- Hey guys welcome back to another video! In this video I’m doing my usual run from Brisbane on Sunday afternoon down to Melbourne! We’re going the coast road this week to smash some pies at trappers bakery down in Goulburn on the way to Victoria 🥧🥧

Starting my First HR job on Tuesday, Watching these videos that are POV in a bigger truck really helps and shows how easy i got it in a HR. Keep them coming.
"Resume" resumes your cruise control to last setting. Like if you're cruising on 100 and for example touch the brakes disengaging cruise control, pressing resume will take you back up too 100 without your accelerator
These videos are so good and I loved watching them, it just makes me want to become a trucker myself
Nice to see you remembered a towel and your wraps this trip Jacques!!😁
😂 I’m glad someone noticed because every video I’m complaining about forgetting them haha
RES - resumes your cruise control, so say you're doing 110, then have to stop, click resume and it'll take you back up to 110
Hey buddy,, you musnt have your truck license... trucks cant go over 100 in australia
You’re a legend Owen. I can sit and watch your vids for hours. I’ve been a closet truckie since I was a kid but never found the time to do it. I guess watching your channel is a great way for me to live your experiences from the couch. Stay safe mate and I look forward to many more hours in the cab with you. ✌🏻
No one can describe the feeling of the guardian system when it shakes your seat scare the life out of ya even when your awake
Exactly! It’s the most unnatural feeling mate
Sometimes it shakes when you toos busy watching pretty girls out of the cab... just kidding it's is actually funny when it get trigger Sometimes unnecessarily.😅
You're such a nice guy with your approach to food reviews and potential criticism.
Side view with sounds coming out of Goulburn was epic!
Haven't driven commercially for a decade, what's the MTB thing above you? A points system for over revving? Social credit score in the cab, last industry I would expect to fall to fascism
It’s just a way to manage performance mate I don’t think it would be considered a social credit score 👍
As an Australian truckie for 35 years myself , I don’t know why I get on here & watch other blokes drive & do exactly what I do . Is it that I can’t get enough of driving or am I just sick in the head ? Please don’t answer that question , I’ll just ask the missus & I bet she’ll have the answer . Nothing new , she has the answer to everything .
Hey man just asking how you get into truck driving, I’m young and have a lot of interests and truck driving is one of them.
You just want to connect with men who are like you. It's normal bonding instincts. (Not gay. Lol. That is an over used joke). You need to make friends.
Great idea, I would be driving it in manual mode too !! Love the old jake brake, although I know many towns don’t 😂 PS can you leave the screen shot maps and trucks up for a little longer, they were gone in a flash. I know you can pause the video but you can’t see the images very clearly then . Thanks. Keep the shiny side up old mate
Too easy mate thanks for letting me know I’ll leave them up for a couple seconds 👍
Hopefully Don Watson let’s you keep making these. Interesting content and good safety
Cheers mate 👍
👍another great video keep it pumping from across the water NZ
Thanks brother 👍 what part of nz you from?
Great video mate loved the pov driving footage on this one! safe travels bro 👍
Cheers bro 👍👍
In addition to your food reviews have you thought about doing coffee reviews? We have tried the coffee at every different brand of service station and have concluded that the coffee at Shell Coles Express is by far the best. It may not be in the brilliant category but it outdoes lots of coffees we've bought at cafes and at $1.50 is far cheaper.
Funny you say that mate my favourite coffee is from shell in Aratula 👍👍
G'DAY CROSS FAMILY!!
Hey brother hope you’re well 👍
Really top video. Good to have some mirror cam. Enjoy rest of the week. Take care, and stay safe Jacques .
Cheers John 👍
Another great video Jacques… thanks for sharing some of the nerdy stuff like weights over the axles, driver safety gear etc.
Cheers for another great episode! 🍺👍
Cheers mate 👍
Great vlog 👍🏿 thank you for explaining your cab set-up. Travel safe brother 🙏🏿
Cheers Nigel 👍
Thank,s another good trip from the passenger seat. We all keep you company.
Cheers mate 👍
Thanks for the video, keep ‘Em coming.
Cheers mate 👍
Resume on cruise control will re-engage cruise control at the last set speed, say you've got it set to 60, you break and disengage it, hitting resume would re-engage it to 60 and push your truck up to that speed, in a manual car, engaging the clutch disengages the cruise control, not sure if your truck changing gears would do the same thing, might wanna test that out.
That's one problem solved... 👏 👏
Thanks pal, be safe and enjoy, enjoy.
Cheers rob 👍
Another great video mate thanks for sharing 👍👌watching from the uk👍
Cheers mate thanks for watching 👍👍
explaining the gears was good, good vids mate. brissie to melb would be a big drive yes? I like the outside vid looking back too, thanks for what you do!
Yeah it’s a big drive mate the whole trip takes around 30hours with 20 of those being driving 👍
Great video, thanks !!!
All good thanks for watching 👍
U go right past my house every time i see one of ur companys trucks on the road im checking to see if its you
Where do you live? I’ll give you a toot next time 👍
Great video, but would love to see it complete, just the driving from where you leave from to where you finish up. As I'm a son of an old truckie from the old days.
Great job, mate! Your videos are fantastic - keep up the good work!
Good to see the explanations on what shit does, Im looking at crossing the ditch to do some driving now the kids have grown up, keep up the good work and stay safe.
Cheers brother good luck if you ever decide to 👍
The overpass over the Port rd down from Lytton rd had a rollover there the first week it was open, wonder how many there’s been since then.
There was another one a few weeks ago mate 🤷♂️
Like that blue and white combo on Andrew's k whopper
Yeah it’s a beauty bro aye love a flat roof too 👍
Saw you coming through Chinderah a while ago, travel safe mate.
Hey man, if you like pies hit up Jacobs Bakery, there's one in Brendale.
Hope your having a good week brother
You too bro I was in and out of Victoria quick I was only in Melbourne for an hour then went back up to the border for my 7 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking hasn’t been a good week for me but ur videos are cheering me up
Put on a reversing clinic at Goulburn. Nice one!
It doesn’t always go that smoothly mate haha 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking of course. But keep including the good ones 😀
only the good ones 😂🤷♂️
How you going bro. Keep safe out on your travels. Take care.
I’m good brother thanks very much appreciate you watching 👍
Very informative and inspiring
How does the driver points system work? So for example if you over rev the truck. Do they reprimand the drivers if they accrue a certain amount of points? That kind of sucks in my opinion, the autos are hopeless at downshifting in Kenworths, they always have been but the drivers shouldn't be penalized because of that. I drove a semi auto K104 for a while, that thing would just about redline itself on the downshifts.
It’s more so a performance monitoring system mate not so much a disciplinary thing 👍
Mad love for the work you do uso ❤. Keep safe and god bless .
Thanks brother appreciate it
Resume puts your cruise back to the last set speed
Funny I’ve never used it haha
awsome brother, another banger, waiting for some steak an egg action out of my mans 🎉🎉🎉🎉 stay safe out there
and hammer down bruf ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cheers brother I already had the steak and eggs couldn’t film it cos I was in the depot 👍
Nice work bud
Cheers knots 👍
Got that finger going well. Lol.
😂😂 I forgot who said this last video
@@crossfamilytrucking this was Pat. You laughed. I’m a retired paramedic and have driven coaches for awhile but would like to get into MC work. Could you advise a company that is quite good in obtaining this. I live in Melbourne but am happy to travel. Thanks mate.
Nice video Jacques.
Cheers John 👍
New cameras at the start of Hexham bridge on the left side
Yeah mate seen them 👍
Great video son 👍
Thanks dad call you this weekend
I would love to be a truckie But I don’t know the process of becoming one
Depending on what state you’re based in mate start off on your HR license if you can then move into MC if you’re in QLD or HC for any of the other states 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking I’ve got a question as well Am i being monitored with a camera inside of the truck Cabin that is facing towards me and am I being monitored with this camera by the company that i would be working for
Not sure mate everybody does things differently some trucks have no cameras some trucks have heaps
@@crossfamilytrucking fair enough I just want privacy on my own terms that’s all Thanks matey
@@crossfamilytrucking I just got my Hr B licence in qld, are there many opportunities for entry level jobs as I don”t have any experience.
Thanks for the vids.
Thanks for the memories.
Think I saw u going thru dubbo on Tue I think it was ,going out past golf course
I wasn’t out that way this week mate would’ve been one of the other drivers 👍
Good video
Nice video , tio has they would say here in España
Cheers mate 👍
Great content!
Cheers mate appreciate it 👍
Hi Jacque, you talk about having a 7 hour break. Is this the minimum you must have ? And MTdata I have no idea what that is..Wheres the vanilla slice from Trappers ? Good video ..
Minimum breaks in 24hr has to be 10 hrs mate with 7 of those hours being consecutive 👍
Looking at all of the dials and buttons confuses the heck out of me lol.
Hey mate, recently discovered your content and i am enjoying it. As a 16 year old with a passion for trucks and driving this content is my style.
Just wondering how much weight are you allowed per axle, i heard it was 6 ton but dunno if its true.
And also how many hours driving do u get for how much time break?
Cheers
👍👍👍🥓🥓🥓
Theres so many rules does my head in to think about how much pressure you guys have. Be nice to just get back to just driving.
Mean vid once again brother, what app you use to log your hours?
Thanks bro I use logbook checker to count my hours 👍
New to the channel and loving the videos bro. I’m about to try get into the transport industry, been a sheet metal fabricator for 8 years and looking for a career change and always wanted to drive big rigs. Any tips on beginners wanting to get involved bro? Appreciate any feedback 🤙🏻
What's the go with the weigh stations - do they weigh you often? You enter and get told to return to the highway. Is there some sort of scanning via camera and they determine you are ok because you are part of a normal trucking company?
It’s random mate you never know when your gonna get pulled in. There’s cameras looking at the truck and a plate you drive over that grabs weights 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking Thanks for the reply bud. I'm still watching your video! Too quick. Good job on the video as usual.
Who cares if you smoke and drink energy drinks im more upset you don't have a doona cover and pillow case lol
😂😂 it’s just extra washing brother 🤷♂️
@@crossfamilytrucking 😄😄😄
What’s up brother
His starting to notice your leaving him behind my daughter has been like that since she was 3 she's 5 now
Yeah he’s around the same age now mate it’s waterworks every time I leave now 👍
Hey mate noticed a few times you mentioned the temps in your vids, doesnt Don Watson supply bunk coolers of some kind? Dont remember the last time I've been in a truck with out some form of bunk cooling and I've done zero interstate so seems strange? You blokes should have all the mod cons
awesome video mate, just curious what freeway do you take when coming into melbourne and once your in melbourne?
The Hume onto the m80 mate 👍
How much you taking week bro
hey mate what is the brand of your food warmer/heater thanks
I think it’s just a cheap mate pretty sure mrs cross got it from Amazon it looks like a lunch box 👍
You gonna get an auto or manual when you purchase your own truck mate?
Not sure yet bro I would enjoy driving either 👍
QUESTION
who cleans the interior and exterior of you truck is it part off your job as a driver 😊
It’s my responsibility mate 👍
The company can see images of you driving?
Its not automatic its automated. Different things mate.
Okay dad, why go to Melb via Sydney? You worried about Yowies on the Pilliga ???
Hey brother was just wondering if the auto gearbox has a splitter like the 18 spd road rangers
Yeah mate it’s used all the split gears a single gear is a split and 2 gears is a whole gear
@@crossfamilytrucking so when you click up twice your going up a full gear sorry for asking so many questions bro but trying to get into the transport industry
Yeah mate exactly right 👍
Hello how much does a driver earn in Australia per month after tax? How much does it cost on average?
Really enjoyed watching this mate! Been curious about truck driving myself - how much can you expect to make on an average week here in Aus? All the best brother.
Have a crack at it mate 👍 it depends what kind of trucking your doing and what kind of freight you end up carting. Anywhere between 1500 and 2500 is normal if you don’t wanna go too far away from home 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking Legend, thanks for the insight!
I love driving, but have a sense driving a truck is a different ballgame & level of responsibility all together.
Do most truckies listen to music/podcasts whilst driving? I imagine once they're experienced enough to concentrate on doing both? Currently my physical work is exhausting me and I love being on the road... got me thinking.
Cheers mate 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking really per week
what's with the glad hands?
Not sure mate 🤷♂️
I went to wanganui
Message me if you want to chat mum lol
Pretty good on the gear changes mate. Didnt hear u grind 1 gear. Do u do the 1 run down and back for the week? You've probably said in a vlog but being a male i more than likely wasnt listening 😅 Cheers
It’s cos I drive an auto mate 😂 I drive it in manual though Auto mode is too slow. I usually go down to Melbourne then either straight back home to Brisbane or work my way back up by going to Sydney before brissy 👍
what camera do you use for the pov headshots?
I use a go pro 11 for everything mate 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking nice!
Playlists? What tunes do you listen to?
Stupid question, can u spit gears in a auto
One click is a split gear if that makes sense mate two clicks is a whole gear 👍
Quick question, have you driven an Allison automatic before?
Never mate how do they drive
@@crossfamilytrucking Allison is a true automatic transmission, whilst Eaton is just manual auto shifting
Wheres vlog 16
this is automatic truck brother?
Yeah mate 18spd auto 👍👍
@@crossfamilytrucking u prefer it over Manuel?
The modern automatic gearbox trucks in Australia are really manual gearboxes controlled by a computer.
The clutch operates automatically and the gear selection does as well, but the driver can manually select which gear he wants.
I normally let the truck do it's thing but on hills I like to call when the down changes will happen.
is it difficult or stressful? do you get hotel cost reimbursed? how many hours on the road each day roughly? It appeals to me because it is solitary. I like being alone in peace and quiet and driving. But just not sure about the size and danger factor..
Hotel?
@@blokebeershed7651 I thought truck driver get to stay in hotel overnight during their journeys
Beds in the back
Why do you have those two fans in the centre of the windscreen? Do you not just use climate control? Thanks.
Bye heu
I know that system that's a Mobileye
I want to move to Australia to be truck driver I have 20 years experience..
Hey Pave, you'd be more suited if you'd had 20 years in prison. Truck drivers here are treated as criminals, if you misspell something in your log book you get fined several thousand bucks.
The governments drove away the old timers and the roadcraft is of a higher level among terrorists in caravans than truck drivers.
But come quickly cause they are screaming for drivers and as long as you can sign your name you'll get a start.
@@servantofgod5642 nah terrorists are in them little trucks with no cab
Do you know mk trucking Australia
U guys hiring?
Gday
Any jobs for migrants
Lovely video. Cheers from singapore. Happy to be visiting sydney in july.. wooho
