thanks bro
that new step transition is fire!!! nice work!!
I’m going to be doing something similar . My question is do you run the new beams parallel to the old beams ? You used adhesive on the bottom of the new joists to stop squeaking?
Did you figure out?
Is it loud stepping into the new floor? I have a combination of slab foundation and pier and beam. Everywhere where the floor is above ground (pier and beam), you can hear everyone's steps. We upgraded the floor years ago and now it creaks in certain spots. It didn't happen right away but over time in high traffic areas.
I haven’t noticed it being any louder or having more echo. We also went from carpet to a decent quality vinyl plank that has a thick pad on it.
Did you have to resupport the base boards under?
No, we nailed the new 2x12 to the wall and main beam that supports the floor of the kitchen. Also the added weight of the new beams wouldn’t be enough to stress the existing floor joists.
Did you have to raise outlets ?
Yes, they all got raised up a foot. I have another video where I show how I patched the holes.
