Happy to see Caleb's growth. I liked that Caleb has pots of green beans in front of his house. It was a subtle nod to the conversation Caleb and Caduceus had, about bearing fruits despite hardships, a "good garden". A symbol of who Caleb has grown into.
@@cassandragidney7682Pretty sure it's the same episode. Deuce asked if he'd ever planted anything and that's when Caleb told him about the green beans, which is why he used them as an example in the destiny thing
The undying angelic herald of the stormlord, one that has crushed demons and defeated eldritch horrors from beyond while wielding a sword the size of a grown man, wearing a novelty apron and softly excitedly telling her wife how she went a lil crazy by making them a salad for dinner is just such wonderfully absurd juxtaposition to me. I love Beau and Yasha's dynamic so much.
Something that's been on mind a bit, but never had a great place to dump it - Beau grew up getting shit on and Yasha spent a long time hurting people that can't forgive her. The repeated dynamic of Yasha getting mind-controlled to attack her nearest ally, Beau, because they were the only two frontline fighters, gave Beau a chance to forgive someone for hurting her, and gave Yasha a chance to be forgiven for her unwilling actions. I never thought they had much in common, but dealing with their traumas like that, well, it does create bonds.
As a reservist who goes from "GET SOME; expert marksman; drives big things; no nonsense; wait, private, I left all my f**ks in my other OCPs; goes for days without a bath; perfume, makeup? Never heard of her." to a "dress every day, made up every day, perfume laced with pheromones, picky eater, soft spoken, mom to everyone" housewife, I appreciate the representation of someone who's trained to absolutely end creatures and people but also has a sweet, loving, domestic side.
We're 2 for 3 for the unfinished business reunions being Travis character centric. Calling it right now that in 2025 Bell's Hells will be reuniting to kill Santa.
10:10 Sam is definitely setting up a "Wildemount Wildlings" One Shot. Name dropping all these specific kids from around Exandria, I bet they're characters the cast (and/or guest stars) will portray.
@@bowemorning My guess is that she was a character but Ashley forgot the name and Matt changed it in canon to fit since it was her first real introduction to the story.
And also, the background music is perfectly synced to the conclusion of his point!!! Its just so amazing, ive gone back and watched that scene several times. I want to go to Caleb's lectures! 🥲
Beau's that one team member that misses the good ole days of constant fighting and near death experiences, the only joy she finds is in nearly dying alongside her friends, I love it
At the risk of over-analyzing a dnd character, because its fun, I feel like Beau's matured into her 9-5 role in the cobalt soul as shes trying to go after the corruption in the government the "right" way. But growth is a process and she's still just a 24 or 25 year old kid at this point after all. The Assembly being quiet and her being stuck with mundane busy work is making her restless and anxious after a life time of living with an impulsive, must-always-be-doing-something mentality. She probably just wants to feel like shes accomplishing something the way she did with the Nein. The added bonus that punching something evil in the face is probably both more satisfying and "simpler" than all the legal stuff shes doing at the soul probably also contributes.
She seems to love her home life with yasha but she went from constant danger and saving the world with her friends to stake out missions for months. I would get excited to stop a lesser evil God too esp if it's with my friends.
And at 3.04.30 when Beau ask "Veth, are you still laundering his money?" - I like to think that Veth didn't tell Beau, Beau just read some reports about criminal activity in Zadash and hints that some of the money might be being laundered through a new charity in Nicodranas, and put it together herself.
To be honest, he really sounds more British than anything close to Irish. He sounds LESS Irish than Molly and Molly's Irish accent was bad and very light.
In episode C3E39, Laura shouts out "Wild out!" and Sam says something along the lines of, "Nope. Not this timeline. They'll get it later". Now we get it! =)
I love everyone's reaction when Liam started talking in Celeb's Zemnian accent. You can really tell they all missed playing The Nein. As we did as well.
I definitely miss Cad in this, but considering what the story is about and how little time we got with Kingsley I definitely understand why they decided to do it this way
That’s something that kinda bothered me here. Fjord IS captain of the ship, he is an experienced sailor, but he has no real drive or desire it feels like. It feels like he’s just winging it and taking a backseat like he doesn’t want to be captain. I don’t know if that was intentional or not. Fjord gives me the vibe he’d rather be on someone ELSE’S adventure than his own. Like it’s an obligation.
@@alftuvik3820 was he? I distinctively remember Sam being unsure about his ages and saying he was around 10. But maybe they decided he should be younger
@@Weirdbrit The first time we meet him, he is described as "No more than five years old." Sam was unsure yeah, he didn't remember his age, but Matt had it in his notes.
Vox Machina and Bells Hells are both great in their own right, but Mighty Nein is by far my absolute favorite campaign. The characters are so deep and nuanced. I truly miss them immensely!
@@thesepretzelssuckass247 it was surely weird when they ran away from the war straight to the ocean, but still very entertaining, one of my favorite arcs ngl. It's amazing how Matt still managed to glue most of the arcs. The Rumblecusp (?) arcs is my least favorite one, but I am still impressed how Matt connected it to the main story line
For me it's really the only true theme song to Critical Role. Especially since it's a fleshed out version of Jason Charles Miller's original theme in the first Campaign. Having it drop in the middle was a great surprise as well as Uk'atoa replacing Thordak in the animation.
I got a goofy smile and a little bit of tears. It makes no sense, cause I can watch the opening theme however many times I want, but seeing it on a NEW episode just hits different. As well as seeing the edits made.
Okay, but the different flying styles of the Mighty Nein? Caleb, utterly focused, technically perfect, flying straight and determined towards his destination. Fjord, new to flying, strong but unsure, mimicking his friends as best he can until he figures out how this works. Jester, carefree, flying up and diving down, full of boundless energy, reveling in the joy and freedom of flight, and occasionally completely forgetting to hang on to Yasha.
"I turn into a giant green eagle and I fly off leaving Kingsley in the street." "I know where you live and I'm going to steal all your stuff." "I go pick him up." Stuff like this is why Taliesin is my favorite.
I love that Yasha & Beau have become THAT couple. Like you hate them because they're SO chic and SO in love. But you love them because they're everyone's like hot, cool, aunts.
My favorite thing in all this is how Kingsley, a technical member of the mighty nein, is being dragged along on this mission that he has ZERO context to and with a group of people he barely knows and through stories told to him. Missing cad though ):
beau and yasha telling they love each other as often as possible is so sweet, these bitches have been through enough they deserve some love, i'm so happy for them
For that amazing landing sequence, i imagine it looked like this: Beau: Black Widow pose Veth: on Beau's back in a mirrored pose Kingsley: Handstands on Veth's back
I don't know what I love more. The awesomeness of this series, or the fact that this is the first time the CR crew play the M9 while sitting around the same table since before the pandemic. Maybe it's both.
Whoa, no shit... That's crazy. I didn't even realize that. That's really cool thinking about how it's been over two years since they sat at the same table as the M9.
Stone's Throw Shipping: Start acquiring small shops in convenient locations where patrons can drop off and collect their packages. Those locations then bring them to the ship/warehouse at port. "You need shipping? We're just a Stone's Throw away!"
Yeah, I don't think Sam likes things to get to dramatic. It probably freaks him out, and it's his way of compensating. He does at dramatic moments try to break the tension. Sadly.
@@lover-of-fate I mean he CREATED a massively popular dramatic scene in C1. Hes also a drama kid. So I don't think he's absolutely against theatrics and drama in the game. But he does break tension with jokes a lot. Doesn't mean that he doesn't like the drama of the show.
@@Chaz1871 Agreed. Thankfully, he doesn't do messy bits like that very often. I don't find them very funny, personally. I just hope HE cleans it up...or else someone else has to. 🤷♀️
Caleb is still sad and sore but tbh it's liam's best role and I love to see his brand of melancholy. He put everything into this role and it fits him the best. Like an old outfit that looks as stunning on you as when you got it, Liam falls back in perfectly.
Right at the start, I love Matt's reaction to Ashley's neighbor. At this point, doesn't even question it, just... makes a note. Yup. That's their neighbor, and they're stuck with the bit, now.
it would be so him considering the Wildmother imagery around that temple "**sudden cold wind the moment Fjord hands out the stone** What was it Wildmother?... My friends are in danger? **Calls M9**"
Seeing Kingsley in action here makes me think Taliesin was wishing he still had Molly back during the M9's pirate adventures because he'd have loved to multiclass him to Swashbuckler Rogue.
i didn't think i could love a youtube video this much, campaign 2 started right around when i got my cancer diagnosis and it really helped me through my treatment, seeing these characters again was so awesome thank you for this Edit: I am now cancer free if anyone was wondering
When they're debating about teleporting vs travelling I couldn't help but think about how their previous teleport did 18 damage to them. A regular beefy person is ~8hp. They're casually talking about a force that'll permakill a normal person.
It was so good to be back with these characters again, kudos to everyone but special shoutout to Laura freakin Bailey *harp music*, she slipped effortlessly and instantaneously back into Jester. She should really consider a career in acting.
@@artemused4363 Let the kids think they’re smart for “the correction.” It’s like listening to a kindergartener explain to you the lesson they just learned in class.
The amount of merch ideas from this episode alone is mindblowing. Martina Stewart cookbooks, Stone's Throw Shipping pins, "Wild Out!" Tees, Yasha's apron - it's a goldmine!
Glad Im not the only one who got a real unicorn vibe from her conversation lol. Kinda doubt if Matt actually intended it but I definitely felt it and the idea they’re both just fully oblivious to it is very funny.
Yeah I love all 3 campaigns but campaign 2 felt like something special. Campaign 1 they were still getting their footing and figuring things out, campaign 3 I feel like their focus has been on the animated series and the campaign has taken a bit of a backseat. But campaign 2 everyone really brought the thunder.
I am loving Kingsley! Adding Swashbuckler Rogue is so great thematically for what the character has been doing and really felt like the flashy kind of dancing around the battlefield Molly used to do, while being unique. I also kind of love the way he is leading the crew when Fjord is falling short. While I kind of wish Fjord was showing a little more confidence, it’s really fun to see the kind of effect Jester has had on him and see him juxtaposed with who Kingsley has become. In this episode we really see how Kingsley has elements of who Molly and Lucien used to be, but also taking things in a new personal direction. The way Fjord’s orders are echoed, both with confidence and a certain element of sass without being unkind. I’m very happy to see who Kingsley is.
Kingsley just throwing shade as he watches the Mighty Knuckleheads in action and clearly quietly loving the sheer absurdity of it is just a great character choice by Tal. As for Fjord; He kinda ended up a captain by necessity, I don’t think he was ever particularly cut out for it. Assuming nothing crazy happens in pt 2, I wonder if we might see him retire from it in the wrap up. He could run a shipping company without being the ship captain.
@@jw__11 Yeah pretty much. Being charismatic helps when you end up alone in a sealed room with a dragon, but it doesn't do a thing to stop you from pushing the shiny red button that got you there in the first place.
@@troikas3353 didn't Tal say Kingsley would eventually lead a mutiny and steal Fjord's ship and become a pirate in their C2 wrap up? i suppose what happens now is adjacent to that, Fjord realising he's really not cap'n material and Kingsley would be all too happy to take over Fjord's position for the crews of BallEater.
@@wytfish4855 In the wrap up, Tal mentioned that eventually, they would capture a second ship, and Kingsley would just disappear one night with it and go join Darktow.
They all look so GOOD. The cast and the characters. Gah, I've missed The Mighty Nein so much! Hearing Caleb's voice again is enough to make a grown woman cry--
Liam and Marisha's outfits are honestly unbelievable, I really want to know where they got them. Hearing them, though? Jester and Caleb's accents, Sam's little yell to get into voice, Beau's bluntness, Fjord and Yasha's awkwardness, and Taliesin's wandering not-really-Irish accent... I'm so happy to be here, and it's only been a month since I finished the main campaign.
Love the reaction of Travis as they arrive at Fjord and Jesters house…the way he looks a Laura…that’s the nod of someone going, you take the lead on that one because I have no fucking idea…and the little conformations and nods as Laura does her thing…hmm…ah yes…yeah…definitely…I know, obviously, it’s my house!
Sam literally had me in tears 13 minutes in with the pronunciation on "blood money." This is gonna be good. EDIT: I love the augury spell, its always funny because it literally tells you nothing 9 times out of 10.
Considering the options are: Good idea, bad idea, good and bad, neither good nor bad. The answer can be so vague. Like the "good and bad" can be, "You run into a horrible storm, but you see some cool jellyfish".
13 minutes in .... First, I refuse to believe those childs Sam namedropped weren't a tease for a future Oneshot. Second, Sam you absolute madlad with the money laundering scheme
Words cannot describe how deeply I missed the Nien. It feels like seeing old friends that drifted away in the currents of life. I would pay money just to see them have a slice of life episode of the nein just existing
I definitely missed Caleb and Jester the most. They are my favorite CR characters so far. All of what Caleb has been through, how his friends helped him heal, has brought me a lot of peace with my own traumas (being raped). I've come a very long way to heal and rise up like a phoenix from the ashes. Jester helped me to re-embrace being mischievous and super-super sweet, just like I used to be before I got raped. All of Critical Role honestly has helped me so much. Thank you, everyone 💖
Yasha, known bug eater: "Hey babe, you want to try the meal I cooked?" Beau, immune to poison: "Yeah sure sweetie" anyway I think if anyone else tried to eat Yasha's cooking they would instantly die.

Kingsley: “I think it would be appropriate, if you don’t mind, to get the crew somewhere to sleep, somewhere nice, somewhere…the nicest place in town?” Veth: “they can sleep at the camp.” Kingsley: “…the *nicest place in town*?”
GOD the entire casts faces during the introductions fits so perfectly to the narrative i can't stop smiling hearing them all talk about whats going on and what is happening
Marisha's seeds and stems. :D Anyone remember in campaign 1 when Keyleth said something about not entering a room because of all the smoke, Sam threw out "Words never before said by Marisha Ray" and she was like "We. Are. On. The. Internet. >:-("
They snuck it into the Vox Machina cartoon too. When Keyleth commented on them all being co-leaders, in the overlapping disagreement you can hear Grog say "What!? Have you been smoking that herb again?"
so grateful for this two shot giving fjord a chance to shine. he’s such an intriguing, complex, well-rounded character, and travis has done some of his best acting work playing fjord. i truly believe that travis and emily axford are the two best dnd players in the world, and i’m just thrilled any time he gets put front and center.

@@darkvizardking69 Yasha and Shion are surprisingly similar now that I think about it.
I imagine it's like Yor and her brother from Spy x Family, where the food is just pure poison but the brother loves it
@@Naev0w0 Probably. But I think Beau is a tad more adjusted than Yuri.
@@snuckytoes8427 idk... almost every single PC ever in any D&D game is a psychopath, they just don't role-play it. Like, PC's murder other sentient beings left and right and never care. Yor's brother is just a more willing psychopath.
Kingsley: “I think it would be appropriate, if you don’t mind, to get the crew somewhere to sleep, somewhere nice, somewhere…the nicest place in town?”
Veth: “they can sleep at the camp.”
Kingsley: “…the *nicest place in town*?”
Loved this part lol Kingsley is a joy
2:12:19 Props to Sam setting that up.
Then you have Marisha and Ashley playing along with the gag at 2:23:42
I don't know if anyone of the Nein noticed, but Beau asks "Are you coming right now?" and Caleb answers "No, I'm not, I'm by myself." Killer comeback!
I think them piling it on made it so much better. Everywhere Caleb looked he was surrounded by it. lmao
I love that, as soon as Sam took a breath, Matt had clocked on and was already regretting it.
Can I just say I have MISSED how epic Caleb's fireball animation is for the intro?
I love to see that Kingley’s style of fighting is totally distinct and unique to him. Not just a carbon copy of Mollymauk.
GOD the entire casts faces during the introductions fits so perfectly to the narrative i can't stop smiling hearing them all talk about whats going on and what is happening
I hope they do an animated series of M9. I would watch it on repeat!
More than LoVM. Of which I'm on #8
@@leadingblind1629 catch up homie, season 2 is coming out soon
@Korpsman Infantry I think they might have meant 8th rewatch.
In which case, they're a fake fan! Those are amateur numbers! Lol.
@@korpsmaninfantry7238 wait, is season 2 announced? Did I miss it? (I'm behind on C3)
@@zackjones0416 it was announced a month or so back
Marisha's seeds and stems. :D Anyone remember in campaign 1 when Keyleth said something about not entering a room because of all the smoke, Sam threw out "Words never before said by Marisha Ray" and she was like "We. Are. On. The. Internet. >:-("
She was so mad XD
They snuck it into the Vox Machina cartoon too. When Keyleth commented on them all being co-leaders, in the overlapping disagreement you can hear Grog say "What!? Have you been smoking that herb again?"
Does marisha smoke?
@@ludi3444 yes,it was mentioned a few times in c1 but I'm not sure if she still partakes
@ludi3444 lmao does Marisha smoke? 😂 Like a chimney.
Taliesin’s “You are the one who camps” was so underrated!
so grateful for this two shot giving fjord a chance to shine. he’s such an intriguing, complex, well-rounded character, and travis has done some of his best acting work playing fjord. i truly believe that travis and emily axford are the two best dnd players in the world, and i’m just thrilled any time he gets put front and center.
Agreed! Fjord is still my favorite character int he mighty nein and in general in all of critical role's character pool. hes absolutely amazing.
Forever my favourite intro theme. God damn it's nice to hear it again.
