World, who in response to the 1956-57 refugee crisis following the beaten Hungarian Revolution, pledged the acceptance of unlimited Hungarian refugees. Characteristically, that noble declaration came quite early, in 1956 November, just days after the Soviet military intervention crushed the uprising. That contrasts well and rather sharply not only to some smaller European countries, where the pledges came later, somewhat hesitantly, with partly understandable number limitations attached to it, but even to the US, who also had (and still has) vast thinly populated lands, just like Canada, yet it limited the refugees' number to six thousand and five-hundred. An auxiliary note however, that after some vacillation, the initial US limit was revised upward. Still, I believe that a difference existed then, the same way, as it exists now. Long live a prosperous, independent Canada, as well as a prosperous independent Hungary! Long live their tried and true friendship!
I'm not sure Pityu, that you are serious, or just made a light hearted joke, but regardless of the intention, sweeping statements like that tend to bring-up fierce counter-arguments, rivalry and negative sentiments in return. I don't think it's advisable to anyone concerned, to evoke those sentiments .
I hope Canada is still friendly towards Hungary. Here in Europe things has started to change in the past 10 years rapidly. Many friends of mine lived in Vancouver but came back here to teach in Universities of Veszprém. Many Canadians I met in UK, I can tell you I love their mentality and their free speach. Greatings from Budapest.
Csucsuka Gabriella Harcsa I used to be proud to be half Hungarian, and I used to take advantage of the fact in order to gain quick acceptance among 'full-blooded' Hungarians. But modern DNA analysis tends to mock at traditional concepts of 'blood', doesn't it? Also I realized that Magyars, though persecuted by stronger nations (Russia being the prime example), have also persecuted minorities living among them, sometimes ruthlessly. As the Bible says, 'FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.' No nation's hands are clean. So I have lost most of my 'pride', and feel none the worse for that. There is a greater citizenship to which God calls those who believe in His Son: (Galatians 3:28) 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.'
In hungarian this is a grammatically correct sentence: Te tetted e tettetett tettet, te tettetett tettek tettese. Funny, ain't it? Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages on Earth.

Technically, it is better to say "family" name and "forename" instead of first name and last name. And it is not written backwards but in a reversed order. For better understanding, we call it as "keresztnév", where "kereszt" is referring to "keresztelő", the christening process. "Családnév" is also simple, where "család" means "family". About the numbers. Based on the official report of KSH (Központi Statisztikai Hivatal, Hungarian Central Statistical Office), the export surplus is 9.9 billion euros (2016). The biggest part of the export is "machinery and transport equipment" with over 57% share of the whole export (other mentionable are food products and tobacco with 7,1% and processed products with 31.2%). It is interesting to mention that the highest value of export is cars, yet the highest value of import are car parts and accessories. The reason: we have many car manufacturing plants: Audi (Győr), Mercedes-Benz (Kecskemét), Suzuki (Esztergom) and Opel (Szentgotthárd). There are also dozens of huge companies supplying products for car manufacturers (Bosch, Continental, Denso, ZF). And we have one of the biggest R&D center for Kuka Robotics. Fun fact: we call the trashbin as "kuka" as well the garbage truck as "kukás autó", just after the well known Kuka A.G. (nowadays one of the leader robot manufacturer). Other topics to google: -- pálinka, -- hungarian language (origins, connections), -- hungarian cuisine, -- "sárga csekk", ask google, or me... ;-), -- inventions (ballpoint pen, rubik's cube and many others).

That's good idea. Our language is so unique. People often ask me if it's similar to English or German, and i proudly say that NO. Nobody else speaks it, only Hungarians. Also our holiday traditions are different,. Think about Easter Monday when the boys go out to "water"(locsolni) the girls! We also celebrate Christmas for 2 days! So please consider these ideas! @Bingo Duff this isn't true! Transylvania was established when Suleiman invaded Hungary and one part of it became part of the ottoman empire... Hungarians were undecided about the next king... west hungarians wanted a habsburg as they hoped to get support from west against turks...easterns wanted Szapolyai János from Erdély who went for help to Suleiman...so Suleiman gave Transylvania to Szapolyai as gift as the Sultan wanted Buda and Wien to be occupied ! So Hungary became scattered into 3 parts! No one helped to stop the Turks! And after Hungarians saved Eger and other majpr cities the whole Hungarian Kingdom became part of the Habsburg Empire! That was the reason of the independence war in 1848/49 and later a passive resistance led by Deák so the Austro- Hungarian Monarchy was established as a result of it and Hungary got freedoms , but it was just a partly freedom. Transylvania was part of Hungarian Kingdom with Hungarian cities and citizens who are still speaking Hungarians far away as Csángó-s ! In the Chausesque era Hungarian villages were destroyed and Hungarians were persecuted for speaking Hungarian...etc!

WHY???our country is retarded

8:49 With my (Hungarian) logic, when you born you already have your family name.Your given name just after.
Veres Tamás
excatly
I'm a programmer and Hungarian too. This logic depends on the "why" of the search. Because if we are looking in a place for someone, every Smith will be in the group of "Smith" because they are family and it's a bigger group than "Andrew" who is a person. If I create a class hierarchy, the "Smith" will be the parent if we are talking about home address for example as parent class of both. Just an idea. Probably that's why the original last names were homes or jobs: Andrew of York or Andrew the Smith. But in all cases the surname is a "unit" of people from origin.
I think that goes for all Uralic countries. I mean Hungarians mainly but it isn't uncommon in Estonia and Finland I believe.

Thank you that you talked about the Treaty of Trianon and its effects. I think it mean a lot for us. 🇭🇺
@Adrian NiKo because it is a painful and tragical part of our history. have you ever seen this video?
You aren't right, even is you shout.
It's great to be hungarian 😀

Thanks again.
and matches !
Attila, you should also do a bit more research and see how many of those inventors really were Hungarians and how many of them were from of another nationality and forced to present their patents as Hungarians. I know about many inventors from Slovakia who were just unlucky to live under cruel Hungary rule at the time.
Most of them were jews... i dont like that fact but its true..

Finally, someone who said central Europe but not Eastern. I am not even Hungarian.
Go figure.

So who does it in reverse order? ;o)
Same with dates. We use YYYY.MM.DD
Exactly. And to further prove our point, when ordinary Firstname Lastname using countries make official lists, for alphabetical order they are using Lastname comma Firstname. So we just use that method natively.
Not so with names like kovács úr-mr smith

I like the fact that I learn more about my own home country in a random youtube video, than in school...
FTD Facts this is so true, and your video refers not to a typical touristic aspect but to modern, informative and research based motives that make me stick to the screen than read all the comments. You are a forward thinker I love this aspect yes talk about money and economy, tastes and lands and history from everywhere on this planet, thank you for that, all my respect 🎩 and I love ❤️Canada
I know right? XD
Akkor esetleg jobban kéne figyelni hogy mit magyaráz a tanár.

Not really. Most of central Europe and all east is similar. Its only some western European countries who are giving their freedom and country away.

♥♥♥
If it wasn't for the arrival of Hungarian refugees in '56-57, there would be no decent coffee in Montreal.
Hungary and Canada are nothing alike today.
Im proud that im hungarian😍🤞

I used to be proud to be half Hungarian, and I used to take advantage of the fact in order to gain quick acceptance among 'full-blooded' Hungarians.
There is a greater citizenship to which God calls those who believe in His Son:
(Galatians 3:28) 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.'
In hungarian this is a grammatically correct sentence:
Te tetted e tettetett tettet, te tettetett tettek tettese.
Funny, ain't it? Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages on Earth.
But we are not use it in real life that's just like in drama you know ...
“Karinthy Ferenc: Napló
1970. február 23.
‘A rádióban, állítólag, a következő párbeszéd hangzott el két ifjú technikus közt egy lányról.
- Baszod?
- Baszni basznám, baszod, de baszik baszni, baszd meg!'”
Elképesztő, én is magyar vagyok, de ezeket sose hallottam.
Approximate translation: Did you do this pretended deed, you culprit of pretended deeds?
Na meg a jó kis eszperente :)

Greetings & love from a 65 yr old Hungarian gal loving in Melbourne Australia ~ Oz affectionately known 😁 Mum was literally on the precipitation of giving birth to yours truly but i just made it here! Australian citizen 🎯
My father instilled the pride, respect, love, music, food & cultural differences with a Bang!! He ultimately bevams a high school biology teacher & would give these once in a lifetime ( for most) huge incredible parties! He brewed his own plum bea dy from the Blood plums which grew in our backwards! Over an open fire in the big BBQ it was simply magic!! Beautiful powerful emotion packed memory! 🌼
Ok, enough waffling my dear, all the best! Juliet 🪬🌹🌿🫂💛
Other topics to google:

They say California's vineyards has been created by Hungarian emigrants who had brought grape plants from Hungary from Tokaj.
If true, that’s amazing!! I’ve never heard about that before.

A proud Hungarian that lives in California. It warms my heart to read all of the support from our surrounding neighbors. May God bless each and every one of you 🙏❤
I really liked your video :) There are many things you could talk about in part 2, such as traditions (Easter, Christmas, etc), food, language, inventions. We are kind of different from other European Nations, so these topics could be interesting for people outside of Hungary.
That's good idea. Our language is so unique. People often ask me if it's similar to English or German, and i proudly say that NO. Nobody else speaks it, only Hungarians. Also our holiday traditions are different,. Think about Easter Monday when the boys go out to "water"(locsolni)
the girls! We also celebrate Christmas for 2 days! So please consider these ideas! Thanks.

@@deusvult3103 I'm astonished again and again what bottomless braindead bitchass idiots romp around in the comments here!
Don t forget transylvania cuz the romanians steald it from hungary
Greetings from America to the Hungarian people. You have a very beautiful country and people. Very picturesque and your architecture is wonderful. God bless you!
