Thanks sooo much for your great explanations and food suggestions 🙏🏽👍🏼🙂 I had a Stent placement and was randomly looking at videos. You have a new subscriber.
I had a quadruple bypass 5 years ago. Post the operation, a heart specialist was dismissive that I was not taking cholesterol-lowering medication. Prior to my operation, I had become aware of impacted feces problems. As a preventative method, I was taking Meta Mucil. It says on the container that it may lower cholesterol. It certainly does. Maybe its absence in dietary recommendations has been the lack of credible studies regarding its benefits.
Metamucil is a fantastic source of soluble fibre which is a key component of the portfolio diet - a diet designed to lower cholesterol. Glad you found something that works for you, and thanks for sharing 😊
I urge you to consider getting your soluble fiber from food (i.e. sweet potatoes, etc.) instead of that particular supplement, it is quite toxic! I recommend doing a deep dive on that product and how the mechanisms in one's body deal with it and the ingredient content. I would hate for anyone to suffer the consequences of consuming that kind of supplement long term.
Thanks for this video. I had 4 stints put in after a heart attack. So scary as I totally ignored the warnings symptoms I had . My jaw pain would come and go for a few weeks before the heart attack. I read this was a common symptom in women . So now I’m eating everything you mentioned in your post! So I know I am on the right track 😊😊😊 thank you 🙏
Thank you for your useful tips. We are mainly plant based and it's always a challenge to reduce overall carbohydrate intake and have enough protein and omega 3. They say ALA does not convert much to DHA / EPA. Will this put us at risks of atherosclerosis and arterial plaques, I wonder! 🙏🙏
Generally eggs are able to fit into a heart healthy diet since dietary cholesterol doesn’t increase blood cholesterol as much as we once thought (and as much as saturated fat does). Unfortunately I can’t provide individual advice on this platform on how many eggs that would be for you.
I'm vegan(>15yrs), high altitude trekker, non smoker, rarely drink, had 3 blocks and 2stents. If it's hereditary, diet or lifestyle alone is ineffective, in addition to diet you need to take medicine.
Why do you think lower cholesterol should be a goal? It seems not everyone agrees with that. Grains, even unprocessed one are not recommended by many Drs now, iirc due to being inflammatory? th-cam.com/video/rdgS3PuSuyg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CYnir4wLs2yyB3a9
I may not be answering your question correctly so let me know if you want me to elaborate more. But I think our body definitely needs some cholesterol too function but too much cholesterol can cause plaque build up. That’s why I recommend lowering cholesterol, never eliminating all cholesterol, but lowering it.
And as for grains it definitely depends on the type of grains as some are inflammatory but if you stick with less processed, more natural grains, these are unlikely to be inflammatory.

Thanks for the positive feedback. If you don’t eat fish the best way to get that omega 3 is through ALA sources. Sounds like you’ve got this 👊
What about eggs? Are they safe to eat? And if so, how often?

Yes! Omega 3 rich fish will help lower triglycerides and are low in saturated fat. So it’s also a great option.
