    build what you love and have, thats what makes your car "your car" because you have pride in what you managed to make out of stock, There will always be something faster or better then what you own kids stop crapping on other people, shut up and build, put it on the line and race in your own class.

    Dave (the guy who put this kit together years ago) is a great guy and retired now. This kit was put together very well with some of the best instructions I have ever seen for anything. I bought this kit back then and still have it running today, (55,000 miles on it). But it should not have been used with the stock exhaust, and that is why their dyno numbers are not breaking 300hp. It needed a free flowing dual exhaust for another 30-40hp, and a lot cooler engine compartment. I am between 330 and 350hp with mine depending on the air temperature between like 35 deg F. and 85 deg. (really notice that with a super charged engine). I do have the smallest pulley and the water to air inter cooler. He used the best stuff for the kit. Quality business man. Been years since I talked with him, the last time telling me he retired. I hope he is doing well.

      @@crisper1614 The trap I waled into is, it is a V-6 with out a good rear end or exhaust. You will get over 300 hp, and the stock exhaust will really heat up the engine. I have about 20 grand into my car now, (totally restored), and it is a nice 340hp car. But I am sure things like resale would make the V-8 more attractive with much less work and cost.

    Lol this kit is close to 5 grand. The intercoolled version is close to 6. I have a v6 and I love it to death, I won't be supercharging it at all, cold air intake yes. Exhaust yes. It sounds good though. If you dont tune it also, no power gain. And if you let hot underhood air in might even lower it. So cheap kits can lower HP.

    Yes, 15-18% loss. When you measure the flywheel HP compared to RWHP. However what is shown is a dyno chart listing stock V6 RWHP (186) to X-Charged RWHP (271). Meaning that the power gain is an increase of just under 100 RWHP. It is an 85 RWHP increase. Still a big increase for a 3.0 pully putting out 6-7psi of boost. I'm doing the same thing to my Mustang this winter most likely. Will probably also snag the 8.8 rear while I'm at it.

  • @Eeropolvasti

    Pretty good video, needs to cut down on the exaggeration some. It said it'll get 340hp when it only made 270. And don't say it made decent power to begin with, I drive an 06 V6 and I know that's not true lol.
    And to the people saying 270 isn't a V8 killer... This is bone stock with the supercharger. Anyone that supercharges will also get a full exhaust system with LT headers, dual exhaust, and also upgrade the TB to a 70mm, and I would hope a custom dyno tune and not some mail order tune. With all that and a limited slip differential and 3.73 gears, and some suspension stuff like rear lca's, yes, this car is a well over 300hp V8 killer.

    • @Matt-dx6tu

    • @RenegadeRukus
      @RenegadeRukus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matt Sadagursky Well, considering that 340bhp is roughly 270-290rwhp I'd have to say they were spot on. Being a car guy you shouldn't have to be told which hp they mean when there is a dyno sheet and you can do rough calculations. Should they have specified? Sure, but it's much easier to sell a $3000+ kit to someone for a style of car that isn't modded much when you just say "we are making 340hp" vs "we will be making 340bhp, which would then translate to 270-290hp to the rear wheels with the power conversion losing power through the drivetrain"

    EGR improves emissions and fuel economy when the engine is at partial throttle, and the system shuts off completely at WOT. So it really doesn't make sense to get rid of it when it improves fuel economy under normal driving without sacrificing any power at WOT.

    idk a new v6 goes for $20,995 while a gt goes for $27,995 so thats a $7,000 difference add the x-charger ($4,500) and the rear end ($1,000) and now you have a car that is about $26,495 so its still cheaper than the gt, weighs less, less insurance, and has about the same power as the gt. i think its a good deal for the ppl who have a v6 and just want a bit more power.

      Dyno numbers across several random dynos will not show the accuracy of the real power. That is because there really is no calibration method for them, and they are as accurate as designed and set up/operated. There are accurate dyno's out there though. I have one. But I used a freshly broken new engine, that has a owners manual that states the peak power an RPM. So I got it running as good as I can, and adjusted the result (Called the "efficiency loss factor" on mine), until my dyno was reading what the manual says. 2.8hp. (small 2-stroke race engines on a Land and Sea water brake engine dyno) :)

    132 pounds lighter based upon specs from Motor Trend. And that 5 hp higher is with the factory tune. With a tune I'm pretty sure I could hit 300 rwhp easy.

    wheres the dual exhaust and headers? put those and a tune up and you could kill a GT....for 4-7 grand on top of the V6 retail, you might as well buy a 5.0L crate engine from roush

  • @kreigsmann
    @kreigsmann 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    corrected quote hahah
    neither engine was available for that car for the year. which i failed to mention.. 1992. it has a 3.4 DOHC.. great engine but lots of maintenance.
    the 3800 is probably what im going to get put in if i do an engine swap because of all the possible mods...like roller rockers.. the iron duke only peaks 90 hp but lasts forever theres almost no maintenance... has timing sprockets and no chains or belts.. its the engine the mail trucks use.
    what company do you work for. ford?

    I added everything but a Super Charger and I am 374 RWHP. I got 19 miles per gallon vs a V6 at 21... wow!!
    I am adding a Super Charger next year. I will be around 500 HP.

    • @ClaytonMRay
      @ClaytonMRay 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrTyler8877 they upgraded the rear end to an 8.8 which is a pretty stout rear end on its own, but most likely it was to house the 3.73 gears to put the torque down with minimal stress on the rear end. the stock rear end gears in the s197 are pretty tall. you could run this kit on the stock car it just wouldn't have the quicker take off of the 3.73 gears.

    im sorry, but for the cost of all those parts i might as well just buy the GT Premium with a couple thousand miles on it, i mean if the whole point was to make it just better than the v8 and not push it farther say into the 400hp range then it isnt worth all the trouble, like my 4.0 is pushing 413 rwhp and i literally dumped cash into it
