Nice one just bought the 7492 over here in Barcelona , I went for that to allow more blade height on a cross cut sledI am planning to build, the old Einhell saw is now up for retirement to the garage for cutting up the kindling for the woodburner. 😄
Just grabbed a Dewalt DWE7491XE and have been looking at heaps of out feed table set ups to instal in my workshop. Some are mind blowing, with a finish looking like a dinning room table. This table is pretty close to exactly what I was wanting to build with, size, vice etc. I'll additionally run a power system around the bench. Thanks Terry for a great job and build.

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Great job on building the table around the Dewalt saw! I have the same saw and built a small mobile cart for it. Now I’m thinking of building an out feed/ assembly table for it. Wish I would have seen yours first, it would have solved both issues for me. I may still copy your design if you don’t mind. Once again, great job! 👏
Nice build and nothing wrong with making it a mix of a video and a montage talk-over. That worked really well in conveying the thoughts that went into this build 👍 My first impression was that you were lacking to extend the miter slots into the outfeed table… But when you pulled out your sled it dawned on me that by not extending the miter slots you can design the sled to naturally stop exactly before the blade exists the front of the sled (where your hands are in danger). I don’t know why I never thought of that, but it looks like you did and that is darn clever. Thanks for the inspirations!
Hi Dennis, thanks for watching and your kind comments, it’s funny you mention the runners because I was tempted only this week to router out two slots for the runners for the occasions that I could do with them, but to be fair I only cut small pieces on the sled, so I decided it against it. 👍🏼
This is a wonderful build!! Absolutely inspiring! There’s nothing you can’t build with your saw that someone with a 3 hp behemoth can do! Trust me, I have the largest Dewalt jobsite saw here in America and I can saw through pretty much anything…made of wood. 😉

I am the same. Very similar size shed and built a similar size one to this. Managed to get a router table in as well at the other end and put on wheels so could be moved around. Would like a bigger space but have to work with what we have !
One important detail I’ve noticed that people might be interested in is the mitre gauge track does not extend onto the table top. Which means that your table saw needs to be higher than the table top by the thickness of the mitre gauge.
Your right, I need to router out some tracks into my table top, but I can’t bring myself to do it 😂 I don’t want the saw sitting higher, it works so well being level with the table
Great design. I have same table saw with the pesky wings. I'm trying to make a scaled down version (not as long) of your great bench, trying to follow your design and comments. Could you clarify how you got the template so accurate -- not sure what you mean by: "cut out the hole at the narrowest point of the tabletop... drop the table into the hole, and the outer wings acted as a template". Did you use the L and R sides of the rectangular hole to prop up the saw using the wings when you part dropped it in, and then draw the template, remove the saw, cut out the template, drop the saw all the way in? Hi, thank you for your comments. Just to clarify I cut the first hole at approximately 19 inches or 485 mm, I then slid the saw in from the front of the bench and let the wings sit on top of the plywood. I then drew around the wings as a template, and then removed the saw and cut out the wings and dropped the saw back in. I do hope this makes sense. Hi Mark, I’m going to honest because I can’t actually remember why I cut that side straigh, I think at the time I thought I had to be able to access the side of the saw but it tops up I don’t . If I was to make it again I would have both sides matching, thanks for watching 👍🏼
Is it possible to flip the fence to the other side of the blade with this design or would one need a larger opening behind the saw to allow the fence locking system to be actuated?
Wow, I love it! Great work! It sounds like your rack and pinion fence is a little stiff. . . Would some paste wax make that move a little more freely? I've thought about getting that same table saw too. Your input would be appreciated. Also, since you use your saw often, do you ever wish you had a slightly bigger saw with a large cast iron table and a bigger electric motor for sawing extra thick material? Cheers. :-)
Thanks Justin, you’re probably right it might need a bit of grease or paste wax, but no, the saw is perfect for me it’s the right size, of course we all like something a bit bigger, but I analysed this for ages before buying the DeWalt and this came out tops every single time, no matter which saw I looked at this saw always won. You won’t regret buying it.
This is so great. I like hoe clean this is. Im working on putting something like this together. Is the table saw in line with top ply wood? It looks like the top of the saw is not in line. How much higher should the top of the table saw be in line with the plywood?
How did you figured out the height for the ''shelf'' for the saw to rest on ? can you adjust it if need be ? I was looking if anyone had made a ''pannel saw'' out of theuir saw. Like with a shelf/table on the side that slide.
Hi, I must admit it was trial and error. I started off with the shelf held in by clamps either side and I moved it up a little bit at a time with a spirit level resting across the saw and the bench, once it was in place and both were flush I then fixed the screws in place
Hi Russel, no, basically I undid the screws along the front support and raised up each side, with a long spirit level across the top so I could see when it was flush and once I was happy I drove a screw in on one side then the other, it was a bit tricky and time consuming. But I got there eventually. Then the same with the back. I needed about 4 pairs of hands at the time 😂
Nice.... I tend to think everyones first bench is made out of necessity so we usually get the meat and potatoes. Haven't made my first bench yet but I feel that I want to plan it and it will take a lot of time to fine tune it whereas I can build one to get something to use in my workspace.... and then I'm stuck because of the effort put into this one... Do you suggest rushing and getting a workbench up or is it worth it in the long run to simply wait it out which can hold back projects that are not shop projects?
Now that’s a tough one, I must admit I made my bench twice, Well almost, This bench started off a lot more basic than what you see in this video, but then when I bought my Dewalt tablesaw, I decided to fine tune it, I put a new top on it and spend a lot of time getting it just right with the trim around the sides etc. A lot depends on what you plan to do. I’m just a weekend woodworker and I don’t really have that many projects on the go so I was able to take my time on this and get it exactly as I wanted. I would say take your time and enjoy the build.

Sagging in the middle of the bench or the table saw ? The bench is reinforced underneath so all good so far 👍🏼 no dips in the table saw either but job site saws are never 100% flat, probably 99.9 % 😂
It a very nice bench but you could have saved time and effort and had more real estate on the bench. I don't know if you're familiar with Ron Paulk. I built his original workbench and made wood adaptors so my Dewalt would sit nicely on the 19mm pipes that mounted to the bench. This meant that my saw was clear of the main bench so there was no need to rout slots for the mechanism. It also gives you the ability to take the saw off if you're not using it so you have a full worksurface. I still like you bench though and if it suits you, that's all that matters.

Hi, do you mean the table saw top itself ? If so I would say no, it’s not perfectly flat, this is my second saw and it’s much better than the first one, the first one was slightly lower in the middle but dewalt replaced it without any fuss at all. This second one is much better but not 100% flat, But almost. You have to spend thousands of pounds on a cabinet saw for 100% perfection and flatness. But for everyday jobs this saw is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone 👍🏼
In reality Dewalt is not concerned with supplying a TOP bench saw: -The internal dust insulation has been changed, even so the machine releases a lot of dust. - It's a noisy machine. - The consumer does not have the option to buy this machine at 127 volts. - No disc brake - Goniometer with clearance. - There is no flange size option, plastering the consumer to buy cutting discs of another size (should come shaft hole flanges of other disc sizes as an accessory). - The cutting edge is out of adjustment. - The angle adjustment knob is too hard as well as unreliable. - Does not fit 254 mm disc, only 250 mm. When starting and stopping the engine, strangely "spark". DISAPPOINTMENT! The industries, such as Bosch, Makita, Dewalt etc. it is the same disrespect towards the consumer. Adilson you're right! Enough of watching videos from TH-camrs running their hands over the heads of the saw manufacturers just to beg and beg a shut up and in favor of GARBAGE!!!!!!! People who keep selling themselves to the manufacturers of saws and tools in exchange for "jabá". The reality is one, for tool manufacturers, we are considered third class consumers, not to mention the lack of safety and quality! We cannot and must not accept these equipment and tools without quality, safety and respect for others, it is the lack of maturity prevailing at the expense of reasonableness, common sense, ethics, safety and respect! We cannot accept that we Brazilians are treated as third-class consumers, denying us and making us have to consume products without quality. We don't have to accept what the manufacturers want to sell us and push down our throats, precarious, limited machines, which fall short of our needs. Today, the market has a lack and need for portable saws with better quality, as well as features and safety. This "little chat" and the justification of the industries that these machines are for construction sites only serves to relieve them of launching better saws. Year after year the so-called "releases" and or "new" do not have effective advances and improvements. It is the same as always, the accommodation of industries. What really changes is just price, always more expensive, without significant effective improvements for the consumer!

I measure my table saw then just used washers to really dial it in

It a very nice bench but you could have saved time and effort and had more real estate on the bench.
I don't know if you're familiar with Ron Paulk.
I built his original workbench and made wood adaptors so my Dewalt would sit nicely on the 19mm pipes that mounted to the bench. This meant that my saw was clear of the main bench so there was no need to rout slots for the mechanism. It also gives you the ability to take the saw off if you're not using it so you have a full worksurface.
I still like you bench though and if it suits you, that's all that matters.

Hi, do you mean the table saw top itself ? If so I would say no, it’s not perfectly flat, this is my second saw and it’s much better than the first one, the first one was slightly lower in the middle but dewalt replaced it without any fuss at all. This second one is much better but not 100% flat, But almost. You have to spend thousands of pounds on a cabinet saw for 100% perfection and flatness. But for everyday jobs this saw is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone 👍🏼

In reality Dewalt is not concerned with supplying a TOP bench saw: -The internal dust insulation has been changed, even so the machine releases a lot of dust. - It's a noisy machine. - The consumer does not have the option to buy this machine at 127 volts. - No disc brake - Goniometer with clearance. - There is no flange size option, plastering the consumer to buy cutting discs of another size (should come shaft hole flanges of other disc sizes as an accessory). - The cutting edge is out of adjustment. - The angle adjustment knob is too hard as well as unreliable. - Does not fit 254 mm disc, only 250 mm. When starting and stopping the engine, strangely "spark". DISAPPOINTMENT! The industries, such as Bosch, Makita, Dewalt etc. it is the same disrespect towards the consumer. Adilson you're right! Enough of watching videos from TH-camrs running their hands over the heads of the saw manufacturers just to beg and beg a shut up and in favor of GARBAGE!!!!!!! People who keep selling themselves to the manufacturers of saws and tools in exchange for "jabá". The reality is one, for tool manufacturers, we are considered third class consumers, not to mention the lack of safety and quality! What really changes is just price, always more expensive, without significant effective improvements for the consumer!
