Whoa. That's really great. I just did this for an 05 TL I've been restoring. I cut off an inch on the back end of the slider so it would open all that way.
I am 64 years old and I LOVE my Acura TL, I bought it with 20,000 kms on it for 39,000 Canadian. It now has 170,000 kms on her but she feels and looks new because every time something, no matter how small, I fix it so that these things don't start to add up and make the car not as enjoyable to ride. Just for shits and giggles, here is what I had removed, replaced, or fixed so far: Blue tooth module removed because it was killing battery with phantom power. Hit a rock and busted radiator, water got in transmission, replaced transmission. New power window regulators both sides of front because of sticky window tint. New front and rear calipers, back wheel bearings. Left front axle snapped right in the middle of the axle shaft. 2 ignition coils short out in the winter from moisture, replaced. Rear struts and springs and shock mounts replaced. Heater control arm for valve behind motor rusted off, replaced. A/C only needed a slight charge and a product injected to stop minor leak, no leaks for 4 years now. "Tighten fuel cap" reminder light disconnected, factory problem, not the car. Front hood struts lost tension to hold up hood, replaced. Rear trunk torsion spring that holds up trunk snapped, replaced. One small rust spot at bottom of right rear door, repaired. That's it...not bad when you think that I have NOT had a car payment for the last 9 years. Never had an " engine light" come on except when one ignition coil flattered. Never had an oil light, or ABS light, TCS light, nothing else. Same headlight bulbs, same brake light bulbs, all clearance lights work. OH ...one more thing ... the slider for the center console just snapped ... that's why I'm here.
Hey for the gear shift cover trim part. On the upper left part there is a tab there, mines is missing. Do you know what that part is called exactly? Figured you might know since you fixed all kinds of things already.

On my 08 TL the slider broke two weeks ago, good video, like you mentiooned there are other videos that shows how to remove the trims and get to the last steps. Yours is about replacing the cup holder part and the slider. I appreciate very much that you stop your recording when you remove your screws. It is a waste of time and lenghten the video for ABSOLUTELY nothing. Good work, i am leaving right away to remove and repair mine.
Already done on my 08 TL after following your instructions. Mine was broken after the second rib, i first glued booth parts with Krazy glue just to make them hold together and i put a large thin very sticky filament tape that we use in electronics. Et voilà ... Let´s see if it holds up for a long time. Keep the lid closed as much as possible as mine broke after the second rib because the turn radius is very sharp when the lid is fully open.
I was reading online that some people were cutting like 2 to 3 lines off to fully retract the sliding cover. I might just do that later on. But for now it's still functional.
If you Google cup holder slide cover you'll find them in many colors and with the Chrome tab. Your local pick a part/ u pull it will have tons of Lincoln navigators and range rovers and other vehicles that have the same slider in them.

This deserves more views. Acura should be ashamed for using cheap parts on a luxury sedan.

I feel like you can easily cut a few of those lines off on the cover in order to get both cups holders useable
