Definitely has some improvements over the original 0079, yet unlike it, I somehow still can't bring myself watch past the first dozen of Zeta episodes....

@@HeadCannonPrime MMmm, don't really agree with Zeta relegated to A/B, don't think it is a much worse offender than MSG and should alteast be a solid A. It showed higher ups on both sides where pretty morally grey: Anaheim was doing a pretty interesting double game all around this story, even though people like Wong had the right idea, they where practicing Realpolitik to it's fullest extend. The good guys where mostly the low life pilots, everyone higher up was in on the game, if they wanted it or not (like Char, he had to carry out AEUG / Anaheim policy, even though he knew Zeon Axis was a dangerous bedfellow).
Do agree with Stardust anyway. It is THE DIE HARD of the Gundam series. Super entertaining, awesome to watch, but it is slock, it knows it is and it fully embraces it. Come on, learning to eat carrots is not a character arc. Would have placed UC at A/B in my opinion. It's ending was the low point of the series, but we had some great high-points along the way... and so much Nostalgia porn... so much!

Hell yeah! Thunderbolt is underrated! Most of your choices i disagree with however. Zeta gundam was magnificent and the origibal gundam didnt exactly age well. Also you are brave for your 8th ms team placement.

I really liked Unicorn Gundam's digging into the heart of the UC series story and showing us how the whole EFSF corruption thing started, more observations of the human condition and other philosophies, why colonizing space didn't go as well as many thought it would, and its explaining of how Newtypes fit into all of it.
But I definitely agree the Newtype powers, aka shenanigans, thing went way overboard. If the Newtype powers thing was toned down, I'd say it deserved A or A/B at least

It’s a disgrace, it doesn’t deserve recognition.
At least the newtype antics of unicorn actually work since most of the machines used by the main characters were built with psycho frames (which boost the power of newtypes)

Solid SS tier for me. Easily the best Gundam OVA, if not the best Gundam animated work period.
I just now finished this series and Jesus it's dark. War from the perspective of a kid was just hard to watch at times. The way that the kids would be ignorant or insensitive to war because it doesn't affect them directly, despite all that goes on behind the scenes. We know what went on and seeing the contrast of beliefs between Al and the others really struck a chord with me.

SOOOO TRUE gundam thunderbolt was AMAZING, it was gritty, brutal as hell, the action was fast paced but amazing, the animation was stellar, the mobile suit designs while a lot of them are just copy and paste like the zaku 1,2 dom, gun cannons, and gms but with a splash of uniqueness like the extras thrusters and guns, others like the full armor gundam and the psycho zaku are my favorite mobile suits in the factions, music is amazing like the free jazz, the quality like the animation and graphics of the show is great, the story is brutal and merciless, I’m serious every MAJOR character almost DIES at some point in the show,the characters in gundam thunderbolt are complex but enjoyable at best, Io Fleming and Daryl Lorenz are my favorite characters in the GUNDAM FRANCHISE, and the themes of gundam thunderbolt are a masterpiece, the themes of the inhumanity, brutality, and madness of war is HAUNTING and disturbing like Daryl practically OFFERED himself to the psycho zaku and it’s terrifying, and Io is great. It SUCKS that gundam thunderbolt is not very well known in the anime community and here in the west, I hope that gundam thunderbolt is cherished with others like iron blooded orphans

I really liked Victory Gundam. A minor shame that Tomino was forced to include weird enemy units so that Bandai could sell toys but the premise is sound.
Former or retired Anaheim engineers running underground factories for the League Militaire yields a mass-produced Gundam. Building the model is like getting a 3 for 1 deal because of core fighter modes.
V2 and V-Dash are among the most advanced and modern mobile suits of the UC timeline.
I actually like the ‘newtype stuff’, since it is a sci-fi anime. Not when it gets ridiculous but the concept and basic idea is cool to me, kinda like pilot force sensitives
Video series idea!
Design or talk about how you would design an MS for various levels.
- Ace level unit, could be a main character MS or one of the various aces encountered like Black Tri-Stars or Char level
- Commander level unit, MS for someone like Lt Berning from Stardust
- Special forces, something like Unicorn introduced
- Grunt, your ideal basic tier MS
The Origin, Unicorn, and 08th are S Tier for me. When "Beginning" played in Unicorn when they were revisiting important UC events, I almost cried.
I'm also probably the only person on earth that actually preferred ZZ over Zeta, so...
After having mostly been in AU gundam, I finally started marathoning UC gundam in order to watch Narrative, and after the first...10 or so episodes of craziness, I actually liked ZZ more more than Zeta.
ZZ is just...incredibly jarring when watching the first half considering how Zeta ended. Some of the comedy is odd since you know characters can and still die even after comedic situations. Unlike the antics of Boss from Mazinger series. We still get to see best girl so that's pretty cool.
It depends if I ever watched both of them.
Finally a tier list that I'm interested in.
like what I've thought, Gundam Franchise is very successful because most of it's series is good, even Great. so I definitely agree with your list there.
only one thing bugged me that G reco considered as UC while Turn A is actually more deserve that place.

Please do one with the other timelines!!!, I’d rank Unicorn and Zeta on S tier and for G reco, F91 and victory I haven’t seen them yet but I’m really looking forward to it!
I feel he should have split the movies and series for original and z. Zeta movies S for sure series I can see why some would say b to a in regards to length and pacing.

@@leo11lim it’s canon whether you like it or not. And it’s not as big as a mess as you make it seem like. The biggest problem is that it was a 50 episode story condensed into 26. If they would have fleshed it out into 50 episodes instead of running that build Gundam garbage along side it G-Reco would have been fleshed out better.

Im one of the few that is enjoying ZZ if you come in knowing what the beginning is like its way more enjoyable. Alot of the comedy bits are the same in future gundam series that played well with fans I think its just jarring for people who watched Z and went into ZZ expecting the continued darkness which I found overbearing at times in Z and its what felt like shoved in storylines that didnt need to be in there like the other two love story other than Four and Kamille.
Honestly, I found the comedic switch kinda refreshing. Honestly, even though Judau was a pain in the ass, I like to think that Bright would rather be pelted by oranges than deal with the Gryps Conflicts again.
08ms is easily my favorite, its gritty and awesome

If you liked Unicorn, then you'll like Narrative. I'm not the biggest fan of unicorn, but I think it was better than Narrative because it had more time to tell its story. Narrative feels like it's an epilogue to Unicorn. There's a fair amount of Zeta Gundam cameos, which was nice.
@@ECOKAI I love unicorn, but NT is pretty bad imo. It's short, but tried to put too much character. The worst part about NT is the main antagonist. The design is pretty bad and he got no character, just a mad clone parroting Char

I’ve seen a number of these, and the one that got me into Gundam was The 08th MS Team, absolutely love that series. Other personal favorite for me was The Origin, Char is my favorite character from the lore, and learning about his background was a treat for me, but I did have some issues with some elements of it.
Anyone who loves the 08th MS Team is an awesome person with great judgements.
People’s biggest complaints is that it changes directors halfway through but I really don’t see how the series goes in a different direction except for the final terrible episode.

I'll be honest. I watched F91 for the first time the other day and found it enjoyable. But yeah it should of been a series. It's just so rushed that it ruins it. Would of been a solid B if it had it's own proper series that let everything build up.
I was kinda mad was f91 was rank so low.

Conversely, I would've put it at E Tier. The music is its only redeeming value, IMO. And even that's played out at this point.

I would swap f91 and ms igloo and would put origin on S tier if only because of all the amazing origin kits.
And if it weren't for the movies, Mobile Suit Gundam tv series is a B tier series, as the end was kinda rushed which makes sense as the series was cut short.

My biggest problem with Thunderbolt is that the second season started getting cheaper in the animation department. It all started to get chunky in some places. But, it also gave us those adorable little Acguys.

In my opinion, Unicorn was a A/S tier series until episode 6 or 7. I don’t really know how I feel about the ending. Overall B tier sounds about right.
Yeah I agree, the show was amazing, UP UNTIL 6 AND 7, the pilot of banshee norn in my opinion was absolutely butchered in my opinion as he became a raging and clingy dude with zabi, and the ending was garbage in my opinion, the whole thing about the gundam and neo zeog going to before the BIG BANG was a complete ass pull, overall a damn good show until the final episodes, other than that great show

How do you rate the zeta movie remakes?
I'd say between C and D. The new animation is nice but it clashes with a majority of the footage. And they cut out way too much of the Z Gundam story.
Going to say something controversial but G Reco is a solid b-c just due to animation and how different it feels. Very hard to follow but I didn’t feel it was a bad watch just kinda ok kinda like how I felt about IBO.
The animation is quite good, but I hated the main character's moral righteousness towards the Capital forces while giving a pass to the Amerian forces. Both of these forces are doing bad things, but to keep him with the pirates he turns a blind eye to their actions.
I'm glad it has it's fans though. There are a few mobile suit designs in it that are great.

The great thing about a personal list is that it is supposed to be personal! I absolutely enjoy seeing agreements with some series and it intrigues me to see the ones I don't agree with. Gundam is such a big franchise, it's been through highs and lows, but it's still something we all love about mechas!
Also my personal favorites (they're not on the list because they're spinoffs) has to be We're Federation Hooligans and Mobile Suit Gundam-san!
I didn't realize we shared a brain, but I'm certainly not upset by this fact! I feel like this is a really great and factually accurate guide for someone just getting into Gundam.

Funny how I love the UC timeline yet I only watched Gundam Unicorn when it was airing on Toonami. It still remains my favorite Gundam series only because the mech designs are the best I've seen, and the fights are awesome

That actually makes me curious, is G Reco good? The MS designs look good (especially the main gundam getting one of my favorite designs) and I was curious in knowing if the show is worth watching, especially since I have time to kill during summer vacation

Turn A is set at least 3,000 years after the Black History, which was an indeterminate amount of time after UC ended (as it supposedly encompasses all AU timelines up until then too). Tomino only said G Reco came after Turn A because he's senile.
@@greninjazac4577 It may not be for everyone but I love it. Same old Tomino writing (flaws and all, the pacing especially isn't helped by the shorter series length), but it has some of the best designs in any Gundam series, and the best ED ever fight me. You will probably need to find the faction chart, because the fact that there's some minor backstory stuff that the characters don't really mention plus the occasional namedrops of places that don't really matter but are apparently major tends to set people off.
Basically if you've seen Overman King Gainer and liked it it'll be for you as it's basically Gainer but actually Gundam. And if you haven't seen Overman King Gainer for the love of god watch it it's so fun.

I agree with most of this list, specifically on 0083 - the only real problem was the protagonist, but Gato is awesome! Also this list has convinced me to give Gundam unicorn a try cheers!

I started watching the UC series with Gundam Unicorn then I viewed Gundam, Zeta, and CCA to understand more of the UC timeline. Once UC is clear to me, I decided to re-watch Gundam Unicorn and I liked it better. For me, Unicorn started out as B-tier but now I'm ranking it in A-tier
I will say one positive thing about G-Savior, the design of the suit and its changing gear packs. That is all that I can say about it.

Yeah, spoilers: They're all F-tier except GM Custom.
GM sniper 2 was better than the original Gundam. The pilots were trash however and that is why you see them all get wrecked in war in the pocket
@Aiden Ly if you look at the specs then you will see that it is Superior in every way. If the Gundam wasn't the most identifiable mobile suit for the main character then they would have given him a GM Sniper 2

Thunderbolt, The Origin, and Stardust Memory will always be my three favorite Gundam series!
Just one thing about F91--it's actually not a cut series, but it's actually been revealed it's a failed pilot for a "TNG" style Gundam series. However, it went nowhere, especially since 0083 proved to be far more popular when it released at the same time.
0079 and Zeta Gundam are in the S tier imo

Yeah it seems we agree on the on many things here. I hope more series go with the Thunderbolt style animation. The artists really brought out the emotion in people. I love the super gritty Gundam series the most. The 08th MS Team is still a top tier show for me.

I'm somehow curious to see if Sunrise would consider making an actual updated series for F91 to show us what it could have been with the time and budget and paced out properly in the format it was meant to be in... though i guess for the most part most of the major plotpoints would have been predictable, but its worth a gander i guess haha
I actually own G Saviour and I think the concept of that Gundam gave rise to the Seed shows Strike with the different types of armor configurations that it used. Oh yeah, story's was totally a B type list that you find on Syfy channel but I do like.

I also gave it a shot cause I can't believe fans saying its confusing. And damn right they are. I even forgot what they are fighting for in the middle of the series. And that anticlimactic battle in the end, feels like they are just playing. They just suddenly stop the fight and go home and at peace? What?
I consider g reco non canon or take place after the Zeta movie since Tomoko change the ending.
