Dustin. Great video.!!! On my 3rd A/C and 2nd transmission at 150k. Will never own another new GM product. After their gross negligence of not recalling known A/C issue due to “not a safety issue “. It is when you have kids and pets especially after spending over 60k along with buying all the aftermarket compressors and reselling them back to customers for triple the price this is a sore subject

One thing I want to hit on by this great video, if you see your vehicle blowing hot and then look at your clutch and it goes on and off use the A/C gauge like he was saying and if its in the red or yellow take a screw driver with a tip and slightly push in until the gauge is on the blue and then check your A/C this has fixed alot of problems alone due to when overfilled the stress on the compressor is great. Thx to everyone who makes videos to help others and gives advice.

My man! Good news and bad news. I went ahead and checked with the light, come to find out that weld had some leakage around it, PRIOR to me doing anything. So, I have an idea as to what the previous owner went through. They had also used UV and possibly leak stop. I went ahead and emptied my tiny little can just to confirm, huge UV blowup at that same weld. Yelp! At least now I know the problem AND I will be referring to your next video as soon as my new part gets here. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Soooooo upon further inspection I found out that the problem was my AC compressor clutch. Inspection probably isn't the correct word.....more like stumbled upon. I left my amps on over night by mistake. When I went to start the truck.....nothin, no juice left in the batteries (I'm running 3 BTW 😆). So as I'm hooking up the jump box to the main battery under the hood I just happened to notice that the AC clutch is just laying there on my skid plate and right next to it was the bolt that was holding on to the coil. The front rubber piece separated itself from the actual clutch as well. Got the clutch, coil, stretch belt, and stretch belt tool from Rockauto.com for $130 bucks and replaced it without removing the compressor. It was a bit of a pain in the @ss but totally worth it cause now she's blowing snow balls again. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos brother, they really are informative and helpful so keep up the good work! !

Thanks for the assistance. I didn't even have to do all your steps. Looked in behind the grill and there's an oily green spot right where you had a leak on that top weld connection. I had already researched and knew GM had an issue with a leak on the condensers but wasn't sure where. I guess they extended warranty on some to 5 yrs or 60,000 miles but I'm at 63,000 on my 2015. I have a call into the local service manager but if they won't fix it I'm going to try a can of refrigerant with sealant. But if I need to replace the condenser I know where to go for instructions, I saved your link. I haven't watched your repair video but mine is a Z71 and has a transmission cooler. I hate to mess with all of those connections. Anyways, thanks again!

Thanks for the video. The day after we bought my wife a new car and I put the truck in my name, the AC quit blowing cold air. Followed your video and sure enough the leak was at the same weld that you showed. Mechanic says he has replaced about 50 condensers and would be no problem to repair

Lol, I had the same leak on my 14 sierra 2 yrs ago. Dealership wanted about a grand to repair it. I think they wanted for 400 for the condenser itself. Like you said they were on back order and was going to take a month or 2 just to get it. I ended up finding one online for 160. The install was fairly simple. I paid a mechanic 40 to recharge the a/c afterwards.

Ty. Very helpful. Took my 2014 high country into shop. They replaced top line going thru dryer port. Still no ac. They said they evacuated. I spilled Freon on my top line. Not sure it needed replaced. I will ask them to add UV Freon and check the bottom compressor line and condenser! I was thinking a nut was loose on evaporator but you point to common problems. Great info!

Hey thanks for the video. I wanted to add i just had the same exact leak you did and while searching the internet for condenser price i found out there is an extended warranty for a failure in that location.
Copied from a site below. Thought it would be good info for some.
General Motors (GM) has extended the warranty coverage on some model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles that may experience cracked combination transmission fluid oil and AC condenser coolers.
This warranty extension covers air conditioning condenser refrigerant leaks at the coupler located at the upper right coupler as viewed from the front of the vehicle.

I was not pleased with the performance of my ac since I got my 2014 sierra a year ago. My truck would overheat when pulling a load. Then the ac really became intermittent. A mechanic told me the radiator was clogged and needed to be replaced. I began looking into a new radiator and ended up holding off. I was looking into the ac issue and kind of zeroed in on the heat blend door. So I get into the dash to checkbit out and the actuator motor runs perfectly. I was thinking "what am I missing?"
The grand fix saved me a lot of time and money... washed out the radiator! It didn't look bad, but wow the amount of dirt and leave that were between the ac condenser radiator and the mane radiator. They are both the same size and the ac radiator sits in front of the other. So it was blocking the air from cooling the engine. Fixed both issues at the same time.

I had a 2014 Silverado and the A/C was starting to go out. Wasn't blowing as cold when new and I had it for 3 years with only 11,000 miles on it. I got a new 2017 Sierra and I can tell the A/C lines are different from the 2014-2015 models. Had the Sierra for a year now with only 1500 miles on it hopefully no problems to come. And on my Silverado the paint started peeling off by the third brake light witch pissed me off!

I have a 15 Yukon and my ac went out this past Monday I called GMC Hardin in Anaheim and they said that there's a recall on certain gm trucks. They ran my vin number and mine came up and got fixed for free. Thank God because I didn't want to spend 1k on the repair. You guys have to call the dealer and see if your vin number is covered. It has to have less than 60k miles.

Had a certified pre-owned 2014 GMC sierra with same problem. My AC condensor had a freon leak starting 2 months after warranty period. Dealership wanted 1307 to fix it! They offered only 10% financial support. This is a very common problem in these trucks and they are offering more financial assistance for some of the newer models that have the same issue. That was not the case for me. GM needs to own up to this problem and help out their customers. Some other AC shops I have been to have said this is a very common problem in the 2014 sierras and they only charge around 800 with the dealership condenser.

It's very common for the cambi tank to leak. That's what the tank off the side of the condenser is called... there is a special policy on some of the truck. That condenser is the same on silverado ,Sierra , yukon, tahoe suburban, and escalade also. We put 3 or 4 a week in at my dealership..
Gm has a updated bracket to go with the new a.c. line also for that truck.

Great video. Just an FYI there is a class action lawsuit against GM for this reason. I suggest to google it and register. This way if a decision is ever made in consumer favor and you KEEP YOUR RECIEPTS, you can be reimbursed. Like the video stated its a 1k fix at the dealer.

What's the difference between that single gauge you use and the dual gauges for high and low? Is one better than the other?
