As you asked for suggestions, I suggest maybe you can show us some drone footages of the truck stops and other beautiful places where you can park safely.
I agree, drone shots make a video 10 times better, but I'm sure he is pushed for time, he wouldn't even get any rest on his rest breaks. Speaking of that, about the logbooks, are they bringing in e-logs in Australia or maybe it's already here? Another great video. I cut my teeth over 30 years ago as a 19 year old carting coal between Oakdale and Wollongong (Port Kembla). 4 loads a day -12 hours a day - 6 days a week. That was when we ran through Picton and Wilton townships. Certainly a different time in road transport. No computers in trucks, no GPS and no dash cams. It was like an episode of the wacky races every day. Not too many cars could keep up with us on the windy stuff.......
Andrew, real cowboy days! (trucks were not speed limted back then!) If you survived that time without a big incident - hats off to you! 4 loads a day was a big ask for a driver to do safely back then. The good thing is NSW improved those roads - as shown in this video.

The detour was in fact following the top of the escapement along south till you picked up Picton Rd going west back to the Hume as you said. You actually didn't go down into Wollongong, close thou. Where you turn left in Appin was great choice. Straight ahead on Wilton Rd ends in pain. Boughton Pass, hairpin bends into and out of tight bridge crossing the Cataract River. Not B double route. Great insights. Good stuff.

Was always my ambition as a teenager growing up in WA to be an interstate truck driver, after watching the semis coming down Greenmount Hill into Perth........it never eventuated, I joined the Navy instead - did 20 odd years and then ended up in IT!! Retired now, but your vidoes shows me what I could have looked forward to. Definately not all rainbows and lolllipops, but certainly some good times if you enjoy your own company. Great vids mate. I use a rag for the fuel when it rains & a brush for the dash just like you. I drive a concrete truck in western Sydney, a lot of big industrial sites out here being built, very dusty, especially when I'm in reverse & the engine fan kicks in, dust everywhere !!!

I used to use it with a 3 axle rigid years ago but these days there is a length limit on it. There are a couple of tight hairpin bends that would have caused you all sorts of pain. Keep up the good work, you make an old truckie miss his time on the road.

I have a mc license but haven’t used it for work. I drive medium rigid trucks most weeks but I’m not employed as a truck driver lol.
Have my MR and used to drive tourist vehicles between Casino (near Lismore) and the GC; work at a local servo now but also occasionally drive the local cab……would love to look into upgrading and doing something else as have always felt at home on the road…..these videos just make the itch stronger and something. I’ll definitely be chatting with the wife about so thank you for the content and please keep it up 😊
I hate having to go down roads youve never driven on.. massive sweaty palm moment.. I drive a 30m "A-double" road train tanker and dont want to snooker myself by going the wrong way, they are not as easy to reverse as a b-double as you know.

I was only down there a couple weeks ago to escort a wide load from Wollongong to Brisbane, we used Picton Rd on the way out. hey when I was driving semi's back many years ago now I always loved going to new places, new roads, was like exploring the country , especially Western Qld and and the NT
Mate steer with two hands on the wheel. At one stage you are flicking the wheel left and right. Guys that do that on hot days are the ones getting blow-outs.. when you have both hands off the wheel your truck steers straight anyway.
Loving the content, this randomly came up on my suggestions and I'm glad it did! I actually service the bins in your yard ( I didn't know it was a Watsons yard, my paperwork just says americold ) Been thinking about getting my MC for a while! I love that same hawkesbury section of road too and think about it often, good memories with my old man on that stretch of rd many a time! Also commented before I watched the whole thing, I grew up in Picton NSW and only moved to Bris about 6 years ago. You were perfectly right about what you said about Appin Rd etc, it was always just a small country town and all those housing estates came later. The way you went is right, if you went on Wilton Rd, you would've come unstuck at broughtons pass which is a tight hairpin rd, had a few get stuck there growing up as a young lad haha. It is a hell of alot quicker if you are in a car though! Also dead right about feeling uncertain when you don't know areas, it never goes away!
Arr the old window electricks in a K200, i remember going down the Hawksbury when the passager side window decided to go down in the middle of the night, enough to put the fear of god into a man,LOL.

Mate, when you are doing these vids, keep one hand properly on the wheel, that way you'll not get into strife with the law eh, besides if you ran over a block or something, the wheel will spin in the days before power steering you hadda keep both hand on, push with one hand pull with the other

I stay off it as much as I can mate otherwise it’s too easy to get into arguments lol my wife said the same thing that I should get some radio chat in the videos but that would mean leaving the camera rolling constantly I just don’t have the space on the sd cards 👍

Try being in Sydney which is actually wetter than Brisbane and most of our rain comes in the cooler months.

Ended up being a triple fatality. All occupants of the car died in a crash with a cement truck. The toddler died in hospital a few days later
I'm actually thinking about moving back to Sydney or Brisbane I've been pulling triple and quad road trains for around 15 years it's time for a change

Mate steer with two hands on the wheel. At one stage you are flicking the wheel left and right. Guys that do that on hot days are the ones getting blow-outs.. when you have both hands off the wheel your truck steers straight anyway.

I love that same hawkesbury section of road too and think about it often, good memories with my old man on that stretch of rd many a time! Also commented before I watched the whole thing, I grew up in Picton NSW and only moved to Bris about 6 years ago. You were perfectly right about what you said about Appin Rd etc, it was always just a small country town and all those housing estates came later. The way you went is right, if you went on Wilton Rd, you would've come unstuck at broughtons pass which is a tight hairpin rd, had a few get stuck there growing up as a young lad haha. It is a hell of alot quicker if you are in a car though!
Also dead right about feeling uncertain when you don't know areas, it never goes away!

Mate, when you are doing these vids, keep one hand properly on the wheel, that way you'll not get into strife with the law eh, besides if you ran over a block or something, the wheel will spin
in the days before power steering you hadda keep both hand on, push with one hand pull with the other

I stay off it as much as I can mate otherwise it’s too easy to get into arguments lol my wife said the same thing that I should get some radio chat in the videos but that would mean leaving the camera rolling constantly I just don’t have the space on the sd cards 👍
