3rd gen is cool. I have a 2013 4th gen SH and I couldn't be happier with it, quick sedan and the AWD system is amazing. Plus it's Japenese luxury so it's comfortable as hell.
Pretty much summed up the entire reason I chose my TL (2010 6MT SHAWD) I do however think that people are sleeping on the 4th gen. Once you change the front grill the car really starts looking fairly good.
The second gen is the best cause it’s the lightest with the v6. Plus you can do a 6 Spd swap from a 3.2 CL type-s, meaning a 0-60 in 5.8 and good for 160+
My parents owned the 2nd gen TL type s. It was an awesome car, engine still ran fantastic. My mom couldn’t drive stick and we didn’t have the time to do a manual swap, so we went through 3 auto transmissions 😂
I own a 2nd gen (2003) TL with about 199k miles on it. Still has the original transmission. I also have all the service records since 2003 and it's been very well maintained. No transmission issues what-so-ever (yet) and rides amazing even for being on eBay coils. Absolutely loving the car, perfect for carrying my kid around in too
I’ve had 3g and I have a 4g ....I like the third gen but love ❤️ my 4g especially if you have all wheel drive 3.7 She is a beast and love the curves of her body!!!!!
The 2012 TL SH-AWD is the most fun car I have ever owned. One time Google thought I was "flying", probably going too fast, but fun. Then another time I was racing a 370Z and came to a sharp hump with a steep drop and he braked, I didn't. It was the first time I ever caught air in a car on a city road, a lot different than a 4x4 on some back-road. Damn car was a freakin Tank and a Fighter Jet all in one with an interior of First Class; "Umber" like peanut butter. And I am 6'8" could sit comfortably with heated/cooled seats was a dream every day. Sold it to go a new direction in life, but thinking very heavily of getting another next year. That SH-AWD system is amazing, for a "Stock" vehicle drifted like a dream in all weather conditions.
I loved my black on black 99 TL! I lowered it with truhart springs and shocks. I put 3rd gen starfishes on it with 215/55/17 tires? Loooooooved it! But yes... after 4 years of beating it while doing all the maintenance early. It met its maker... trans went. And yes. I did service the trans. Yes I used oem fluids as I did work for Honda at the time.

I have an '04 with Navi. It looks great with a drop, wheel spacers, quad exhaust, and the A-Spec kit. Fuel mileage isn't bad, either. It's still my daily driver and will be so for the foreseeable future.
As an owner of a 2008 Acura TL I can definitely say that the exterior is an amazing feat of engineering. One thing I will say though if you really trying to Hot Rod the car it's going to take a lot of money and a lot of patience most of the modifications you will find is for the engine hardly any for the transmission and they do sell turbo and Supercharger kits for this car considering you have changed out internals in the engine any styling modifications the sky's the limit tbh if you are thinking of picking up this car please do yourself a favor and find the 2007 through 2008 Type S although rare in a little more expensive preferably with a manual transmission 👍
Ive got an 05 TL. Had a few issues with the Automatic transmission but other then that I love this bad boy! Wouldn't get rid of it ever, even after my I get my next vehicle. Its also in great condition!
Ive owened several Acura TL. Starting with the early 2000 TL then i had 02,Several 3g TL and ive driven the 4g. Best choice is manual transmission 3g or 4g tl and they are very higly dependable cars. Only problems ive had was the common bluetooth module that eats up your battery in 2 days. Most expensive of course the timing belt service which should be replaced every 100k plus miles. Not too many boost options sadly. Its either the old comptec supercharger or custom turbo or finally the rotrex supercharger made by gerzand that i think its the best choice but it eliminates your cold ac :(.Engine tuning has gotten better since we now have Hondata and Ktuner!
I have 2005. I don’t think I will ever get rid of it. All the lines and style are simple and perfect. Reliable and fun to drive. I’m always modifying mine, full custom suspension, exhaust, intake, body mods. I think it will be considered a classic car for me, timeless, sexy, Still cheaper than a sports car. Mine is all black.
Had an 07 TSX myself. Love the RSX/Integras that came before hand as well. I still miss my 07 TSX to this day. One of the best cars I've ever owned in more than one category. Now I'm thinking of getting an 08 TL Type S, as they have aged so well like a fine wine. The third gen Acuras were the last truly great Acuras imo. They haven't looked as good since. The 4th gen TL's for example are much bulkier and even though are newer haven't aged as well as the 3rd gens. Even the brand new Acura's have a funny looking grill and just don't look as sporty as the third gen's.
I drive the 2008 TL and bought it brand new with 8 miles on it. It was very pricey then, and I am glad I still drive it. It is my toy now and have been modifying it and upgrading.
@sideways G I’m in Tsx Gang worldwide and in my state alone there’s only 2 second gen Tsx wagons but when they’re seen they are greatly appreciated. Same goes with the first gen although it’s not as common to find. Even harder is running into a legit rhd euro r

I love my 3rd gen TL. It gets up and goes and doesn’t kill my bank account. It’s really easy to work on as well. Thinking about dropping it a little bit but just a lil since I have to drive on bumpy country roads every day.
I got an ACURA TL 05 dark blue with tint windows and the original wheels painted all back with white logo. I have this car for more than two years and whoever got it before just didn’t know how to maintenance this car at all.. I rebuild the transmission, did full tune up coils and sparks, new alternator and compressor .. I even install a new short intake and deleted the 3 mufflers... all I gotta do now it’s lower it and just install some vent visors.... over 250k miles but still great! The secret is taking care of the car before something happen... you see something is not right.. fix it before it gets worse! Gotta love my TL
I had to part with my second gen and I just bought a new 06 smokey grey ! I love my car. She kicks ass. The previous owner dogged her out. I put another motor in and now working on her catalyst converter and sensor. Treating her with major care.
Had an 05 I bought new. Loved it. Gas tires and oil is all it ever asked for over 120k miles. If you want a 3rd gen, buy one that's been treated and maintained well and it will reward you.
@@mikeschafer4440 yea I got a good deal can't seem to find many under 85k miles. Its amazing, decent gas milage too. Car doesn't need much done to it. I have tints front plate to the right and lowered. Turns heads all day. Black on black trim

"Accomplishes everything an adult would want that still loves cars, a car that looks nice and has 4 doors" Well said. Pretty much described what I'm looking for without me having to say a word. Been watching a lot of "car guys" youtube videos and they have nothing else to suggest than a bang out Subaru, AMG, BMW 3 series, and G35. Funny enough they know it's gonna be super expensive to maintain those cars. I'd say is250, is350 and the TL are the go-to for someone who's in the market for a 4door that can be modified with relatively low maintenance cost.
I love the Acura TL. It's a classic timeless design that holds up to this day. ! I personally owned 07 Acura TL type f 3.5. 6 speed manual with a LSD back then that combination would go 0 to 60 in 5.85 to 6.0 seconds which is super quick in 07 and nothing sounds like a jj series exhaust and a j pipe on mine I found a 2012 super handling all-wheel drive magnesium manifold and bigger throttle body that only came standard on 2012 to 2014 6 speed manual 3.7 super handling all-wheel drive. Wish I had that car today
My father owns a 2003 2nd generation Acura TL and lemme just tell you, it’s the most reliable car we’ve ever had. That transmission and engine are quick and my dad drives that thing to LA and back almost everyday. It’s close 300,000 miles now, probably has generated close to 1.5 million dollars in company sales. This is our good luck car Forsure!

Pretty much summed up the entire reason I chose my TL (2010 6MT SHAWD) I do however think that people are sleeping on the 4th gen. Once you change the front grill the car really starts looking fairly good.
Definitely a great car. Bought it brand new in 07 and still driving it to this day. Currently sitting at 140k miles.
I've had my 4th gen for 3 years I love it the awd 3.7l engine so fun to drive

I’ve owned 3 total. Great cars. Reliable, fun, timeless look. Can’t go wrong!
Are they reliable after 200k miles looking to buy one a 2004 but no so sure if it would be a good choice the car has 220k miles but dang idk
@@eddie_salv5143 how much do they want for it? Personally I wouldnt even bother looking at a car over 120k miles .
I have my 07 tsx for 4 years and I regret not getting 08 tl type s 😭😭
If u got a 6 speed tsx then just do some NA tuning like bolt ons ECU tune or bigger cams and pistons and you will be smoking any heavy ass TL.
Shit i got a 04 TSX 6 speed lowered on BC coilovers with 18" AG wheels with a ecu reflash.
@@davidblackwell9747 niceee when does your vtec kick in?
Me too bro, love my TSX though
anyone else on here with one follow me on instagram @stock.cl9
Why I like the tsx better
The second gen is the best cause it’s the lightest with the v6. Plus you can do a 6 Spd swap from a 3.2 CL type-s, meaning a 0-60 in 5.8 and good for 160+
My parents owned the 2nd gen TL type s. It was an awesome car, engine still ran fantastic. My mom couldn’t drive stick and we didn’t have the time to do a manual swap, so we went through 3 auto transmissions 😂
I’ll gladly take the couple extra pounds and drive the 3G
To me the type s 6spd 3g was the best
I have a 3rd gen 6 speed it’s the best one you can buy no question
I own a 2nd gen (2003) TL with about 199k miles on it. Still has the original transmission. I also have all the service records since 2003 and it's been very well maintained. No transmission issues what-so-ever (yet) and rides amazing even for being on eBay coils. Absolutely loving the car, perfect for carrying my kid around in too
Update: 214k miles and still going strong. After some research I discovered it had the 2nd recall transmission. So no more transmission issues.
hey how can I tell which model transmission I have?
@@WillFine Look on the top for blue bolts is what I remember.

I used to have a TL, man I miss that car.. I drove it into the ground and got some bad knocking around 210,000 miles but that was my baby for years 😢
Mine just recently started knocking around 164K. I'm sad, but I think I'm going to spend the money to have the engine swapped or rebuilt
Mine is at 273k and still runs like new.
civicpride1986 yeah it’s rare to get a Honda/Acura that won’t live forever but it does happen sometimes.. I’ve accepted it 😪😂

I have an '04 with Navi. It looks great with a drop, wheel spacers, quad exhaust, and the A-Spec kit. Fuel mileage isn't bad, either. It's still my daily driver and will be so for the foreseeable future.
Loved my TL when I had it, just wish i had bought a 6spd. Those v6 sound amazing with a cai!
My 05 base @223,000 miles. Runs like a Champion. Never bored of it.
I turned 17 and got a 2009 White diamond pearl TL FWD, love the thing to pieces. Already got wheels and a tint on it, exhaust is next
I used to have a 2011 acura tl that thing packed a little over 300 horsepower it was awesome!!!!

I just bought my 2004 Acura TL 3.2 today
I can’t wait to modify it, I really going to take good care of it, that’s a dream car!
I drive the 2008 TL and bought it brand new with 8 miles on it. It was very pricey then, and I am glad I still drive it. It is my toy now and have been modifying it and upgrading.
Man tl is a awesome car i have 190k on mine and still running 💪 just keep your oil changed and trans oil changed and ur good

Well said.
