I have been dealing with this issue for 2+ years and your video mentioned the exact symptoms and to change out the sensor. That did the trick. I changed out the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (it is so easy on the ’05 5.3L engine), waited till 3:30pm in NC for the outside temperatures to reach 90+° F and took a test drive. Once the coolant reached 200° and I drove for a few miles, the AC output stayed cool, and the computer did not shut off the compressor nor did it turn up the radiator fans to max. More testing to come to ensure full malfunction issues are gone.
Thank you so much for your video!

Perfect. It's exactly what went wrong with my truck but the check engine light didn't come on. It eventually cleared itself but I'm going to change out the sensor and (appreciate the suggestion) the thermostat. Well done!

@@ZTL0DI Yes it did. Piece of cake. It probably took me 50 minutes from start to finish including getting my tools out to putting them away. Ordered parts from Amazon, not much for both the sensor and stat.

What if youve already put a new sensor in the truck, thought the problem was fixed, then a month later the fan starts blowing hard again and the temperature gauge wont go past 160.....again? What could be the issue?

@@jginnovationgaragellcHey great video, I'm a new subscriber and I need your help! I was about to get to work this morning when I heard my fan kick in on high, realized my temp gauge wasn't working also. It was working before I left the house, it's a cool morning so I had the heater on for the first time this year too. NO engine light, NO codes yet. Got to work, shut off truck and fan stayed running for a minute or two then shut off. I'm worried I won't make it home this afternoon, 45 minute drive. Should I change both parts out or which one should I try first? Again no codes or engine light. I haven't tried the AC yet but I'll run out there in bit once it warms up...I have 2014 chevy silverado Z71

Thank you for your reply. Yes sir it was my temperature sensor which fixes it 98% of the time but it’s always good preventative maintenance to change the thermostat as well , because already there. And parts don’t really matter much unless you get them
From dealership because there’s 2 types of AC Delco , part house line ((autozone ect ) and dealership line .. ask me how I know ! Put ACDelco wheel bearing assembly from
autozone AC Delco 3 times on my other vehicle lasted 60 days max ! Went to dealership bought AC Delco from dealership same part just one number different. No issues at all have lifetime warranty and labor warranty.
Same bearings assembly at autozone $98 each ac Delco but same part at dealership $389 each just last number was X
So thank you sir have a blessed day

So why does the video suck sir?
Do you have any air pockets in cooling system due to losing fluids? Did you bleed the air out of the system afterwards?
Sorry about the inconvenience caused by this situation . This video has helped a lot of people.
It’s possible that the sensor is faulty from the auto parts store? What brand of sensor did you purchase? Is the plug all the way secure and seated ? Did you put electrical grease in the connection? Are the pins not damaged? There’s a lot of variables that can affect everything sir.

This video sucks apparently because our boy Andy Olsen has no troubleshooting ability and feels ripped off that a free TH-cam video did not solve his problems that would otherwise cost him $100-$200 per hour for a highly skilled and certified shop to diagnose. What a rip off huh!? Your video is helpful, I have one that is very intermittent right now and I am unable to duplicate to find root cause so knowing what others are doing will help me give customers options. 1. Pay me to continue to attempt to get this issue to happen while I am checking it to pinpoint the several inputs that could cause the concern. Or 2. Replace what a lot of others are replacing and if it fixes it, I save him the diag time and if it doesn't at least he doesn't pay me to spend a bunch of time re inventing the wheel on a potential known issue. Thanks and see clowns like this guy for what they are.
