"RX-78-H2O" had me laughing for five minutes
what about the FA-78-3 Full Armor 7th Gundam?
U.C. FA Creator: Gah! Nothing's working out perfectly! So many issues!
Thunderbolt FA Creator: I want THIS and THIS and THIS!
Not enuf dakka! Put every sht on the rx78-2 now!
MORE thrusters!
MORE missiles!
And put a BEAM CANNON on it!
I WANT FOUR SHIELDS!! AND SPAM BEAM CANNONS, AND ADD MISSILES!!
HAVE BEAM WILL CANNON!
In space, no one can hear the engineers scream 😔
You mention the beam rifles "teething problems".
Reminded me of a conversation I had with an old Wing King (Who strangely enough is still in uniform two decades later). "It's either new enough that they haven't worked out all the kinks, or everything is finally perfectly designed and the whole damn thing is useless and obsolete."
Wise man.
I feel that this idiom holds true for anything being described as a "superweapon" especially. Submarine-launched torpedoes had major teething issues, self-loading rifles had major teething issues lasting decades, jets had major teething issues, A2A missiles practically started out as mass-produced prototypes so they had tons of issues, etc. etc.
Edit: And that definitely fits with the beam rifle paradigm. The Federation at first demanded a weapon capable of downing space battleships but in a mobile suit sized package, and capable of firing multiple times before rearmament was required. They truly wanted the moon and the sky on a silver platter...for their first ever handheld mobile suit weapon. During a survival war that they were currently losing. Absolutely mad lol, of course the beam rifle project was going to have issues, resulting in the Spray Gun and that awful (but reliable) ballistic machine gun being mass-produced instead.
Full armor gundam is basically the big gun doctrine but on a mobile suit
The best kind of doctrine
Haha, pretty outdated though, just look at what happened to the Magellan😂
Everytime we get a new development history on federation suits
The more we inch towards the GM Development history video.
My headcanon on the thunderbolt Gundam and why it much better than the others full armor Gundam is that in the manga the Moore Brotherhood made multiple huge donations/bribes to the federation to get an custom order Gundam.
It's honestly a lot simpler: Thunderbolt just takes place in an alternate universe with different technology. Easy peasy.
@@Alfanumericablate answer is even simpler author did not watch entire anime only excerpts and did not read msv's judging by his interviews.
Also it's a space only Gundam, so gravity and air resistance and shit is a non issue
It's just a bunch of extra bits and trusters slapped onto an otherwise normal RX-78-2
Strip off the armor and backpack and it's just a Gundam
I know we’re talking mostly about the MSV version…but i cannot not think about that funky freeform jazz.
"The difference is night and day, so this…is a Gundam!"
Cue devious smirk.
GUNDAM, YOUVE GOT ME ADDICTED lol
I would still be screaming about how badly we need a Gundam game that lets you really go off like the FA does in Thunderbolt, but Armored Core 6 finally came out and you can basically build the FA, soo lol
It fits perfectly within the scope of Feddie arrogance doesn't it? Boldly lazy and unimaginative. As few Fs given as possible to probably get the job done.
I honestly love the idea of slapping armor and thrusters on a mobile suit and call it a day
I'd try to cut corners on the price and pocket
"... while others felt like the ideas of a toy company."
Oh yeah. Who would come up with such absurd concepts indeed?
*Cough* Totally not Bandai! *Cough!*
*Cough Cough* Perfect Gundam. *Cough Cough*

03:20 Glad to see that thermos is Lacus-proof
Lacus trying not to steal a brand new, state of the art death machine for her boyfriend (impossible)
One of my favorite archetypes of RX-78 especially the Thunderbolt Version
3:07 "It will keep cold things cold and warm things warm for up to 24 hours." After that it can keep cold things warm and warm things cold indefinitely.
Excellent work! Fantastic video! However, there is something cool you should have mentioned about the Full Armor System.
In “Gundam Walpurgis” and in “Gundam F90FF” we see that the Full Armor equipment can be also mounted to GM’s and GM III’s.
The TRX-007 Delphinium uses a Modifed GM for its core unit. One that has been outfitted with a full armor Gundam’s gear + the Gundam Alex’s face mask (the mask that appears on the recent MG).
Plus, in F90FF, there is a group of mercenaries that use customized GM III’s that also use the full armor Gundam’s gear.
1:27 I know Thunderbolt UC isn't Canon with the Actual UC but you could BS an excuse that 'Oh the Thunderbolt Full Armor Gundam was the Realization of the Original Plan before it was sent somewhere else when the Federation realized that Newtypes exist. And the OTHER Full Armor Gundam was made from that.
Honestly they could have just called it the Thunderbolt Gundam and said it was a commission for the Moore Brotherhood and it'd be fine
@@KillerOrcaThe OVA material book actually provides an explanation for the FA-78(TB version).
It pretty much says that it was a part of the FA project, and reference the OG one from MSV. The FA from Thunderbolt was just another specification that was testing out different equipment, trying to figure out a solution to the project since it was having problems.
Originally, the anime adaptation was meant to be half canon/half parallel story, because Sunrise did make some small changes so that I can fit the main canon. But that view isn’t very clear anymore since Sunrise has been jumping back and forward on its stance on canon.
The last two timeline updates that Sunrise put out have Thunderbolt as canon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it changes again in the future.
@@NeedSitRep So that's what's going on
One thing I've always wanted to see is the FA Gundam's "failure" worked into active fiction, such as Amuro being sent into battle with the FA parts slapped onto the Gundam after being "approved" by test pilots who only had tank experience as opposed to MS exprience, with Amuro's agility-oriented piloting being more hampered by the FA configuration than anything and being forced to jettison it just to survive. I don't know, thoughts.
I really, really hope that the next part will cover the RGM-86RF•FA GM III Powered Full Armor (Bulldog), even just a smidge, since it's effectively the actual implementation of the FA-78-1...
I find it funny that SEED's own version of the Full Armor Gundam actually functioned unlike Amuro's and still exists in Freedom.
Not just that
Even Junk Guild go into Full armor once in form of MARS JACKET
Are you referring to that armor on the duel gundam
@@kokylee8098 Yeah, it doesn't have the iconic Dual Barrel Shield the Full Armor has, but it does have its other components.
@MasakiHana although it's armaments are lighter that the fa gundam and there's no twin beam gun
Could’ve mentioned the Heavy Gundam I feel, it’s essentially the most successful design to have come out of the FSWS project, with three confirmed produced units. The Feddies realised that most plans of adding additional armour to a pre-existing suit (rx-78-2) were all but feasible, and that making an armoured unit _with_ the desired firepower from the ground up was the way to go.
Loved it’s appearance in RoJR, with Ingrid 0 piloting it.
Semi related: The Double Beam Rifle mounted on the arm of the GM Dominance and (sometimes) the Blue Destiny Unit 3 is almost the exact same as the Full Armor RX-78’s, sans the scope and with slight design variation. This is never acknowledged, but I feel like it is definitely intentional.
So there's a funny thing, the whole reason I love the Full Armor system is because of the first viz release of Gundam The Origin, the Gundam Battle Assault, and the lack of Wikipedia like sites in the early 2000s.
I wanted to learn more about the RX-78-1 and it's giant shoulder Cannon that was in the first volume of the Origin manga. I look online, Wikipedia didn't exist yet and either MAHQ didn't have info about The Origin at the time or I was just too dumb to find it, but the only RX-78-1 I could find was the black anime version which lacked a shoulder cannon. The only 78-1 I could find with a shoulder cannon was the Full Armor Gundam. This got me to remember the "Full Armor Double Zet Gundam" from Gundam Battle Assault, which was the only suit I could actually beat the game with at the time. Next thing I know I'm buying a model kit for the Alex because it had an Armored mode and I'm getting disappointed that Gundam Crossfire and the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games never had a Full Armor suit in them (not counting the temporary magic Armor mode the Knight Gundam had in Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3).
5:47 My guess is that it's basically somewhere between regular armour and Luna Titanium in terms of strength.
Funny
For an 00 hg dynames custom I was planning on taking the virtue bazooka and legos and making it into a removable “burst liner”-esque platform
One interesting thing about The Origin is that there appears to be a sort of Full Armor-adjacent GM variant that appears in the background at A Baoa Qu. There's a picture of it on the wiki page for the Origin GM, it doesn't have a name or a description listed but we can see that it has the trademark double beam rifle along with extra leg thrusters, missile pods (almost the same as the ones used by the Doan's Island GM) and some kind of weapon on the left forearm that could either be a beam saber, a large vulcan or a small beam gun like the one found on the MP Nu Gundam. Pretty cool GM which I hope gets more attention in the future!
1:05 It makes sense that the FA Gundam was already an idea during development. It's basically combinig the concepts of the Gundam and Guncannon.
By that logic then RX-78-6 Mudrock is a Full Armor 😂😂😂
Unfortunately the unit didn't survive the war 😅
And thus the Mudrock was born
It's funny you mention that as this design of a bulkier Gundam reminds me of the Mudrock.
3:49 The fourth wall is starting to perspire profusely for some reason.
I believe the full armor gundam was a separate variation rather than borrowing directly from the RX-78 model. The core block system could be a non combat type only meant to separate the torso and the legs for maintenance and not for combat like the OG model. Theres no way to separate the full armor parts outside of a hanger or a maintenance bay.
I actually agree with that, because that's essentially what the Heavy Gundam is. So maybe the Full Armor Gundam was actually a spare body non combat type that they made and immediately realized the flaws. So instead of fully scrapping it for spare parts they used it for maintenance then got the bright idea to try taking the Core Block System out. A lot of R&D and completely replacing all the parts of the Gundam that would be underneath and that created the Heavy Gundam Unit 1-3, 8 Months too late to be used.
can you do a development history of the Zeta gundam
It is forever a shame that we never got the Full Armor GM.
I love that my favorite prototype mobile suit from Gundam Thunderbolt the RX-77-4BG Bull-G is also equipped with a twin beam rifle.
My favorite full armor gundam
There is a chance, very slim but it is there, that the "NewType Corps" with Full Armor Gundams might have been the Unit in 0081 with FA 78 3 Full Armor 7th Gundams, since that is basically what many describe. Though it is difficult to completely believe this since, side by side, it would be pretty hard to confuse the FA 78 1 with the FA 78 3.
The other FA 78 "1s" (303 and 400) could have been later used for the Mudrock, Solomon express (as a concept but rejected as we know it) or even some concept borrowed for the Gundam Alex Full Armor (if it was built).
Oh! Guess we're talking about Schrödinger's Gundam today. Nice!
Real cool history lesson, dude, but because of you, I'm gonna be buying gundam merch, so thanks alot for that
Alright, Full Armor Gundam! Thanks!
17 people arrived in this video within the first minute.
I so love the approach you take to these videos. There's a real sense of immersion in how you treat it like a history documentary.
I think next video you should make GM to GM III development history (especially the Full Armor GM III)
Both options for what the FSWS abbreviation could stand for are bad.
It should just be "Full armor Suit and Weapon System." That just works better for me.
Been looking for this one! Hell yeah brother
Really enjoy these videos lol, since a lot of work goes into it. Keep it up.
I actually appreciated this ad. thanks for doing ads that your community would want.
There's also the version of the Full Armor Gundam that appeared in Kazuhisa Kondo's Gundam 0079 manga. It was equipped on Amuro's RX-78-2 for one sortie, but the equipment was quickly destroyed during battle with the Zakrello.
One notable thing about this version is that it carried a pair of large missiles on its shield instead of extra BR barrels
Perhaps the FA Gundam was indeed made but the Federation kept it a secret even after it was destroyed because it had many performance issues with the weight. If the creation of the FA Gundam was confirmed and all the truth surrounding it came out, Zeon and AE would have a good laugh at the Federation's failure to create a Gundam that had good armor and heavy firepower. Thus, the Feds spread rumors and used the FA Gundam in propaganda material to help hide the truth.
In other words the feds wants to save their face
@@astrea_gny001f Yeah.
I like that the Thunderbolt FA just uses the Ork philosophy of "just needs more DAKKA"
Full armor on steroids 😂
I mean, we know Red Wunz Go Fasta cause Char is red and he's Da Fastest
Thank you for making the video, I really love the full armor gundam, I have the robot spirits version and the fix figuration #01 figures
really curious where you got all the images of the twin cannon and recon types
From the Master Archive Full Armor book
Full Armor Gundam video releases in June, that tracks
There's something similar in my school vr game in the form of the Demonic buster project for Infected Goalius (there were a lot of ideas for the weaponry and armour but the Lute set up was the one that was chosen, the armour is extremely strong and tough while being equipped with special generators that lightens him and the armour, the weapons were modified with 2 7 barrelled Angelic energy cannons, 2 Angelic short swords and an in case of emergency, Angelic steel infused kevlar gloves that has sowed in Angelic brace knuckles) but the problem was he was in 3 battles and got cured
I see you're still talking about this "game" of yours. Again, when will we see it? Who is developing it? How long was it in development? With so little info and so much random stuff that you said, I'm now sure that you're just making all of this up. If it is real, then show some screenshot, or game footage. And, no, don't give me that spiel about how the game is supposed to be a secret. If it is supposed to be a secret, then you wouldn't be here talking about it.
@@ARMsMaster I think this "game" is really just a fanfic of theirs that they won't post.
I've always loved this design. Got my first Robot Damashii ever a month ago and it was this mobile suit.
I feel like I'm watching a conspiracy video about Gundams way after the OYW or like some history channel. Well done.
The main (real-world) source that stated that the Full Armor Gundam WAS built before watching this video was Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space on the PS2. When playing as Anavel Gato during the battle of A Baoa Qu, you run into a Full Armor Gundam that you have to beat with your Gelgoog.
One of my favorite RX-78 Gundam design
Go full armor 🎉 awesome review😊
The full armour is one of my fav MSV kits so much so I got that ancient 1/60 version of it. great video on a suit which may or may not have existed 😊
In recent years Sunrise/Bandai setting has been massively expanded the number of RX-78 series. There were at least some 30 RX-78 has been completed during the OYW.
Sees the FA Thunderbolt Gundam.
*Jazz intensifies immensely.*
My go-to space raid in its native and 550 cost in Battle Operations 2. Also, it's one of my favorite designs when it comes to a FA designated Gundam.
Seeing you pack up that wallet, i just now realised you're from the Netherlands too!. Goeiemorgen!
A theory for where they got a Gundam for the FA version, they didn't! I submit for your consideration that the FA Gundam is in fact a GM with the FA pack. Think about it, the additional armor and thrusters would have improved the durability of the GM inside and they could have always used a more powerful powerplant to help power it. The GM is basically just a watered down Gundam, so why not slap some more armor/weapons/thruster on it and give it a Gundam head and you have a impromptu Gundam.
If the Luna II team worked on the FA Gramps, the Looney Toons team worked on the PF-78-1 Perfect Gundam
I like the Full Armor Gundam that is colored blue. I think it look pretty nice in that color.
One thing I like about this MS is the twin beam rifle. It motivates me to buy a HG Blue Destiny Unit 3 just for this weapon.
i like to think that full armor gundam outter thing exist and was plan to give to amuro. but when amoro said that he want more speed. the fed just went like "welp" and just hand the peice to some gm on earth which result in some people see "full armor gundam"
GBO2 should add the all 3 firing modes to the Type B. uncharged = single shot, charged = 3 barrel fire, sub-weapon = alternating barrel automatic
I'd love it if you made a video focusing on Mobile Suits used for training. I bet you could find out a lot
meanwhile the Full Armor Gundam also inspired the Command Gundam from the SD Command series as in he is a sentient SD Gundam that smokes cigars because he is a parody of 80's Hollywood action movie protagonists despite not having a humanoid mouth to smoke said cigars.
had the set of Mirco figures, whole point was them was same size as TCG and the hanger/box can be used as deck box ^^
an unexpeted, but very welcome development history for surec
I love the Full Armor Gundam. I have a MSIA figure of Full Armor and it's my favorite.
So thats where the name "Full Armour Unicorn Gundam Plan B" aka Perfectibility, came from a reference.
Regular Zeon soldier : Oh No, the Gundam gets Upgrade and its Full Armor 😭
Zeon Ace Pilots : i'll use Zaku II Custom to beat this guy 😎
Heavy armor Grandpa.
Nice
I am leaning towards at least one FA-78-1 unit being actually built and experiencing combat during the war or shortly after simply because of how much of a legacy Full Armor left. There's numerous other Full Armor concepts, including as part of FSWS Project that simply wouldn't make much sense if the foundation for their concept wasn't deemed credible. And then there's the other things, like Dendrobium being an evolution of the same idea or Full Armor and Full Armor-adjacent upgrade concepts for later machines like Mk-II, ZZ, Nu or even V2.
"RX-78-H2O" had me laughing for five minutes
I think we could use some Gundam 00 Development Histories.
The burstliner looks like the federation’s answer to the skuire
Lot of info for a suit that supposedly does not exist. Thanks for the video
Still waiting on the Dom development history
Neat
Please make a video regarding the 3 UC Timelines and major events that they've altered resulting in a drastically different outcome of events.
Have you done a video on the Alex Gundam? Or the Gundams from Stardust? If so which one's were they?
Btw are you gonna add the FA alex and the FA striker? To this maybe?
I like to think that it did exist but just like the GP line in 0083, it was classified for both military and political reasons in universe.
FSWS I believe actually stands for Federation Special Weapons Series.
Well, at least the drink is secure, now about that gaia..................
When I was enjoying a Witch From Mercury fanfiction that had some Titanfall elements and a bit of Warhammer, I was indeed having a very good time......Then my brain hit a snag when the author just randomly threw in some Zaku 1's Zaku 2 high mobility types, Doms and using the term Newtype when these things were not hinted at or brought up. I bring this up because now there are two Gundams in development:The Schwartzete which I am cool with but then BOOM Full Armor Gundam just randomly here. All of the random UC era stuff thrown in made my head spin for weeks but as for the concept of the Full Armor, it is impressive to say the least.
That's fanfic for ya my dude
@@KillerOrca Yeah but not when the author just randomly decides to shove in specific things from another universe entirely right in the middle because he was introduced to it 2 months later lol.
@@MrDarksol Still fanfiction
Bring back the MG FA rx78 Bandai! You're killing me!
I never understood why there were missiles launchers inside the armor of the FA Gundams where a stray beam shot would cook them and damage the suits even more than if they weren't there at all
22:11 i thought sub flight systems are from ce
The Armored Gundam reminds me of the base model of the Gumdam Mudrock.
Im excited to see the connection of the north American local type with the heavy Gundam. Thank you for this and more power.
16:00 @kakarot197 I always thought the RX-78-1's remaining undamaged parts were used as spares to repair Unit 2/Amuro's machine with. I swear there was even a throwaway quote in the show where they mention the fate of units 1 and 3, but it has been too long since I've seen it.
If that's the case, then the FA Gundam couldn't have been made with the original RX-78-1 as the base suit. Tbh, I'd just assumed that beyond the OG Gundam units, any subsequent prototypes were made as new units. This would solve any canonicity issues I can think of, and it would make sense for subsequent prototype models to be designed with new internals, so that new cutting-edge reactor, frame, sensor, etc. designs can continue to be tested under the Gundam monicker. Also, the V-project preceded GM production while the FA project seems like it would've been post-GM, it would make sense for subsequent designs to use parts/learn lessons from the V project (where feasible, since the V units were so costly) and GM production both imo.
The FA Gundam Thunderbolt is more like Full Armed Gundam instead of Full Armored.
Why have armour when you can have... MORE ARMOUR!
i'm a simple man. i see full armor development history, i click.
Most GUNDAM variants were developed or began to develop before the side 7 incident i.e. NT-1.
So I wouldn't follow the idea of the FA being meant for Amuro because the NT-1 was supposed to be for him, now it could have been for the RX-78-2 replacement pilot possibly sayla after he takes over the alex
Okay. Did I hear that right and that we have another Assault Ship Design? The North Pole Class or am I hearing that wrong. Confused Frown.
What happened to the intro?
One of these days I'll be able to afford a Burstliner for my HG Psycho Gundam Full Burst. Then I just have to figure out how to build the Haro rack and the new shield.
best part is most of the full armour parts would also be compatible with a GM
